Xi Unveils Nuclear Triad In Military Parade Challenging West, Alongside Putin & Kim

Chinese leader Xi Jinping's massive military parade in Tiananmen Square marking the end of World War II, and attended by world leaders, mostly notably so-called 'pariahs' Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea's Kim Jong Un, hasn't disappointed - and even elicited a quick response from President Trump.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping declared that China's rise is "unstoppable" and showcased over 10,000 troops marching in perfect synchronicity - and a notable lack of 'diversity' so elevated in the West - along with hundreds of advanced weapons. Most notably, Xi also for the first time showcased the PLA military's land, sea, and air-based nuclear force - a complete and deadly triad.

The whole thing was also an opportunity to prove to the world that the process of modernizing the world's largest standing army is well underway and that there are growing ties - or a "special relationship" even - between China and other major nuclear armed powers Russia and North Korea.

Xi's opening speech featured the words, "Humanity is again faced with a choice of peace or war, dialogue or confrontation, and win-win outcomes or zero-sum games."

German Elections Thrown Into 'Immense Chaos' After Wave Of AfD Deaths Rises To Seven

German elections in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia have been thrown into chaos ahead of a Sept. 14 election - after a spate of candidates for Germany's right-wing AfD have died in recent weeks - with the total now at seven. And while local authorities say there is no evidence of foul play, officials are now scrambling to shred and reprint ballots as campaigns for the deceased have been suspended.

According to Welt, Hans-Joachim Kind, 80, a direct candidate in the Kremenholl district, died of natural causes. There has been no cause of death disclosed for four other candidates in the region that has a population of 18 million - as police told Germany's DPA news agency that the initial four were either from natural causes, or were not being divulged for over privacy concerns.

Two reserve candidates died following the initial four, followed by the death of Kind. The reserve candidates were René Herford, who had a pre-existing liver condition and died of kidney failure, and Patrick Tietze, who committed suicide.

Now, ballots must be reprinted and successors appointed, causing what WELT described as "immense chaos."

AfD co-leader Alice Weidel reposted a claim by retired economist Stefan Homburg that the number of candidates' deaths was "statistically almost impossible."

AfD deputy state chairman in North Rhine-Westphalia, Kay Gottschalk, told WELT, that "We will, of course, investigate these cases with the necessary sensitivity and care," however there is "no indication" that this is "murder or anything similar," as some of the deceased had "pre-existing medical conditions."

The party - which Germany's domestic spy agency classified as a 'right-wing extremist organization' in May, grew to Germany's second-largest in February's federal elections, before pausing that description due to an appeal pending in court.

IAEA Discovers Traces Of Depleted Uranium At Syrian Sites Bombed By Israel

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has detected uranium traces in Syria during inspections of a site Israel destroyed in 2007, according to a confidential report circulated to member states this week.

The samples, taken last year from one of three unnamed sites "allegedly functionally related" to Deir Ezzor, contained a large quantity of natural uranium particles, the report seen by Reuters said.

It explained that the particles were of anthropogenic origin, meaning, though not enriched, they had undergone chemical processing.

The report said Syrian authorities told inspectors they had "no information that might explain the presence of such uranium particles," while confirming that the current government granted the IAEA renewed access to the site in June to collect further samples.

IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi met Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa the same month. The report states that "Syria agreed to cooperate with the Agency, through full transparency, to address Syria’s past nuclear activities."

Grossi asked for Syrian help to return to Deir Ezzor "in the next few months" to review documentation and interview those linked to earlier projects.

The nuclear watchdog said it intends to proceed with visits to Deir Ezzor and will evaluate results from other environmental samples.

"Once this process has been completed and the results evaluated, there will be an opportunity to clarify and resolve the outstanding safeguards issues related to Syria's past nuclear activities and to bring the matter to a close," the report noted.

Trump FTC Takes Action Against Pornhub Over Child Sexual Abuse Material.

President Donald J. Trump‘s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced on Wednesday that it will join Utah in a settlement action and consent order against a number of adult content websites, including Pornhub and RedTube. The Utah Attorney General’s office and the FTC contend the websites “deceived users by doing little to block tens of thousands of videos and photos featuring child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and nonconsensual material (NCM) despite claiming that this content was ‘strictly prohibited.'”“Pornhub’s operators turned a blind eye to the proliferation of videos depicting the sexual abuse of children on its sites so it could profit off this exploitation,” the FTC’s Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Christopher Mufarrige, said in a statement. He continued: “Under the order we’re announcing today, Pornhub’s operators will be required to take concrete steps to block this harmful content and ensure that those who appear in videos on their sites are consenting adults.”FTC Commissioner Melissa Holyoak accused the adult content websites of having “inflicted grave harm on children and nonconsenting adults by promoting and distributing truly horrific material online.” She added: “As today’s complaint and proposed order make clear, the FTC will use every tool in its arsenal to stop such outrageous conduct.”The proposed settlement and consent order take direct action against Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo—formerly known as MindGeek—which operates more than 100 pornographic photo and video-streaming websites. Among Aylo’s largest pornographic website properties are Pornhub, YouPorn, and RedTube, which boast hundreds of millions of monthly visitors in the United States alone.Utah and the FTC contend that Aylo “deceived users by claiming it has zero tolerance for CSAM and works to block CSAM and NCM on its sites by, among other things, taking prompt action when videos are flagged by users.” However, in reality, the company—according to Utah’s complaint—failed to take any concrete action to remove flagged content, ban uploaders of CSAM, or prevent the reupload of removed content.The settlement action and consent order impose a $15 million federal fine against Aylo, which will be suspended if the company pays a lesser $5 million fine to Utah. Additionally, Aylo will be required to no longer misrepresent its policies regarding CSAM and NCM.Other provisions include a requirement for Aylo to enact “a program to prevent the publication or dissemination of CSAM and NCM content,” a thorough verification system for those appearing in uploaded content, and to remove offending content uploaded prior to the “implementation of the CSAM and NCM prevention program.”
