Kind of looks like his cross on his necklace comes up and punctures his neck and then the broken necklace whips around his head all the way over to his microphone hand and wraps around the mic cord and the cross moves towards the back of his left shoulder and then follows him to the ground. The necklace was completely off his body.

You see the necklace follows his microphone cord down, so I think it wrapped itself around the mic cord.
