Marcus Hale Identified as Shooter in Grand Blanc Church Attack
Marcus Hale, a 42-year-old Grand Blanc resident and former Army veteran, has been officially identified as the gunman in the deadly LDS church shooting in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The attack, which occurred around 10:45 a.m. ET on September 28, 2025, left two people dead and six injured, including children. Authorities say Hale drove a vehicle into the church, opened fire with an assault-style rifle, and then ignited a flammable accelerant, causing a massive blaze inside the building.
Hale was neutralized on-site by an off-duty police officer who had been attending the service. Officials have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Joseph Naso, the "Alphabet Killer," may have been paying twisted homage to a death row inmate.
The assertion was made by retired FBI task force investigator Ken Mains, who is attempting to solve cold cases that may be linked to the 91-year-old.
Naso’s crimes are explored in the new Oxygen true-crime docuseries, "Death Row Confidential: Secrets of a Serial Killer."
Naso is a former photographer convicted in 2013 of killing four women.
"I was able to get into his brain [during my investigation] and understand that he had an idol, a role model, just like we all do," Mains told Fox News Digital. "His happened to be … Caryl Chessman. And Caryl Chessman was executed in San Quentin State Prison in 1960. … He invited Joe Naso, who was a pen pal of Caryl Chessman’s, to his execution.
"I believe he was killing these double initials as a homage to Caryl Chessman."
Naso gained his grim nickname after being found guilty of murdering four women whose first and last names began with the same letter. The victims included Roxene Roggasch, 18; Carmen Colon, 22; Pamela Parsons, 38; and Tracy Tafoya, 31. Their deaths occurred between 1977 and 1994.

Allegedly conducted on the east end of Long Island during the Cold War, Project Montauk was a secret military experiment that used abducted children to develop psychological warfare techniques.

And with the popularity of Stranger Things firmly established, perhaps the Montauk Project’s time in the spotlight might finally be just around the corner.
Military facilities have existed at Montauk since 1796, when the Montauk Lighthouse became operational and its personnel began looking out for British ships that might attack New York or Boston. The Naval Air Station was established more than a century later, during World War I, and the Army’s Fort Hero was subsequently established during World War II.
But for nearly two centuries, the various military facilities at Montauk didn’t inspire any conspiracy theories, at least not ones that received any widespread attention. But then, one book changed everything.
The Alleged Government Experiments Involved
These alleged experiments took place at Montauk Air Force Station on the eastern tip of Long Island in the town of Montauk, which has long been home to various military facilities. In 1917, a Naval Air Station was established there, and during World War II, the U.S. Army commissioned Camp Hero. As the Cold War ramped up, the base was used for radar surveillance, and it was renamed the Montauk Air Force Station.
It was ultimately decommissioned in 1981, and today, the site is Camp Hero State Park.

The deranged madman who killed at least two people and injured nine others at a Michigan Latter-day Saints church, torching the building and opening fire on fleeing congregants and their families, has been identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, The Post can confirm.
Sanford, a US Marine veteran, according to his mom’s Facebook page, rammed his Chevy Silverado truck into the building before unleashing the assault on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, armed with a semi-automatic rifle.
An old Facebook post by Sanford’s mother says the gunman — who died at the scene in a shootout with cops — who served in Iraq from 2004-2008.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that Sanford, from nearby Burton, Michigan, is the line suspect.
The source of the blaze was not immediately known, but sources told The Post authorities found several improvised explosive devices on church property which a bomb squad was investigating.
Cops said there were hundreds of worshippers inside when the attack began, and that an unknown number of victims could be found inside once the building is safe to enter after a massive blaze consumed nearly the entire building, aerial footage showing an enormous plume of choking black smoke rising up from the structure.
Social media accounts believed to be connected to Sanford show he’s a family man, with a wife and young son.
A dormant GoFundMe page from 2015 raised more than $3,000 for the couple’s now-10-year-old son who was born with congenital hyperinsulinism, or CHI, a rare, genetic condition where the pancreas releases too much insulin.
Pictures from the Sanfords’ Facebook page show the family smiling, posing in the beds of pickup trucks or in a field of tall sunflowers.
