On September 29, Health Canada announced over $13 million in funding for pro-abortion groups under the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund, which mainly goes to abortions and radical LGBT groups.
“The Access for All Program provides support for under-served populations to access abortion care through emergency funds for travel and logistical support,” reads a press release announcing $2.8 million in funding to Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights.
Similarly, the University of British Columbia’s Contraception & Abortion Research Team received $4.3 million to “address the abortion information, access and appropriate care needs of key groups, including people who are Indigenous, racialized, migrants, homeless, 2SLGBTQI+, youth and those with disabilities and/or complex health concerns.”

“The national framework must include measures to address the training, education and guidance needs of health care and other professionals regarding the prevention and diagnosis of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and support measures for those who are impacted by it,” the legislation read.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a group of lifelong conditions caused by exposure to alcohol during pregnancy. It affects brain and body development, leading to a range of physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges. Symptoms can include developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, memory issues, impulsivity, and physical abnormalities like facial deformities or growth deficits.

The Business Council of Canada (BCC) has warned in an open letter to the federal government that the next budget must tackle the issues of declining investment and growing deficits.
The BCC said in its Oct. 1 letter that the country needs more public and private investment to increase productivity and boost growth, as it is currently “in the midst of an investment crisis.” The letter, written by President and CEO Goldy Hyder, also raises concerns with Canada’s current fiscal situation, as the upcoming budget is expected to present a large deficit.
“We cannot borrow our way to prosperity. If your government decides that deficit-financed investment does need to take place, it must be done responsibly,” the letter states, adding that the government must provide a plan to reduce the deficit year after year.
The letter said the BCC had just completed consultations with Canadian economists and policy experts, as well as conducted a survey of members, and investments and deficits were the top issues raised. Quebec’s provincial police service says a daylight shooting at a Laval Starbucks, north of Montreal, could have connections to organized crime.
Lieutenant Gregory Gomez del Prado told The Epoch Times that police were called out to the area, off Highway 400, around 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 1 for reports of gunshots.
He said officers found three individuals who had been injured at the scene and who were taken to hospital. One of the victims, a man in his 40s, has since died, Gomez del Prado said. The other two victims have non-life threatening injuries.
He also said the shooting was targeted at the three individuals.
Provincial police have taken over the case from Laval police, due to its suspected connections to organized crime, he said. No suspects have been identified or arrested. Continue…

Canada’s weakening economy and the lifting of most of the retaliatory tariffs on the United States contributed to the Bank of Canada’s decision to cut its interest rate, according to a recently released notice.
The Bank of Canada released a summary of the governing council deliberations that led the organization to cut its rate to 2.5 percent on Sept. 17.
The document notes there were three developments that occurred over the summer that led the council to decide it was the right time to drop the rate, including a weakening economy and a softening of the labour market; signs that pressure on inflation may be easing; and the removal of most retaliatory tariffs, which means less risk to future inflation.
“In reviewing all these factors, Governing Council judged that the balance of risks had shifted in favour of cutting the policy rate,” the summary said. “The economy was weaker and, while there were still some mixed signals, inflationary pressures appeared more contained.”
The council noted that the economy contracted in the second quarter due to tariffs and trade uncertainty, adding that exports had declined by 27 percent, while business investment was negative.
“Businesses reported that they are in a wait-and-see mode, given the unpredictability of US trade policy,” the summary said. Continue…

An Ontario man has been sentenced to life in prison for the attempted murder of a 5-year-old child, in what the province’s Superior Court of Justice described as a “merciless” act of revenge against his former girlfriend seven years ago.
Dyon Smart, 35, who was found guilty in 2022 of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and breaching bail conditions, has been sentenced to life in prison for the violent attack on the son of his ex-partner on July 19, 2018, Justice James Stribopoulos said in a Sept. 24 court document detailing his reasons for judgement.
Following heated arguments with the child’s mother the night before, Smart lured the boy into a wooded area on the morning of July 19, near his ex-girlfriend’s townhouse where he was temporarily staying. In the isolated area, he “brutally” assaulted the child by repeatedly stomping on his face, head, and torso, and later attempted to asphyxiate him using a rope-like cloth, according to the court document.
He then left the boy’s “seemingly lifeless” body concealed in an area shrouded by trees and bushes. The child, identified only as D due to a publication ban, was 5 years old at the time and weighed less than 50 pounds.
“For the offence of attempted murder (count one), the court sentences Mr. Smart to life imprisonment,” Stribopoulos wrote.
“Mr. Smart’s behaviour associated with his attempt to murder D undoubtedly meets the brutality threshold,” he added. “Terms such as merciless, cruel, unfeeling, ruthless, vicious, and inhumane fairly describe Mr. Smart’s behaviour associated with his ghastly crime.” Continue…

A Saskatoon teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in supervised custody for the fatal shooting of his 12-year-old friend.
In her Oct. 1 decision, Judge Lisa Watson ruled that the youth, who was 13 at the time, accidentally shot his friend while posing with a sawed-off rifle and pretending to be a gangster, mistakenly believing the gun’s safety was on.
Watson sentenced the teenager, now 15, to one year in open custody in a supervised residence, six months under community supervision, and 18 months of probation.
“I do wish you the best. I know this is a difficult day for you and your family, difficult for [the victim’s] family and loved ones,” Watson said during the Oct. 1 sentencing. “I expect you to do something with your life. I expect you to move forward in a positive way and I very much hope not to ever see you back in this court building.”

A Saskatchewan judge has sentenced a former international student from India to 11 years in prison after he pled guilty to drug trafficking and possessing proceeds of crime charges.
Jatinderpal Singh, 27, was an international student at an Ontario university where he finished his first year, but said he couldn’t afford to continue his second year and turned to drug trafficking to pay off his debts, Saskatoon provincial court Judge Lisa Watson’s Sept. 4 written decision says.
Since Singh was no longer attending university, his visa expired, and he had to take out loans and borrow money from friends and family to get by, according to the agreed statement of facts presented before the court.
He was planning to return to India in 2024, but wanted to pay off his debts first and heard from a “friend of a friend” that he could make money by selling drugs.
He contacted a drug trafficking group on the Signal app in mid-late July 2024 and was sent to Saskatoon by the end of the month, where he was instructed to sell drugs such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, the agreed facts in the decision say.
Saskatoon police arrested Singh on Aug. 30, 2024, after surveilling him at the hotel he was staying at. He had been selling drugs in the area for approximately four weeks. Singh said he told the drug trafficking group he was being surveilled the day before he was arrested, but the group told him “he was probably imagining this and told him to keep selling,” the decision says.
Police seized from Singh more than two kilograms of fentanyl, more than five kilograms of methamphetamine, more than half a kilogram of cocaine, and $77,546 in cash. Continue…

Days before Christmas in 2022, Georgia Kerhoas was home playing cards with family when her son Chris showed up unexpectedly with news that would upend all their lives.
Her son Lee Herriot, a longtime correctional services officer and then 911 dispatcher for the Toronto Fire Service who had recently gone on medical leave, had taken his own life. His passing would eventually be recognized as an on-duty death.
Her son’s work as a first responder has since been recognized countless times, including at a memorial for fallen firefighters in June. His name is etched onto both the Canadian Firefighters Memorial in Ottawa and the Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Toronto.
But in January, the grieving mother and her family got more bad news.
The federal Memorial Grant Program for First Responders — which recognizes the “service and sacrifice” of first responders who died as a result of their duties — would not recognize Herriot.
As a 911 dispatcher, Herriot did not fit the program’s definition of a first responder and his family was ineligible for the $300,000 grant, Public Safety Canada wrote to the family in a one-page refusal letter.
Now Herriot’s family is pushing the federal government to change the memorial grant’s terms and conditions so that emergency dispatchers — widely recognized as first responders in Canada — can be eligible. Continue…

Such a deal would be a major boost for Intel’s relatively new manufacturing arm, which has struggled to attract big customers and has been one of the key reasons Wall Street has had trouble getting behind Intel as an investment.
Analysts say landing AMD would not only validate Intel’s technology but also “send a signal to other chip companies” that the firm can handle large-scale production. AMD, for its part, would be entrusting critical chipmaking to its direct competitor—an unusual move given both companies battle in the x86 PC and server markets.

Boeing is set to receive a contract worth up to $123 million to replace the massive 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs that the US dropped on Iranian nuclear facilities in June as part of the 12-day US-Israeli war against Iran, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
On June 22, US B-2 Spirit bombers dropped 14 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites, marking the first time the weapon was used in combat. A US submarine also fired Tomahawk missiles in strikes on an Iranian nuclear facility in Isfahan.
The attack, dubbed "Operation Midnight Hammer," was launched on behalf of Israel. The Bloomberg report said that a Pentagon budget document from August says that funds are being shifted from operations and maintenance accounts to Air Force munitions procurement as "funds are required to replace GBU-57 munitions expended in Operation Midnight Hammer in support of Israel."
Replacing the MOPs is just a fraction of the cost of the war against Iran, as the US used a significant number of interceptors to defend Israel throughout the 12 days.
US officials told The Wall Street Journal that the US fired more than 150 THAAD interceptors during the war, accounting for about one-quarter of the Pentagon’s total stock of the interceptors and costing about $2 billion.
The US military also engaged in its largest use of Patriot missiles to repel the Iranian attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which Iran launched in retaliation for the bombing of its nuclear sites.
Bloomberg previously reported that the Pentagon was planning to spend at least $3.5 billion replenishing weapons it had used defending Israel before the 12-Day War.
Most of the cost was related to the US defense of Israel when Iran launched an attack in April 2024 in retaliation for Israel bombing its consulate in Damascus.

A prominent Canadian doctor, who in the past was persecuted for speaking out against COVID mandates, said Canada is in a “spiritual war” in a fight against rampant abortion and euthanasia taking place across the nation.
While speaking to a crowd at We Unify’s 2025 Reclaiming Conference in Calgary, Alberta, on September 20, Dr. Charles Hoffe said there needs to be a “spiritual solution” to stop abortion and euthanasia.
“A spiritual war doesn’t have a political solution; it has a spiritual solution,” he told conference goers.
Hoffe urged everyone to fight back against the tyranny plaguing Canada, saying God is the answer.
“Ask for His mercy on this nation that has shaken its fists at God,” he said, adding, Canada has ‘killed its unborn’ to the tune of over 100,000 babies a year.”
Hoffe also called out Canada’s government-sanctioned assisted-suicide regime, or Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).

Canada’s Space Agency will soon be asking all of its employees to “self-declare” whether or not they are LGBT or black in what it says will allow it to drive “organizational success” so it can “promote” these individuals through “inclusivity.”
An agency report titled Employment Equity, Diversity And Inclusion Action Plan 2025-2028 noted that to “promote inclusivity through concrete action terms,” it has updated its “internal self-declaration forms to enable employees to self-declare as members of the two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual community and as Black employees for human resources-related opportunities.”
While the report is not legally mandated, the report, as noted by Blacklock’s Reporter, suggests the Canadian Space Agency seek out employees who are LGBT or black, so that it might potentially promote those people to more senior roles. Continue…

“On this ‘National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,’ let’s remember that no bodies were found, that the residential schools ‘genocide’ is a hoax, and that reconciliation requires an end to the bs, the victim mentality, the fake white guilt, and the grifting based on it,” he posted on X.
