White people charged TWICE as much by woke Canadian gym as 'BIPOC' members

https://thepostmillennial.com/white-people-charged-twice-as-much-by-woke-canadian-gym-as-bipoc-members

Despite some left-wing thought pieces as of late declaring lifting and fitness a "right-wing" phenomenon, a gym in Canada is apparently looking to buck that trend, charging white gymgoers more than those of color.

R studios, a "yoga and Pilates studio" that the owner has billed as a place that was "created for the misfits, the non-conformists, [and] the everyday person," announced that it would be charging CA$30 for a studio drop in, but that those who are "BIPOC" (black, indigenous, and people of color), would be able to drop in for a class for CA$15.

The discrimination was reported by Jeff Evely, a retired Canadian veteran who posted the charge rates on X. He wrote, "R studios in Nova Scotia charges double for white people, in violation of Sections 5(1) of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act. The Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission disgracefully made our human rights a fraud during COVID."

"CEO Joseph Fraser even made up his own extrajudicial provisions in order to avoid doing his job, in response to the complaints I personally submitted. (I'll be in the NS Court of Appeals on Wednesday, seeking remedy.) Don’t let the NSHRC, Joseph Fraser, continue to defraud tax-payers of his big, fat salary, like every other senior bureaucrat in Nova Scotia. Like the rest of them, he’s not going to grow a spine anytime soon. Build a bandwagon for him to climb onto. Pressure works on cowards, like Joey. Get into Joey's system, and beat this coward at his own game," Evely added.

The discriminatory policy came to light over the weekend with Evely's post and heavy backlash against the gym ensued. In a Reddit thread on the topic, one user said of the fitness location, "I went there with one of my colleagues once and I was the only black person there lol. Side note to such places that offer these types of discounts: you're condescending and dumb. Treat me equally by charging me the same price as everyone else. Offering me a pity discount doesn't solve whatever internal issues your owners are going through. I would never go there knowing I paid less than anyone else. Buy your token representation some other way."

One user on X responded to the situation, "Imagine if that was reversed, the uproar would … shake the ground."

After the backlash, it was reported that the location took down the discount. The gym quietly removed the reference to the race-based pricing as well as locked the comments sections on their social media posts.

Three individuals have been arrested and are facing charges in connection with a March shooting in Surrey, B.C., which police say could be related to an extortion investigation.

A residence in the 13300 block of 89A Avenue in Surrey was damaged by several gunshots around 1:55 a.m. on March 27, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) said in an Oct. 6 news release. No one was injured as a result of the shooting, police noted.

Police say the victim contacted SPS later that day and the SPS Serious Crime Unit conducted an investigation in collaboration with its Frontline Investigative Support Team. During the investigation, police determined the incident was related to an ongoing extortion investigation, the release says.

Police also identified three suspects during the investigation and carried out numerous search warrants, SPS says.

Police say Mandeep Gidda, 23, Nirmaandeep Cheema, 20, and Arundeep Singh, 26, were arrested on Oct. 3 and have been charged with one count each of recklessly discharging a firearm.

“These three arrests and charges are a positive step forward as Surrey Police Service continues to aggressively tackle the issue of extortions in collaboration with Provincial Extortions Task Force and other policing partners across the country,” SPS Chief Constable Norm Lipinski said in an Oct. 6 statement. Trump Says Companies Leaving Canada for US, Expects Carney to Bring Up Tariffs During Visit

U.S. President Donald Trump says he expects his Canadian counterpart to bring up tariffs as Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to visit the White House on Oct. 7.

Trump made the comments the day ahead of the meeting, saying that an increasing number of Canadian companies are relocating to the United States thanks to his tariffs tactic.

“I guess he’s going to ask about tariffs, because a lot of companies from Canada are moving into the United States,” Trump said in comments to the press on Oct. 6 at the White House. “They’re losing a lot of companies in Canada.”

The first official visit between the two leaders took place in early May at the White House, with the two leaders also meeting this past June in Alberta at the G7 summit.

Carney is expected to be accompanied on Tuesday’s trip by minister responsible for Canada-U.S. trade Dominic LeBlanc, who said Oct. 2 that while he believes trade issues between the United States and Canada are “resolvable,” challenges are likely to “remain for some time.” Also accompanying the prime minister on this trip will be Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and Industry Minister Mélanie Joly.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has said the two leaders will focus on the economic and security relationship between the two countries during the meeting. Continue…

BC Premier Suggests Alberta’s Proposed Pipeline Project a Trump-Style Tactic for Political Gain

B.C. Premier David Eby is doubling down on his opposition to a pipeline proposal being prepared by Alberta, saying it’s a “fictional” project that is trying to use “wedge politics” and what he calls a Donald Trump style of politics for leverage.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said on Oct. 1 that her province will put $14 million toward developing a proposal for a crude oil pipeline to the B.C. coast and submit the plan to the federal Major Projects Office (MPO) by next May.

The MPO, created under the Carney government’s One Canadian Economy bill, pledges to fast-track approval for projects hand-selected by Ottawa if deemed in the national interest.

Smith said approval of the pipeline will be a test for Canada and an alternative way for Alberta to build a pipeline since Ottawa won’t remove legislation such as the B.C. north coast oil tanker ban that she says stand in the way of the oil and gas industry and private investment. Eby opposes repealing the ban, which was brought in by the Trudeau Liberals. Continue…

The trial of a former Hydro-Québec employee accused of economic espionage for Beijing has been postponed by a day after the utility requested certain corporate information be kept confidential.

The trial for Yuesheng Wang, 38, a former Hydro-Québec employee, was scheduled to begin on Oct. 6, but Quebec Court Judge Jean-Philippe Marcoux postponed the proceedings to Oct. 7 after the utility’s lawyer raised concerns that evidence presented in open court could reveal sensitive business and client information.

Wang in 2022 became the first person charged with economic espionage under Canada’s Security of Information Act. He also faces charges of fraudulent use of a computer, fraudulently obtaining a trade secret, and breach of trust, as well as two additional counts laid last year related to committing preparatory acts on behalf of a foreign entity—the Beijing regime. Ford Vows to Pull Crown Royal From LCBO if Diageo Shutters Ontario Plant

https://www.theepochtimes.com/world/ford-vows-to-pull-crown-royal-from-lcbo-if-diageo-shutters-ontario-plant-5925829?ea_src=ca-frontpage&ea_med=ford-vows-to-pull-crown-royal-from-lcbo-if-diageo-shutters-ontario-plant-0

Premier Doug Ford says he will ban Crown Royal whiskey from Ontario-run liquor stores if British alcoholic beverage company Diageo proceeds with its plan to close its bottling plant in the southwestern part of the province.

Ford has been critical of Diageo since the company announced plans in late August to shutter its nearly 100-year-old bottling plant in Amherstburg next February in a bid to “increase efficiency.” The decision will impact the 170 employees who work at the facility and will also have repercussions for the local economy.

Ford made the comments at an unrelated Oct. 6 press conference in Quebec City, saying Diageo’s decision to close the plant is shortsighted. He described the LCBO as the “largest purchaser of alcohol in the entire world,” noting that the Ontario-run liquor store buys $765 million more than any jurisdiction anywhere in the United States or Canada.

“They want to close down a plant over what, $8 million of wages? They think they’re going to save?” Ford asked, before vowing to pull Crown Royal and Smirnoff Vodka off LCBO store shelves “as soon as the last person leaves that plant.”

Diageo is the owner of Crown Royal, Smirnoff, and several other well-known liquor brands, including Guinness, Baileys, and Captain Morgan. The Epoch Times contacted the company for comment about the potential boycott of its products in Ontario but did not receive a response before publication. Continue…

Canada’s Trade Deficit Reaches $6.32B in August as Exports Decline: StatCan

https://www.theepochtimes.com/world/canadas-trade-deficit-reaches-6-32b-in-august-as-exports-decline-statcan-5925896?ea_src=ca-frontpage&ea_med=medium-3

Canada’s merchandise trade deficit grew to $6.32 billion in August from $3.8 billion in July as exports fell faster than the increase in imports, new data from Statistics Canada says.

International exports declined by 3 percent in August, representing the first drop since April, with exports to the United States and other major trading partners decreasing in August, StatCan said in an Oct. 7 release.

Metal and non-metallic mineral product exports, such as unwrought gold, silver, platinum group metals, and their alloys, decreased the most in August, with a drop of 7.6 percent, which represents the third month in a row these exports have declined.

“The August decline was almost entirely due to a drop in exports of unwrought gold to the United States,” StatCan said.

Canada’s international trade numbers took a hit earlier this year as U.S. President Donald Trump imposed sectoral tariffs, leading some businesses to shift their supply chain away from the country’s biggest trading partner.

Exports to the United States fell by 3.4 percent in August compared to the previous month, with $1.537 billion fewer exports in August than July. Continue…

Liberal MP claims church fires are ‘conspiracy theories’ despite police-reported arsons

https://www.rebelnews.com/liberal_mp_claims_church_fires_are_conspiracy_theories_despite_police_reported_arsons

Liberal MP John-Paul Danko dismissed “alternative news” reports of church arsons as “alt-right” propaganda.

A Liberal MP is under fire for dismissing church arsons, some near his Hamilton riding, as “conspiracy theories,” as first reported by Juno News.

During House of Commons debate on hate-crime legislation, Liberal MP John-Paul Danko accused Conservatives of “repeating conspiracy theories” instead of addressing “real hate crimes.”

“If we want to talk about real hate crimes — I'm talking about Jewish members … covering their identity in public — that's the hate … this bill seeks to address.”

Conservative MP Andrew Lawton accused the MP, and more broadly the Liberal Party, of downplaying anti-Christian violence, sparking a social media debate. Danko responded by accusing Conservatives of dividing Canadians.

The Liberal MP for Hamilton West earlier dismissed “alternative news” reports of church arsons as “alt-right” propaganda, despite a recorded 123 instances of arson or vandalism since 2021.

This year, at least five churches have been set ablaze, including vacant churches in Winnipeg and Newfoundland, a Catholic church in rural Saskatchewan, and a joint Anglican-Lutheran church in Manitoba. Continue…

Detransitioners face neglect, inadequate support from medical industry, friends: study

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/detransitioners-face-neglect-inadequate-support-from-medical-industry-friends-study/

A York University-led study reveals that there are no formal healthcare guidelines to address detransitioners' needs.

New research discovered that individuals who regret gender-transitioning surgeries are often neglected and face “detransphobia.”

According to a study by a York University-led research team published in the International Journal of Transgender Health, detransitioners received inadequate support from both the medical and LGBT community after regretting their gender reassignment interventions.

“I feel so alienated now, and super isolated from the rest of the queer community,” one study participant reported.

“I lost every adult and friend in my life when I chose to detransition,” another added.

“I lost everything I had socially,” still another reported.

One detransition revealed that “I was turned down by four surgeons and ghosted by the one who did the mastectomy.”

Conducted as a cross-sectional survey from December 2023 to April 2024, the study recruited 957 participants (age 16+) in the U.S. and Canada who self-identified with detransition experiences.

Recruitment involved ads on eight social media platforms, emails to about 1,200 prior research participants, and outreach to over 615 LGBT organizations and “gender-affirming” care providers. Additionally, the research was conducted by a team primarily composed of LGBT researchers.

The report found that many detransitioners experience physical distress after undergoing gender-transitioning surgeries.

At the same time, no formal healthcare guidelines exist to address their medical and psychological needs. Additionally, detrans individuals may face social isolation and stigma from LGBTQ communities. Continue…
