The drone over watch of the train "accident" comment got me thinking. I believe white hats / operators were monitoring the feed from the ground from a laptop OSRVT system or variant. The system was designed so that soldiers on the ground could use and even take over drone IR systems to scout their AO before a mission. The block 3 upgrades allowed for UH-60, AH-64, ect.. to do the same and fire weapons if the drones were armed. What really sticks out now is a conversation had with several CW3 SOAR pilots over dinner: they mentioned a system being tested that would allow for remote piloting of sensitive helicopters should the pilots be killed or unable to fly. This was several years back but I cant help but wonder if recent helicopter crashes are a result of this tech being used by the good guys. God bless each of you.
