Hosting Herzog, pope calls for permanent Gaza ceasefire to be reached ‘with urgency’

September 4, 2025 7:55 pm

Pope Leo XIV stressed the need for a two-state solution and a permanent ceasefire in the war in Gaza during a meeting Thursday with President Isaac Herzog at the Vatican.

During the meeting, joined by the Vatican’s political leadership, Herzog asked the pontiff to assist in efforts to free the hostages, a day before the 700th day of their captivity in Gaza, according to a statement by the President’s Residence.

Herzog also sought to reassure the Vatican over the treatment of Christians in the Holy Land and the situation in Gaza.

According to the Vatican readout, Leo expressed his hope for “a speedy resumption of negotiations so that, with willingness and courageous decisions, as well as the support of the international community, the release of all hostages can be achieved, a permanent ceasefire reached with urgency, the safe entry of humanitarian aid into the most affected areas be facilitated, and full respect for humanitarian law be ensured, together with the legitimate aspirations of the two peoples.”

He also said that “a two-state solution is the only way out of the current war.”

The pope raised the often thorny issue of relations between Israeli government offices and the Catholic Church in Israel, “with particular attention to the importance of Christian communities and their commitment, both locally and throughout the Middle East, to human and social development, especially in the areas of education, the promotion of social cohesion, and regional stability.”

Herzog “emphasized that the 48 men and women still in captivity are in immediate and grave danger, and he called for intensified international efforts to secure their release as soon as possible,” the President’s Residence statement read, adding that Herzog asked the pope to meet with hostage families.

They also discussed the global fight against antisemitism, and “the importance of protecting minorities in the Middle East – particularly Christian communities and the Druze community in Syria.”

Herzog’s office said that “the situation of Christian communities in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza” was discussed, a likely reference to consistent criticism from the Catholic Church over Israel’s policies toward Christians in Israel and the West Bank.

“This is a very important and sensitive issue,” Herzog said after the meeting. “I spoke about the wonderful communities in Israel, about the duty and need to safeguard and protect them, and I reiterated Israel’s clear commitment to freedom of religion, of worship, and of course to the development and protection of the Christian communities in the Holy Land.”

The Vatican brought up the humanitarian situation in Gaza as well.

According to Herzog, the issue “resonates strongly in the world’s media and certainly affects Israel’s relations with various countries.

I described the massive Israeli effort currently underway, which has significantly changed the situation, the facts, and the reality on the ground.”

Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Foreign Minister Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher also joined the meeting.

“The very fact that Pope Leo XIV, who has just entered his office, receives the president of the State of Israel at the Vatican is a very important statement,” Herzog said.

“It shows the great importance of the relationship between the Holy See and the State of Israel, and of course with the Jewish people. The issues at hand are extremely sensitive and weighty these very days.”

Herzog added that Israel “would be delighted” to host Leo on a visit.

The audience was the first between Leo and an Israeli head of state. Leo spoke by telephone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in July after an Israeli shell slammed into the only Catholic church in Gaza, killing three people and wounding the parish priest.

The Vatican has tried to maintain its tradition of diplomatic neutrality throughout the war, calling for the return of hostages while denouncing Israel’s attacks against civilians in Gaza.

But both Pope Francis before, and Leo since his election in May, have voiced mounting outrage at Israel’s actions in Gaza, with the late pope calling for an investigation to determine if they constituted genocide.

Leo has been stepping up his calls for a halt to the war in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led terrorists rampaged across southern Israel, murdering some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 251 hostages to Gaza.

Terror groups in the Gaza Strip are holding 48 hostages, including 47 of the 251 abducted by Hamas-led terrorists on October 7, 2023. They include the bodies of at least 26 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Twenty are believed to be alive and there are grave concerns for the well-being of two others, Israeli officials have said. Hamas is also holding the body of an IDF soldier killed in Gaza in 2014.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 63,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

Israel says it has killed over 22,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,600 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 onslaught.

Thursday’s release from the Vatican was notably longer than usual for statements about the pope’s meeting with foreign leaders, which typically offer only a few lines of information and do not give specific details about the topics discussed by the pope.

Leo and Herzog announced earlier this week that they would meet, but had disagreed publicly over whose idea the meeting was.

The presidency had issued a release on Tuesday saying Herzog would meet Leo at the pope’s invitation.

In an unusual statement later that day, the Vatican responded: “It is the Holy See’s practice to accede to requests for an audience with the pope made by Heads of State and Government; it is not its practice to extend invitations to them.”

Palestinian Child Allegedly Murdered by IDF in Gaza Turns Up Alive

4 Sep 2025 5:29

A Palestinian child who was said by a media-friendly “whistleblower” to have been murdered in cold blood by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza has turned up alive and well, living in hiding with his mother.

As Breitbart News reported in July, a military contractor named Tony Aguilar, who had been fired by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), turned against the group and was embraced by anti-Israel media.

Sen. Chris van Hollen (D-MD), a leading opponent of Israel in Congress, made Aguilar his star witness in accusing Israel of war crimes. Among those accusations: that IDF soldiers murdered a boy named “Amir.”

The claim was embraced by those seeking to discredit the GHF, which is backed by the U.S. and works with Israel to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza that is not stolen by Hamas — unlike United Nations aid.

Now, however, the claim has fallen apart, as “Amir” has turned out to be alive. Fox News reported Thursday:

A young Gazan boy dubbed “Amir,” who traveled to a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution site and was reported as having been killed by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in May, has been found alive and was hiding out with his mother.

In an exclusive interview with the boy whose real name was confirmed by the GHF to be Abdul Rahim Muhammad Hamden, but who goes by “Abboud,” the 8-year-old and his mother answered questions provided by Fox News Digital through a GHF translator, in which the pair appeared excited ahead of their planned extraction from the Gaza Strip.

Abboud and his mother, whose name is Najlaa, were safely extracted from the Gaza Strip on Thursday, though the location has not been disclosed in this reporting for their protection.

Once the false claim of the boy’s murder had been made, he was forced to hide, as Hamas had an interest in killing him.

In a statement Thursday, the GHF explained how it had identified and rescued the boy:

“We are overjoyed and deeply relieved that Abood is safe, and that this story ends in hope.

That outcome was never guaranteed and it’s thanks to the courage and persistence of our team of American heroes; veterans who never stopped working to find him and bring him to safety in the most complex environment imaginable,” said Executive Chairman Rev. Johnnie Moore.

>>23548417

“While this story ends happily, it could have ended in tragedy. Too many people, including in the press and civil society, were quick to spread unverified claims without asking the most basic questions.

The public and policy makers should ask themselves what else they have heard and believed about GHF that is also a lie. When a child’s life is at stake, facts must matter more than headlines. Thank God we were able to save him.”

Tony Aguilar, a former contractor terminated for misconduct, fabricated a story alleging that a young boy named “Amir” had been shot and killed by the IDF on May 28 after seeking aid at a GHF site.

Aguilar repeated these claims in multiple media appearances, describing in vivid and false detail the boy’s supposed last moments.

Aguilar circulated photographs of the boy across global media, knowingly misrepresenting their interaction and changing the story with each telling.

Video evidence, however, later revealed that Aguilar’s only interaction with the child was brief and dismissive, instructing him to “Go home.”

Abood returned home unharmed. But Aguilar’s lie went viral—shared by journalists, influencers, and even elected officials, putting the boy and his family in possible danger from Hamas.

GHF immediately launched a discreet search for the boy. Through trusted community relationships, the organization traced him to his extended family and ultimately to his biological mother.

His identity was confirmed through multiple methods, including biometrics and the clothing he wore the day Aguilar falsely claimed to witness his death.

The successful effort involved extensive coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Israel and regional governments, who worked with GHF to ensure Abood’s safe relocation.

The GHF has distributed over 150 million meals directly to Palestinians since launching in Gaza in May.

“In late July, when Mr. Aguilar took his lies public, he splashed photos taken of the boy across global media, knowingly misrepresenting his interaction to create a false viral story.

That publicity placed the child and his family squarely in the crosshairs of Hamas, who have benefited greatly from Mr. Aguilar’s lies and the media amplifying them.

If the boy was proven alive, it would unravel their propaganda, expose Mr. Aguilar’s lie, and discredit a narrative that Hamas has used to stoke outrage and violence,” stated GHF Spokesperson Chapin Fay in a press conference today.

Drone strike near Syria's Aleppo airport kills two: security official

04 September, 2025

A Syrian security official said a drone strike near Aleppo airport on Thursday killed two people, with state media reporting the attack but without saying who may be behind it.

According to news agency AFP, a vaporised car near the airport in Syria's north was witnessed, with shrapnel scattered around it.

Official news agency SANA reported that "a drone targeted a civilian car on the road to Aleppo International Airport".

Citing the health ministry, it added that at least one person was killed.

Ali al-Youssef, an official with the interior ministry's security forces, told AFP that "two people who were in the car" were killed.

It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack.

Both Israel and a US-led coalition have carried out repeated drone strikes in Syria, but there was no immediate comment from either of them.

The coalition has often struck northern Syria targeting Islamic State (IS) group members.

In August, Syrian state television said coalition forces killed a senior IS leader in Atme, northwest Syria.

Unidentified drones entered Polish airspace on September 3, reports Poland

Thu, September 04, 2025 - 17:43

Polish airspace was violated by two drones, but they were not shot down due to lack of threat. The incident occurred on the night of September 3, Reuters reports.

"We had two airspace violations," said General Maciej Klisz, Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces.

According to him, these two violations were under full control of the national forces and units assigned to the state defense system.

At the same time, General and Chief of the General Staff of Poland Wiesław Kukuła said that the drones left Polish airspace without causing any damage.

The Polish army did not provide details about where exactly the drones violated the country's airspace.

Poland is in a state of heightened readiness regarding objects entering its airspace.

Attention to such objects had to be increased after the incident in 2022, when an unidentified missile fell on the Polish village of Przewodów, killing two people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland stated that the Russian drone, which fell on August 20 in a field in Lublin Voivodeship, could have flown in from Ukraine.

The prosecutor who investigated the incident then said that the drone might have been launched from Belarus.

As is known, on August 20 a drone fell onto a cornfield in the village of Osiny in Poland. The drone exploded after the fall, with no casualties reported.

Law enforcement is investigating this incident in detail, relying on the drone fragments and other evidence.

Poland leaned toward the version that it was a Russian Shahed drone that exploded at that time.

In connection with this, a few days after the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland sent a note of protest to Russia.

North Korea tests underwater nuke drones for Kim Jong-un 'radioactive tsunami'

13:31, 04 Sep 2025

Kim Jong-un plans to unleash a "radioactive tsunami" after he was seen inspecting underwater nuclear drones testing.

The country's military has ordered its East Sea Fleet to carry out nuclear-armed underwater drones on a trial basis after Kim stressed the importance of equipping the navy with nuclear capabilities.

The move is said to be preparation for full-scale deployment. A military source has told Daily NK that a government agency has ordered the military to prepare the "Haeil" (tsunami) underwater attack drone.

Since late last month, a mad laboratory for underwater weapons at the country’s Academy of National Defence Science has been collabing with naval units to initiate trial drone operations in the field.

“The Haeil – that’s the craft they want to deploy with certain squadrons in the East Sea Fleet – is a large torpedo-type drone that’s about 13 meters long and 1.5 meters in diameter,” the source said.

“It’s considered an underwater weapon system capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. But its technical combat specifications, as well as whether it will actually be nuclear-armed, will need to be reviewed during trial operations.”

North Korea has already conducted several tests of the Haeil since 2023 and have described the drone as a weapon which can secretly approach enemy vessels or ports before destroying them with a “radioactive tsunami” produced by an underwater explosion, reports the Daily Star..

It remains uncertain whether or not the drones are currently actually powerful enough to produce the “super-scale radioactive tsunami” described by Pyongyang.

“While it’s uncertain how effective Haeil would be in actual combat, the authorities regard it as both a strategic ‘ace in the hole’ and a means of infiltrating enemy strongholds to exact nuclear retribution,” the source added.

“There’s a general feeling in the military that simply acquiring a weapon that can detonate underwater in key locations represents a show of naval force, which has raised hopes and boosted confidence.”

North Korea is also feared to be building its largest ever warship after the emergence of chilling new satellite imagery earlier this year.

Images picked up by Maxar Technologies suggest this could be the isolationist country’s largest and most technologically advanced warship in its fleet, raising concern about the progression and development of North Korea’s potential offensive force.

It comes after a secret military base was uncovered on North Korea's border with China which could be home to world-ending missiles.

The base, which is in North Pyongan Province, is 17 miles from the Chinese border. The existence of the structure was exposed by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in a paper published in August.

It's thought the covert site was built in 2004, but was used as an operational military site around 10 years later.

Using a mix of satellite imagery and declassified documents, CSIS was able to expose the site as a military base, which is thought to harbour six to nine warhead-wielding ICBMs.

The site, which is around the size of JFK airport in New York, could also hold launchers and the trucks that have been adapted to transport them.

Analysts have warned the site is especially dangerous because there are no launch pads or air-defence systems.

They believe this means the site contains solid-fuel ICBMs which can be launched far more quickly than their counterparts.

It means they're difficult to detect and even harder to carry out a pre-emptive strike.

Drones Blast AC/DC To Protect Farms From Wolves

September 4, 2025

Some parts of the country are using loud drones to scare away wolves to protect livestock.

Some of the most effective measures have been playing AC/DC 'Thunderstruck,' the sound of fireworks, or human yelling to scare off the predators.

The method has been used recently in California and Oregon, and other places are taking notice. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is working to reduce the number of wolf-related incidents with livestock.

They are able to locate the wolves even in poor visibility by using thermal cameras.

Wolf Depredations Of Livestock Increase In Wisconsin

For the past few years, wolf kills have increased, and more incidents have been occurring.

Wolves are a federally protected animal, and they have no natural predator. 87 animals, including cattle, domestic livestock, and dogs, were killed in 2024. That's up from 69 in 2023 and 49 in 2022.

Minnesota Had Even More Wolf Incidents With Livestock

In 2024, Minnesota had 136 animals killed by wolves. That's the highest number since they started keeping track in the 1980s.

Farmers have been paid out a total of $188,000 for their losses in 2024.

Is It Legal To Harass A Gray Wolf?

In Minnesota, you are legally allowed to harass a wolf if it comes within 500 yards of people, buildings, dogs, livestock, pets, or other animals.

Any harassment that results in physical injury to the gray wolf is prohibited.

Should The Drones Be Used In Minnesota + Wisconsin?

Some Minnesota and Wisconsin Farmers are struggling with wolf depredations, and this could be a non-lethal option, considering we have a considerable amount of livestock being lost each year.

We'll have to wait and see if the drone plan works over time.

Scientists develop breakthrough drone swarm system

4 September 2025

Scientists from our Computer Science department have created a new system that allows groups of drones to fly together more quickly and safely than ever before.

The technology, called T-STAR, gives drones the ability to work as a coordinated swarm, adapting their flight paths in real time to avoid collisions and keep moving efficiently towards their goals.

Flying in formation

Drone swarms are widely seen as the future of robotics, with potential uses ranging from search and rescue to environmental monitoring and even parcel delivery.

But until now, drones have often had to choose between flying quickly and staying safe when navigating through cluttered or unpredictable environments.

The T-STAR system changes this, allowing drones to combine both speed and safety.

How it works?

Instead of relying on rigid pre-set routes, T-STAR enables drones to share information with each other as they fly.

This means each drone knows where its neighbours are and can instantly adjust its path if a potential conflict arises.

In practice, this allows the swarm to move more like a flock of birds, with each drone keeping a safe distance while still flying at high speeds.

Tests carried out in both computer simulations and laboratory experiments have shown that drones using T-STAR complete their tasks in less time than those using conventional methods.

They also maintain smoother flight paths and avoid the sudden stops or slowdowns that typically affect drone swarms when navigating obstacles.

Real world impact

This innovation could open the door to new uses of drone swarms in real-world scenarios.

Faster, safer, and more reliable drones could help save lives in emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, or wildfires, where quick action is vital.

They could also support large-scale monitoring of forests and farmland or improve delivery systems by enabling groups of drones to work together efficiently.

Autonomous drone inspections launched by National Grid

04 Sep 2025

The system will deploy sees.ai's technology and will see drones flying Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) close to live power infrastructure, piloted from a central control room.

Drones will be used to capture images and data of National Grid’s infrastructure, primarily pylons and cables.

This data will then be used to help inform National Grid’s maintenance and investment programmes across its transmission network in England and Wales.

Automised asset inspection using drones is expected to deliver significant benefits, including increased speed, efficiency and consistency of data processing, as well as reducing the risk and environmental impact of manual data capture.

In a statement, Kathryn Fairhurst, overhead line operations director at National Grid said: “This rollout underscores our commitment to use innovative technologies to manage and upgrade our network.

By handling non-intrusive inspection tasks, this technology enables our highly skilled line workers to focus more efficiently on the complex, hands-on work that requires human expertise, and will form an important part of how we continue to manage our assets and deliver a safe and reliable network.”

National Grid said it is committed to using new technology to help maintain and upgrade its network.

This latest development builds on close collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority, whose October 2024 policy concept enabled drones to fly beyond the visual line of sight of remote pilots at low heights close to infrastructure or near buildings where there is little or no potential for any other aircraft to be operating.

John McKenna, CEO at sees.ai said: “National Grid's willingness to invest in and deploy emerging technologies demonstrates the kind of forward-thinking approach that will be essential for utilities worldwide as we navigate the energy transition.

This contract validates the maturity of our technology. It shows what’s possible when infrastructure, innovation, and regulation align to support long-term energy goals.”

U.S. Marines and Sailors Train and Experiment with Emerging Drone Technology in Okinawa

4 Sep 2025

From Aug. 11 to 22, 2025, U.S. Marines and Sailors with 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, trained with, integrated, and expanded their use of small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS).

For the first time, Marines flew untethered sUAS over an Okinawa-based, Marine Corps installation.

This aligns directly with the Secretary of Defense’s drone modernization guidance, released July 10, 2025, which prioritizes training with autonomous capabilities, leaning into adaptability, and pursuing joint-force integration with these emerging technologies.

“The Marines and Sailors with 4th Marine Regiment are getting use to utilizing and innovating with technology that we haven’t used in the past,” said Capt. Wesley Pond, Regimental Assistant Air Officer, 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division and lead planner of the sUAS and autonomous, unmanned ground vehicle (A-UGV) training on Camp Schwab.

“We are helping them to see new things, new ways to find an adversary and new ways of moving about the battlespace.”

The Marines and Sailors attended a course with the Skydio X2D sUAS to sustain their proficiency with the system.

This in-depth training allowed some servicemembers to receive an additional Military Occupational Specialty as sUAS operators after they completed all the required training objectives.

The Marines in the course were able to take their increased proficiency in sUAS employment back to their unit to better integrate the systems in future training evolutions.

“Marines of any rank are encouraged to participate in the courses in order to receive the qualifications to operate group one UAS,” said Pond.

“This in total increases the Marine Corps’ combat effectiveness by having capable Marines, of any MOS, at the ready to operate drones in any situation.” "We will continue to push the metaphorical football down the field and keep getting better.

We are going to field the Marines with the weapons and the systems they need to enhance their lethality, to go confidently into the next battlespace and know they are walking into a fight that they are well prepared for."

said Capt. Wesley Pond, Regimental Assistant Air Officer, 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division and lead planner of the sUAS and autonomous, unmanned ground vehicle (A-UGV) training on Camp Schwab.

The Marines and Sailors with 4th Marine Regiment refined shared procedures for experimental methods of extracting an emergency casualty via the Mission Master.

This A-UGV platform can assist with tactical transport, resupply, and casualty evacuation, reducing danger to dismounted troops across a wide range of missions, including high-risk situations.

“This is the first time our corpsmen in the 4th Marines Regimental Aid Station have had the opportunity to train with and use an autonomous system as a CASEVAC platform,” said U.S. Navy Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman David Long, senior enlisted leader, 4th Marines Regimental Aid Station.

In this training scenario, the Mission Master was used to carry wounded servicemembers out of harm’s way on the battlefield, enabling the Corpsmen to quickly and tactically bring the casualty behind friendly lines.

“This takes a huge load off the humans that would previously have to physically carry that casualty on a litter a long distance or we would have to use a large, loud tactical vehicle,” said Long.

“It also allows us to provide treatment enroute to the casualty collection point for follow-on care. This capability has the potential to help us save lives and quickly return more Marines back to the fight.”

As the future of warfighting continues to evolve, 4th Marine Regiment continues to modernize as well.

“This training demonstrates the 4th Marine Regiment’s commitment to train as we fight and to compete with adversary capabilities now,” said U.S. Marine Corps Col. Richard Barclay, commanding officer, 4th Marine Regiment.

“Training isn’t just about preparing for a future fight but maintaining a decisive edge in the current operating environment.

What Capt. Pond, the 3d Marine Division, and Marine Corps Installations Pacific team have achieved is just the start of much more work to be done within the realms of sUAS and UGV training.”

Kennedy calls for better inspection of foreign seafood sold in the US: “The shrimp was radioactive”

Sep 04 2025

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) delivered the following remarks on the U.S. Senate floor:

“Mr. President, this is a photograph of the alien from the movie ‘Alien.’ This is what you could end up looking like if you eat some of the raw frozen shrimp being sent to the U.S. by other countries. Now, let me tell you what I am talking about.

“In late August, the FDA found that raw frozen shrimp from Indonesia was being sold in Walmart—specifically, in Walmart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia. It was being sold under the Walmart label called the Great Value label.

“If you eat it, how could you end up looking like the alien in ‘Alien’? Because the shrimp was radioactive. I kid you not. It had a radioactive isotope in it called cesium-137.

It will kill you. Even if it doesn’t turn you into the alien if you eat this stuff, I guarantee you will grow an extra ear. That was bad enough. Obviously, the FDA issued a recall.

“A few days later, it happened again. The FDA and NOAA, which I will talk about in a second, found that there were 26,460 packages of shrimp cocktail and 18,000 bags of frozen cooked shrimp being sold, once again, at Walmart and at Kroger’s throughout the U.S., containing the same radioactive isotope.

“How could this happen in America? This is unconscionable.

“I will tell you how, because that shrimp—that shrimp from other countries, which don’t abide by the same rules that we abide by in America, which, if you eat it, may turn you into the alien or, at a minimum, will cause you to grow an extra ear—is not being inspected.

It is supposed to be. It is supposed to be inspected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric [Administration]—we call it NOAA. It’s part of the Department of Commerce.

“And, yes, they are inspecting some of it, about 1 percent; on a good day, 2 percent. The United Kingdom inspects 50 percent of the farmed seafood coming into its nation.

Even China does a better job than the United States of America. This is unconscionable. There is no excuse for it. There is no excuse for it.

“This shrimp—and I am not just picking on Indonesia; it is other countries. This shrimp is grown in conditions that you can’t possibly imagine. Dirty water.

They shoot the shrimp full of antibiotics. I confess, I didn’t know they were shooting them full of this radioactive isotope.

But the normal antibiotics that they put in these foreign shrimp are bad enough that if you eat enough of the foreign shrimp, you become resistant to certain bacteria here in America because the antibiotics don’t work on it anymore because you have eaten so many shrimp that contain the antibiotics.

“This is unconscionable, and it should not be happening in the United States of America.

“Now, I am biased. I believe in homegrown Louisiana shrimp, fresh out of the Gulf, not radioactive. But I understand that some stores prefer to buy foreign shrimp because it is cheaper. Now we know why: The damn stuff is radioactive.

“NOAA needs to do a better job of inspecting the shrimp that is sold from other countries that don’t abide by the same standards we do to the consumers of the United States of America.”

Special Forces Captain: 300ft UFO Hovered Over Nuke Base

September 3, 2025

A former Army Special Forces intelligence officer has revealed details of an extraordinary UAP encounter that occurred over one of America’s most sensitive military installations, exposing troubling gaps in how the Pentagon handles such reports.

According to an interview on Reality Check with Ross Coulthart, Captain Caison Best witnessed a massive unidentified object hovering over Cheyenne Mountain on February 15, 2022, just one week before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Best’s credentials distinguish him from typical UAP witnesses.

As reported during the interview, he is a West Point graduate, Army Ranger, and Special Forces officer who commanded 65 intelligence personnel as a military intelligence detachment commander for the 10th Special Forces Group at the time of the sighting.

His background includes top-secret clearances and extensive experience with military aircraft and surveillance systems, making his testimony particularly credible.

According to Best’s detailed account, they observed “a massive, perfectly still, elliptical object” approximately 300 feet in length hovering motionless over Cheyenne Mountain Complex.

The object appeared white in color with uniform pentagonal panels that resembled “mother of pearl or white ceramic,” and displayed no visible means of propulsion while remaining completely silent.

Most remarkably, the object vanished instantaneously after at least 30 seconds of observation by all five witnesses.

The location amplifies the significance of this encounter. Reference materials indicate that Cheyenne Mountain Complex, built between 1961 and 1966 at a cost equivalent to $1.5 billion today, serves as NORAD’s alternate command center.

The facility can withstand a 30-megaton nuclear blast and sits 2,000 feet inside solid granite, designed to protect North America’s aerospace defense operations.

This is where nuclear warfare would be coordinated and where threats to North American airspace are monitored around the clock.

Best eventually reported the incident to AARO (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office), the Pentagon’s official UAP investigation office.

According to his account, AARO’s response was shockingly unprofessional. After waiting months for a reply, Best received what he described as a brief message with typos that simply said “THX-AARO.”

Having worked with multiple intelligence agencies and Department of Defense organizations, Best characterized this response as “shockingly unprofessional and unlike any other experience I’d had prior.”

AARO’s analysis concluded that Best and his team had witnessed a surveillance balloon, specifically a PTID system. This explanation fails under scrutiny, as Best noted he had observed these balloons “hundreds of times” during deployments.

The object they witnessed was notably larger than typical surveillance balloons, exhibited different behavior, and most critically, vanished instantaneously rather than slowly descending as tethered balloons do.

AARO internally nicknamed the encounter the “Crystalline Potato,” according to Best’s testimony.

The contrast with other agencies’ responses proved telling.

According to Best’s account, when he connected with FBI investigators through Americans for Safe Aerospace, they conducted formal interviews, brought in sketch artists, and interviewed multiple witnesses including the geospatial intelligence specialists who were present during the sighting.

Americans for Safe Aerospace, founded by former Navy pilot Ryan Graves, has become what the organization describes as the world’s largest UAP organization by membership, primarily serving pilots and veterans.

This case raises uncomfortable questions about institutional competence and priorities.

While AARO, specifically created to investigate UAPs, provided dismissive responses with basic grammatical errors, the FBI conducted thorough investigations treating the matter as a legitimate national security concern.

AARO’s current director, Jon Kosloski, has acknowledged what he terms a “geographic bias” in receiving reports near national security sites, admitting they need to “build a baseline for reference” to understand normal activities near such facilities.

The timing of Best’s encounter during heightened geopolitical tensions mirrors historical patterns.

Reference to previous incidents shows similar objects have appeared during other sensitive moments, including over Australia’s Northwest Cape facility during the 1973 Middle East crisis when the United States went to DEFCON 2 (ready for nuclear action).

Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Christopher Mellon has noted that “hundreds of credible military reports remain unexplained and are continuing to pour in,” emphasizing that “the public needs to understand why it is imperative to continue to aggressively investigate UAP for both national security and science.”

Best’s case illuminates fundamental questions about transparency, institutional competence, and national security preparedness when unknown objects operate with apparent impunity over America’s most sensitive facilities.
