Also, boomers were in a tough spot as the next generation from those who fought in WWII. To question an attack was likely an offense to those who fought. In hindsight, we know that wars are manufactured and that information is relatively recent in the timeline. Access to investigation, information and dissenting opinion was more controlled. Killing a President in front of the world was just the beginning of the upswing in psychological control.
