Anons, here's something interesting about California:

California, like many states, has a government-enforced monopoly on gambling in the form of the lottery. They also allow the natives to operate casinos, for generous kickbacks/taxes/whatever.

Many years ago, when the lottery was being considered, residents of California were told that the money generated by the Lottery would go toward public schools:

This is a lie. My wife was an accountant at one of the school districts. The way it works is this: a check comes in from the state lottery, then a check is written for exactly the same amount by the school district and sent right back to Sacramento. Where that money goes, I have no idea…but I seriously doubt it goes to improving schools.

This state is corrupt. You will never see a story about government corruption unless a citizen whistleblows and the controversy can't be ignored. Even then, only the little politicians get nailed–likely because the more corrupt ones had better connections.

I look forward to the day when all is revealed and these people get what they deserve.
