Anon Theory - Musk has been estranged from the man his mother divorced, his father, whom they refer to as abusive, at least since the latter married and had children with his step daughter (from one of his 3 wives), technically Elon's step-sister.
Musk responded to, and bonded with, Trump as a surrogate father - a father he wished he had, instead of the one he did.
So when Trump did not do everything Musk wanted, Musk had a visceral "break up," lashing out at Trump publicly - perhaps as he wished he had, or could, at his own father, with an outsized level of emotion, and with his judgment clouded by the fooding emotions from the trauma trigger, because of his deep wound in the father slot.
If the theory is accurate, there is no guarantee that it won't, and indeed a likelihood that it could, happen again - once a closeness is established again (if it ever is) with Trump, or any other father figure.
It is an unconscious trauma reaction. The trigger is buried, but accessible. The recipient of the wrath can easily set it off unknowingly and, in fact, be completely innocent of the acts to which displaced anger is responding - because the wound is caused by something that occurred in the past. What is triggering it is the present is similar enough, on an emotion level, to the circumstances that caused the wound, so the unexpressed anger that is meant for the original offender is unleashed on the unsuspecting, unrelated person in the present.
Trauma wounds can be healed, like any trauma trigger, by working with a skilled trauma therapist and doing trauma processing with techniques such as EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).
