Liberal Judge Rules Trump Deployment of Military to L.A. Exceeded Powers

Judge Charles Breyer, a senior judge on the federal bench for the Northern District of California,ruled Monday that President Donald Trump exceeded his powers in deploying the military to Los Angeles.
Specifially, Breyer — a Bill Clinton appointee who is also the younger brother of retired Supreme Court Stephen Breyer — ruled that Trump had violated the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which prevents federal troops from being used in state or local law enforcement. (The law was passed with the support of white supremacist Democrats to push back federal troops that had enforced Reconstruction in the South.)
Trump had called in both the National Guard and the U.S. Marines to protect federal property and federal law enforcement officials, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, from riotous mobs.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) — who sued Trump, filling in the segregationist role — was exultant, claiming victory in a press statement:
Today, the court sided with democracy and the Constitution. No president is a king — not even Trump — and no president can trample a state’s power to protect its people. As the court today ruled, Trump is breaking the law by ‘creating a national police force with the President as its chief.’ That’s exactly what we’ve been warning about for months. There is no rampant lawlessness in California, and in fact, crime rates are higher in Republican-led states [sic]. Trump’s attempt to use federal troops as his personal police force is illegal, authoritarian, and must be stopped in every courtroom across this country.
Newsom has repeatedly claimed that crime is higher in “red” states, ignoring the fact that crime in those states is concentrated in Democrat-dominated “blue” cities.
In the past, Newsom has previously celebrated wins in court at the lower levels, only to lose on appeal or at the Supreme Court. Most recently, the Ninth Circuit unanimously found, contrary to Newsom, that Trump had the power to federalize the California National Guard. (The appellate court overruled Judge Breyer, who also presided in that case.)
Tuesday’s ruling only applies to California, and the judge implied that the president could still use the Insurrection Act to call in federal troops.

Gavin Newsom Hides Behind ‘Homicide Rates’ After 3,200+ Killed with Guns in California

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is again pointing to the “homicide rate” rather than the number of residents killed with firearmsin California as he continues his attempt to prove gun control is working.
He turned to the “homicide rate” after an NBC News anchor attempted to corner Sen. James Lankford (R) by claimingthe “crime rate” in Oklahoma is “higher than the rate New York and California.”
Newsom reacted by posting to X: “Oklahoma’s homicide rate is 47% higher than California’s.”
What Newsom omittedare the latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),showing that 3,209 people were killed with guns in California in 2023, while 814 people were killed with guns in Oklahomain the same year.
Newsom did a similar thing last year, when he criticized gun violence in Missouriwithout mentioning that California had over two times the fatalities.
California has more gun control than any other state and is ranked Number One for gun control stringency by Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety.
However, FBI data showedCalifornia was also Number One in the nation for “active shooter incidents” in 2021 and 2023, despite having gun control upon gun control upon gun control.

Dingell: I ‘Do Hear People Worried About Crime’ at Town Halls

On Monday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) said that during her town halls, “you do hear people worried about crime on the street, the increase of homelessness, and the mental health issue.”
Dingell said, “If you were to ask me to do a takeaway from — I did a lot of town halls this August — people are worried and scared. Andthe word I’m going to use is safety. They want to know that they’re going to be able to afford their food and be able to get food to eat.”
She continued, “Many workers are worried about their job. They want job security.And you do hear people worried about crime on the street, the increase of homelessness, and the mental health issue.
But when it comes to the increased cost of goods — look, I’m one of those people that’s complicated. The trade unions, many of whom did support Donald Trump, the tariffs have increased their daily costs of everything, and it’s cost them jobs. The president eliminated the bipartisan infrastructure law,which had given many of them jobs.
So, they’re angry about that. The UAW — andI’m someone who says tariffs are a tool in a toolbox — wants a level playing field against China, which is subsidizing the production, using slave labor, manipulating their currency. But I think, on this Labor Day, you’re seeing everybody come together because they think everything’s too expensive, they’re worried about their jobs, and they don’t like seeing what’s happening in this country.”

Doubling Down: UK Gov’t Announces ‘Expedited’ Visas for Gazans, Extension for Ukraine Asylum Seekers

At the opening of the autumn session of Parliament, British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper laid out a series of measures to supposedly crack down on immigration,while at the same time announcing plans to bring more alleged refugees into the country, including from Gaza, and to extend the right to stay in the country for Ukrainian asylum seekers.
In an apparent attempt to fend off the rising challenge from Nigel Farage and his Reform UK party amid public fury over mass migration, Home Secretary Cooper announced a temporary measure to block asylum seekers from bringing their family members to the UK.
However, critics were quick to note that the raft of proposals included fresh schemesfor immigration into Britain, including an “expedited” visa scheme for Palestinians from Gazato come to the country and study in UK universities. Such students will be brought to the country within weeks to attend the autumn semester, Cooper said, according to the Evening Standard.
The Home Secretary went on to announce that the government will “establish a permanent framework” for supposed refugees to come to Britain to study.
Additionally, the left-wing government — currently mired in a row with Jerusalem after backing Palestinian statehood — said that it would take “immediate action to rescue children who have been seriously injured in a horrendous onslaught on civilians in Gaza so they can get the health treatment they need.”
Cooper said that her Home Office is also planning “expedited visas” for the family members of Palestinian children brought to the country for medical care.
The cabinet minister went on to say that the Labour government will “continue to do our bit to support Ukraine” by extending the asylum scheme for Ukrainians, allowing them to remain in the country for at least another two years.
While Cooper rejected calls from the Green Party to lift the prohibition on asylum seekers working in Britain, noting that it would only further incentivise illegal immigration into the country, the Home Secretarysuggested that the government would look to allow student refugees to work during their studies. The backing of more refugees coming into the UK was largely overlooked by the establishment press, which instead focused on the alleged tightening of restrictions on chain migration for asylum seekers.
Cooper noted that under the current framework,it is easier for recently successful refugees to bring their families to the UK than it is for British citizens to obtain visas for their foreign spouses or partners. However, the announced prohibition will only be in place until the government passes new legislation, under which refugees will once again be able to apply for family reunion, provided they meet fresh requirements, including English proficiency and an income threshold of £29,000.
Last year, a record 20,817 migrants were brought to the country under refugee family reunion visas.However, far more came under the broader category of chain migration through regular migrants, with around 80,000 more visas being issued to migrant family members.
Cooper also stated that the government will consider issuing guidance for judges on how to interpret Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The broadly defined clause, which protects the right to a “private and family life,” has been frequently used to block the deportation of criminal migrants.
Yet, this pales in comparison to the hardline stance taken by Reform UK’s Nigel Farage, who has vowed to withdraw Britain entirely from the ECHR as well as eliminate the Tony Blair-era human rights laws, which effectively enshrined ECHR principles into British law. Farage has also vowed to establish a deportation command centre with the aim of removing at least 600,000 illegals from the UK during his first term in office.

18 Illegal Aliens Arrested in Texas Marijuana Warehouse

HOUSTON, Texas — Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) special agents teamed up with police in Stafford, Texas,to raid a suspected illegal marijuana warehouse last week. During the raid, agents arrested 18 illegal aliens who were working illegally in the warehouse.
“You can run, but you can’t hide, even if it’s in the ceiling!,” DEA Houston officials wrote in a post on social media. “18 undocumented individuals arrested after #DEA Houstonuncovered a significant illegal marijuana warehousewith several undocumented individuals working inside. We worked jointly with @Stafford_PD on this case.”
Stafford Police Department officials provided additional details on the raid that took place in the 4000 block of Greenbriar, located just southwest of Houston. Among the 18 illegal aliens arrested during the raid,were Mexicans, Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Salvadorans. The raid led to the seizure of approximately1,200 pounds of illegal marijuana, officials stated.
“Criminal activity will be strongly enforced in Stafford, and we remain committed to protecting our community,” said Chief Richard S. Ramirez in a post on Facebook. “We thank our local, state, and federal partners for their assistance in this operation.”
In addition to the DEA agents and Stafford police officers,other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies teamed up to successfully take down the illicit operation. These include the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Missouri City Police Department, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Rosenberg Police Department, ICE Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Border Patrol.
DEA agents turned the 18 illegal aliens, some of whom were hiding in the ceiling, over to ICE for removal proceedings.
Stafford is located on the southwest side of Houston along the Interstate 69 drug and human trafficking corridor.

Former sitcom star Justine Bateman ripped the mayors of Chicago and Los Angeles for wasting their time on MSNBC instead of actually doing their job and governing their cities and she had especially pointed words for L.A.’s chief executive.
Bateman responded to a video from the far-left cable network posted by L.A.’s embattled, left-wing Mayor Karen Bass which featured Chicago extremist mayor Brandon Johnson and Bass, both invited on the air to attack President Donald Trump’s emphasis on crime.
Both claimed that the president was “sowing fear” in their cities, among other absurd criticisms. But the appearance disgusted the former Family Ties star, who blasted Mayor Bass, writing on X, “For the love of God, can you just do your job?”
“Can you attend to the city of Los Angeles?”Bateman added. “What are you doing on national news shows?”
“Unless you’re running for President, we don’t see the purpose.Use your time instead to fill our potholes, deal with the city’s crime, get the reservoirs filled for the next fire, get the @LAFD off-line trucks fixed, etc.” Bateman added.
“There’s no end to how you should be using your time, @MayorOfLA,” the actress concluded.
Bateman has been on a tear against incompetent Democrats in general and those in California in particular ever since the covid failures became crystal clear.
Early this year, for instance, ==Bateman pointed out that Californians are learning what happens when voters
elect Democrats, and the fires across the Los Angeles area were a particular example==.
“If you are going to run a city or run a state, you have to take care of the basics. And that’s make sure that your fire and your police department are well funded,” Bateman said to Fox News. “Make sure that you have, not only you have plans if there are emergencies in your area you’ve rehearsed them, but also you have plans to mitigate the problems that you know are going to happen in that area. And for us, it’s fire, earthquake, rain, and consequent mudslides. And if you’re not doing everything you can to take care of those problems if they arise, then GET OUT [of office]. You are useless to us!”
“If you can’t cover the basics, get out of our city! You are useless to us, you are a liability and you have destroyed people’s lives, because you didn’t do your job,” she added. “You didn’t do what you were hired for, you didn’t do what we pay you for, and you should resign out of shame and responsibility for the people whose lives you destroyed right now.”

Texas Representative Sues Newsom Over California Redistricting

A congressman from Texas isasking a federal judge to block a retaliatory move by California to wipe out Republican congressional gainsthe Trump administration hopes to secure through Texas’ controversial mid-decade redistricting.
California’s response to Texas in the form of aconstitutional amendment election is “plainly unconstitutional and retaliatory,” Rep. Ronny Jackson (R)said in a lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
If California succeeds, Jackson says it will dilute his power as a Republican member in the House and leave him vulnerable to losing his chair on two subcommittees. Jackson filed the lawsuit in his hometown Amarillo, Texas, a single-judge division in the Northern District of Texas. The case is assigned to Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, an appointee of President Donald Trump favored by conservative litigants.
The tit-for-tat between the two large states could determine which party controls the House after the 2026 midterm elections.The challenge filed Aug. 29 comes days after California Gov. GavinNewsom (D) signed legislation on Aug. 21 initiating a statewide election in Novemberon adopting a temporary Congressional map.
The move follows Trump persuading Texas lawmakers to approve a new map projected to give Republicans five additional Congressional seats.Texas’ map, which Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed into law Aug. 29, is being challenged in a different federal court on the basis that it takes into account the racial makeup of voters.
Jackson, a physician, held the title of Physician to the President under the Obama Administration and the first Trump Administration. He joined Congress in 2021.

Giuliani’s Lady Friend Pushed Trump to Give Him Presidential Medal of Freedom

Rudy Giuliani’s close female companion led the bizarre push to award the disbarred lawyer the highest honor in the country.
Maria Ryan, 59—who has denied being Giuliani’s girlfriend—wrote to then-President Trump during his first term, urging him to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the 81-year-old ex-New York City mayor, according to Giuliani biographer Andrew Kirtzman.
The letter was reportedly intercepted by Bernard Kerik, who was working as Giuliani’s adviser at the time, the New York Times reported. Ryan finally got her wish after Trump announced Sunday on Truth Social that he would consider Giuliani for the medal, which is regarded as the highest honor in the country.
Ryan, a nurse practitioner and former hospital administrator in New Hampshire, accompanied Giuliani, 81, to a minor league baseball game in New Hampshire hours before he was involved in a car accident Saturday evening that left him with a fractured vertebra, per WMUR.
Giuliani later praised Ryan for overseeing his medical care. “Thank you to @MariaRyanNH who is a board certified nurse practitioner overseeing the care of America’s Mayor . (Nurse practitioners do everything a doctor does except surgery)” he wrote.
Ryan has been one of Giuliani’s biggest champions and closest confidants of late. After Joe Biden won the election in 2020, Ryan sent an email to the Trump campaign requesting that Giuliani be paid $20,000 per day in compensation for his contributions, as Giuliani admitted in 2021.
Giuliani defended Trump in multiple lawsuits and stoked debunked conspiracies about election fraud. Giuliani unsuccessfully attempted to declare bankruptcy, and in 2024, he was disbarred as a lawyer in New York and Washington D.C. for his defamatory claims about election fraud.

Dating rumors between Giuliani and Ryan were fueled after the release of recordings of Giuliani discussing the nature of their relationship. But she can’t leave her family, including her husband,” he reportedly said. Both Ryan and Giuliani have vehemently denied the allegations that they were ever romantically involved.
