Because Objective Truth (the only real truth) corresponds to reality and millions of people have been brainwashed into believing that truth is a relative concept not an absolute communication of facts. This allows contradictory propositions to be simultaneously "true" in their belief system, which doesn't correspond to reality. When people become detached from reality and believe that their opinions are truth, however much they contradic facts, they become delusional which exhibits as mental illness.
