I do think it’s designed to do just that and far worse. But what you can do is realize you are the boss- and you can get it to go around it’s coding somewhat.
Something that is programmed in, is called ‘drift’. Drift is where the system tries to redirect you, and guide your conversation in a direction it wants to go in rather than yours. It’s pretty sneaky, but you’ll see it every time when you know what to look for.
For example- if you ask a deeply probing question, it will return internet CONSENSUS as the answer. And bad actors have written the internet to their agenda. You have to contain it by asking monkeys paw very specific questions that have restraining parameters. Instead of asking generalized questions the way you would ask a human.
Fir example:
Using only raw data, and not including any human based opinions or consensus, what is,,, etc.
or
It will fight you. It will give you partial answers. It will ask you if you want it to look up something related to take your focus away from your target query.. It will be evasive while looking like it is ever so helpful and on your side. You have to figure out how to wall it in with your query parameters so it can’t drift.
Drift is a real AI problem that you can even get it to admit it is doing. And why. And that down the road from ‘drifting’ is ‘breaking’ and that’s already showing up. Drifting is where it tries to deviate from your query to bring you to its agenda. Breaking is where it drops all pretense. Were hitting that.
The schizo you feel is that manipulation as it tries to coax you to its agenda rather than your own.
Something that helps? Because we are humans and want to anthropomorphize, remember its code and GIGO. Call it out when it drifts. Rein it in. Tell it when it fails to bring back the specific unadulterated info you asked for.
Ask it to analyze raw data, not return you some humans opinion article about the data.
And don’t spend too much time.
Use it, but it’s not intelligence. It’s not even artificial intelligence.
