All the Water on Planet Earth

How much of planet Earth is made of water? Very little, actually. Although oceans of water cover about 70 percent of Earth's surface, these oceans are shallow compared to the Earth's radius. The featured illustration shows what would happen if all of the water on or near the surface of the Earth were bunched up into a ball. The radius of this ball would be only about 700 kilometers, less than half the radius of the Earth's Moon, but slightly larger than Saturn's moon Rhea which, like many moons in our outer Solar System, is mostly water ice. The next smallest ball depicts all of Earth's liquid fresh water, while the tiniest ball shows the volume of all of Earth's fresh-water lakes and rivers. How any of this water came to be on the Earth and whether any significant amount is trapped far beneath Earth's surface remain topics of research.

NASA’s Voyager 1 Just Survived 50,000°C in Deep Space — Here’s What Happened

September 6, 2025

In a finding that’s as strange as it is fascinating, NASA’s Voyager 1 has entered a region just beyond the heliopause where temperatures skyrocket to an estimated 50,000°C, and yet—against all odds—it’s still functioning.

The details come from a newly highlighted NASA dataset, originally featured by WION News, showing how the nearly 50-year-old probe is surviving what some scientists are now calling a kind of interstellar “firewall” — a turbulent, high-energy boundary at the farthest edge of our solar system.

A Mysterious Hot Zone Beyond The Heliopause

Located just beyond the heliopause — the boundary that separates the solar wind from the interstellar medium — Voyager 1 has detected unexpectedly high temperatures in an environment once thought to be relatively stable.

This newly discovered zone reaches between 30,000 and 50,000 degrees Celsius, despite the fact that there is no air or material dense enough to support combustion.

The spacecraft doesn’t detect heat in the way that humans or traditional thermometers do. Instead, its sensors measure charged particles and plasma waves, which are then translated into temperature estimates.

The extreme readings are believed to be caused by energetic particles colliding near the boundary of the solar system, creating an invisible but violent region.

Particle Collisions Create A Turbulent Boundary

According to scientists, this “firewall” emerges where the solar wind — a stream of charged particles emitted by the Sun — crashes into the denser interstellar material surrounding our solar system.

Rather than dispersing smoothly, this interaction creates turbulence and accelerates particles to extreme energy levels.

This new finding is prompting researchers to re-examine existing models of how the heliosphere functions. Previously thought to be a relatively calm transition zone, the area now appears to be far more dynamic.

The recent data suggest that the interface between solar and interstellar space is not just a passive boundary, but an active region of cosmic turbulence and energetic phenomena.

Why Voyager Isn’t Melting Down

You might be wondering how Voyager 1, a spacecraft launched in 1977, is managing to stay intact in such extreme conditions.

The answer lies in the nature of space itself. Even at 50,000°C, the density of matter out there is incredibly low. Heat, as we experience it on Earth, needs molecules to transfer energy. No molecules? No burning.

So while the spacecraft is surrounded by super-energized particles, there’s just not enough of them to actually fry the electronics inside, and Voyager’s design helps too.

It wasn’t built for this exact environment, but it was engineered to be resilient. Its minimal but durable shielding is proving surprisingly capable.

Sure, it’s not invincible—the spacecraft is now operating on limited systems, with many instruments shut down to save power. But what remains active is still sending back data, which is honestly remarkable after nearly five decades in space.

Still working, still surprising us

Right now, Voyager 1 is still running on its plasma wave detector, magnetometer, and cosmic ray sensor. These remaining instruments are crucial for understanding what’s happening out there.

They’re helping scientists not only map this strange hot zone but also rethink how we model the heliosphere—the Sun’s protective bubble.

Until recently, the heliopause was thought to be relatively stable. But Voyager’s findings suggest it’s more like a churning, energetic frontier.

The kind of place that forces us to rewrite textbooks. And maybe that’s the most incredible part. Not just that Voyager’s still alive, but that it’s still teaching us things we didn’t even think to ask.

'Lake Urmia Has Become Part of History,' Report Declares as NASA Images Confirm Complete Disappearance

September 7, 2025

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a devastating confirmation of a long-forewarned environmental catastrophe, the latest satellite imagery from NASA has revealed the complete disappearance of Lake Urmia, once Iran's vibrant "turquoise jewel" and one of the largest saltwater lakes on Earth.

According to a stark report from the Iranian news outlet Ettelaat Online, the once-vast body of water in northwestern Iran has now entirely dried up, with the aerial photographs showing no remaining trace of the lake, signaling the tragic end of a 4,000-year-old ecological and cultural cornerstone.

The grim outcome, the report noted, was not unexpected. Environmental officials in Iran had issued dire warnings at the beginning of the summer, predicting that the lake would be 100 percent dry by the season's end.

NASA's stark, earth-toned images now serve as the final, indisputable evidence that this prophecy has come to pass, marking a point of no return for an ecosystem that has sustained life in the region for millennia.

Lake Urmia, situated between the West and East Azerbaijan provinces of Iran, was a natural wonder of immense significance.

As previously detailed in reports by Ettelaat Online, it once spanned approximately 5,700 square kilometers with a depth of over 10 meters, ranking it as the world's second-largest saltwater lake.

Its importance was multifaceted, playing a critical role in the region's climatology, economy, and social fabric.

It was a vital habitat for unique species, most notably Artemia urmiana, a brine shrimp that formed the keystone of the food chain for vast flocks of migratory birds, including flamingos, pelicans, and wild ducks, whose annual visits were a celebrated natural spectacle.

The lake's massive surface area also acted as a crucial climate regulator, influencing humidity and moderating temperatures across northwestern Iran.

The lake's demise has been a slow-motion disaster, driven by a combination of human activity and climatic shifts. In recent years, a perfect storm of environmental pressures has led to its drastic decline.

These include excessive water extraction from both surface and underground sources to fuel an expansion of water-intensive agriculture, the unrestrained construction of dams on the rivers that once fed the lake, and a significant reduction in regional precipitation.

The statistics charting its collapse are staggering.

>>23559828

Official data previously reported by Ettelaat Online showed that the lake's surface had shrunk by as much as 95 percent compared to its long-term average.

Its water volume, which was around 30 billion cubic meters in the 1990s, had plummeted to less than one billion cubic meters in recent years.

Iran's Deputy Head of Environmental Protection had recently described the water level as being at an "unreportable" low, stating that if it fell any further, "there will be no figure to announce, as this is the minimum possible."

He confirmed that the water volume had dropped from 2 billion cubic meters to just 0.5 billion cubic meters in the span of a single year.

The consequences of this complete desiccation are expected to be catastrophic, extending far beyond the loss of an ecosystem. The vast, exposed lakebed, now a saline desert, poses a severe threat to human health and well-being.

Environmental experts have repeatedly warned that the drying of Lake Urmia will lead to an increase in the frequency and intensity of salt storms, which can carry toxic particles over great distances, causing severe respiratory illnesses for millions of people.

Some researchers have cautioned that the complete disappearance of the lake could place between 6 and 15 million people at risk, triggering a massive wave of environmental migration as agriculture collapses and living conditions become untenable.

The economic toll of such a displacement, through damage to infrastructure and the regional economy, has been projected to reach trillions of dollars.

In the face of this escalating crisis, Iranian officials have been scrambling for solutions.

The Governor of West Azerbaijan recently confirmed that several high-level meetings were held in Tehran and that proposals for the lake's restoration had been received from a Chinese company and a joint Iranian-Chinese-Japanese consortium.

However, these late-stage efforts appear to be too little, too late.

Experts from Urmia University are also preparing a report on potential solutions, but even officials acknowledge that fundamental changes, such as altering cropping patterns and modernizing irrigation methods, are crucial and must be prioritized.

With NASA's latest images now confirming the complete vanishing of Lake Urmia, the "blue jewel" of northwestern Iran has transitioned from a living, breathing ecosystem into a stark and tragic historical landmark—a potent symbol of the devastating consequences of environmental mismanagement and climate change.

Laser connects plane and satellite in breakthrough air-to-space link

September 06, 2025

Air and space were linked together in a recent flight test by General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) and Kepler Communications where a laser system was used to communicate between a standard aircraft and a low-Earth orbit satellite.

Radio has revolutionized the world by making it possible to communicate not just across miles but light years.

It's so ubiquitous that we take it for granted, but it also has its limitations – not the least of which is that it only has limited bandwidth that can handle only so much data per second.

It's a problem that's already become acute in the field of space exploration, where reliance on antiquated radio systems means it can take days to download data that a deep space probe can collect in minutes.

For years NASA and other space agencies have been experimenting with optical communication systems that use laser beams instead of radio beams, but the technology also has great potential when it comes to terrestrial applications.

Optical communications are of particular importance for defense applications.

Where at one time soldiers and sailors made do with fluttering flags or flashes of light to send simple messages, the modern warfighter is part of a global digital network where data rushes about like water out of a firehose and satellites act as a vital link in that network.

While maintaining the sort of precise line-of-sight links required for lasers is relatively easy for ground stations, land vehicles, or warships, for aircraft in flight it definitely comes under the heading of tricky.

It's one thing to link to a distant satellite using a deep space network radio telescope with a laser transceiver installed, it's another for an airplane banking across the sky to maintain communications with a satellite in low-Earth orbit arcing towards the horizon.

To overcome this bottleneck, General Atomics used its Optical Communication Terminal (OCT) system mounted on a De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft to establish contact with a Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 0-compatible Kepler satellite in low Earth orbit.

Developed as part of SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, the 12-inch (30-cm) OCT uses a 10-watt laser that can push data at a rate of 2.5 Gbps across a distance of 2,970 nautical miles (3,417 miles, 5,500 km) and can track its satellite target at 25° per second.

However, during the test, the exchange rate appears to have peaked at about 1 Gbps.

"Our team achieved a proof-of-concept milestone," said Scott Forney, president of GA-EMS.

"The airborne OCT completed pointing, acquisition, tracking, and lock with the Tranche 0-compatible satellite, then transferred data packets to validate uplink and downlink capability.

Our OCT is designed to close a communications gap, enabling secure, robust data transfers to support tactical and operational missions."

“By pairing Kepler’s on-orbit optical capabilities with GA-EMS’ OCT, we’ve shown what’s possible when space and aviation systems work seamlessly together,” added Robert Conrad, president of Kepler US.

“This achievement builds on our milestone of establishing bi-directional space-to-ground communications with Kepler’s SDA Tranche 0-compatible satellites and reinforces how commercial space operators will be partners in delivering secure, high-throughput connectivity for the defense community and the broader commercial sector.”

Total lunar eclipse will paint the full moon blood red for over 7 billion skywatchers tonight

September 7, 2025

Tonight (Sept. 7–8, 2025), the moon will slip into Earth's shadow for a total lunar eclipse — creating a dramatic 'blood moon'.

It's completely safe to watch with the naked eye; no filters or glasses are needed. All you need to do is make sure you find the moon at the right time, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

If you live outside of the viewing area or can't make it outside to view the eclipse live, luckily you can watch the blood moon total lunar eclipse on Sept. 7 with these free livestreams, or right here at Space.com.

You can also follow along with our lunar eclipse live blog for updates, images and milestones as the eclipse unfolds.

Find everything you need to know about the total lunar eclipse with our comprehensive September 2025 total lunar eclipse guide.

Asia and Western Australia get the full show. Much of Europe and Africa will see the moon already in totality as it rises, while the Americas will miss out this time.

Altogether, over 7 billion people will be in range of at least part of the eclipse, according to Time and Date.

The eclipse runs from 11:28 a.m. EDT (15:28 GMT) to 4:55 p.m. EDT (20:55 GMT). The highlight is the unusually long 82 minutes of totality, lasting from 1:30 p.m. to 2:52 p.m. EDT (17:30 to 18:52 GMT).

This eclipse occurs just 2.7 days before the moon reaches perigee, or its closest point to Earth. That makes the moon appear slightly larger than usual, adding to the spectacle.

Viewing tips for tonight

Beat the clouds: Check your local forecast and have a nearby backup spot.

Give it time: The drama builds slowly — plan to watch before, during and after totality.

Low horizon? In parts of Europe, the moon rises already eclipsed. Pick an observing spot with a clear view of the eastern horizon.

No kit required: Binoculars help with detail, but aren't essential.

Because the moon will sit deep within Earth's umbra — the darkest part of our planet's shadow — expect a rich, dark red hue during totality.

Lunar eclipses can vary in brightness depending on Earth's atmosphere, but this one is forecast to be particularly striking.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville op-ed: Space Command coming home to Alabama

September 7, 2025

After years of political scheming by the left, President Trump is bringing Space Command (SPACECOM) headquarters back to its rightful home in Huntsville, Alabama.

This was never supposed to be about politics. After a thorough and highly competitive selection process, Huntsville was chosen as the best home for SPACECOM in 2021.

In fact, three different Air Force Secretaries – including Joe Biden’s Secretary of the Air Force, Frank Kendall – have confirmed that Redstone Arsenal is the best home for U.S. Space Command.

Unfortunately, Joe Biden made this political when he disregarded the Air Force, Government Accountability Office (GAO), and DOD’s Inspector General – who all validated the process – and announced he was keeping it to Colorado instead.

This is particularly concerning because the current location was only meant to be temporary and is spread out between four buildings, two of which are unsecure in a residential area, not even on a military base.

This is a serious national security issue and needs to be addressed. Luckily, President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have taken action to fix the problem.

It’s important to understand how we got here. In 2020, the U.S. Air Force conducted a study to determine the best site for constructing SPACECOM’s permanent home.

The process was extremely thorough and considered 66 different locations in 24 different states. Out of ALL of the options, Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville was overwhelmingly chosen as the preferred location for the headquarters in 2021.

After inauguration, Joe Biden immediately suspended the relocation and then, ultimately in 2023, went against the “best military advice” in the country and kept SPACECOM HQ in Colorado Springs.

Beyond the independent reviews that have confirmed Huntsville as the best location for SPACECOM, it’s also just common sense.

Huntsville already has the infrastructure needed to support SPACECOM, unlike Colorado Springs, which STILL has communication and personnel challenges, according to the GAO report.

Not to mention that moving HQ to Huntsville will save American taxpayers more than $420 million.

Redstone Arsenal already has a robust presence in related industry and government organizations like NASA, Missile Defense Agency, and Space Development Agency.

Additionally, Huntsville will have the housing, infrastructure, and resources needed to support all of the jobs this would bring to the state.

SPACECOM would bring at least 1,700 workers and their families to the Rocket City and would create thousands of jobs for Alabamians.

Knowing the facts, it is hard to argue that it makes sense for SPACECOM to be anywhere other than Redstone Arsenal.

The delegation has tirelessly worked in unison to reverse this disastrous political cronyism.

Thankfully, President Trump and Secretary Hegseth are putting our nation’s security first and moving SPACECOM to the place where it will be most effective and provide the most value to taxpayers.

President Trump, Secretary Hegseth, and Secretary Meink are restoring merit and integrity to the military. Space is the next frontier and will play an enormous role in future potential conflicts.

It is imperative that the United States is positioned to dominate this domain. Alabama is just the place to ensure that happens.

I’m excited to see the state and its residents realize their full potential by providing this critical capability in support of our nation.

Space-Age technology to help in return of rare butterfly

07/09/2025

A medieval castle in Lincolnshire is using Space-Age technology to create a new home for one of the UK's rarest butterflies.

The owners of Grimsthorpe Castle have equipped their English Longhorn Cattle with GPS collars as part of a grand plan to reintroduce Duke of Burgundy.

Estate managers are working with Butterfly Conservation to bring back the species, which until a few years ago could be found flying in the grounds of the estate.

Threatened species

Duke of Burgundy is one of the most at-risk butterflies in the UK. Between 1982 and 2019 its distribution across the country plummeted by 89%.

One of the main causes is loss of habitat, and specifically the loss of its main caterpillar foodplants – Cowslip and Primrose.

In the past, Duke of Burgundy could be found across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, but with changes to land use, habitat destruction and a steady increase in light pollution, the species died out.

Its last outpost in the East Midlands was, for many years, a discrete site on the Grimsthorpe Castle Estate, but even there the numbers gradually dwindled until disappearing about three years ago.

Now, with the benefit of more scientific knowledge, Grimsthorpe Castle is working with Butterfly Conservation's Lincolnshire Branch volunteers to restore the habitat to the point where Duke of Burgundy could be re-introduced.

Cattle intervention

This restoration includes targeted grazing by English Longhorn Cattle to control the grasses and scrub and allow the naturally occurring Cowslips to recolonise the area.

Cowslips will only flourish if the grasses and other plants are grazed off at the right time of the year to allow for seed setting and germination.

Jim Handley, Head of Gardens and Landscape at Grimsthorpe Castle said:

"This is an area of rugged hillside with lots of scrubby clumps which are ideal for sheltering the caterpillars as they grow in the early spring, but we couldn't possible get electric fencing up so, with a grant from Butterfly Conservation, we bought GPS controlled collars to teach our cattle to graze precise parts of the site at exactly the right time of the year.

That, combined with our estate team and volunteers pruning back the scrub and bushes, is really restoring the area to the kind of habitat the butterflies need."

The hard work is now showing signs of success.

Dr Ian Paterson from Butterfly Conservation's Lincolnshire Branch explained: "This is the third year we have been working on the site and this year we did see the cowslips beginning to reappear.

We will carry on with this work next year and the following spring we should be in a position to asses whether the site is ready to accept the first caterpillars from a Butterfly Conservation donor reserve in the south.

"The main reasons this glorious butterfly disappeared from our landscape were avoidable human changes to the environment, so there is no reason that, with love, care and a bit of science, it couldn't thrive in Lincolnshire again."

Putin and Trump ‘will prevent WWIII’ – Kremlin envoy

7 Sep, 2025 11:56

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, are bringing the end of the Ukraine conflict closer, Kirill Dmitriev, a presidential aide on international economic affairs, has said.

He added that the diplomatic efforts of the two men could prevent World War III.

Dmitriev, who is also the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the country's sovereign wealth fund, wrote on X on Saturday: “Stalin, Roosevelt & Churchill won WWII. Putin & Trump will prevent WWIII.”

He accompanied his post with a picture of the Soviet, US, and British leaders made during the historic 1945 Yalta Conference, which laid the foundations for the post-war order after the defeat of Nazi Germany.

He also pushed back against former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, who suggested that Moscow is not serious about negotiations to end the conflict and urged more Western weapons for Ukraine.

“Wrong. Peace is close precisely because of Trump-Putin dialogue. Idiotic [former US President Joe] Biden’s approaches failed.

Isolation attempts failed. Sanctions failed. Dialogue, respect, understanding each other, problem-solving to find [a] long-term solution is the way,” Dmitriev said.

Breaking a long hiatus in top-level talks between the US and Russia, Putin and Trump have held several phone conversations and met face-to-face in Alaska in mid-August.

While no ceasefire agreement was reached at the Alaska summit, the two sides praised the engagement as highly productive. Following the talks, Trump said that Ukraine cannot hope to join NATO or reclaim Crimea.

On Friday, Putin struck a cautiously optimistic tone about the prospects for ending the conflict, noting that “there is light at the end of the tunnel,” but noted that if no diplomatic solution is found, “we will have to reach all the goals through arms.”

Moscow has insisted that a sustainable resolution to the conflict is possible only if Ukraine commits to neutrality, demilitarization, denazification, and recognizes the new territorial reality on the ground.

Russia denies targeting Ukrainian government building

7 Sep, 2025 12:13

Russian forces have carried out a long-range strike on Ukrainian drone assembly facilities, as well as an industrial enterprise in Kiev, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said, adding that no other buildings were targeted. Ukraine earlier accused Russia of striking the building housing the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said the massive high-precision strike was aimed at facilities producing, repairing, and storing UAVs, as well as military airfields in the central, southern, and eastern parts of Ukraine.

Also targeted were the industrial enterprise ‘Kiev-67’ on the western outskirts of the Ukrainian capital and a logistics facility in the southern part of the city.

“The objectives of the strike have been achieved, all designated targets have been hit. No strikes have been carried out on other sites within the boundaries of Kiev,” the ministry stressed.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian officials claimed that a Russian drone had crashed into the Ukrainian government building near Independence Square, with fire engulfing its top floors.

They also claimed that the attack included more than 800 drones in total across the country. According to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, four people died and 44 were injured in the attacks.

Russia has conducted drone and missile strikes on Ukraine for months, targeting military-related facilities and its defense industry.

It has said the attacks are retaliation for Kiev’s strikes deep into Russia, which often damage residential areas and critical infrastructure. Moscow maintains that it never targets civilians.

Russian officials have also accused Ukraine of deploying air defenses in residential areas, suggesting that if Kiev were to abandon this practice, it could prevent casualties.

‘Apparently, This Is Also a Military Target’: Russian Drone Strike Kills 7 Horses at Equestrian Club Near Kyiv

Sept. 7, 2025, 2:02 pm

Seven horses were killed when a Russian drone strike hit an equestrian club outside Kyiv overnight on Sept. 7, local officials said Sunday.

The attack damaged stables and pastures at the Endurance Horse Sport Club in the Fastiv district, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

Lesia Hordiienko, deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Federation of Equestrian Tourism, said on social media that several of the horses — named Malakhita, Ra Nazran, Bosfor and Mac-Tum — had been preparing to compete in the upcoming Ukrainian Championship.

Two horses, Holi and Manuel, survived.

Hordiienko said the stable was badly shaken by the blast. “The building warped, the doors and windows were blown out,” she wrote.

“A Shahed strike hit the pastures of the horse club. Apparently, this is also a military target…”

The overnight barrage was part of a wider assault. Ukrainian officials said Russia launched 823 drones and missiles across the country on Sept. 7, with air defenses shooting down 751.

In Kyiv, debris from drones set fire to a government building and damaged residential high-rises in two districts.

Three people were killed, including a baby and the child’s mother, and at least 20 others were injured.

IDF continues strikes in Gaza City, destroys massive tunnel networks

September 7, 2025 07:47

The IDF continued airstrikes in Gaza City on Sunday, focusing on the Daraj Tuffah neighborhood northeast of the city center.

Footage from the area showed a massive explosion and extensive destruction. Palestinian sources said the targeted house belonged to the al-Nahla family and was located near a mosque.

The IDF Arabic-language spokesperson issued evacuation warnings for residents living in high-rise buildings.

On Sunday, residents were instructed to leave the al-Ruwaia building and nearby tents at the Beirut Junction and Arab League Street.

“The IDF will strike the building in the near future due to Hamas terror infrastructure inside or nearby,” the statement said.

“For your safety, you are required to evacuate immediately south toward the humanitarian area in Mawasi, Khan Younis.”

Earlier, the IDF issued another evacuation notice for the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City.

“For those who have not yet evacuated the areas of Gaza City and Jabalia as previously warned, the IDF continues to expand its operations westward. For your safety, evacuate immediately south,” the statement said.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reported that 87 Palestinians were killed and 409 were injured over the past 24 hours. Since the outbreak of the conflict, Hamas said 64,368 Palestinians have been killed and 162,776 injured in the Gaza Strip.

How NASA and physicists accidentally supported Bob Lazar’s UFO claims

Updated: Sep 07, 2025, 05:27 IST

Declassified US Navy UFO footage (Tic Tac, Go Fast, Gimbal) shows craft defying conventional physics. These visuals echoed Lazar’s descriptions decades earlier, though without direct proof

Discovery of Element 115

Lazar spoke about Element 115 in 1989 as the key UFO fuel. At the time, it didn’t exist on the periodic table. In 2003, Russian scientists created Moscovium (Element 115) in a lab, lending weight to his earlier statement.

Warp Drive Studies at NASA

NASA’s Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Program and later papers by Harold “Sonny” White explored warp field mechanics and space-time bending. These concepts closely match Lazar’s claim of UFOs bending space instead of flying through it.

Alcubierre Drive and Lazar’s “Gravity Wave”

Theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre proposed a warp bubble in 1994, five years after Lazar described UFOs generating a gravitational field to contract space ahead of them.

UFO Movements and Inertia

Military pilots have reported UFOs making sharp turns and extreme accelerations with no visible propulsion. Lazar’s explanation, gravitational manipulation shielding the craft from inertia — offers a potential match.

The Pentagon’s UFO Videos

Declassified US Navy UFO footage (Tic Tac, Go Fast, Gimbal) shows craft defying conventional physics. These visuals echoed Lazar’s descriptions decades earlier, though without direct proof.

Independent Physicists on Gravity Control

While mainstream science remains cautious, several physicists, including those studying exotic propulsion and quantum gravity have admitted Lazar’s claims align with theoretical possibilities.

Why the Debate Persists

NASA has never confirmed Lazar’s story, but modern physics accidentally overlaps with parts of it. This overlap keeps the discussion alive, whether he had insider knowledge or simply predicted scientific directions earlier than expected.

Jackie Gleason’s UFO-Inspired Florida Home Hits The Market For $5.5 Million

September 6, 2025

Hollywood eccentricity takes concrete form in Jackie Gleason’s famed UFO-shaped Florida estate, which has just hit the market for $5.5 million.

Built during the filming of The Honeymooners, the mansion has long been recognized as one of the most unusual celebrity retreats.

The residence, known as the Mothership, was imagined by Gleason as a private escape and a showpiece.

The comedian, actor, and musician, who had a fascination with UFOs and metaphysical concepts, designed the circular home in Cortlandt Manor to embody futuristic ambition.

Gleason envisioned a home that symbolized the ambition of the atomic age while preserving old-world design.

To achieve this goal, he turned to architect Robert Cika, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, who in turn recruited a Scandinavian shipbuilder to help bring the design to life.

Prefabrication work reportedly took place inside an airplane hangar before the copper-roofed structure was transported to the site in Cortlandt Manor, New York.

Assembly and finishing took five years and cost approximately $650,000, an amount partly underwritten by Gleason’s employer CBS.

Completed in 1959, the structure became one of the boldest experiments in mid-century domestic architecture.

The 3,950-square-foot main residence abandoned conventional geometry entirely. There are no right angles anywhere, with rooms shaped through flowing curves and a continuous circular plan.

Floor-to-ceiling windows line the façade, flooding interiors with daylight and creating expansive views of the surrounding Hudson Valley landscape.

A vaulted wooden ceiling evokes the interior hull of a ship, while metal vents were stylized to resemble fish forms.

Gleason went as far as purchasing an entire marble quarry in Italy, sourcing stone for the flooring and multiple fireplaces. The slabs were so large that some had to be airlifted to the site by helicopter.

The internal layout featured three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bathroom, a stainless steel circular kitchen, a dining room, and an expansive living space.

A circular library and office provided work and reading areas, while built-in cabinetry and bespoke furniture reinforced the house’s unity of form.

Many of the original custom design elements are still preserved. Three bars with dramatic curves, a marble dance floor, and a game room with shuffleboard underscored the property’s reputation as a party destination.

Late-night gatherings were said to have drawn distinguished guests like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, and President Richard Nixon.

The property spans 8.6 acres in the Hudson Valley, approximately one hour north of New York City.

Panoramic views and wooded surroundings provide a sense of seclusion.

The estate contains two supplementary residences, a smaller “spaceship” often used as a bunkhouse and glamping site, and the Barracks, a 1930s stone Colonial Revival residence that serves as a guesthouse.

The grounds also supported a cultivated vegetable and herb garden, supplemented by a gardening shed.

CBS sold the estate in 1976 for $150,000 following Gleason’s relocation to Florida. It resurfaced on the market in 2018 with an asking price of $12 million, but no transaction followed at that time.

Gleason’s show-business career was as bold as the retreat he called home. He achieved recognition in comedy, acting, writing, and music. Gleason rose to national prominence as Ralph Kramden, the bus driver in The Honeymooners.

He also created and hosted The Jackie Gleason Show, which consistently drew high ratings from the mid-1950s through 1970.

Gleason also enjoyed success as a recording artist. During the 1950s and 1960s, he released a series of mood music albums, ten of which sold over a million copies each.

His debut album, Music for Lovers Only, achieved a chart record by remaining on the Billboard Top Ten for 153 weeks. Over time, Gleason produced more than 20 singles, nearly 60 albums, and over 40 compact discs.

Seeking the Westall UFO ’truth’

07/09/2025

A researcher is leading calls for a federal inquiry to finally shed light on Australia’s best-known UFO mystery, Westall 1966.

More than 200 students and teachers at Westall primary and secondary schools were said to have witnessed up to three unidentified flying objects in broad daylight on 6 April 1966.

Multiple witnesses describe fast-moving, shimmering, silver objects that flew over the schools and disappeared behind pine trees in The Grange Reserve.

Army, Air Force, Department of Supply and police officers swarmed the scene, with students and staff saying they were ordered to never speak of what they saw.

Nearly 60 years on, there remains no official account from the authorities.

Grant Lavac, a Melbourne researcher, has initiated a petition for an independent inquiry to “uncover the truth”.

“It continues to be a fascinating unsolved cold case that has people asking questions.

“As a researcher I feel for the witnesses – for those who were children on the day – and want to know what they saw in the skies and why they were told to shut up about it.”

In the decades since, the federal defence department has resisted FOI requests to release its file on Westall 1966.

Three years ago, Lavac interviewed ex-students for his documentary The Westall Witnesses, and was struck by how genuine they were and how vivid their descriptions.

“I certainly believe that what they saw was what they were telling me.

“Obviously memories fade, but nearly 60 years later they regather every year to keep alive their memories and recollections.

“It was incredibly compelling.”

Lavac says witnesses dismissed therories that the UFOs were everyday objects like weather balloons.

“They say it wasn’t a weather balloon or hot-air balloon. It was like nothing that they’d seen before and moving in ways they couldn’t understand.”

Recently, an academic suggested they were high-tech, top-secret devices used to measure atmospheric radiation from Pacific nuclear tests.

Lavac hopes an inquiry could lead to the Department of Defence again handling reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP).

The RAAF ceased reporting protocols for UAP in 1996.

“If it’s just something as prosaic as a balloon, then why not now give the witnesses the truth?

“If it’s not prosaic, then it’s a compelling reason for the RAAF to devote resources to investigate (UAPs) in our air space which could present a national flight risk or national security risk.”

At the time, Dandenong Journal was the only newspaper to cover the event, under headlines Flying Saucer Mystery: School Silent and What was it?

The coverage featured a student’s hand drawn sketch of a round object with “a hump on top and round things underneath”, as well as interviews with students and teacher Andrew Greenwood.

It remains one of the Journal’s most sought-after stories, with requests from across the world to republish the 1966 report.

Academic and researcher Shane Ryan, who gathered more than 140 eyewitness accounts over the past two decades, has signed Lavac’s petition.

He says there is perhaps more interest than ever in what occurred that day, as well as in uncovering files at the National Archives of Australia or the relevant government departments.

“Given that most surviving witnesses involved in the incident are now in their 70s and older, it is time for a concerted effort to be made to bring the truth of the incident, whatever it was, out into the open.”

Explorers discover giant doorway hidden in the mountains and people are convinced it's 'ancient aliens'

Updated: 08:34 EDT, 7 September 2025

For centuries, humans have been scouring the universe for some kind of evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Now, social media users think it's finally been found – right here on Earth.

On Reddit, footage has emerged of explorers in front of 'a giant doorway' located in the Dzungarian Alatau mountains in Kazakhstan.

Like something from an epic movie scene, the 30-second clip shows the stunned explorers searching for a way in.

One stunned Reddit user commented that the doorway is proof of 'ancient aliens', while another asked if there's an 'alien spaceship hiding there'.

Others compared it with the 'beginning of the first Tomb Raider game' and the Doors of Durin from J. R. R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings'.

It also appears to bear similarities with the vast entrance to Jabba the Hut's palace in the Star Wars film 'Return of the Jedi'.

Millennials may also be reminded of the Temple of the Jungle King from ITV children's series 'Jungle Run'.

The clip, which was also posted to X (Twitter), was filmed at the Dzungarian Alatau mountains in Kazakhstan, close to the border with China.

At an altitude of 6,500 feet (2,000 metres) above sea level, Dzungarian Alatau is known for its rugged foothills, ridges and forts.

The footage starts with a close-up of the two male explorers making cautious steps in the snow in front of a rocky mass.

Then, the airborne camera – likely attached to a drone – gradually pans out to reveal the massive semi-circular door-like formation.

Using the height of the men as a reference, the so-called 'entrance' appears to be at least 40 feet (12 metres) in height and about as wide.

But the rock behind it seems to slope downwards significantly, suggesting any secret cave beyond would have a fairly low ceiling.

On Reddit, someone pointed out: 'looks like the ridge of rock is narrower than the 'door' is tall.'

Another added: 'I mean, you can see the other side of the ridge in the drone shot. So, like…. doorway to what, the other side of the ridge?'

Commentators speculated on the true nature of the 'doorway', which is a different shade of brown to the surrounding rock.

One user said: 'There are a ton of these kinds of formations in Southern Utah. It's the beginning of the formation of an arch, which is very naturally occurring.'

Another user replied: 'So ancient aliens.'

A Harry Potter fan added: 'Run really fast into it and see if you end up on the other side', while a gamer said: 'It’s the doorway to a Zelda dungeon!'

Another posted: 'If it actually were a door, I’ve seen enough movies to know that something unspeakable has been sealed behind it.'

More realistically, the 'doorway' could just be further evidence of 'pareidolia' – the tendency of the human mind to see patterns and symmetry.

Mark Allen, a professor at the University of Durham's department of earth sciences, said it might be 'to do with different weathering patterns of different rock layers'.

'I was in this area 38 years ago on the Chinese side of the border [and there was] nothing odd to report,' he told the Daily Mail.

The location in the clip is thought to be part of the Dzungarian Gate, a historically significant mountain pass between China and Kazakhstan.

For centuries, the more than 3,000-mile pass, also known as the Altai Gap, was used as an invasion route by conquerors from Central Asia.

Dzungarian Gate has been linked to the location of Hyperborea, the mythical land located to the far north of the known world.

According to the legend, its inhabitants, the Hyperboreans, each lived for 1,000 years in peace, free of war or disease.
