Congress is diving headfirst into the murky waters of Havana Syndrome with criminal referrals that could shake up the intelligence community. The GOP-led House Intelligence Committee has dropped a bombshell by sending these referrals to the Trump Justice Department, accusing federal agencies of mishandling investigations into Anomalous Health Incidents (AHIs) affecting U.S. personnel abroad, as Just the News reports. This isn’t just a bureaucratic spat; it’s a full-on clash over national security and accountability.

The crux of the story is a House probe alleging potential illegal actions by the U.S. intelligence community and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in their response to mysterious health incidents, dubbed Havana Syndrome, which have plagued American diplomats and officers with symptoms like vertigo, headaches, and ear pain.

Let’s rewind to early reports of AHIs, where U.S. personnel stationed overseas started experiencing bizarre symptoms – think sound or pressure in one ear, loss of balance, and searing headaches. A 2020 National Academies of Sciences report found that 40 diplomats in Havana and a dozen in China showed signs consistent with directed, pulsed radiofrequency energy. That’s not just a headache; that’s a high-tech mystery begging for answers.
