China approves nature reserve at disputed South China Sea shoal claimed by the Philippines

China has approved the construction of a national nature reserve at Scarborough Shoal, a disputed territory also claimed by the Philippines in the South China Sea.

BEIJING – China has approved the construction of a national nature reserve at Scarborough Shoal, a hotly disputed territory that the Philippines also claims in the South China Sea.

A notice posted online Wednesday by China’s State Council said that details about the area and size of the project would be released separately by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

“The building of the Huangyan Island National Nature Reserve is an important guarantee for maintaining the diversity, stability and sustainability of the natural ecosystem of Huangyan Island,” the notice said, referring to Scarborough Shoal by its name in Chinese.

Scarborough Shoal is the scene of frequent showdowns between Chinese and Philippine vessels as both try to enforce their claims to the territory. It is one of many South China Sea islands, islets and reefs that are claimed by China and one or more of its neighbors, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan.

The waters are a vital shipping lane, also patrolled by the U.S. Navy, as well as a valuable fishing ground and home to potential mineral resources.

A Chinese navy ship accidentally collided with a Chinese coast guard ship last month while trying to block a Philippine coast guard vessel near Scarborough Shoal. Philippine military officials said the high-speed crash may have killed at least two Chinese personnel, based on video footage.

Later in August, the Philippines, Australia and Canada deployed aircraft and three warships for drills against simulated aerial threats east of the same shoal.

Trump Fed nominee Stephen Miran advanced by Senate Banking committee, tees up final vote

-The Senate Banking Committee advanced the nomination by President Donald Trump of Stephen Miran to become Federal Reserve governor for at least the next several months.

-The vote comes a day after a federal judge temporarily blocked Trump from firing another Fed governor, Lisa Cook, while her lawsuit challenging his removal of her plays out in court.

-Trump tapped Miran, who is chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, to replace Adriana Kugler, who unexpectedly resigned in August. Miran has said he will remain on the council if approved to serve out Kugler’s term, which ends in January.

The Senate Banking Committee voted Wednesday to advance the nomination by President Donald Trump of Stephen Miran, a top White House economic advisor, to become Federal Reserve governor for at least the next several months.

The 13-11 vote along party lines came a day after a federal judge in Washington, D.C., temporarily blocked Trump from firing another Fed governor, Lisa Cook, while her lawsuit challenging his removal of her plays out in court.

And it came a week before the Fed board is set to meet to discuss possibly cutting interest rates, as Trump has demanded it do for months.

“Just out: No Inflation!!! “Too Late” must lower the RATE, BIG, right now,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.

“Powell is a total disaster, who doesn’t have a clue!!!” Trump wrote.

Every Republican on the Banking Committee voted to send Miran’s nomination to the full Senate, and every Democrat voted no on that question.

Trump tapped Miran, the chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, to replace Adriana Kugler, who unexpectedly resigned in August. Kugler has given no reason for her departure from the seven-member board.

If confirmed by the full Senate, Miran would serve until Jan. 31, the end of Kugler’s term.

Miran has said he will take an unpaid leave of absence from the Council of Economic Advisors if he is confirmed for the Fed post. That has rankled Democrats in the Senate, who want him to resign from the council if he becomes a Fed governor.

Trump said in nominating Miran that “we will continue to search for a permanent replacement. That left open the door to nominating someone else for a full 14-year term on the central bank’s board.

Trump last month said he was removing Cook because of allegations she committed mortgage fraud.

She denies those claims, and is suing the president to permanently block him for removing her for that purported cause.

If Cook were to be removed, Trump would have the chance to nominate a majority of Fed governors.

Harvard Is STILL Sending Students To China on Communist Indoctrination Trips Funded By The CCP

Harvard University is once again sending its students on delegations to China – trips secretly organized and underwritten by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) foreign influence machine.

Through my previous reporting, I revealed how the Harvard Kennedy School has partnered for years with the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), a group founded and funded by top CCP officials running Beijing’s United Front – the network tasked with co-opting foreign elites and shaping overseas narratives.

Now, I’ve uncovered new evidence showing these delegations are still happening today. Harvard students were brought to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shenzhen for hand-picked meetings with Communist Party officials, lectures at state-run universities, and curated discussions on “environmental cooperation.”

CUSESF described the trip as a “delegation of 18 students from Harvard University, organized in collaboration with the Harvard College China Forum (HCCF), for a ten-day cultural exchange program across China.” The students focused on environmental and cultural exchanges.

This new discovery proves Harvard’s partnership with CUSEF is not a relic of the past but an ongoing pipeline funneling America’s “future leaders” into propaganda tours designed to soften their view of the regime.

CUSEF’s chairman, Tung Chee-hwa, is not some neutral philanthropist. He doubles as the leader of the CCP’s United Front Work Department. According to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, the United Front seeks to “neutralize potential opposition” to the Party and manipulate foreign governments and opinion leaders into advancing Beijing’s preferred policies.

For over a decade, Harvard Kennedy School delegations of 18 graduate students at a time have been sent to China for ten-day “study treks.” They’ve met with:

-Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

-The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) — which the U.S. State Department has labeled an arm of the CCP’s influence apparatus.

-Executives at Huawei and professors at state-run universities like Peking University.

-Even a former Major General of the People’s Liberation Army.

These delegations were never neutral exchanges.

CUSEF brochures show Harvard students being lectured by CCP apparatchiks and their own published testimonials reveal how effective the indoctrination was.

One Harvard participant from 2016 dismissed Western media’s coverage of Chinese repression, praising communism as “the only possible system” to lift people out of poverty. Another in 2019 lauded China as a “modern and advanced country” and pledged to carry its lessons into their professional career

A member of a 2016 Harvard-CUSEF trip wrote a reflection entitled “The Foreign Media Doesn’t Do Justice To China,” which was published on the organization’s site. The student noted that the trip reversed the “negative connotations in me about China’s aggressions in the region, China’s oppression, China’s pollution…”

“What I found was astonishing and rather positive,” they noted before adding that communism was “the only possible system to lift the country from massive poverty to incredible growth”:

“Chinese officials are not the autocratic rulers that are depicted in some of the press. Obviously, China is not a democracy and there still are many human rights topics to be solved, including censorship and freedom of the press. However, in the many officials we have met, I found that they all shared a pragmatic approach to solving public policy problems. Using more analytics and less politics is their motto and the United States may greatly benefit from relying further on analytics and less on politics given the current gridlock in our system. The political system in China, with its many weaknesses, has probably been the only possible system to lift the country from massive poverty to incredible growth.”

The delegation member notes they “will do what I can, throughout my professional career in life, to promote further collaboration.”

The pattern is unmistakable: CUSEF uses Harvard delegations as propaganda vehicles, grooming America’s brightest students into sympathetic messengers for the regime.

The latest material I uncovered shows the cycle is still ongoing as recent as August 17th, 2025.

For years, the CCP has leveraged CUSEF to court Western journalists, scholars, and politicians. Harvard’s complicity shows how deeply Beijing’s propaganda networks have penetrated even America’s most prestigious universities.

CUSEF and the Harvard Kennedy School have also collaborated on research reports.

A 2009 CUSEF promotional brochure describes the “Harvard Shared Vision Project”: a “joint research project involving scholars from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University” and from state-run institutions including “Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies.”

The project culminated in a book – Power and Restraint – which “upholds the message of the CUSEF, that China and the United States can, and must, work together to improve mutual understanding in order to confront the challenges that are common to both nations.”

Poland says it shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace during attack on Ukraine

Poland says it shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace during attack on Ukraine

“This situation brings us the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.

Poland said a number of Russian drones entered its airspace during an attack on Ukraine early Wednesday and were shot down with the help of NATO allies, a first since Moscow's full-scale invasion of its neighbor.

Leaders across Europe condemned the incident as the latest sign of escalation from the Kremlin, which has rebuffed President Donald Trump's bid to broker peace talks.

Poland's leaders spoke to their European counterparts afterward, and Polish President Karol Nawrocki said he spoke to Trump about the situation Wednesday afternoon.

Russia labeled the accusations “groundless" and said it did not plan to attack any targets in Poland.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that it had attacked the “military-industrial complex of Ukraine” in a "large-scale strike" but that "there were no targets envisioned for destruction on the Polish territory," pointing to the flight range of the drones it said it used against western Ukraine.

It said it was "ready to hold consultations with the Polish Ministry of Defense on this matter."

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said there was no doubt the incursion was intentional, calling the violation an unprecedented attack on NATO and the European Union.

"In this case there were 19 breaches, and it simply defies imagination that it could be accidental," he told reporters.

The European Union needs to create a "drone wall" to face the challenges illustrated by the overnight incursion, he said.

"This is a threat not only to Poland, this new technology of the mass use of drones is a threat to all of the E.U. and nature, and we need to face it together,” Sikorski added.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said earlier that his country had dealt with "a large-scale provocation” and that four of the 19 recorded drones were shot down.

Tusk added that a significant number of the drones flew in from Belarus, an authoritarian ally of Russia used as a launching pad for attacks on Ukraine.

“I have no reason to claim we’re on the brink of war, but a line has been crossed," he told the Polish Parliament. “This situation brings us the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II."

Belarus said that the drones had “lost their way” and that it had also shot some down over its territory.

The Polish military’s operational command called the drones an “act of aggression" and initially urged residents to stay at home, with three eastern regions at particular risk. It later thanked NATO air command and the Dutch air force, which it said scrambled F-35 fighter jets.

Poland and the United States are members of NATO, which at its core is a mutual defense pact formed after World War II to deal with the threat posed by the Soviet Union, meaning an attack on one may be considered an attack on all.

Tusk said he had activated Article 4 of NATO’s treaty, under which alliance members can demand consultations with their allies, and that he was in touch with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who called the incursion "reckless behavior," irrespective of whether it was deliberate.

A NATO official confirmed to NBC News that Poland had "requested consultations under Article 4 of the Washington Treaty,” only the eighth time that the article — which does not trigger a military reaction — has been invoked since NATO was established in 1949.

NATO assets were engaged during the incursion and "responded quickly and decisively to the situation," Air Force Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, the head of U.S. European Command and NATO supreme allied commander for Europe, said in a statement.

Grynkewich added that NATO remained in close contact with Poland and other allies.

Matthew Whittaker, the U.S. ambassador to NATO, said on X, "We stand by our NATO Allies in the face of these airspace violations and will defend every inch of NATO territory."

Trump appeared to show his support for Poland, posting on Truth Social: "What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!"

The Russian incursion resulted in the closure of airspace over at least three airports in Poland, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

Debris from the drones was found in several Polish cities. A spokesperson for the Polish Interior Ministry said seven drones and one fragment from “a projectile of unknown origin” had been found.

There were no reports of deaths or injuries.

Focus quickly shifted to what the incident may mean for the continent more broadly.

Increasing evidence, including the direction of travel, indicated this “was no accident,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X.

The European Union called it the most serious European airspace violation by Russia since it invaded Ukraine in 2022.

“Indications suggest it was intentional, not accidental,” Kaja Kallas, the E.U.’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, wrote on X, later describing the incident as a "game changer" and calling for "a very strong response."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CNN he had been briefed on reports of Russian drones over Poland as he left a dinner with Trump.

Sweden and Norway pledged their full support to Poland, while leaders of NATO’s Baltic states — Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia — also voiced alarm.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda warned on X that Moscow was “deliberately expanding its aggression.” Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said it offered “a stark reminder that Russia is not just a threat to Ukraine, but to all of Europe and NATO.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to comment further on the incident, saying "the leadership of the E.U. and NATO accuse Russia of provocations on a daily basis."

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, neighboring Poland has remained on high alert, especially after a stray Ukrainian missile struck a Polish village a few months into the war in 2022 and killed two people there. Russian missiles have also briefly entered Polish airspace on at least two occasions.

But this new incident showed Russian President Vladimir Putin was "clearly testing NATO," said Michael Bociurkiw, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council think tank. "He wants to see how far he can push, and whether he can push further," he told NBC News.

This is also "payback," said Bociurkiw, for Poland's "very central role in the war in Ukraine," as the "the prime logistical hub for U.S. and NATO and Western allied weapons."

Poland is "now a part of this war," he said. "They are much more on the front line than they were 24 hours ago."

Chandler Crump

@realCCrump

Charlie Kirk changed my life.

I attended Turning Point USA's Young Black Leadership Summit in October 2018. I was 14 at the time but Charlie told me it didn't matter how young I was, I could fight alongside him in this movement.

From then on, I attended every Turning Point Conference every year. From 2018 to 2025.

I grew up in this movement. I became the person I am today because of the inspiration from Charlie Kirk and his organization.

I will never be the same without him, and this country will never be the same either.

He was a husband, a father, a man of God, and a visionary for our nation.
