Putin and Trump ‘will prevent WWIII’ – Kremlin envoy

Peace in Ukraine is close because the two leaders are engaged in dialogue, Kirill Dmitriev has said

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, are bringing the end of the Ukraine conflict closer, Kirill Dmitriev, a presidential aide on international economic affairs, has said. He added that the diplomatic efforts of the two men could prevent World War III.

Dmitriev, who is also the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the country's sovereign wealth fund, wrote on X on Saturday: “Stalin, Roosevelt & Churchill won WWII. Putin & Trump will prevent WWIII.”

He accompanied his post with a picture of the Soviet, US, and British leaders made during the historic 1945 Yalta Conference, which laid the foundations for the post-war order after the defeat of Nazi Germany.

He also pushed back against former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, who suggested that Moscow is not serious about negotiations to end the conflict and urged more Western weapons for Ukraine.

“Wrong. Peace is close precisely because of Trump-Putin dialogue. Idiotic [former US President Joe] Biden’s approaches failed. Isolation attempts failed. Sanctions failed.Dialogue, respect, understanding each other, problem-solving to find [a] long-term solution is the way,” Dmitriev said.

Breaking a long hiatus in top-level talks between the US and Russia, Putin and Trump have held several phone conversations and met face-to-face in Alaska in mid-August. While no ceasefire agreement was reached at the Alaska summit, the two sides praised the engagement as highly productive. Following the talks, Trump said that Ukraine cannot hope to join NATO or reclaim Crimea.

On Friday, Putin struck a cautiously optimistic tone about the prospects for ending the conflict, noting that “there is light at the end of the tunnel,” but noted that if no diplomatic solution is found, “we will have to reach all the goals through arms.”

Moscow has insisted that a sustainable resolution to the conflict is possible only if Ukraine commits to neutrality, demilitarization, denazification, and recognizes the new territorial reality on the ground.

Russia Hits Ukraine Gov’t Building Amid Drone and Missile Strikes on Kyiv

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – Russia hit Ukraine’s capital with drone and missiles Sunday in the largest aerial attack on the country since the war began, killing at least two people and leaving smoke rising from the roof of a key government building.

Russia attacked Ukraine with 810 drones and decoys, Ukraine’s Air Force said.

Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for Ukraine´s Air Force, confirmed to The Associated Press that Sunday´s attack was the largest Russian drone strike since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. Russia also launched 13 missiles of various types.

Ukraine shot down and neutralized 747 drones and 4 missiles, according to a statement from the Air Force.

Hits from nine missiles and 54 drones were recorded at 33 locations across Ukraine, and the debris of shot down targets fell at eight locations, the Air Force said.

Associated Press reporters saw a plume of smoke rising from the roof of Kyiv´s cabinet of ministers building, but it was not immediately clear if the smoke was the result of a direct hit or debris, which would mark an escalation in Russia´s air campaign, which has so far spared government buildings in the city center.

The building is the home of Ukraine’s Cabinet, housing the offices of its ministers. Police blocked access to the building as fire trucks and ambulances arrived.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said two people were killed and 20 were injured in the attack.

“For the first time, the government building was damaged by an enemy attack, including the roof and upper floors,” said Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. “We will restore the buildings, but lost lives cannot be returned.”

“The world must respond to this destruction not only with words, but with actions. There is a need to strengthen sanctions pressure – primarily against Russian oil and gas,” she said.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy echoed her sentiment in an online statement. “Such killings now, when real diplomacy could have started long ago, are a deliberate crime and a prolongation of the war,” he said. He called for sanctions on Russia and for strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses.

The two people killed were a mother and her 3-month-old child, whose bodies were dug out of the rubble by rescuers, said Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s city administration. Initially Tkachenko said the child was 1 year old. At least 10 locations in Kyiv were damaged in the attack, he added….

Russia denies targeting Ukrainian government building

Moscow’s forces attacked an industrial and logistics facility in Kiev, the Defense Ministry has said

Russian forces have carried out a long-range strike on Ukrainian drone assembly facilities, as well as an industrial enterprise in Kiev, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said, adding that no other buildings were targeted. Ukraine earlier accused Russia of striking the building housing the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said themassive high-precision strike was aimed at facilities producing, repairing, and storing UAVs, as well as military airfields in the central, southern, and eastern parts of Ukraine.

Also targeted were the industrial enterprise ‘Kiev-67’ on the western outskirts of the Ukrainian capital and a logistics facility in the southern part of the city.

“The objectives of the strike have been achieved, all designated targets have been hit.No strikes have been carried out on other sites within the boundaries of Kiev,” the ministry stressed.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian officials claimed that a Russian drone had crashed into the Ukrainian government building near Independence Square, with fire engulfing its top floors. They also claimed that the attack included more than 800 drones in total across the country.

According to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, four people died and 44 were injured in the attacks.

Russia has conducted drone and missile strikes on Ukraine for months, targeting military-related facilities and its defense industry. It has said the attacks are retaliation for Kiev’s strikes deep into Russia, which often damage residential areas and critical infrastructure. Moscow maintains that it never targets civilians.

Russian officials have also accused Ukraine of deploying air defenses in residential areas, suggesting that if Kiev were to abandon this practice, it could prevent casualties.

Suspect Behind Fatal North Carolina Train Stabbing Arrested, Charged with Murder

The suspect behind a fatal stabbing on a North Carolina train,which left a Ukrainian woman dead, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to multiple reports.

Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, was reportedly “arrested and charged with first-degree murder” after Iryna Zarutska, 23 was stabbed in the throat while riding the Charlotte light rail on August 22, according to WBTV News.

Per the outlet, recently released video footage “shows the moments leading up to and following” the stabbing. In an edited video of the incident, Brown is seen sitting in a seat on the train prior to Zarutska “entering the rail car and sitting down” in front of him.

One clip from the video reportedly shows Brown “taking out a pocket knife, unfolding it, standing up, and gearing up to attack Zarutska.” Brown reportedly stabbed Zarutska “three times in the throat area before walking away.”:

The first clip shows the stabbing suspect, identified as Brown, sitting on the rail car before Zarutska boards the light rail. Brown can be seen moving around in his seat and appears to be emotional.

The next clip shows one angle of Zarutska entering the rail car and sitting down in front of Brown. The clip that follows is another angle showing Zarutska entering the rail car and sitting down.

About one minute and 30 seconds into the video, Brown can be seen taking out a pocket knife, unfolding it, standing up, and gearing up to attack Zarutska. WBTV froze that clip moments before Zarutska is stabbed.

In the full video, WBTV observed the attacker swing his arm and stab Zarutska three times in the throat area before walking away. Zarutska looked visibly shocked by the attack, falling to the floor shortly after.

Another clip from the video appears to show Brown “walk away from Zarutska and move through the rail car,” with some passengers noticing blood dripping from Brown, according to the outlet.

Brown was reportedly ordered to “remain in jail and undergo a competency evaluation,” according to the outlet.

In response to the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) releasing video footage of the incident, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles thanked “media partners and community members” for not sharing or reposting the footage “out of respect for” Zarutska’s family, according to WCNC News.

“The video of the heartbreaking attack that took Iryna Zarutska’s life is now public,” Lyles said. “I want to thank our media partners and community members who have chosen not to repost or share the footage out of respect for Iryna’s family.”

Lyles continued to express that it was a “senseless and tragic loss” and that her “prayers remain with her loved ones as they continue to grieve through an unimaginable time.”

M. Quentin Williams, a former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and federal prosecutor, explained thatBrown’s attack on Zarutska “highlights broader issues surrounding mental health and public safety.” Williams also stated that the attack “happened so quickly” that Zarutska “was not in a position to respond.”

“It happened so quickly,” Williams said. “She was not in a position to respond. He caught the most vulnerable person on the train. She was in close proximity to him, she had her back to him, she also was doing something that diverted her attention away.”

‘It’s Embarrassing’: Mark Zuckerberg Roasted After Hot Mic Picks Up Comment to Trump

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sparked a wave of mockery this week after he was caught on a hot mic suggesting to President Donald Trump he plucked a number out of his head, adding, “I wasn’t sure what number you wanted to go with.”

Zuckerberg joined Trump at a White House tech event on Thursday evening and sat next to the president. Trump asked Zuckerberg about Meta’s upcoming investments in AI infrastructure, “How much are you spending, would you say, over the next few years?”

“Oh gosh. I mean, I think it’s probably going to be something like, I don’t know, at least $600 billion through ’28 in the US,” Zuckerberg replied.

Later on a hot mic, Zuckerberg told Trump, “I’m sorry I wasn’t ready to do our– I wasn’t sure what number you wanted to go with.”

Throughout the event, Zuckerberg and the other tech titans present praised Trump and thanked him for hosting the event.

The friendly exchange between Trump and Zuckerberg is a far cry from Trump’s past rhetoric toward the tech leader, having regularly accused him of election-related crimes in the past. ” We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Trump threatened in August of 2024.

The hot mic moment quickly went viral online after it was clipped and edited together by influencers, including Acyn, and led to a bevy of criticism of the business leader for so explicitly deferring to the president.

Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) shared the clip and wrote, “It’s embarrassing how far Tech Billionaires will go to suck up to Trump. Now they are just making up numbers while screwing over the American People.”

Veteran reporter Paul Farhi added,“As June 30, Meta’s assets were valued at $295 billion. So $600 billion presupposes borrowing more than twice its book value. For one year of capital investment. It’s about the most ludicrous statement the CEO of a publicly traded company can make.”

U.S. Open Orders Broadcasters to Censor Reactions to Trump

An email obtained by Bounces includes instructions from the U.S. Open on supporting Trump's planned stagecraft during the National Anthem.

NEW YORK — Following up on the earlier news first reported by Bounces about Rolex’s invitation, I have further new information to report about the planning around presenting President Donald Trump’s appearance at the U.S. Open.

An internal email sent by the U.S. Tennis Association leadership to U.S. Open broadcasters, obtained by Bounces,requested that broadcasters censor any possible protests or other reactions to President Donald Trump’s presence at Sunday’s U.S. Open men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Here’s the key text from the USTA email obtained by Bounces:

“With respect to Broadcast Coverage, the President will be shown on the World Feed and the Ashe Court Feed during the opening anthem ceremony. We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity, including ENG [Electronic News Gathering] coverage.”

The USTA’s plan to show Trump during the anthem, one of the noisiest and bombastic portions of Sunday’s events, is already an effective way to insulate Trump from likely booing. But the preemptive instructions outlined by the USTA in this email—asking broadcasters to censor and avoid any possible protest or negative crowd reaction to Trump for television audiences watching around the world—is further complicity in broadcasting Trump’s desired stagecraft for his first appearance at the U.S. Open in a decade.

The email also attached the USTA’s US Open social media policy, as well as “talking points and additional facts regarding the President’s visit.” The only attached “talking point,” however, was just a statement that “President Trump is planning to watch the US Open Men’s Singles Final from a suite as a sponsor guest.”

As previously first reported on Bounces, that unnamed sponsor is Rolex, the Swiss watchmaker which may be looking to curry favor with Trump during his visit to their luxury suite in hopes of lowering the high tariffs he has imposed on imports from Switzerland.

(Rolex PR has still not replied to Bounces’inquiry about its motivations for inviting Trump to its U.S. Open suite.)

“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” the USTA email to broadcast personnel concludes, adding that any further questions can be brought either to the USTA Television’s managing director Patti Fallick or director of broadcasting Dayna Navatta.

If the crowd reacts anything like they did when Trump last appeared at the U.S. Open 10 years ago, he will be boisterously booed.

Though Trump being shown on the large video screens around Ashe would make for the most obvious occasion for booing or other dissent to erupt, U.S. Open attendees are also capable of chanting or booing in protest of Trump at other times of the match, which may be unavoidable for broadcasters to successfully censor if they cause any significant disruption to the match.

Chinese Hackers Pretended to Be a Top U.S. Lawmaker During Trade Talks

FBI is investigating a scheme to spy on trade groups using fake emails from China committee chair Rep. John Moolenaar

As the Trump administration’s contentious trade talks with China were set to begin in Sweden last July, staffers on the House committee focused on U.S. competition with China began to get puzzling inquiries, according to people familiar with the matter.

Several trade groups, law firms and U.S. government agencies had all received an email appearing to be from the committee’s chairman, Rep. John Moolenaar (R., Mich.), asking for input on proposed sanctions with which the legislators were planning to target Beijing.

“Your insights are essential,” the email read, asking the groups to review a draft of the legislation attached to the message.But why had the chairman sent the message from a nongovernment address?

It turned out to be the latest in a series of alleged cyber espionage campaigns linked to Beijing, people familiar with the matter said, timed to potentially deploy spyware against organizations giving input on President Trump’s trade negotiations.

The FBI and the Capitol Police are investigating the Moolenaar emails, and cyber analysts traced the embedded malwareto a hacker group known as APT41—believed to be a contractor for Beijing’s Ministry of State Security.

S. and Chinese officials met in late July in Stockholm—just days after the first email was sent—to pursue the type of high-stakes negotiations that spies in both countries were likely eager to obtain an advantage in. The two countries soon after agreed to extend a tariff truce until early November, when Trump and Xi could meet at an Asian economic summit.

The hacking campaign appeared to be aimed at giving Chinese officials an inside look at the recommendations Trump was receiving from outside groups. It couldn’t be determined whether the attackers had successfully breached any of the targets.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman declined to provide details but said the bureau was aware of the incident and was “working with our partners to identify and pursue those responsible.” The Capitol Police declined to comment.

In a statement, Moolenaar said the effort was another example of China’s offensive cyber operations designed to steal American strategy and leverage it. “We will not be intimidated,” he said.

Chinese officials have disputed U.S. hacking allegations, saying such claims are intended to distract from Washington’s own aggressive actions. The Chinese Embassy said the country opposes and combats cyberattacks, adding “we also firmly oppose smearing others without solid evidence.”…

The alleged campaign comes as U.S. law-enforcement officials have been surprised by the prolific and creative nature of China’s spying efforts. The FBI revealed last month that a Beijing-linked espionage campaign that hit U.S. telecom companies and swept up Trump’s phone calls actually targeted more than 80 countries and reached across the globe.

China’s potential use of Moolenaar as a lure was particularly galling for the committee staffers given that the lawmaker has been a harsh critic of Beijing. China’s leadership “approaches the United States as an enemy to be harmed rather than as a partner,” he said in January.

The cybersecurity firm Mandiant determined the spyware would allow the hackers to burrow deep into the targeted organizations if any of the recipients had opened the purported draft legislation, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The Moolenaar impersonation comes as several administration officials have recently faced impostors of their own. The State Department warned diplomats around the world in July that an impostor was using AI to imitate Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s voice in messages sent to foreign officials.

Federal authorities are also investigating an effort to impersonate White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, the Journal reported in May.

THE IDENTITY OF EITHER IMPOSTOR REMAINS UNKNOWN. THE FBI ISSUED A WARNING THAT MONTH THAT “MALICIOUS ACTORS HAVE IMPERSONATED SENIOR U.S. OFFICIALS” TARGETING CONTACTS WITH AI-GENERATED VOICE MESSAGES AND TEXTS.

Another alleged impersonation-based hacking attempt also targeted the China committee. In January, staffers on the committee received emails falsely claiming to be from the CEO of Chinese crane manufacturer ZPMC, according to people familiar with the episode. Last year, Moolenaar’s committee published a 50-page report alleging that Beijing could remotely seize control of ZPMC cranes at U.S. ports allowing it to spy on American trade flow or disrupt the movement of goods.

DOJ says names of two associates Epstein wired $100k and $250k to should stay secret

The Justice Department request came after NBC News asked a federal judge to unseal the names of two people Epstein paid and helped protect from prosecution.

The Justice Department on Friday asked a federal judge overseeing the case of deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein to deny a request from NBC News to unseal the names of two associates who received large payments from him in 2018, court documents show. The Justice Department cited privacy concerns expressed by the two individuals as the reason for not making their names public.

The first associate received a payment of $100,000 from Epstein and the second associate received a payment of $250,000, both in 2018, days after the Miami Herald began publishing a series of investigative stories where victims criticized a plea deal he received in Florida in 2008.

As part of the plea agreement, Epstein secured a statement from federal prosecutors in Florida that the two individuals would not be prosecuted.

The payments became public after Epstein was indicted and arrested in New York in 2019 and asked to be released on bail. Federal prosecutors in New York filed a memorandum on July 16, 2019, that argued Epstein should remain in jail to prevent him from tampering with witnesses.

They cited the payments he made to the two individuals, which began two days after the Miami Herald began publishing its stories on Epstein’s plea deal, also known as a nonprosecution agreement, or NPA.

Prosecutors wrote that on Nov. 30, 2018, Epstein “wired $100,000 from a trust account he controlled, to an individual named as [REDACTED] a potential co-conspirator — and for whom Epstein obtained protection in — the NPA.”

Prosecutors also wrote that “this individual was also named and featured prominently in the Herald series.”

Prosecutors added that “the same records show that just three days later, on or about December 3, 2018, the defendant wired $250,000 from the same trust account to [REDACTED], who was also named as a potential co-conspirator — and for whom Epstein also obtained protection in — the NPA.”

The prosecutors continued: “This individual is also one of the employees identified in the Indictment, which alleges that she and two other identified employees facilitated the defendant’s trafficking of minors by, among other things, contacting victims and scheduling their sexual encounters with the defendant at his residences in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida.”

Prosecutors said in the filings that Epstein’s payments may be evidence of “efforts to influence witnesses.”

“This course of action, and in particular its timing,” they said, “suggests the defendant was attempting to further influence co-conspirators who might provide information against him in light of the recently re-emerging allegations.”

Last month, NBC News sent a letter asking U.S. District Judge Richard Berman to unseal the redacted names because Epstein is deceased, the criminal proceedings have ended, and the Justice Department said in a memo in July that there would be no additional charges filed against uncharged third parties.

Berman gave federal prosecutors until Sept. 5 to respond.

In a Sept. 5 reply letter, Jay Clayton, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, wrote, “Individual-1 and Individual-2 are uncharged third parties who have not waived their privacy interests; indeed, both Individual-1 and Individual-2 have expressly objected to the unsealing of their names and personal identifying information in the July 2019 Letter.”

Clayton said the two unnamed individuals sent letters to the U.S. attorney’s office expressing their concern but that those letters are under seal.

The judge has given NBC News until Sept. 12 to respond to the Justice Department’s request that the names remain secret.

It is not known when Berman will make a ruling on NBC News’ request.

Finnish MP reveals past in prostitution

Anna Kontula has said she worked as an escort from age 16 before switching to politics

Finnish MP Anna Kontula has revealed that she was a sex worker for years before entering politics. In an interview with the new outlet Helsingin Sanomat (HS) published on Saturday, Kontula said she is not ashamed of the experience, adding that it helped shape her political career.

Kontula, 48, is serving her fourth term in the Finnish Parliament. While she has long campaigned for sex workers’ rights, she had never spoken publicly about her own experience.

Kontula told HS she began escorting at 16 while living in a student dorm, and saidthe choice came from both financial hardship and curiosity. “If I wanted to somehow make ends meet… it was a pretty rational solution,” she explained.

She worked in the industry on and off for nearly two decades and became an outspoken advocate. In 2002, she co-founded the sex workers’ union SALLI and published articles challenging public perceptions of the industry. When Finland passed a 2006 law partly restricting the purchase of sex, she saw it as a partial victory, noting it included protections for trafficking victims.

Kontula has served in parliament since 2011, continuing to campaign for sex workers’ rights. When asked why she decided to speak out now, she told HS: “Talking about the topic now can bring benefits to social debate [on sex work] and its direction.” She has announced she will not seek reelection and is training to become a social worker, including providing safe-sex education.

Kontula’s coming out has already drawn criticism. In an opinion piece published in HS on Sunday,legal psychologist Pia Puolakka called it “worrying” that the MP described sex work as “just work among others,” and argued that “normalizing sex work does not make society freer or fairer.”

“The task of a civilized state is to guarantee conditions in which no one has to sell their intimacy,” Puolakka wrote.

Prostitution is legal in Finland with some exceptions. Although Kontula was a minor when she began sex work, Finnish law did not prohibit it at the time. However, the 2006 legislation partially criminalized the purchase of sex, making it illegal to buy from minors, trafficking victims, or those involved in procurement.

Trump gearing up for meeting with Xi – CNN

The potential talks could take place in October in South Korea, the network has reported

US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping could meet in October in South Korea during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, CNN reported on Saturday, citing sources. This comes amid trade tensions between the two countries.

According to three unnamed Trump administration officials, the president and his top advisers “are quietly preparing” to travel to the APEC meetingand hold talks with the trade ministers of member states. The APEC summit is scheduled for late October to early November in Gyeongju, South Korea.

The officials added that “there have been serious discussions about a bilateral meeting” between Trump and Xi on the sidelines of the forum, but “no firm plans are in place.”

Trade tensions between the US and China have been running high. In early 2025, Trump imposed sweeping tariffs as high as 145% on Chinese goods, prompting reciprocal tariffs of 125% from Beijing. The two countries agreed in May, however, to a temporary tariff truce, which has been extended to mid-November.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said last month that the current arrangement was “working pretty well,”adding that the sides were holding “very good talks” and are likely to meet again before the truce expires.

South Korea condemns mass detention of its citizens in US

Around 300 South Korean nationals were swept up in an immigration raid at a Hyundai plant in Georgia, Seoul has said

South Korea has lodged a protest after the US immigration authorities detained hundreds of workers at Hyundai’s electric vehicle manufacturing complex in Georgia.

The raid took place on Thursday at the construction site of a battery plant in Bryan County near Savannah, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution that employs around 1,200 people. US Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) said the operation was part of an inquiry into unlawful employment practices.

The Atlanta office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives reported that 450 “unlawful aliens” were taken into custody.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said around 300 of those detained were South Korean nationals, including employees of partner firms visiting on business trips.Many reportedly entered the US on short-term business visas or under the Visa Waiver Program, but the immigration authorities concluded that their activities at the site did not match the purpose of their stay.

“The economic activities of our investment firms and the rights of our citizens must not be unfairly infringed upon during US law enforcement operations,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday, according to local media. “We have also conveyed our concerns and regret through the US Embassy in Seoul, urging them to ensure that the legitimate rights and interests of our citizens are fully protected.” (They are breaking the law, but they think these illegals have a right to be in the U.S. illegally, the U.S. does not adhere to the UN NWO mandates, like the EU and others do.)

National Centre RUSSIA opens first branch office in Vladivostok

It will be “a space where ideas are born, and everyone feels pride in Russia and its future,” says the Centre’s general director

The first branch office of the National Centre RUSSIA has opened in Primorye, established by order of President Vladimir Putin.

The ceremony took place on the Sports Embankment in Vladivostok, with Governor Oleg Kozhemyako attending. “This is truly a focal point for residents and visitors, where they can learn about landmarks, projects, and achievements of the region, and see how we are shaping the future of our cities and Vladivostok as an agglomeration,” he said.

He noted this opening is only the first step in developing the Centre in the Far East.A congress hall and youth spaces will soon appear, and the site will expand with modern infrastructure for Vladivostok residents. During the ceremony, Kozhemyako awarded the Centre’s General Director Natalia Virtuozova the Primorsky Krai Medal For Special Contribution to Development (1st degree). Other staff involved in establishing the branch were also honored.

“Primorye is a special region — Russia’s gateway to Asia, where traditions and cultures meet, and friendship with neighbors is daily life. We believe the branch will be a new center of strength, a cultural hub, a space where ideas are born, and everyone feels pride in Russia and its future,” said Virtuozova.

Vladivostok Mayor Konstantin Shestakov added that the opening became possible through the joint efforts of a large regional team. “I thank everyone who contributed,” he said.

US woman charged with registering dog to vote in elections

The suspect has cast ballots in her pet’s name twice, the prosecutors say

A California woman has been charged with registering her dog to vote and casting ballots in her pet’s name in two elections, the Orange County Attorney General’s Office said on Friday.

Prosecutors said Laura Lee Yourex “self-reported” her actions in 2024 and now faces five felony counts. If convicted on all charges, she could serve up to six years in prison.

According to the statement, Yourex submitted a mail-in ballot under the name of her dog, Maya Jean Yourex, in the 2021 gubernatorial recall election, which was counted. She attempted to do so again in the 2022 primary election, but that ballot was rejected.

29 million deaths linked to EU and US sanctions – study

The unilateral measures were associated with more than 560,000 excess deaths annually from 1971 to 2021, a recent study suggests

Western sanctions contributed to nearly 29 million excess deaths worldwide over five decades – a toll comparable to that of wars, according to a recent study.

“We estimate that unilateral sanctions over this period caused 564,258 deaths per year, similar to the global mortality burden associated with armed conflict,”the authors noted, with a total of 28.8 million deaths across the 51-year span.

We found the strongest effects for unilateral, economic, and US sanctions, whereas we found no statistical evidence of an effect for UN sanctions. (Obvious lie)

Most excess deaths occurred among the most vulnerable – the very young and the elderly.

“Our findings reveal that unilateral and economic sanctions, particularly those imposed by the USA, lead to substantial increases in mortality, disproportionately affecting children younger than 5 years,”the study said, noting that the age group accounted for 51% of the total death toll.

The report found that the sanctions undermine economic and food security, often causing hunger and health problems among the poorest. Additionally, the dominance of the dollar and euro in global transactions allowed the US and EU to amplify the impact of their sanctions.

Macron’s government is collapsing. Here’s why Ukraine should worry

A €44 billion austerity gamble, strikes in the streets, and promises to Kiev are about to go up in smoke

France’s government is once again on the verge of collapse. 1.France in meltdown – how bad is it this time?

Bayrou has staked his survival on a confidence vote scheduled for Monday, September 8. At issue is an austerity package worth €44 billion, meant to shrink France’s deficit from 5.4% of GDP in 2025 toward 4.6% in 2026.Under EU fiscal rules, the official ceiling is 3%, so Brussels is pressuring Paris to cut deeper. But the plan – which includes reducing public holidays and raising healthcare contributions – has triggered anger at home. Trade unions are preparing strikes, while opposition parties from the far left to the far right have pledged to vote against Bayrou.

3.How did one budget plan blow up the PM’s career?

In France, governments can invoke Article 49.3 of the Constitution to force a bill through the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, without a vote. The mechanism has existed since 1958 and is legal, but risky: once Article 49.3 is triggered, opposition lawmakers have 24 hours to file a no-confidence motion. If that motion passes, the government falls. Bayrou’s decision to use 49.3 turned his €44 billion austerity plan into a survival gamble.==

Bayrou chose confrontation over compromise. By tying his austerity program directly to a confidence vote, he hoped to project resolve. 6.And Ukraine – what happens when Paris goes quiet?

For Kiev, French instability brings real costs.

Cash flow: The €3 billion pledged for 2024 but still not disbursed was meant to cover weapons and financial aid.But such spending has to pass through the annual budget. With Bayrou’s plan collapsing and parliament in revolt, securing new funds will be politically and legally harder for any caretaker government.

Losing an ally: Bayrou’s exit would strip Kiev of one of its most reliable advocates inside the French cabinet. By contrast, opposition parties – andeven voices within Macron’s camp – have been more skeptical of pouring money into Kiev while cutting spending at home. His departure strips Macron of a key advocate inside the cabinet.

Security guarantees in limbo: Macron has positioned France as the organizer of the “Coalition of the Willing,” where 26 countries promised postwar guarantees for Ukraine, potentially including a reassurance force. Such a plan requires stable leadership, funding commitments, and parliamentary approval. A government in turmoil cannot push through the legal and financial framework needed to turn pledges into reality.

‘Armed to the teeth’ peace plan: Macron has also announced an extra €6.5 billion in defense spending for 2025-2027,lifting France’s annual budget from about €47 billion in 2024 to €64 billion by 2027 – a roughly 35% increase. This blurs the line between “peace guarantees” and outright militarization, reinforcing Moscow’s argument that Europe’s settlement talk is cover for escalation.

7.If France wobbles, is the EU still ‘united’?

The fallout would reach Brussels as well.The EU relies on France, the bloc’s second-largest economy, to underwrite collective aid to Kiev, yet the €3 billion pledge Paris made for 2024 is in doubt. That damages the bloc’s credibility as a reliable funder at a timewhen Germany is reluctant to shoulder the costs alone. Macron has also styled himself as the champion of “strategic autonomy,” calling together with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz for a stronger European defense role. But as the Financial Times has noted, those ambitions collide with weak finances and political divisions.

With France paralyzed, the EU’s claim to speak with one voice looks hollow, and existing rifts– from Hungary’s open skepticism to Slovakia’s resistance on energy and sanctions – are harder to conceal.

German MP calls for access to UK and French nuclear weapons

Jens Spahn believes there needs to be European-level nuclear deterrence and that Berlin should take the lead

Germany should have access to French and British nuclear weapons, senior lawmaker Jens Spahn has said. In return, Berlin could work with Paris and London to modernize their arsenals, he told the newspaper FAZ.

Spahn, who leads the joint CDU/CSU parliamentary group, has emerged as a strong proponent of an EU-level nuclear weapons system.

“We… need an ability to deter at the European level… together with the French and the British,” he said in an interview published on Saturday,arguing that US nuclear arms in Europe are no longer sufficient.

The MP, a former federal health minister, said debate on the issue “will only happen if Germany pushes it forward.”He suggested that London and Paris could keep most control over their nuclear arsenals,while Berlin could take part in a modernization program.

In July, Spahn also spoke about the need “to talk about German or European [access] to the nuclear arsenals of France and Great Britain” in light of what he called the “threat” coming from Russia. Nations without nuclear deterrence will “become pawns in global politics,” he argued.

Between her Facebook threats, mental illness, and her outright admission to the Secret Service, it’s pretty obvious this woman is on a mission to assassinate President Trump. Any reasonable person, and even the federal magistrate, could see she was a danger, and she was ordered to be detained.

Is it the Supreme Court’s job to cover for activist judges, or is it their duty to uphold the law and the UA Constitution?That single statement, “They don’t have our backs,” tells you everything about the mindset and agenda of these activist judges and reveals how broken and weaponized our judicial system truly is. And it should scare every single American citizen.

The frustration for American voters, who never elected a single activist judge, is that these radicals get to sit on the bench and hurl “fake law” at the walls, hoping something sticks, with zero consequences, except for a few bruised egos. That’s the same frustration Rep. Eli Crane is calling out.

Tania Fernandes Anderson, the woke BLM Muslim and former illegal alien on the Boston City Council was sentenced to prison on corruption charges on Friday.

As previously reported, Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson, aDemocrat and the first Muslim elected to the council, was arrested by FBI agents last December.

Tania Fernandes Anderson, who served as Vice Chair of the Post Audit Committee, which oversees government accountability,was arrested on six felony charges (five counts of wire fraud and one count of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds) stemming from a kickback scheme.

“The charges stem from an alleged kickback scheme she orchestrated to obtain several thousand dollars in taxpayer money in exchange for bribes paid,” U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy said at Friday’s press conference, according to NBC Boston.

According to the indictment, Fernandes Andersonallegedly awarded a $13,000 bonus to a staffer, identified as “Staff Member A,” who is also a relative, on the condition that the staffer return a significant portion of the bonus—approximately $7,000—directly to her.

Anderson allegedly finalized the cash transaction in a bathroom at City Hall, receiving $7,000 in kickbacks from Staff Member A, as detailed by text message evidence included in the indictment.

After pleading guilty to the charges in May, Tania Fernandes Anderson was sentenced to one month in prison.

Former Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson was sentenced to one month in prison on Friday after she pleaded guilty to public corruption charges.

Fernandes Anderson ‘s one-month sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release and she was also ordered to pay back $13,000 in restitution. The prosecution had recommended one year and one day in prison.

“I actually don’t like being in the media,” said Fernandes Anderson, who spoke outside court following her sentencing. “It’s just too much and so can you please, I’m asking you for the love of god, stop talking about me? Just let the story go. It happened, I took responsibility.”

Two from the gang of ten teens that beat the hell out of 19-year-old former DOGE staffer Edward “Big Balls” Coristine during an attempted carjacking have been slapped with additional charges after a far-left Biden judge released them last month.

Trump posted a photo of Coristine after he was beaten bloody by the mob of teens. The President has since federalized DC to crack down on crime.

New York Post reports:

The 15-year-old boy and girl, both from Maryland, were arraigned on the additional charges on Thursday after the bloody attack on Edward Coristine served as the catalyst for President Trump’s crackdown in the nation’s capital.

The pair, who had already been charged with unarmed carjacking, are now also facing assault and robbery charges, Politico reported.

The suspects have not been identified because of their age.

Police who were in the vicinity nabbed the two 15-year-olds but said they are still looking for other suspects.

Following the incident, President Trump declared an emergency in the capital and initiated his federal takeover of the police and deployment of federal agents and National Guard troops around the capital.

Since taking these actions on August 11, law-abiding citizens can now walk around the capital freely without fear of being attacked and robbed by rogue teens or harassed by drugged-out bums.
