Ram has abandoned plans to launch an electric pickup truck, according to a Sept. 12 statement from Stellantis.

“As demand for full-size battery-electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size [battery-electric] pickup,” the company said.

In December 2024, the company said it planned on launching its Ram 1500 battery-electric pickup in the first half of 2025.

As part of the latest decision, Ramcharger, a pickup truck featuring an electric battery and a gas engine, will be renamed the Ram 1500 REV.

“This vehicle will set a new benchmark in the half-ton segment, offering exceptional range, towing capability, and payload performance,” the statement from Stellantis said.

He asked the court for a judicial review to determine if the law society overstepped its boundaries as defined in the Legal Professions Act.

A judicial review is when a court is asked to review a decision of an administrative tribunal and determine if the decision was unfair or unreasonable.

Song also said the law society violates his Charter rights, saying its move amounts to “compelled speech, forced ideological conformity, and suppression of conscience and expression,” according to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), which represented Song in the lawsuit.

While the victim is seen lying injured on the ground, the assailant tossed what appears to be a kippah into a puddle of water in a splash pad.

On Friday, Quebec Court Judge Joëlle Roy said she received the report on the 30-day evaluation to determine whether the accused can be found criminally responsible for his actions.

The hearing was inside a courtroom along with dozens of other cases on the role for Friday. Roy was careful to only make vague references to the evaluation. She said the court would not have the required time Friday afternoon to hold a full hearing on the report’s conclusions. She agreed to schedule the hearing for Monday.

“I have read the report completely. What I think is that the victim in the case has an interest in reading it,” Roy said, asking a prosecutor if she could authorize this. “(The report) is very complete and there is a dimension to it that is important to the victim.” Continue…

Ten people were arrested when a demonstration calling for deportations and an end to mass immigration was met by a counter-demonstration in a Toronto park known as the scene of an historic antisemitic riot.

Hundreds of people supporting mass immigration gathered at Toronto’s Christie Pits Park on Saturday afternoon in response to a demonstration encouraging mass deportations called “Canada First.”

Organizers of the Canada First rally took to social media last month to promote their event, with a poster advertising it for 1 p.m. reading, “Stop mass immigration. Start mass deportations. Remigration is necessary.”

Numerous pro-mass immigration counter rallies had planned their own community rallies at the park with a start time of noon.

“Bring friends, water, snacks, art supplies and noisemakers and anything else you’ll need to spend an afternoon in the park,” one post promoting the counter-rally read.

In 1933, thousands of people converged at the park for one of Canada’s most notable antisemitic riots and counter-protests that broke out after a Nazi-inspired flag with a Swastika was pulled out during a baseball game.

Women who attended an extraordinary protest outside an Ontario court appearance this week by a man who allegedly broke into a home, choked and sexually assaulted a young child say they aimed to push authorities to ensure the child gets justice.

The case, in Welland, Ont., has drawn special attention because of the horror of the crime — the victim was under five years old, attacked in bed as the parents slept — and the fact that the suspect was on probation at the time for a similar offence.

“It should disturb people. It should make decision-makers feel uncomfortable and guilty. It should be obvious that the system is flawed and this must spark change,” Jackie Heximer said.

The protest outside the St. Catharines courthouse drew hundreds of people and led police to shut the street as the suspect attended a bail hearing.

Heximer, who is a mother of two young girls and a sexual assault survivor, said it was crucial that the case not “fade into silence.”

“This case hits painfully close to home.
