There is work for men. You have to go to every boat on every pier every day and ask every Skipper.
Persistence pays off. Somebody will give you a shot. I have to warn you, it is the hardest and one of the most brutal environments you’ve ever be in.
Maybe 1 out of 100 will who try actually succeed.
You have to really want it. But if you can do it in the pay off is tremendous. I’ve been out of it for years.
If you get to New Bedford. Keep posting here and I will reply. But again I warn you, this is the hardest work you will ever do and it is one of the dangerous jobs in the world. The trick is to get to the docks, talk to fishermen, get the gear you need and pound the docks ready to go.
Don’t make this trip lightly. There is a reason they named that show about crabbing, “ Deadliest Catch”.
With all this said, I promise you there is work to be had. But it’s up to you to get it. I highly recommend you research everything you can on line about the place and the business before even considering such a move. God bless and best of luck to you!
