also the 308 round is tricky to use at distance, as a deer hunter i know this and would rather use a 'flatter' projectile because I know that i am not an expert and have trouble with my 308 rifles, guessing the climb and drop. and this appears to be a bare bones straight from the box stock model, accuracy is not factory, so leading more to an experienced shooter.
this is better to show the climb and fall.
30-06 and 308 are both the width projectile, 30 caliber, and outside of case/cartridge characteristics, they are very close and nearly synonymous, especially to non ballistic people.
7.62x51 is 308 .. same thing different names
yep.
they were developed at different times, evolution. the specifics are in the case, i can load 30cal projectiles in either case and call them by their unique names. but the bullets (projectiles) are the same essentially.
well IF that was actually the rifle, it could be a planted weapon for narrative, i hear there are messages on the cartrige cases..
but report (sound) is round specific and barrel/compensator has the most to do with the report, Afaik science on report is not sound, to be funny.
i was only looking for the bump/fall in the the chart, but i thought the same!
this, im guessing the rifle found is a throw the trail off and narrative, the actual weapon would be higly customized with a proper eye relief on the optic, an actual quality optic, and highly customized glass bedded stock, it could be break-down and still highly accurate, but the rifle found looks straight off the shelf, and i highly doubt that it was used to make that shot.
unlikely, but it could have been fired at an early time, leaving the cartridge in the chamber, a couple more rounds in a ammo sleeve on the butt stock, and dropped that day to throw the trail. just guessing, but firing that close (20-50yards) would be unmistakable for where it came from.
guys when it comes to guns, espescially scary loud bang guns, that you use proper terms. its the magazine/clip issueโฆ he should say : PROJECTILE dia. is the same, .308 inches. and that is accurate. you are also correct, the 'bullet' of one will not function in the other. the 7.62x51-vs-308 issue is similar, but close enough to work, with drawbacks.
guns are complex topics, try to use the proper terms, or we further confuse the discussion.

nobody wants to bring the metric system into this US Imperial Ballistics discussion!
this this this
tech support
i believe that image is a manufactures image, the police image has the actual recovered rifle inside a brown cardboard evidence box; i believe.
>bullets don't rise out of the muzzle
>b-b-but muh ballistic arc chartโฆ
while you didnt state why (gravity) you are correct, but it doesn't act exactly in that manner. there are nuances.. and we are arguing with people who think they can fire 30-06 in a 308 chamber.. they rise!
wheretf is guttfeld? are they snubbing him because he was LOUD? or because f-bomb?
