Ryan Routh found guilty in Trump golf course assassination attempt

Routh started stabbing himself in the neck with a pen in the courtroom after the verdict was read.

By Juliette Arcodia and Corky Siemaszko

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — The trial of Ryan Wesley Routh came to a dramatic end Tuesday when he started stabbing himself in the neck with a pen after a Florida jury found him guilty of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump last year on a golf course.

==After just two-and-half hours of deliberations, the panel also found Routh guilty of assaulting the Secret Service agent who rousted him from his hiding place and guilty of three federal gun charges stemming from the Sept. 15, 2024, incident.

Routh, who had pleaded not guilty to all the charges, now faces life in prison when he is sentenced.

The verdict came in not long after Routh capped his two-week trial, during which he served as his own attorney, by delivering a brief and disjointed closing argument during which he tried to argue that there was no crime because he never fired a shot at Trump.

But just 12 minutes into his monologue,U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon interrupted Routh and scolded him for ignoring her order to "stay within the bounds of the case" after he started complainingthat he wasn't allowed to put more witnesses on the stand.

With the jury out of earshot, Routh then asked Cannon whether the public defenders who initially represented him, Kristy Militello and Renee Michelle Sihvola, could wrap up his closing argument if the judge interrupted him again.

Cannon said no, and when the jury returned Routh argued that "to merely have a weapon in the presence of another does not mean intent."

But after Routh brought up the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill and began talking about Ukraine, founding father Patrick Henry and the "common man," Cannon put a halt to his argument. In total, Routh spoke for about 42 minutes.

A 59-year-old Hawaii resident and former Trump supporter, Routh is charged with attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate and assaulting a federal officer, plus several firearm violations.

The government delivered its closing argument first, with prosecutor Christopher Browne telling the court that the suspect had planned to kill Trump "for a long, long time."

"It is not every case where the defendant writes his intent down on a piece of paper," Browne said during his closing statement.

Browne was referring to note Routh wrote before he was arrested. It was addressed "To the World" and stated plainly, "This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump."

"This is not a whodunit," Browne told jurors.

Starting with the pretrial hearings and throughout the trial in federal court here, Routh was admonished repeatedly by Cannon for disrupting the proceedings and asking witnesses questions that the judge deemed outside the scope of the case or irrelevant.

On Monday, Routh asked his own ballistics expert, Michael McClay, “Does it take a special kind of person to be able to take another person’s life?” Cannon called for a break before McClay could answer and later told Routh the question was "far outside the bounds."

Routh called two character witnesses on the stand who testified that he was not violent and is a "jolly person." After that, Routh announced, "I will not testify."

When Cannon asked the accused man if he had enough time to think this momentous decision through, Routh answered, "A year."

Routh was arrested after a Secret Service agent spotted him hiding in the shrubbery near the fifth hole of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and, according to prosecutors, waiting for Trump to get into his line of fire.

Routh, who is not a lawyer, asked Cannon at a hearing in July for permission to represent himself after clashing with his court-appointed attorneys, saying they were “a million miles apart.”

Cannon reluctantly agreed, calling it a "bad idea," but ordered the public defenders to stay in the courtroom on standby and ordered Routh not to approach the witnesses.

Federal prosecutors called 38 witnesses over a span of seven days who placed Routh at the scene and testified that the suspect could have killed Trump had he not been caught.

Routh called three witnesses and was done presenting his case before lunchtime Monday.

The closing arguments came two days after Trump spoke at a memorial service for the popular-but-polarizing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whose murder on a Utah college campus earlier this month has ratcheted-up anxieties about political violence in the United States.

Cannon was appointed to the bench by Trump and is the same judge who dismissed the charges against the president after he was accused of mishandling classified documents at his home at Mar-a-Lago.

Tucker Carlson Releases Episode One of The 9/11 Files: The CIA’s Secret Mission Gone Wrong

September 23, 2025 | Sundance |

Tucker Carlson’s team have been investigating the events of 9/11. Today they release the first segment of a multi-phase docuseries.

A former FBI agent who was embedded in the CIA’s Bin Laden unit,Mark Rossini, claims the CIA was fully aware that the 9/11 hijackers were in the United States planning an attack.

Rather than inform the FBI, the CIA tried to recruit two of the hijackers for a “false-flag” operation, which quickly spiraled out of control. The failed mission raises urgent questions about government secrecy, intelligence failures, and what really happened before 9/11.

It's pretty obvious, he's washing his hands of trying to negotiate when they don't want to. Mostly Ukraine and Zelensky. If Zelensky settles with Russia. He is out on his ass, because he is not a legal leaders. As Putin has said he can't even sign a peace document.

I have a sense that Trump spoke Putin and he knows it's Ukraine preventing ending the war.

Elon Musk’s Father Errol Accused Of Sexually Abusing His Own Children

September 23, 20253:16 PM ET

Elon Musk’s father Errol has been accused of sexually abusing his five children and fathering a child with his stepdaughter, according to a New York Times investigation published Monday.

The report, citing police and court records, family interviews, social workers and personal correspondence, alleged Errol abused children and stepchildren in South Africa and California. The earliest allegation dates to 1993, when his then 4-year-old stepdaughter accused him of touching her, the Times

The same stepdaughter later accused Errol of sniffing her dirty underwear and said she gave birth to his child in her 20s, according to the Times. She said she has since struggled with drug use. Her mother — who was married to Errol twice — has also battled mental health issues.

Other family members alleged Errol abused two of his daughters and his stepson. The most recent accusation surfaced in 2023, when a social worker intervened after Errol’s then 5-year-old son claimed he groped him, the report said.

The separate police investigations were reportedly opened, though two were closed and the outcome of the third remains unclear. Errol, 79, has never been convicted of a crime. He has at least nine children and stepchildren and has been married three times.

Errol dismissed the allegations as “false and nonsense in the extreme” in a statement to the Times.

He claimed relatives had coached children to make false accusations in an attempt to extract money from Elon. The Times also said it received an email from Errol acknowledging one abuse allegation and offering explanations for two others.

Elon himself has describedhis father in stark terms. In a 2017 Rolling Stone profile, he called Errol a “terrible human being” who had done “almost every evil thing you could possibly think of … It’s so terrible, you can’t believe it.

Hey, I’m Walking Here! — Emmanuel Macron Gets Dose Of Big-American-City Living, Calls Trump For Help

JOHN LOFTUSEDITOR AT LARGE

September 23, 202510:47 AM ET

French President Emmanuel Macron was forced to walk the streets of Manhattan on Monday night like any average New Yorker, even after he called President Donald Trump for help clearing a traffic jam.

Macron visited New York City on Monday to address the United Nations and formally recognize the Palestine as a state on behalf of France. However, he encountered a quintessential Big Apple moment when his vehicle was stuck amid dense traffic due to the United Nations and Trump’s motorcade.

In a curious turn of events, the head of state was seen exiting his car and reportedly reaching out to Trump for assistance. An odd video captured the incident, as Macron can be seen appealing to an NYPD officer for help navigating through the gridlock shortly after delivering his address to the United Nations.

Of course, the cop wasn’t going to do anything (nor could he, really), soMacron tried to get Trumpon the horn to make things happen.

“How are you?Guess what, I’m waiting in the street because everything is closed for you,” he jokingly told Trump on the phone, asking the U.S. president to clear the way.

We don’t know what Trump said, but it would be nice to think it was something to the effect of, “Take a walk, buddy.”

Macron was then forced to hoof it 30 minutes through Manhattan streets, where he took pictures and selfies with people on the street. At one point, a man reportedly kissed him on the head, prompting Macron to tell his security team not to body slam the fan into the concrete.

As a Frenchman, Macron may have welcomed the stroll, as Europeans do love to walk everywhere. However, New York’s streets are not as idyllic as those in Paris or other cities across Europe, whose inhabitants are more laid back.

Perhaps he felt compelled to call Trump because he knows that the Big Apple sidewalks are not the safest places in the world. There are homeless vagrants, drug addicts, and, maybe worst of all, New Yorkers, who will run you over if you are not paying attention, especially if you are a tourist stopping for selfies.

Google Reverses Course In Victory For Creators Banned From YouTube Over Political Speech

Melissa O'RourkeReporter

September 23, 202512:52 PM ET

Google, YouTube’s parent company, will give video creators who were previously banned for violating political speech guidelines a chance to return to the platform, the company announced Tuesday.

In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee dated Sept. 23, Alphabet, Google’s holding company, acknowledged that it terminated YouTube channels for violating its guidelines on election integrity and COVID-19-related content. The company also disclosed that Biden administration officials repeatedly “pressed” it to remove content that did not violate company policy, but was deemed by the administration to be “misinformation.”

“YouTube will provide an opportunity for all creators to rejoin the platform if the Company terminates their channels for repeated violations of COVID-19 and election integrity policies that are no longer in effect,” Daniel Donovan, counsel for Alphabet, wrote in the letter.

“Senior Biden Administration officials, including White House officials, conducted repeated and sustained outreach to Alphabet and pressed the Company regarding certain user-generated content related to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not violate its policies,” Donovan continued. “It is unacceptable and wrong when any government, including the Biden Administration, attempts to dictate how the Company moderates content,” he wrote, adding that the company “fought against” those efforts.

Before December 2024, YouTube had several policies that limited discussions of COVID-19, including various treatments, according to the letter. YouTube announced in June 2023 that it would reverse a December 2020 policy that removed content that “misleads people by alleging that widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sued Google in August 2023 after his videos were repeatedly removed under the company’s “vaccine misinformation” policies.

“While the reliance on health authorities in this context was well-intentioned, the Company recognized it should never come at the expense of public debate on these important issues,” the letter stated.

Alphabet’s announcement followed a years-long investigation by the House Judiciary Committee into how the Biden White House coerced or colluded with Big Tech firms to censor speech. Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a subpoena to Alphabet in March requesting communications between the company and the Biden administration to determine how the previous White House sought to limit Americans’ access to free speech.

On his X account, Jordan called Alphabet’s concessions “massive wins for the American people, the First Amendment, and freedom,” adding, “We won’t stop fighting to protect free speech.”

Previous Judiciary Committee investigations revealed that Facebook and Instagram censored posts and altered content moderation policies in response to pressure from the Biden administration.

Was Trump sabotaged by UN staff during his visit?

First the escalator broke down when Melania Trump stepped on it, then the president’s teleprompter stopped

Tuesday September 23 2025, 9.10pm BST, The Times

President Trump and the first lady arriving at the UN headquarters in New York

A series of glitches during President Trump’s day at the United Nations have raised suspicions about whether he was deliberately sabotaged by staff.

Last week, The Sunday Times reported that UN workers joked about turning off an escalator. On Monday, an escalator broke down as Melania Trump, the first lady, stepped onto it.

It was one of several glitches that raised suspicions about whether Trump was targeted by people inside the institution he has so strongly criticised.

When Trump got to the podium, the teleprompter was not working — although service was later restored — while the main UN audio feed to TV news channels switched over to a foreign language translation towards the end of his speech, obscuring some of his words.

The Sunday Times reported that figures inside the UN had been overheard “joking” before the event about stunts they could pull to highlight the funding shortage faced by the organizationbecause the Trump administration was withholding cash.

One idea doing the rounds was to turn off the escalators and lifts and simply tell Trump they ran out of money, so he had to walk up the stairs.

On Tuesday, the escalators in the entrance hall to the UN building in New York were working perfectly up to the crucial moment that the first lady stepped foot on one, leading her and Trump to walk up the stalled steps.

If this was a deliberate act designed to embarrass the president, it backfired when Trump worked it into his speech. After criticising the UN for doing nothing to assist with his peacemaking efforts in ending wars,Trump said: “All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that, on the way up, stopped right in the middle. If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would have fallen. But she’s in great shape. We’re both in good shape. We both stood.”

Trump added: “Then a teleprompter that didn’t work. These are the two things I got from the United Nations — a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. Thank you very much. And by the way, it’s working now. Just went on. Thank you.”

The president’s spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, said in response to the Sunday Times story: “If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the president and first lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately.”

A UN spokesman said that all three incidents were genuine mishaps.

“Regarding the escalator: The safety mechanism was inadvertently triggered by someone who was ahead of the president on the escalator. The escalator was immediately reset and is in operation,”said Farhan Aziz Haq for the UN.

“Regarding the teleprompter, we have no comment since we don’t operate that teleprompter. The interpretation audio was heard when a non-official interpreter pressed the wrong button, which briefly allowed a non-UN interpreter to be heard,” he said.

Pam Bondi’s Chief Of Staff Departs DOJ

Reagan Reese White House Correspondent September 23, 2025

Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi’sChief of Staff Chad Mizelle is departing the administration to spend more time with his family in Florida, an official confirmed to the Daily Caller.

Mizelle told Axios that he will be “exposing the left-wing groups responsible for violence across America” to help build on the Trump administration’s mission. The chief of staff was a “key ally” of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Axios reported.

“[Mizelle] served this Department with professionalism, sound judgment, and dedication,” Bondi told Axios in a statement.“As Chief of Staff, Chad played a central role in coordinating the Department’s operations, ensuring its resources were aligned and our efforts were carried out with integrity and efficiency. His counsel strengthened our work to advance justice and protect the American people. I am grateful for his service and friendship.”

While serving as Bondi’s chief of staff, he oversaw the Civil Division and Civil Rights Division, Axios reported.

“Chad’s tenure at the Department has been marked by exceptional leadership and dedication to the Department,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told the outlet.

“He provided Attorney General Bondi and all of us with outstanding counsel, and his steady hand helped guide our work. Chad played a key role in advancing the President’s America First agenda here at the Department, and his efforts strengthened our mission to protect the American people,” he continued.

Bondi has come under fire from the president’s base in recent months. The attorney general first faced criticism after the Department of Justice (DOJ) quietly released a memo indicating that after months of investigation, there was no Epstein client list and the investigation was over.

Most recently, Trump wrote a Truth Social post expressing his frustration with his attorney general and the rate of her prosecutions. Days before, Bondi had responded to the assassination of Charlie Kirk by saying the DOJ would be cracking down on “hate speech.”

“There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society … We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech,” Bondi said on the Katie Miller podcast. (RELATED: Reporter Presses Trump About Bondi Saying She Will Pursue Americans For Hate Speech)

The attorney general later tried to clarify her remarks, saying the DOJ would instead prosecute speech “that crosses the line into threats of violence.”

Baby Found Alive in Apartment Complex Dumpster in Texas

Katherine Hamilton22 Sep 2025

A baby was discovered alive in a dumpster at an apartment complex in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, according to the Austin Police Department (APD).

The baby girl was found in a dumpster in the 8600 block of North Lamar Boulevard, according to the department’s Watch Command, KVUE reported. The police department was first notified about the child at around 1:35 p.m.

Perry Lewis, a resident of the apartment, said he was getting ready to leave home when his neighbor told him that he heard crying from the dumpster.

“He said it might be a baby,” Lewis said. “So we ran over there, and it took us a couple of seconds.”

Lewis said they ran over to the dumpster, where they saw a baby girl covered in trash and dirt.Lewis said the baby was “covered in blood” and her “umbilical cord [was] still attached.

Another resident, Lerrssy Frausto, said she grabbed the infant and began chest compressions while they called first responders.

“The way that she was found in the trash can – upside down, with her head facing the trash can – hurt me. Me trying to open up her eye – I couldn’t open up her eye, but it broke me,” Frausto said.“Her other eye just started rolling to the back of her head, and I’m just like, ‘Please stay with me.'

APD Officer Aaron Townsend said first responders transported the baby girl to Dell Children’s Medical Center.Authorities said the baby girl is doing well but is still in the hospital for evaluation, according to the report. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the little girl is healthy and will likely be discharged soon.

Townsend said detectives are working to track down the mother and whoever else may be responsible for abandoning the child.

Frausto told the outlet her biggest hope is that the baby ends up with “someone that loves her, that truly loves her, truly wants to be a parent to her.”

Frausto named the baby “Miracle Angel.”

“She’s a miracle from God and an angel from the skies,” Frausto said. “She was crying in the trash can. That’s how they heard her cry, so she saved herself before anybody could save her.”

Police said they do not know how long the baby was in the dumpster before she was found.

The investigation was ongoing as of Monday. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call APD’s Child Abuse Unit at 512-974-6880 or submit a tip anonymously to austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
