Europe wants to launch a life-hunting mission to Saturn's icy ocean moon Enceladus
September 27, 2025
The European Space Agency (ESA) is setting the long-term goal of sending a spacecraft to Saturn's icy moon Enceladus to answer key science questions and drive the development of new technologies.
Enceladus is one of the most intriguing moons in the solar system due to the discovery by NASA's Cassini probe of plumes of water ice erupting from the moon's south polar region.
The find indicates geological activity on Enceladus, along with a subsurface ocean of liquid water — and perhaps even an environment capable of sustaining life.
ESA is now targeting a mission to study enigmatic Enceladus as part of its Voyage 2050, the agency's long-term plan for space science activities, according to ESA officials at the Europlanet Science Congress (EPSC) and Division for Planetary Sciences (DPS) joint meeting, which was held in Helsinki in early September.
The Enceladus mission, though in its earliest stages, will need both an orbiter and a lander to answer major science questions, with the orbiter to be designed to sample material in the plumes emanating from the "tiger stripes" at the south pole.
An early mission configuration following first industrial studies calls for two launches of the largest variant of the Ariane 6 rocket, with spacecraft to dock in Earth orbit.
Next, approval is needed at the ESA ministerial meeting in Bremen, Germany, in November, allowing a mission definition phase, leading to mission adoption in 2034 and a launch around 2042.
The spacecraft would then arrive in the Saturn system in 2053, starting a tour of Enceladus and other moons, collection of plume material and preparation for a landing around 2058.
Jörn Helbert of ESA's European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) stated in a presentation at EPSC-DPS that, since March of this year, the ESA study team has been working with a newly selected payload working group and an expert committee to refine the science requirements and identify key technologies.
The Enceladus mission aims to advance European expertise in several scientific and technological fields, including in-orbit assembly, operating in extreme environments, landing technologies and novel scientific instrumentation, according to Helbert.
He added that the development of these technologies will have wide-ranging applications beyond ESA's space science program.
Helbert noted that Enceladus has three necessary conditions for supporting life as we know it: the presence of liquid water, a source of energy and a specific set of chemical elements.
An answer to the question of whether or not life exists below Enceladus's icy shell may, however, require decades of efforts in terms of planning, resources and innovation.

What is the Nature of 3I/ATLAS?
September 27, 2025
Imagine noticing a new animal in your backyard with a tail coming out of its forehead instead of its rear end. After looking at its image, experts argue that it must be a cat because cats have a tail.
You point out that cats do not have an anti-tail but the experts dismiss the anomaly and keep telling reporters that any street animal with a tail must be a cat.
You also calculate that the animal is at least a thousand times more massive than the only street cat that was previously identified in your backyard, but experts dismiss the anomaly and argue that some cats might be much bigger than others.
You also realize that the animal moves along a rare path targeting specific assets near your house, and sheds materials with a composition of industrially-made nickel alloys, but experts ignore these inconvenient facts and claim that rare things happen all the time. While you keep your focus on the animal, zealot influencers, bloggers and science popularizers say loudly that considering anything other than a cat is harmful to science and dangerous to society, because we all know that street cats are common.
You write multiple reports about the various anomalies of this animal, suggesting to keep an open mind about its nature.
The editor handling your report on the anomalous mass of this animal scrutinizes the wording you use and requests that you will describe the animal as an unusually massive cat and not speculate on alternatives.
The same editor goes public and makes negative personal remarks about you, and his boss explains that there is nothing unethical about this behavior.
When you write another paper to explain the properties of the anti-tail coming from the head of the animal based on known physics, a different editor declines to process the manuscript for review by arguing: “I believe that your results would be of rather limited interest to the research community as a whole.”
If this sounds like a hallucinated nightmare, think twice.
To make it real, all you need to do is replace the term street animal’ withinterstellar object’, cat’ withcomet’, backyard’ with theinner solar system’, animal’ with3I/ATLAS’, and the previous street-cat’ with2I/Borisov’.
An editor did make the quoted statement about the paper I wrote with Eric Keto (accessible here) which is the only paper in the literature providing a physical explanation for the anti-tail observed in the highest resolution image of 3I/ATLAS, taken on July 21, 2025 by the Hubble Space Telescope (accessible here).
In addition, 3I/ATLAS followed a fine-tuned path aligned with the ecliptic plane of the planets (as discussed here) and shed nickel without iron (as reported here).
The new study that I co-authored on the anomalously high mass of 3I/ATLAS based on the lack of non-gravitational acceleration (accessible here), is still blocked from public view for several days by arXiv moderators without an explanation.
1/2
The best way to resolve this saga of self-propagated ignorance about the nature of the `street animal’ in our backyard is to obtain a high-resolution image of it from a surveillance camera close to its path.
Indeed, within a week we expect to get an image of 3I/ATLAS with a spatial resolution that is a hundred times better than that of the Hubble image.
The HiRISE camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is expected to achieve a pixel resolution of 30 kilometers on October 3, 2025 when 3I/ATLAS will be at a distance of 29 million kilometers from it.
The amount of sunlight reflected from the brightest pixel in the HiRISE image will inform us of the nucleus surface area for an assumed albedo value.
The first recognized interstellar object, 1I/Oumuamua, did not show any evidence for a tail. Comet experts insist that thisanimal’ is a cat with an invisible tail’, namely adark comet’ (as discussed here).
That an animal without a tail’ is labeled adark cat’ by mainstream scientists illustrates how dogmatic is the culture of present-day academia.
Within this culture, anomalies are ignored, attempts to explain them using known physics are sidelined and scientists who dare to challenge traditional thinking are ridiculed on social media.
The most pressing question about the nature of 3I/ATLAS is whether it is natural or technological in origin. Secondary to this question is where it came from. As of now, we do not know.
The five anomalies of 3I/ATLAS, including its anomalously polarized light (as reported here), suggest that we are missing something, but dogmatists insist that there is nothing fundamentally new to be learned.
With that mindset, challenging evidence is not studied in sufficient detail and the opportunity to learn something new is missed because of unwarranted orthodoxy.
The self-imposed ignorance inflicted by the refusal to be open minded is easy to correct. We must reward scientists who challenge orthodoxy and focus attention on anomalies.
Instead of insisting that all street-animals’ in our backyard arecats’, we must study agnostically the visitors who appear unusually massive, move on rare fine-tuned trajectories, show strange tails and shed unusual chemicals.
Such a research focus will allow us to learn something new about our cosmic neighborhood and provide the practical benefit of protecting our family from existential threats.
Non-avian dinosaurs failed to recognize the existential threat from asteroids. 66-million years later, humans actively search for killer asteroids but fail to recognize the existential threat from alien technology.
Future wars tend to be different from past wars. Will earthlings ever learn how to defend themselves against the next major threat?

The First Commercial Space Station Just Got an Official Watch. It’s Not an Omega
September 26, 2025
The Omega Speedmaster is by far the watch most associated with outer space, and it remains the only watch authorized by NASA for use during extravehicular activity (AKA space walks).
But dozens of other watches have ventured outside Earth’s atmosphere, from early astronaut favorites like the Rolex GMT-Master to Fortis’s continuing flights with various space agencies around the globe.
One brand that has recently taken a liking to outer space is IWC.
Last year, the Schaffhausen-based brand created four special chronographs to accompany the crew of the Polaris Dawn mission, with the space-worn watches later being auctioned off for charity.
Now, IWC is entering the next phase in its conquest of space by being named the official timekeeper of the solar system’s first commercial space station.
International Watch Station
Founded in 2021, Vast plans to kick off the next Space Age by launching the first commercial space station.
Currently under construction with plans to launch next year, the Haven-1 space station will function as a state-of-the-art “human-centric” space station for both private astronauts and government projects.
Vast’s ultimate goal is to create long-term living solutions for humans in space, and Haven-1 is the first step toward that goal.
Central to reaching that literally lofty goal is the Haven-1 Lab, a facility on the station devoted to research, development and manufacturing in outer space.
That’s largely where IWC’s watches come into play.
IWC will develop prototype space watches, which will then be tested by Vast at the company’s headquarters.
Vast will put the watches through simulated launches and test their material compatibility with Haven-1, in the same way it tests other critical equipment that will be used on the space station.
However, the partnership has even more ambitious goals in mind for the future, with IWC stating that its ultimate goal with the Vast partnership is to “enhance the durability and performance of mechanical watches on Earth and push the boundaries of watchmaking in the environment of space.”
Reading between the lines here, it sure sounds like IWC hopes to one day build a watch in outer space.
That would certainly “push the boundaries of watchmaking in the environment of space,” and since the Haven-1 Lab will boast manufacturing capabilities, it seems like IWC already has the perfect venue for launching, so to speak, the first space-made watch.
IWC points to its near-century of experience as a maker of pilot’s watches as proof that it is the watchmaker best suited to accompany Vast on this next generation of space travel, and if the brand actually does end up manufacturing a watch in space sometime in the future, then Omega might just have to relinquish its title as the definitive space watch.

US Space Force releases new Human Performance and Readiness manual
Sept. 26, 2025
ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) – The U.S. Space Force released its first Space Force Manual 36-2905, Human Performance and Readiness, which establishes clear, mission-focused standards to optimize Guardian fitness and readiness.
All Guardians are now required to complete a Human Performance Assessment once a year if they are enrolled in the Continuous Fitness Assessment Personalized Readiness Integrated Through Monitoring and Engagement study and twice per year if they are not.
The HPA measures muscular strength, muscular endurance and cardiorespiratory fitness on an 80-point scale. Guardians must earn a composite score of 60 or higher to be considered physically ready. One of the HPAs must include a 2-mile run.
To implement the manual, squadrons will establish Unit Fitness Cells staffed by Guardian Resilience Teams.
Unit commanders and UFCs will ensure all Guardians complete an initial HPA between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2026. Physical fitness testing will not be required before Jan. 1, 2026, to allow time for UFCs to be established and Guardians to prepare.
“The Space Force human performance standards are mission-driven and tailored to the unique physical and cognitive demands of our Guardians,” said Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman.
“The manual reflects our commitment to investing in Guardian health, resilience, and long-term performance, and ensures we’re ready to thrive and win in the most demanding operational environments.”
The manual incorporates human performance standards within the Space Force’s Holistic Health Approach, a science-based model that emphasizes Total Force Fitness across eight domains: physical, financial, spiritual, preventive care, environmental, nutritional, psychological and social.
This supports the Secretary of the Air Force’s Culture of Fitness initiative and aligns with the Under Secretary of the Air Force’s efforts to enhance fitness and readiness.
“The Human Performance and Readiness Manual directly supports our commitment to emphasize the Guardian Experience and to execute our mission to deter threats and control the space domain,” said Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force John Bentivegna.
“Our ability to maintain space superiority hinges on the readiness and resilience of our Guardians, who are our most valuable advantage … our Human Weapon System.
This manual equips them with the standards and resources necessary to meet the unique physical and cognitive demands of modern space warfare, ensuring they are always prepared to safeguard our nation's interests.”
The manual retains the existing Space Force body composition program without changes.
SPFMAN 36-2905 reflects the Space Force’s commitment to developing warfighters capable of meeting the demands of modern space warfare through a technology-enabled, persistent readiness system.

‘Spaceballs 2′ brings Rick Moranis back to space spoof
September 26, 2025 at 11:32 am EDT
They’ve already gone to plaid. Production has begun on “Spaceballs 2″ 38 years after the original Mel Brooks space spoof was released.
The cast, including Dark Helmet himself, Rick Moranis, gathered for a table read.
Moranis stepped back from acting after the death of his wife in 1991, focusing instead on raising his children, IGN reported. He said he didn’t officially retire, but was “picky” about projects.
His last starring role on camera was in 1997’s “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.” He also did voice work in “Brother Bear” and other shows, according to IMDB.
He also appeared in a Mint Mobile commercial alongside Ryan Reynolds.
The rest of the surviving members of the original cast, including Brooks (Yogurt/President Skroob), Daphne Zuniga (Princess Vespa), Bill Pullman (Lone Starr) and George Wyner (Colonel Sandurz) will return.
They will be joined by stars Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Anthony Carrigan and Pullman’s actor son, Lewis Pullman.
Lewis Pullman’s character is Starburst while Palmer will play Destiny. It is not known who Gad and Carrigan will portray.
A photo mimicking the table read from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was released by Amazon.
The plot still hasn’t been released, with Amazon saying it is being kept under "lock, key, and an industrial-strength Schwartz shield.”
Gad, along with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, wrote the screenplay with Josh Greenbaum directing. Brooks, Gad and Greenbaum are among the producers alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, George Wyner said.
It is being described as “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.”
Three decades ago, a potential sequel was teased in the original film as “Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.”
The new film will be released to theaters 40 years after its predecessor in 2027.

Democrats release redacted Epstein records mentioning Elon Musk
26 Sep, 2025 23:20
Congressional Democrats have released a new batch of documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate that mention billionaire Elon Musk, ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon, and investor Peter Thiel, fueling the political controversy over the late financier’s ties to powerful men.
The Democratic members of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability published six heavily redacted pages on Friday, part of the 8,544 documents turned over by Epstein’s estate.
Among them was a 2014 calendar entry reading: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)”
Epstein's private island in the US Virgin Islands, Little Saint James, was a notorious getaway vacation for the rich and powerful, who were provided with underage American girls.
Musk denied that he had ever traveled to the island, posting on X on Friday: “This is false.” The Tesla and SpaceX chief has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein at his New York townhouse years earlier, but said he rejected repeated invitations to the island and considered Epstein “obviously a creep.”
Other entries listed a planned lunch with Thiel in November 2017 and a February 2019 breakfast with Bannon. It remains unclear whether the meetings actually occurred.
None of the three has been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, who allegedly committed suicide in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial for the sex trafficking of minors.
Democratic committee spokeswoman Sara Guerrero said documents showed Epstein was “friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world” and pledged to continue releasing records.
“Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims,” she said.
Republicans pushed back, accusing Democrats of selectively publishing material that highlights only their political opponents.
“They are intentionally withholding documents that contain names of Democrat officials, and the information they released today is old news,” a GOP Oversight spokesperson told Fox News.
Republicans said they intend to publish the files in full at a later date.
The release also included a flight log showing the UK's Prince Andrew traveling with Epstein from New Jersey to Florida in 2000. The files mentioned that Epstein booked a “tentative breakfast party” with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in December 2014.
Both men have long faced scrutiny over their ties to Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of sex trafficking and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in 2022.

Kiev false-flag provocation could lead to World War 3 – Zakharova
26 Sep, 2025 19:11
Ukraine is planning a possible false-flag operation in Romania or Poland that could escalate into a third world war, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.
In a Telegram post on Friday, she pointed to reports in Hungarian media alleging that Kiev intends to stage acts of sabotage in neighboring NATO countries and place responsibility on Moscow.
”Europe has never been so close to the outbreak of World War 3 in modern history,” Zakharova wrote.
According to the information available, the Kiev regime’s plan is to repair several downed or intercepted Russian UAVs, fit them with lethal warheads, and – controlled by Ukrainian specialists – send them disguised as “Russian drones” to major NATO transport hubs in Poland and Romania, Zakharova continued.
At the same time, they would run a disinformation campaign across Europe to pin the blame on Moscow and thereby try to provoke an armed conflict between the Russian Federation and NATO, she added.
In order to carry out this alleged provocation, Russian-made ‘Geran’ drones were reportedly delivered on September 16 to the Yavorov training ground in western Ukraine, which hosts the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the Hetman Petro Sagaidachny National Academy. The UAVs had reportedly earlier been repaired at the LORTA plant in Lviv.
Zakharova cited Hungarian journalists as saying that the reason for these actions by Vladimir Zelensky is straightforward: the Ukrainian armed forces are suffering a crushing defeat.
The collapse of the army, they argued, is no longer limited to the tactical level but has taken on a strategic dimension.
If all this is confirmed, it means that Europe has never been so close to the start of World War 3, Zakharova concluded.

Nuclear watchdog chief vying for UN leadership role
26 Sep, 2025 21:09
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has said he would like to become the next UN Secretary-General to restore the organization’s credibility and effectiveness.
In an exclusive interview with RT on Friday, Grossi, who is in Moscow for the Global Atomic Forum, stated that the many military conflicts currently raging across the globe seem to have one thing in common – the “UN is absent” from them as far as meaningful peace efforts are concerned.
”I think that we have to restore the ability of the United Nations to be part of the solution” to military conflagrations, the IAEA chief argued.
He suggested that his commitment to maintaining dialogue with all parties in any given conflict, as opposed to self-righteous finger-pointing, could help achieve this goal.
Grossi noted that he has “been in constant dialogue with [Russian] President Vladimir Putin” since 2022, “when many people in the West” dismissed the very idea of having a conversation with him due to the Ukraine conflict.
When asked about Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which has been under Russian control since 2022, Grossi said that “tension there is palpable.”
The official, who has visited the facility several times himself, noted that “for more than three years, [the IAEA has] had experts that are living there, at the plant.”
Given the fact that the power plant contains “six big nuclear reactors that are situated almost at the contact line, front line,” the watchdog is “trying to manage the situation so we can avoid a nuclear accident before a ceasefire [or] a peace agreement” is agreed upon, he clarified.
Grossi also dismissed Iranian allegations that the IAEA had effectively sided with the US and Israel as they conducted massive airstrikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities earlier this year.
He insisted that the organization has sought to maintain “dialogue among [the] belligerents.” The official emphasized that “we don’t want to see attacks on nuclear facilities of any kind. There is no ambiguity.”
Grossi also warned against sidelining international bodies such as the IAEA as this risks undermining their mandate to “work with everybody.”

World faces huge surge in cancer deaths – study
26 Sep, 2025 13:21
The annual global cancer death toll is projected to climb by nearly 75% by 2050, reaching 18.6 million, driven largely by population growth and aging, according to a study published in The Lancet on Thursday.
More than half of new cancer cases and two-thirds of deaths will occur in low- and middle-income countries, the latest update from the Global Burden of Disease Study Cancer Collaborators predicted.
“Cancer remains an important contributor to disease burden globally and our study highlights how it is anticipated to grow substantially over the coming decades, with disproportionate growth in countries with limited resources,” said lead author Dr. Lisa Force of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington.
IHME, based in Seattle, leads the ongoing research, which draws on data from cancer registries and caregiver interviews dating back to 1990. Between 1990 and 2023, annual new cancer cases more than doubled to 18.5 million worldwide, and the upward trend is expected to continue.
Tobacco use – particularly among men – remains the leading cause of cancer mortality, responsible for an estimated 21% of all cancer deaths in 2023. In most countries it was the top risk factor, except in low-income nations where unsafe sex, leading to human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, ranked first.
Other major risks for men included alcohol consumption, unhealthy diets, occupational exposures, and air pollution. Among women, obesity and high blood sugar were significant contributors.
Co-author Dr. Theo Vos said the fact that so many cancer deaths stem from modifiable risk factors presents “tremendous opportunities” for prevention by targeting behaviors such as smoking, poor diet, and unsafe sexual practices.

Zelensky is ‘losing his mind’ – EU state’s foreign minister
27 Sep, 2025 02:18
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has issued a sharp rebuke of Vladimir Zelensky, claiming that Kiev has become obsessed with Budapest and is imagining threats that do not exist.
Zelensky alleged on Friday that Hungarian drones had violated western Ukrainian airspace, suggesting they “may have been conducting reconnaissance on the industrial potential of Ukraine’s border areas.”
“President Zelensky is losing his mind to his anti-Hungarian obsession,” Szijjarto wrote on X in response, adding that “he is now starting to see things that aren’t there.”
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga fired back, stating that “no amount of your attacks on our President will change what we – and everyone – see.”
“We are starting to see a lot of things, Peter, including your government’s hypocrisy and moral degradation, open and covert work against Ukraine and the rest of Europe, serving as a Kremlin lackey,” the Ukrainian diplomat wrote.
Szijjarto also accused Kiev of pursuing an “anti-Hungarian policy” after Ukraine declared three senior Hungarian military officials persona non grata earlier on Friday.
Relations between Hungary and Ukraine have been tense for years. Budapest has resisted pressure from Brussels and Washington to provide weapons to Kiev or support EU sanctions against Russia, arguing that such moves would harm Hungarian national interests.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban has also accused Ukraine of discriminating against the Hungarian minority in its Transcarpathia Region and of undermining his country’s energy security by attacking the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Central Europe.
Hungary blocked EU accession talks with Ukraine earlier this year and has continued to call for negotiations to end the conflict rather than further sanctions or military escalation.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York this week, Szijjarto warned that as long as the hostilities continue, “events will occur that carry the risk of escalation” between NATO and Russia, insisting that peace is the only way to bring that risk “down to zero.”

Iran and Russia sign $25bn nuclear plant deal
27 Sep, 2025 11:42
Iran has signed a $25 billion agreement with Russia’s state energy corporation Rosatom to construct four nuclear power plants, Tehran’s IRNA news agency reported on Friday.
The agreement was concluded on Wednesday at the Atom Expo 2025 exhibition in Moscow. Rosatom described the project as “strategic.”
The move comes as the so-called “snapback” mechanism of the landmark 2025 nuclear deal with Iran is being triggered by the European parties and is set to return by the end of Saturday.
Britain, France and Germany initiated the sanctions last month, accusing Iran of failing to adhere to its commitments under the agreement. Russia and China have opposed the sanctions.
Moscow’s UN envoy has stated that Russia does not recognize the snapback procedure as legal.
The news agency reported that the Generation III plants will be built on a 500-hectare site in the Sirik region of southeastern Hormozgan province and are expected to produce 5,000 megawatts of electricity.
The deal was struck between Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev and Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization head Mohammad Eslami, with officials saying it shows the two countries’ commitment to “peaceful nuclear cooperation.”
Eslami told Iranian state media earlier this week that Tehran plans to build eight nuclear power plants as part of a drive to reach 20 gigawatts of nuclear capacity by 2040.
Iran, which suffers periodic power shortages during peak demand, currently operates a single nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr. Also built by Russia, the facility has a capacity of 1 gigawatt.
Moscow has close relations with Tehran and condemned the US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June.
Israel claimed that Iran was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, but Tehran said it never had such intention.
Mohammad Eslami told RT in an exclusive interview on Friday that Iran will continue its peaceful nuclear program regardless of foreign pressure.

Zelensky says Russia attacked Poland with 92 drones, 19 reaching border
27.09.2025 17:39
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that on the night of September 10, Russia attacked Poland with 92 drones, but only 19 drones managed to cross the Polish border, while the rest were shot down.
The head of state informed journalists about this during a briefing, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"92 drones flew to Poland. We shot them all down. 19 reached their destination. Yes, we shot them down on Ukrainian territory, of course.
You could say that they were flying towards us, but we can see the direction and, as they say, the choreography of this flight. Therefore, we believe that 92 were flying.
We shot them all down. We believe that 19 reached their destination. Four were shot down by the Poles.
I am not comparing our forces. We are at war, they are not," Zelensky said, responding to a question from a Ukrinform correspondent.

IDF controls over half of Gaza City as 800,000 residents flee the area - Southern Command
SEPTEMBER 27, 2025 15:16
As more than 800,000 of one million residents of the city have evacuated, the IDF has gained operational control of more than half of Gaza City as of Saturday, according to sources in the IDF Southern Command.
Sources in the Southern Command told Walla that the IDF’s territorial gains resulted from coordinated maneuvers at multiple points by various divisions as part of Operation Gideon’s Chariots II.
In recent days, the IDF has expanded the scope of strikes across Gaza City, targeting more than 140 sites each night. The sources further stated that the IDF now controls several neighborhoods within the city.
Gaza City neighborhoods under IDF control
The IDF now controls several neighborhoods across Gaza City. In the southwest, in Tel al-Hawa, the IDF has operated in this neighborhood from the air and ground multiple times during the war.
Despite military efforts, Hamas has rebuilt its terror infrastructure there. Nearby, Al-Nadi, an area composed of low-rise buildings, also served as a hideout for terrorists over the years.
Also in Sheikh Ajleen, a neighborhood near the coast in the southwest of the city, the IDF has conducted massive air and ground strikes in recent months against terror pockets.
In the southeast of Gaza City, Zeitoun was a central combat zone at the start of the war and during Operation Gideon’s Chariots I.
In eastern Gaza City, Shuja’iya, one of the city’s most violent terror hubs, was the launch point for multiple waves of terrorists responsible for the October 7 massacre, and has been the site of intense fighting.
Lastly, in northeastern Gaza City, Tuffah has been a focus of long-term operations aimed at locating and destroying terror infrastructure.
Gaza City neighborhoods not yet under IDF control
Among the Gaza City neighborhoods not yet under IDF control is Al-Rimal. It has been home to Gaza’s elite and senior Hamas figures.
The area is considered the city’s “heart,” hosting decades of banking infrastructure, Palestinian government institutions, universities, and media sites.
Additionally, the Old City, a historic center in the heart of Gaza City, is reportedly used as a hideout for terrorists. The IDF also has yet to gain control of the Al-Shati refugee camp and the Sabra neighborhood.
In some areas that cannot be detailed, the IDF is imposing a siege, understanding that armed fighters are present.
Additionally, the fact that the vast majority of Palestinians have fled Gaza City will make it easier for the IDF to take the city through airstrikes and ground maneuvers.

New drone sightings over Denmark's biggest military base
Updated: 27 Sep 2025 11:26PM
COPENHAGEN: Unidentified drones flew over Danish military sites, including its biggest base, overnight following a slew of earlier sightings that Copenhagen has termed a "hybrid attack", hinting at possible Russian involvement.
Neighbouring Norway was also investigating "possible sightings of drones" on early Saturday (Sep 27) near its biggest military base, Orland, where its F-35 fighter jets are parked.
Mysterious drone sightings across Denmark and Norway since Monday have prompted the closure of several airports.
Copenhagen will host a European Union summit gathering heads of government on Wednesday and Thursday.
Denmark has accepted a Swedish offer of Stockholm's anti-drone technology to ensure the meeting can proceed without disruption.
In Denmark, drones were confirmed at "several military sites", a military spokesman told AFP on Saturday, refusing to provide other details.
Danish police said "one to two drones" were observed on Friday around 8.15pm near and over the Karup military base, the country's biggest base, which houses all of the armed forces' helicopters, airspace surveillance, flight school and support functions.
Karup is also home to parts of the defence command.
Police spokesman Simon Skelkjaer said he could not comment on where the drones came from, adding: "We didn't take them down". Police were cooperating with the military in their investigation, he said.
The Karup base shares its runways with the Midtjylland civilian airport, which was briefly closed, though no flights were affected as none were scheduled at that hour, Skelkjaer said.
In Norway, the military was collaborating with the police to determine if it was indeed drones that were observed.
"The sightings are probably drones, but the investigation will find out what it was. As of now, we're handling it as a drone sighting," a spokesman for Norway's joint headquarters, Brynjar Stordal, told AFP.
"At least two drones" flew in a restricted area near the base "for around an hour" before they disappeared, he said. "They were not engaged by us."
Mysterious drone observations across Denmark and Norway since Monday have prompted the closure of several airports.
Police in Norway's northern Nordland county said they were temporarily extending air and land restrictions for drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles to 10km around four airports serving a mix of regional, international and military flights, until Monday at midday.
In a statement, police said the move was "a precautionary measure" and said no drones had been observed in the region on Saturday.
Drone sightings in Nordic countries earlier in the week, following drone incursions in Polish and Romanian territory and the violation of Estonian airspace by Russian fighter jets, which raised tensions in light of Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
RUSSIA TO BLAME?
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Thursday that "over recent days, Denmark has been the victim of hybrid attacks", referring to unconventional warfare.
Investigators have so far failed to identify those responsible, but Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said on Thursday the flights appeared to be "the work of a professional actor".
Frederiksen has pointed the finger at Russia. "There is one main country that poses a threat to Europe's security, and it is Russia."
Moscow said Thursday it "firmly rejects" any suggestion that it was involved in the Danish incidents. Its embassy in Copenhagen called them "a staged provocation", in a post on social media.
Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said earlier this week the aim of the attacks was "to spread fear, create division and frighten us".
The drone flights began just days after Denmark announced it would acquire long-range precision weapons for the first time, as Russia would pose a threat "for years to come".
Hummelgaard said Copenhagen would also acquire new enhanced capabilities to detect and neutralise drones.
Defence ministers from around 10 EU countries agreed on Friday to make a so-called "drone wall" a priority for the bloc.
EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius said Europe needs to learn from Ukraine and swiftly build anti-drone defences.

Unidentified drones reportedly spotted in Denmark, Lithuania, Finland
September 27, 2025 5:25 pm
Unidentified drones have been detected in the airspace of Denmark, Lithuania, and Finland, several media outlets reported on Sept. 27.
The incidents come as Russian drones and military aircraft have increasingly entered NATO airspace, prompting heightened alert and readiness across the alliance. Recent violations have been reported in Estonia, Poland, and Romania.
In Denmark, drones were spotted near several military facilities, including Karup Air Base, one of the country's key air force facilities, Danish DR reported on Sept. 27.
The Danish Defense Command does not disclose where the incidents took place and how many drones are considered suspicious. Several units of the Danish Armed Forces were deployed to respond to the incidents.
In Lithuania, three drones were spotted flying near Vilnius airport, causing delays to seven commercial flights, Lithuanian broadcaster LRT reported on Sept. 27.
In Finland, last weekend, a drone flew over the Valajasoski power plant in Rovaniemi, Yle reported on Sept. 27. Law enforcement bodies in the region confirmed this information to Yle, but did not disclose any details due to ongoing investigations.
Previously, in Denmark, the airspace above Aalborg Airport in northern Jutland was closed overnight on Sept. 26 after police also reported an unidentified drone, Danish broadcaster TV2 said.
The closure lasted about an hour, with several flights canceled and two inbound planes diverted.
This marked the third disruption at Aalborg Airport in less than a week. On Sept. 24, operations were suspended after drones were detected near a military base, prompting Copenhagen to consider invoking NATO's Article 4.
Earlier, on Sept. 22, Copenhagen Airport, the busiest hub in northern Europe, also halted operations due to drone sightings. Norwegian authorities temporarily closed Oslo Airport under similar circumstances.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said the origin of the drones remains unclear and that there is no evidence directly linking them to Russia.
The drone flights coincide with a notable rise in Russian violations of allied airspace.
Three Russian MiG-31 jets entered Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland on Sept. 19, prompting Tallinn to request NATO consultations under Article 4.
Poland shot down Russian drones during a mass strike on Ukraine on Sept. 10, marking the first time NATO engaged Russian assets over its territory since the full-scale invasion.
Romania reported a similar violation on Sept. 13, scrambling F-16s after detecting a Russian drone. The alliance has reinforced defenses through its Eastern Sentry mission amid growing provocations.

Germany To Allow Military Shoot Down Drones
Updated September 27, 2025
Germany wants to authorise its military to shoot down drones, the interior minister said Saturday, after a “swarm” of them was spotted over the north of the country.
It comes after a string of drone sightings near airports and military sites in Denmark and Norway in recent days.
Suspicion has fallen on Russia, even if no definite proof has been made public. Moscow has rejected suggestions that it was behind the Danish incidents.
In the German incident, the drone “swarm” was spotted Friday over the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein, which borders Denmark, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told a press conference.
While drone sightings have been growing in Germany since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, such swarms had not occurred before, he said.
He did not give further details about what sites the drones were overflying, or who was responsible, but Berlin has long accused Russia of carrying out espionage and surveillance operations.
“We are seeing a constant hybrid threat,” Dobrindt said.
Dobrindt had already announced earlier this week plans to strengthen the country’s drone defences, part of broader push to build up the armed forces following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
On Saturday he confirmed that he wants to revise air safety laws to allow the “shooting down of drones” by the armed forces.
“What we are witnessing is an arms race — an arms race between drone threats and drone defence. We must prepare ourselves for this,” he said.
Currently police have the main responsibility for defending against drones and changes were needed, he said.
Tabloid Bild reported that dowing drones by the military would only be permitted in certain circumstances, such as if they pose a serious danger to human life or critical infrastructure.
Germany, one of Ukraine’s key backers in its fight against Russia, had so far been reluctant to shoot down drones for fear that debris could cause casualties.
The GdP police union voiced opposition to Dobrindt’s plan, telling the Rheinische Post newspaper that domestic security was the responsibility of the police, not the military.
Drone warfare has been a core feature of the Ukraine conflict and NATO countries bordering Russia hope to build a “drone defence wall” — a network of technological and military solutions to counter these aerial threats.

Are aliens involved in Amelia Earhart's mysterious disappearance? Trump orders declassification of secret files
Updated 27 Sep 2025, 06:59 AM IST
US President Donald Trump said that he has directed the declassification and public release of all government records related to aviator Amelia Earhart, highlighting that her 1937 disappearance during her attempt to fly around the world has “captivated millions.”
Trump described her fate as an “interesting story” and noted that many people have requested him to make all government files on her available to the public.
After returning to the office earlier this year, Trump pledged to declassify and release records concerning several prominent individuals, although Earhart’s name was not initially included in that list.
The Republican president's administration has since released thousands of pages of records about President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
All were assassinated during the 1960s, and the files revealed no blockbuster information. Both the FBI and the National Archives and Records Administration have already released batches of documents about Earhart.
Some who have doggedly researched her disappearance nearly 90 years ago doubt there is much more the government has on her that it can release.
Who was Amelia Earhart?
Earhart was an aviator and the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She vanished in the South Pacific during her attempt to become the first woman to fly around the world.
“Amelia made it almost three-quarters around the World before she suddenly, and without notice, vanished, never to be seen again,” Trump wrote on his social media site.
“Her disappearance, almost 90 years ago, has captivated millions. I am ordering my Administration to declassify and release all Government Records related to Amelia Earhart, her final trip, and everything else about her.”
When did they disappear?
Amelia Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared while flying from New Guinea to Howland Island during her attempt to become the first female pilot to circumnavigate the globe. She had radioed that she was running low on fuel before vanishing.
The Navy conducted a search but found no trace. The US government's official position has been that Earhart and Noonan went down with their plane. She was declared legally dead in 1939.
“There's nothing still classified by the U.S. government on Amelia Earhart,” Gillespie said in a telephone interview.
Are aliens involved?
Since then, numerous theories have emerged, some more far-fetched than others, including alien abduction or Earhart living undercover in New Jersey, other speculations suggest she and Noonan were executed by the Japanese or died as castaways on a remote island.
If these records shed any light on Earhart's fate, it is a welcome action for Earhart historians and enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Mindi Love Pendergraft, executive director of the Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum, said in an email that Trump's action “is sure to pique the interest of those dedicated to uncovering the mystery of Earhart's disappearance.”

Investigating Humanity’s DNA Origins, Extraterrestrial Intervention and Secret Societies
Sep 25, 2025
Elisabeth Hancock has been researching humanity’s DNA origins since her awakening in 2013 after her mother’s passing.
She began receiving messages from her deceased mother which opened her up to a vast field of intuitive communications and past life memories.
In Elisabeth’s subsequent research she has learned about an ancient extraterrestrial invasion involving the Anunnaki and other off-world visitors that genetically altered the dominant human species at the time.
The question of humans being genetically engineered or dumbed down by extraterrestrials is explored, as well as the connection to secret societies that accepted the alien visitors as gods.
The summoning of negative extraterrestrials such as Reptilians by precisely invoking their names and this being the genesis of SRA ceremonies designed to enhance worldly power and influence is discussed.
Also discussed are the roles of negative and positive giants in human history, and the importance of not generalizing giants as all negative as is done in the Old Testament bible.
In addition, humanity’s relationship with Inner Earth civilizations is discussed along with the role of the Vatican in hiding all this in the 1500s.
Elisabeth emphasizes the importance of heart intelligence in making sense of the broad array of esoteric subjects involving humanity’s origins and extraterrestrial intervention.
Her 2024 book, Human Origins, The Multiverse and Our Star Ancestry, explains what humanity’s future will look like if we follow our heart intelligence.

Congressman Burlison on UAPs, government transparency, Joplin manufacturing
Sep 26, 2025
JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - Congressman Eric Burlison was in Joplin on Friday as part of a national manufacturing tour.
Burlison represents Missouri's 7th congressional district, including Jasper County.
Following a tour of some local companies, he met with students and community leaders for lunch at Missouri Southern State University.
Birlison chairs the House Subcommittee on economic growth, energy police and regulatory affairs. He says Joplin's manufacturing sector plays a vital role in U.S. security.
Joplin companies manufacture many things, including components for defense systems like Israel's Iron Dome.
While the media was invited to interview Burlison, KOAM's Blake Gulley took some extra time with the Congressman to discuss other initiatives he's a part of and leading, including efforts for government transparency.
They spoke about government agencies hiding funding, unknown technology and more, including UAPs.
