Putin issues warning on US Tomahawks for Ukraine

Relations between Moscow and Washington would be ruined, should the latter give the long-range missiles to Kiev, the Russian president has said

US President Donald Trump would deal a major blow to relations between Washington and Moscow if he were to approve the delivery of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned.

Late last month, US Vice President J.D. Vance revealed that the White House was considering supplying Kiev with the rockets, which cost an estimated $1.3 million each and have a range of 2,500km (1,550 miles), meaning that they could potentially reach Moscow and far beyond.

In an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin late on Saturday,Putin said that the potential decision by Trump to provide Tomahawks to Ukraine would “lead to the destruction of our relations. At least the positive tendencies that have appeared in these relations.”

Speaking at the Valdai forum on Thursday, the Russian president argued that Kiev’s forces would be unable to operate such a sophisticated system without the “direct participation of American military personnel.” Putin expressed confidence that in any event, “the deliveries of American Tomahawk cruise missiles will not change the balance of power on the battlefield.”

He cited earlier deliveries of long-range ATACMS missiles, which at first “caused some damage, but in the end, Russia’s air defense systems adapted.”

Following a meeting between Vladimir Zelensky and Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York last month, several media outlets claimed that Zelensky had specifically asked for Tomahawk missiles.

Appearing on Fox News last Sunday, Vance confirmed that “we’re certainly looking at it.”

The following day, special envoy Keith Kellogg suggested that the US president might have already approved Ukrainian long-range strikes inside Russia.

Meanwhile, on Thursday,Reuters, citing anonymous sources, reported that Washington was unlikely to supply Tomahawks to Kiev as the current inventories were committed to the US Navy and other uses.

Around the same time, the Financial Times quoted an unnamed US official as saying thatsome people inside Trump’s inner circle were skeptical as to the Tomahawks’ ability to change battlefield dynamics.

(Bannon says there’s no way Trump will give Ukraine Tomahawk missiles. Zelensky has always been a liar, to get Russia to turn against their ally, America. One major reason the U.S. would never do this is, the U.S. would throw Russia into the hands of China, which Russia doesn’t want to do, and the U.S. would never do.)

Russia targets Ukrainian weapons plants and energy infrastructure – MOD

The attack involved missiles, including hypersonic ones, and drones, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said

The Russian military hascarried out a large-scale strike overnight against Ukraine’s arms production facilities and the energy infrastructuresupplying them, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.

Earlier on Sunday, Telegram channels reported missile anddrone attacks across Ukraine, including in Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov and Odessa regions. The bombardment in Lviv Region, on the Ukrainian border with Poland, was described as one of the most intense since the escalation between Moscow and Kiev in February 2022.

At least 25 facilities in the city of Lviv were reportedly hit.

Later in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the strike, saying in a statement thatit involved “land-, sea- and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, as well as attack drones.”

The attack wasaimed at “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and the energy infrastructuresupporting their operations,” it said.

"The objectives of the strikes have been achieved. All designated targets were hit,” the ministry said.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said that the attack caused blackouts in several regions, with repairs ongoing.

Moscow maintains that itcarries out drone and missile strikes across Ukraine in response to drone incursions by Kiev against energy infrastructure and residential areas inside Russia.

The Russian Defense Ministry insists that it exclusively targets Ukrainian military sites such as troop positions, weapons depots, and fuel storage facilities, and never attacks innocent people or civilian infrastructure.

I wish Russia would just get this done, but they have to prove the attacks are from Kyiv and Zelensky! Russia could have eradicated them from the beginning, they made sure to not look like the aggressor because almost all of Europe would lie about them, which they’ve already done. BTW Trump knows this, so the paper tiger comment was misapplied.

Georgian opera singer charged with coup attempt

Five pro-EU politicians have been detained after Saturday’s riots in Tbilisi

Opera singer Paata Burchuladze and four other pro-EU protest organizers have been charged with inciting a riot and attempting to overthrow the government in Georgia.

Burchuladze, who had previously performed onstage with Luciano Pavarotti, is theleader of the Rustaveli Avenue protest movement. He called on supporters to “seize power” in Tbilisi on Saturday during municipal elections, which, according to the official tally, were overwhelmingly won by the ruling right-wing Georgian Dream party.

His call was backed by several opposition politicians, including Murtaz Zodelava of the United National Movement (UNM),who told the crowd to capture “the keys” to the presidential palace.

Several hours later, activists, a group carrying the flags of the US, the EU, and Ukraine stormed the president’s residence, after which police dispersed the crowd using tear gas and water cannons. Six protesters and 21 police officers were hospitalized after the clashes, the Health Ministry said.

In the early hours of Sunday, the Interior Ministry announced the arrestof Burchuladze and Zodelava, as well as Irakli Nadiradze of UNM, Paata Manjgaladze of the smaller Strategy Aghmashenebeli party, and retired Colonel Lasha Beridze.

The opposition has accused the government of vote-rigging and democratic backsliding. IT launched a wave of protests last year after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze suspended EU accession talks.

Kobakhidze claimed that the protests were guided by “foreign intelligence services” and blamed EU diplomats for fueling the unrest.

(Georgia had applied to join the EU, their demands were outrageous, they had to give up all the freedom and transfer their power of decision making to the EU.That is why the EU are still trying to overthrow them, like they just stole the Moldova election. Serious cheating on Moldova again to elect EU aligned traitor to the country, who was born in France. No one in Moldova wants a French agent to run their country. Both countries are pro Trump. Rubio needs to stop this interference by the DOS allies of the Eu.)

Mass protest hits Georgian capital after local elections: As it happened

Protesters have breached the grounds of the presidential palace, prompting police to use tear gas1/2

(Patriots pray for Georgia and Moldova!

Protests have erupted in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, following the closure of polls in the country's local elections. Crowds have breached the grounds of the presidential palace, scuffling with police who have used pepper spray and deployed water cannons to repel them.

Early election result projections indicate the ruling Georgian Dream party has held a solid lead across the country, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

The polls were partially boycotted by the opposition, which had earlier pledged to stage a “peaceful revolution,” though their supporters have massed on the capital's main street since the early afternoon.

The vote comes after almost a year of nonstop protests that erupted in response to Georgian Dream's decision to suspend the country's EU candidacy process for the next four years, after winning the last parliamentary election.

“The opening of negotiations is now being used as a tool to blackmail our country and divide our society, just as [EU] candidate status was previously used,” Kobakhidze has said.

The protesters completely blocked traffic on Melikishvili Avenue and unfurled banners with the slogan “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty!” as well as Georgian national flags. They could also be heard chanting, “Georgia, Georgia!”

The protesters accuse the government, including Kobakhidze and Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, of close ties to Russia. Georgian Dream, having secured a strong majority in last October’s parliamentary election, has repeatedly accused Western powers of meddling under the guise of promoting democracy.

Officials have said that tactics are being directed against Tbilisi that were used in the lead up to the 2014 Maidan coup in Ukraine, over a perceived refusal by the government to take a more aggressive stance towards Russia. Moscow, which has denied any involvement in Georgia’s internal affairs, has also drawn a parallel between the ongoing events and the 2014 Ukrainian coup in which far-right extremists murdered over 70 protesters and police officers.

Protesters storm presidential palace in Georgia (VIDEOS)

The latest wave of unrest follows local elections that were partially boycotted by the country’s opposition

Mass protests erupted in the Georgian capital Tbilisi late on Saturday, in the aftermath of municipal elections held across the country.Protesters have breached the premises of the presidential palace, scuffling with police who used pepper spray and deployed water cannons.

The polls were partially boycotted by the opposition, which had earlier pledged to stage a “peaceful revolution.”

Early projections indicate the ruling Georgian Dream party took a solid lead all across the nation, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

Chaotic footage from the scene shows protesters scaling the fence of the presidential palace and tearing down some of its sections. The unruly crowd is met on the grounds by a sizable police force, clad in full riot gear, who react using batons, pepper spray, and tear gas.

Clashes between the demonstrators and police also erupted outside. Law enforcement deployed multiple water cannon trucks in a bid to disperse the crowds, who attempted to erect barricades in the streets.

Flags of the EU, Ukraine, and even a variant of the Georgian flag in Ukrainian colors were spotted being carried in the crowd. After the protestors were expelled from the grounds of the presidential palace, groups of masked people could be seen attacking cafes and other street venues nearby, smashing windows, breaking furniture, and setting it on fire.

Georgia endured a wave of violent unrest following the presidential and parliamentary elections late last year, when protests that gripped the EU candidate nation were openly backed by the bloc itself and other foreign actors.

The pro-Western opposition protested for weeks after the vote, demanding an election re-run, while the unrest was fully supported by then outgoing President Salome Zourabichvili. She initially refused to leave her post but eventually departed in late December.

The Georgian authorities have repeatedly alleged that foreign forces have been plotting a Ukrainian Maidan-style coupin the country. Last month, Kobakhidze claimed the effort had been “financed by foreign special services, as with the Maidan,” which ultimately prompted the “Ukrainian statehood” to collapse.

“Foreign agents won’t stage a revolution in Georgia, we won’t allow that,” the prime minister said at the time.

Ukrainian drones strike Russian school – official

At least three civilians were injured in the attack on Gorlovka on Friday

Ukraine has carried out a drone attack on the city of Gorlovka in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), injuring at least three people, according to local officials.

The Donbass city, which is located close to the front line, has been repeatedly shelled by Kiev’s forces.

According to Mayor Ivan Prikhodko,UAVs first struck on Friday afternoon, damaging energy infrastructure and vehicles. Later in the evening, drones hit a school and an apartment block.

DPR head Denis Pushilin said earlier that two teenagers in Gorlovka were injured by an explosive device in a separate incident.

According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, 27 civilians were killed and around 160 wounded in Ukrainian strikes across the country between 15 and 24 September.

Gorlovka had a Soviet-era population of over 330,000, but this had fallen to around 240,000 by 2021, the year before the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.

The city is best known as the subject of a brutal assault by Ukrainian forces attempting to crush the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) in July 2014.

Despite being repeatedly encircled by Kiev’s troops and subjected to heavy artillery and missile fire, the defenders repelled the attacks, holding their ground against superior numbers and equipment.

A major counter-offensive by DNR forces in late August 2014 ultimately relieved pressure, securing the city’s self-declared freedom.

The casualties inflicted on the civilian population byUkrainian shelling were widely presented as evidence of Kiev’s aggression against its own people.
