<The U.S. Secret Service raided Steve Jackson Games in 1990 to investigate a hacker known as "The Mentor" (Loyd Blankenship), who was an employee of the company and the operator of a Bulletin Board System (BBS) that published files from a stolen 911 emergency system document. The Secret Service believed Blankenship was using Steve Jackson Games' computers to conduct further hacking activities and a weak warrant was issued in an attempt to find incriminating evidence
<At the time of the raid, many believed, and early reports suggested, the Secret Service was targeting Steve Jackson Games for publishing GURPS Cyberpunk, a computer-themed role-playing game, and that they mistakenly thought it was a handbook for computer crime, according to Dicebreaker.
<Steve Jackson Games filed a civil lawsuit against the Secret Service, which they won, receiving $300,000 in damages and attorney's fees.
