I am a farmer. Every year without exception, I must battle pests on my crops. If I do not, I will have nothing to harvest. The pests will take EVERYTHING. Trying to exterminate and eradicate every last pest is not only a fool's errand (as it is impossible), but it is also entirely unnecessary. The solution is not eradication, but rather mitigation. Crops can thrive when the pest problem is significantly mitigated, but doing so involves harsh measures. I cannot be "Christ-like" and love all the bugs and still expect to have a harvest. I can not reason with these pests. Life in this realm just doesn't work like that, no matter how much I wish it did. What I wish is irrelevant; what I face in front of me is real. Recognizing that is what differentiates a man from a boy. Creating a thriving society is no different. America has a SERIOUS pest problem, both endemic pests and non-native pests. In fact, we have an infestation. If we don't mitigate itand soonthe pests WILL take everything.
