Dozoretz, a psychiatrist, is founder and board chair of ValueOptions Inc., one of the nationโ€™s leading behavioral health and wellness companies. ValueOptions offers services to more than 24 million people. With a staff of more than 4,500 across the United States, the company generates more than $1 billion in revenue annually.

 

Throughout his career, Dozoretz has worked to improve access to health care. He is an expert on topics related to the hospital industry and health care management. He has been asked by the White House to assist in the development of national health care policies and has been a member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors.

 

A former lieutenant commander at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., Dozoretz established one of the first private psychiatric hospitals in Eastern Virginia. The company evolved into American Medical Centers.

 

After observing the impact of community-based psychiatric services and the growth of managed care, Dozoretz founded FHC Health Systems, which became the parent organization for several health and behavioral health specialty companies.

 

Dozoretz has been active in numerous professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems. A strong advocate for education, he is a fellow of the Center for Public Leadership of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and an assistant professor of psychiatry at Eastern Virginia Medical School. In addition, he created a mentoring program for youths and is a founding contributor of the Dozoretz National Institute for Minorities in Applied Sciences at Norfolk State University.

 

Dozoretz earned a bachelorโ€™s degree from the State University of New York and a medical degree from the University of Buffalo. He received specialty training in psychiatry at University Hospitals.
