What started as a narrow strike against Russian media has turned into a wide net that keeps spreading. Entire platforms vanish from the web, not because they broke laws, but because someone somewhere decided they should. The reach is no longer limited to propaganda channels. It now sweeps through news outlets, video servers, even decentralized platforms that once promised independence. That excuse hides the real problem: platforms can be cut off in a heartbeat with no clear rules or notice, and the people using them are left stranded. The test blocks on Rumble show how fragile open access has become.
Cloudflare is facing the same pressure. La Liga in Spain has pushed for full blocks of Cloudflare IP ranges to kill off pirated sports streams. But Cloudflare does not host only streams. It carries thousands of normal sites, from news outlets to small creators, and those are swept up too. The result is more collateral damage, less accountability, and fewer places left untouched.
The EU’s new consumer protection rules now let regulators block sites without courts or hearings, citing risks as broad as fraud or “misinformation.” That net is wide enough to catch almost anything, from crypto forums to foreign news sites. The tools are built. The legal cover is ready. The appetite for control is only growing.
If this path holds, Odysee, PeerTube, and other decentralized hubs will be the next to fall. Crypto projects flagged as risky will disappear. Foreign outlets that do not fit Brussels’ narrative will fade from screens. And all of it will happen in silence, one block at a time.

Another poll, specifically of American Jews, released last week, found that 53% disapprove of the war.
Both parties in the Cava family strife acknowledged to the Herald that the war in Gaza has caused rifts between them.
“I know many, many people — including in my own family — who are extremely concerned about the situation, as am I, and exactly how we deal with it,” the mayor, 70, who is the first woman and the first Jew to hold the position, told the paper. She added, “There are differences, of course.”
Shortly after the war’s start, the second-term Democrat announced a boost in the county’s investment in Israel bonds to $76 million.
“Today, I am proud to make this additional investment in Israel bonds, as we send a clear message that Miami-Dade stands together with Israel and all nations that champion democracy,” she said in a statement at the time.
But in recent months she, too, has been critical of Israel’s conduct in Gaza. In a July statement amid reports of widespread famine in Gaza, the mayor denounced “the starvation and hunger innocent human beings face in Gaza today,” adding, “The eyes of the world are upon us. The U.S. has an obligation to lead because we have never forgotten that with power comes compassion and the strength to lead with moral courage.”
Still, she is not seeking to make a change in her county’s investment in Israel. “I’m not weighing in,” the mayor told the Herald about the bonds fight prior to the meeting Thursday of the County Commission, which was considering her latest budget request.

US Officials Say Regime Change in Venezuela Is the Real Goal of Military Action in the Caribbean
The policy is being largely driven by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has long wanted to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from power. Back in 2019, when the first Trump administration attempted to back a coup against Maduro, Rubio posted a photo on Twitter of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in the moment he was being brutally murdered in an apparent threat to the Venezuelan leader.
The Trump administration claims that Maduro is the leader of a drug cartel, but has not produced any evidence for the charge. Maduro and other Venezuelan officials have forcefully rejected the accusation and have pointed to data that shows the majority of the cocaine that is produced in Colombia doesn’t go through Venezuela.
President Trump has also framed the military campaign in the region as a response to overdose deaths in the US due to fentanyl, but fentanyl isn’t produced in Venezuela, and it does not go through the country on its way to the US.
The Times report, which was published over the weekend, reads: “Several current and former military officials, diplomats, and intelligence officers say that while fighting drugs is the pretext for the recent US attacks, the real goal is to drive Mr. Maduro from power, one way or another.”
The US began bombing boats allegedly running drugs in the Caribbean on September 2. According to numbers released by President Trump, at least 17 people have been extrajudicially executed by the US military since the campaign began. US officials have said the Trump administration is considering direct strikes on Venezuelan territory, which could lead to a full-blown war with the country.
One US official speaking to Axios last month suggested that the US military buildup in the region could lead to a “Noriega part 2,” referring to the 1989 US invasion of Panama that led to the ouster of Manuel Noriega. Other US officials hope that the pressure and $50 million bounty on Maduro leads to his assassination.

He announced that a suspect had been arrested for the shooting, which made everyone hopeful that the case had been solved.
But Patel then had to backtrack a short while later and say that the person arrested was not the shooter.
This raised questions about whether Patel had gotten out ahead of himself based on incomplete information.
And this in turn raised questions about whether Patel is in over his head as Director of the FBI, as he has less experience than most people in this position typically do.

Both Beijing and New Delhi have previously rejected what they called Washington’s economic coercion

Earlier this month, Trump demanded that Brussels introduce tariffs of up to 100% on Indian and Chinese goods. The proposal was met with resistance by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who said the bloc would “make its own decisions.”
In late August, Washington imposed a 25% punitive tariff on India, bringing total import duties to 50% on most goods, citing New Delhi’s failure to curtail purchases of Russian oil. The US has yet to impose any new tariffs on Beijing, after a tariff war earlier this year resulted in a temporary truce.
Both Beijing and New Delhi rejected what they called America’s economic coercion. India will “undoubtedly be buying Russian oil,” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in early September. The country’s imports of crude oil from Russia rose by 5.6% last month to 1.6 million barrels per day.
China denounced what it described as “illicit unilateral sanctions” by the US and insisted it was “fully legitimate and lawful” for Beijing to maintain normal economic, trade and energy cooperation with all countries, including Russia.

The crisis engulfing Morgan McSweeney deepened after the bombshell email shed new light on a notorious episode in which his think-tank was fined in 2021 for 20 breaches of electoral law involving undeclared donations.
The email from the lawyer advised Mr McSweeney to drop his unsubstantiated claim that he had been told donations totalling £739,492 to Labour Together did not have to be declared. It warned him that unless he could back up the claim with evidence, it risked antagonising the Electoral Commission, which was investigating the scandal.
It told him instead to try to pass the episode off as a simple 'admin error'.
The email, seen by the Daily Mail, was published in full on Tuesday night by the Conservatives, who stepped up calls for the police to investigate the affair.

NEW STUDY: Cell Phone Radiation at 20× Below Legal Limit Induced Brain Damage in Rats
A new peer-reviewed study in Neurotoxicology has found that everyday cell phone–level radiation, 20 times below the US legal safety limit, disrupted brain development in infant rats and caused DNA damage in neural stem cells.
Researchers exposed pregnant rats and their offspring to 900 MHz radiofrequency radiation — a standard cell phone band — at the public whole-body safety limit of 0.08 W/kg, the threshold recommended by international regulators (ICNIRP).
For context, US regulators (FCC) allow cell phones to emit up to 1.6 W/kg as a localized dose near the head — 20 times higher than the level used in this study.
Even at this tiny fraction of the legal maximum, the young rats showed clear signs of brain injury and cellular stress — including fewer proliferating brain cells, reduced synapse formation, and disrupted brain chemistry:
Fewer Brain Cells and Synapses
Rat pups exposed before and after birth had fewer proliferating brain cells in the hippocampus and cortex, along with reduced synapse formation and altered excitatory/inhibitory balance during key developmental stages.
Disrupted Brain Chemistry
Levels of BDNF — a protein essential for learning and memory — dropped in exposed animals. The shift in synapse balance toward inhibition is consistent with patterns linked to cognitive impairment and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Altered Brain Cell Fate
Stem cells in culture became less likely to form neurons and more likely to differentiate into glial cells (astrocytes, oligodendrocyte precursors), pointing to a long-lasting shift in brain cell development.
DNA Damage and Cell Death
Neural stem cells exposed at the “public safety limit” of 0.08 W/kg developed DNA double-strand breaks, increased apoptosis (cell death), and stress-driven over-proliferation.
Oxidative Stress Not a Major Driver
The study measured oxidative stress markers in rat brains but did not find significant changes, suggesting the main damage pathways involved DNA integrity and altered cell differentiation, rather than oxidative stress alone.
One thing is clear: EMFs are not harmless. The fact that they are invisible to the eye does not mean they are without effect. Evidence indicates that developing infants are especially vulnerable, experiencing the most adverse outcomes from EMF exposure. Whenever possible, daily exposure should be minimized.
