20 Years Since Hurricane Katrina
Twenty years ago, at this very moment โ 6:10 a.m. CDT โ Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, claiming over 1,800 lives and causing $80 billion in damages.
U.S. Northern Command mobilized 22,000 military personnel to assist in rescue and recovery operations, delivering aid and rebuilding critical infrastructure. Katrina was a defining moment for USNORTHCOM, shaping the future of disaster response.
Today, we honor the lives lost, the survivors who endured, and the responders who answered the call to serve.
