To clarify: Hegseth didn’t explicitly say anything about religion (I will review), but he said all military must be “clean shaven”, which is a diplomatically worded way to say “no more religious exemptions” for religion-based beards.
NO BEARDS is the way to level the appearance playing field so you won’t have to make exemptions for people’s religions.
I didn’t hear it explicitly (again, I’ll rewatch), but I didn’t hear anything about religious headgear like Muslim caps (taqiyah/kufi), Jewish caps (kippah/yarmulke), or Sikh turbans (dastaar/pagri). Those should’ve never been allowed in the first place…although maybe only chaplains are allowed…?
