We have several topics to discuss today, including matters related to migration policy. However, I would like to begin with an issue of prime importance, one that is critical to safeguarding our national interests, Russia’s sovereignty, and without exaggeration, international security as a whole. I am referring to the situation in the realm of strategic stability, which, regrettably, continues to deteriorate. This is driven by a combination of factors, which are negative, compounding existing strategic risks and generating new ones.

As a result of the destructive actions previously taken by Western countries, the foundations of constructive relations and practical cooperation between nuclear powers have been significantly undermined. The basis for dialogue within relevant bilateral and multilateral frameworks has been eroded. Gradually, the system of Soviet-American and Russian-American agreements on nuclear missile and strategic defense arms control – long relied upon to stabilize relations between the two largest nuclear powers and to enhance global security – has been nearly dismantled.

Let me reiterate: We have repeatedly examined the causes and potential consequences of this situation. We attribute the numerous challenges that have accumulated in the strategic sphere since the beginning of the 21st century to the destructive actions of the West, their destabilizing doctrines and military-technical programs designed to undermine global parity and pursue absolute, overwhelming superiority.

We have consistently and thoroughly addressed these issues, criticized this approach, and not only highlighted the extreme dangers of further deterioration but also repeatedly proposed concrete ideas for joint solutions. However, our warnings and initiatives have not received a clear response.

Finnish President: We Must Be Willing To Fight Russia

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has said that European security guarantees for a post-war Ukraine must include a readiness to fight Russia, The Guardian reported over the weekend.

When asked if European troops would be willing to engage with Russia militarily if it attacked Ukraine after a future peace deal, Stubb said, "That is the idea of security guarantees by definition."

"Security guarantees in essence are a deterrent and that deterrent has to be plausible, and in order for it to be plausible it has to be strong. And that means also strategic communication, so we’re not making security guarantees into the air, but we’re making real security guarantees and Russia knows that," the Finnish leader added.

Finland, the UK, France, and other European countries have continued to push for a European troop deployment to Ukraine despite strong objections from Moscow and the risk of nuclear war if the troops end up clashing with Russian forces.

Stubb said that it didn’t matter if Russia was against the proposed security guarantees:

"Russia has absolutely no say in the sovereign decisions of an independent nation state … So for me it’s not an issue will Russia agree or not. Of course they won’t, but that’s not the point," Stubb said.

Stubb, who took office in 2024, was in the US last month and joined several other European leaders in an Oval Office meeting with President Trump to discuss potential security guarantees for Ukraine.

After the meeting, Trump suggested that he would be willing to back European troops on the ground in Ukraine with air power.

The insistence on a European troop deployment to Ukraine has made a peace deal unlikely, as Moscow has made clear that it’s willing to continue the war until it reaches its goals.

Maduro account removed from YouTube

The move follows weeks of escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela over the deployment of American warships to the Southern Caribbean

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s YouTube channel has vanished from the platform amid escalating tensions between Caracas and Washington.

According to state-run broadcaster Telesur, the channel went offline on Friday. It has since disappeared from search results and is now inaccessible even via direct link.

“This page is unavailable,” reads the message where Maduro’s channel once appeared.

YouTube’s parent company, US-based Google, has not commented on the removal. Maduro’s channel, with over 233,000 subscribers, mainly featured his speeches and weekly TV show. YouTube says accounts are removed for “repeated violations” such as misinformation, hate speech, or interfering with “democratic processes.” Caracas has yet to comment on the takedown.

The apparent ban comes amid escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela. Relations soured when Washington refused to recognize Maduro’s reelection, but the rift widened with the recent deployment of American warships and fighter jets to the Southern Caribbean. Last month, the US sent at least eight Navy vessels, an attack submarine, and about 4,000 troops near Venezuela’s coast, saying the mission targeted drug cartels. Washington claimed the armada sank three Venezuelan boats but offered no proof those on board were criminals.

Venezuelan officials denounced the deployment as an assault on sovereignty and a plot to topple Maduro. Earlier this month, Maduro sent a letter to Trump, insisting Venezuela had dismantled trafficking networks and major drug gangs. He dismissed reports to the contrary as fake news and offered to hold direct talks with Washington on the issue.

“President, I hope that together we can defeat the falsehoods that have sullied our relationship, which must be historic and peaceful,” Maduro wrote in the letter shared on Telegram by Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa renews his call for Washington to formally lift US sanctions imposed under the 2019 Caesar Act while visiting New York to attend the first UN General Assembly of a Syrian leader in nearly six decades.

Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda leader, led rebel forces that overthrew Bashar al-Assad’s government last year. US President Donald Trump met him in Riyadh in May and ordered most sanctions lifted, but the Caesar Syria Civil Protection Act of 2019, authorizing them, remains US law.

Speaking at a summit on the sidelines of the annual General Assembly, Sharaa says the sanctions imposed on the previous Syrian leadership were no longer justified and were increasingly seen by Syrians as measures targeting them directly.

“We have a big mission to build the economy,” Sharaa says.

“Syria has a diverse workforce. They love to work, it’s in its genes. So don’t be worried, just lift the sanctions and you will see the results.”

Sharaa, the first Syrian president to participate in the General Assembly since 1967, is expected to deliver his first address at the General Assembly, which opens its 80th session on Tuesday.

Members of Congress have been debating whether to repeal the Caesar Act, which imposed wide-ranging sanctions on Syria under Assad. Some lawmakers, including Trump’s fellow Republicans as well as Democrats, want its repeal to be included as an amendment in the National Defense Authorization Act, a sweeping defense bill expected to pass by the end of December.

Israel threatens immediate countermeasures in response to the recognition of Palestine by a number of Western countries.

It is noted that the leadership of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have fulfilled their previous promises to Western allies, including France, to recognize Palestine. Other states, such as New Zealand, are expected to also take this step during the UN General Assembly meetings in New York in September.

According to Israeli sources, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was furious. He reacted angrily to plans to recognize the Palestinian state, the media reported.

It's worth noting that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, known for his defense of Jewish settlers in Israeli courts and his call for the expulsion of disloyal Arab citizens, issued a promising blog post. He believes that the recognition of the Palestinian state by several countries requires urgent countermeasures from Tel Aviv.

Mike Johnson can't stop the GOP's internal split on Israel

The speaker pledged to root out 'isolationists,' but these divisions started long ago and they're only getting wider

House Speaker Mike Johnson took part in a private meeting with pro-Israel leaders from a variety of organizations on Capitol Hill last Wednesday during which he reportedly expressed concern about growing “isolationism” in the GOP.

Speaking to several individuals who attended the meeting, Jewish Insider reported, “Johnson, who described himself to the group as a ‘Reagan Republican’ focused on ‘peace through strength,’ acknowledged that isolationism is rising in the Republican Party, and that the party is likely bound for a major debate on the issue after President Donald Trump leaves office.”

The report added, “And Johnson told the group that, in his candidate recruiting efforts, he’s working to filter out isolationists to prevent that wing of the party from growing larger in the House, four people who attended the meeting said.”

While it’s unclear what Johnson meant by “isolationists,” it’s likely, given his audience, that he’s referring to those who don’t support the far-right pro-Israel view, oppose Israel’s war in Gaza and/or advocate for Palestinian rights. The term is also often used by neoconservatives and other proponents of American militarism more generally to smear advocates of restraint.

In any case, the “major debate” on GOP foreign policy — particularly about Israel — that is supposed to take place after Trump leaves office has been well underway for some time. And Johnson’s crusade to root out the so-called “isolationists” — meaning those anti-war Republicans who are increasingly critical of Israel — is not new.

Almost three decades ago, when Pat Buchanan defeated the GOP establishment candidate, Sen. Robert Dole, in the 1996 Republican New Hampshire presidential primary, party heads worked feverishly to make sure that’s as far as he got.

When my former boss, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), ran for the U.S. Senate in 2010, the GOP brass didn’t want the son of Ron Paul anywhere near Capitol Hill. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) handpicked his own primary candidate who received the endorsements of American war machine boosters like former Vice President Dick Cheney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Cheney didn’t endorse in any other GOP primary that year but insisted that Paul’s more hawkish opponent was the “real conservative” in that race.

After Paul won the general election in a landslide, former George W. Bush speechwriter and prominent neoconservative David Frum lamented, "How is it that the GOP has lost its antibodies against a candidate like Rand Paul?"

Carlson said that Kirk's Christian evangelism reminded him of the story of Jesus arriving in Jerusalem to denounce people in power.

"He starts doing the worst thing that you can do, which is telling the truth about people, and they hate it, and they just go bonkers. They hate it, and they become obsessed with making him stop," Carlson said in a TPUSA YouTube video. "And I can just sort of picture the scene in a lamp-lit room with a bunch of guys sitting around eating hummus, thinking about what to do about this guy telling the truth about us. We must make him stop talking. And there's always one guy with the bright idea, and I could just hear him say, "'I've got an idea. Why don't we just kill him? That'll shut him up.'"

Conservative journalist Laura Loomer questioned on X/Twitter on Monday why the Republican Party wasn't condemning Carlson for using the Arizona memorial to imply that Jews murdered Kirk.

"Tucker is poisoning the party," said Loomer.

The NGO StopAntisemitism said on social media that Tucker had desecrated the service for Kirk "with his ridiculous insinuation that Jews were behind his assassination."

Journalist Yashar Ali commented that it was difficult to see Carlson's remarks in any other way, particularly given his recent rhetoric and guests invited on his show.

"Almost every single Neo-Nazi I track on a daily basis believes strongly that Tucker was talking about Jews," said Ali.

Anti-Israel activist Jackson Hinkle clipped the segment of the speech and posted it to his X account, remarking, "mic drop."

Quds News Network also captioned the speech as Carlson suggesting "Israeli involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death."

Conspiracy theories alleging Israeli involvement in Kirk's death

Since the assassination of Kirk at Utah Valley University, conspiracy theories about Israel's supposed involvement in the murder have been spread online.

The proliferation of the theories led Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to issue a social media statement denying and denouncing the "disgusting rumors" being "peddled" out of "obsession, perhaps with Qatari funding.

“This is insane. It is false. It is outrageous,” Netanyahu said on Thursday. “Charlie Kirk was a giant. A once-in-a-century talent who defended freedom, defended America, defended our common Judeo-Christian civilization.”

Former Mossad director Yossi Cohen also addressed the conspiracy theories on Erin Molan's show.

"Absolutely not, we had nothing to do with it," said Cohen. "The Mossad does not do such things, and certainly not political assassinations. This is super false and evil."

In the wake of the assassination, Netanyahu eulogized Kirk as a "lion-hearted friend" who was "murdered for speaking truth and defending freedom."

Other Israeli leaders across the political spectrum decried the killing and issued statements honoring the memory of Kirk.

Sensational New Measurements of Uncorrupted Air Temperatures Destroy UK Met Office Constant Claims of ‘Records’

Further dramatic scientific evidence has emerged to show that the UK Met Office’s 387-strong temperature network is hopelessly corrupted by unnatural heat influences and is effectively useless in providing credible guidance on many individual measurements and average trends. Since the Met Office has so few stations in pristine, uncorrupted CIMO Class 1 and 2 locations, where no errors are likely, nationwide ambient air temperature averages are impossible to gather, but Dr Eric Huxter has done the next best thing. He has examined over half a million 60-second measurements over the year at the Class 1 site at Rothamsted and produced a benchmark database against which the obviously unnatural ‘heat spikes’ that litter junk Class 4 and 5 sites can be compared. His results are truly shocking. One set of junk sites declaring daily spiked maximums since late April are on average well over 2°C higher than that expected at Rothamsted.

The main takeaway from this new crucial scientific evidence is that many daily maximum temperature spikes at Met Office stations are not genuine weather events but artefacts arising from careless, bad or even intentionally poor siting. At Rothamsted, changes from minute to minute follow a predictable natural pattern, with the vast majority of the 525,541 readings varying from -0.15°C to 0.25°C. Individual changes from the previous hour show an expected wider spread and, depending on the season, vary over the majority of the readings from around -0.35°C to 0.45°C. To give an idea of how dreadful some of Met Office data is, consider its declaration that the hottest ever UK May 1st temperature of 29.3°C was recorded this year in the urban heat jungle of Kew Gardens. The measurement occurred at 2.59pm and was no less than 2.6°C higher than at 2pm and 0.76°C above the 3pm mark – whatever was being recorded on that day, it is highly unlikely that it was the ambient natural air temperature.

At Class 1 pristine sites like Rothamsted, set in open farmland, we are indebted to Dr Huxter for revealing how natural temperatures behave. First, he shows in the graph below how they change from minute to minute.

These two graphs show the variation of natural air temperature when it is measured properly under credible scientific conditions. The following table from earlier Huxter’s work shows how large the distortions can be when Met Office daily maximums, or ‘extremes’ as they are categorised, are drawn from badly sited stations. Listed below are 35 daily highs starting on April 26th this year and the difference from the recording at the hour. All but one of the recordings arise from CIMO Classes 3, 4 and 5, with internationally recognised ‘uncertainties’ up to 1°C, 2°C and 5°C respectively. The overall average ‘spike’ is 0.89°C, which is far higher than the overall average at Rothamsted.
