UPDATED: September 30, 2025 at 3:44 PM PDT

"A suspect snatched a utility-task vehicle carrying working hawks from the lake area of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood during the Rams game on Sunday, Sept. 28, authorities said.

"The theft occurred at 2:22 p.m. when the suspect drove away in a maroon-colored, two-seater Kawasaki Mule UTV, which had the key left in the ignition, Inglewood police said.

“Affixed to the bed of the UTV were two (brown) Harris’s hawks housed in green containers,” police said. “These hawks are used during the games by a falconer in order to deter other birds in the area.”

"Witnesses saw the suspect drive the UTV off the SoFi Stadium property. The suspect was described only as a man wearing a black shirt and a jacket with a white stripe going down the shoulder, along with black pants and black shoes.

"Inglewood Mayor James Butts told ABC7 that the stolen UTV was found around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Avalon and Century boulevards in South Los Angeles. But the hawks were not with the vehicle."

"Inglewood police are … investigating the theft of two Harris's hawks taken Sunday from outside SoFi Stadium, where the birds were being used during an NFL game to deter nuisance wildlife.

"Authorities said the theft occurred around 2:20 p.m. when a man drove off in a maroon two-seat utility task vehicle (UTV) from the stadium's lake area. The UTV was carrying green containers that held the hawks, named Alice and Bubba.

"The vehicle and containers were recovered Tuesday morning "'near Avalon and Century boulevards, Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts said. The hawks, however, were missing, and two quails intended as their food were discovered dead, apparently stabbed with a sharp object.''' Police have opened an animal cruelty investigation.

"The suspect was last seen driving through the Century Village shopping area shortly after the theft. The UTV, described as similar to a golf cart, was part of the equipment used by falconer Charlie Cogger, who was contracted by SoFi officials to control birds during Sunday's Rams game."
