Map Shows 14 States Offering Health Coverage To Undocumented Migrants

Migrants Health Cover Map

Part of President Donald Trump's budget legislation, the "Big Beautiful Bill," will seek to punish the 14 states that currently offer health coverage to people in the U.S. regardless of immigration status, including undocumented migrants.

The 14 states, most of which are Democratic-led, would see the federal Medicaid matching rate for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) expansion in their states cut from 90 percent to 80 percent, ramping up how much they would have to pay to run their service.

Why It Matters

Immigrants without legal status typically do not qualify for federal benefits, however, more than a dozen states offer various forms of health coverage to undocumented migrants.

While advocates of such services argue these programs promote public health, reduce long-term costs, and align with moral obligations to care for vulnerable populations, critics contend that such efforts strain budgets and could incentivize illegal immigration.

What To Know

The 14 states that currently provide health coverage to undocumented migrants are California, New York, Illinois, Washington, New Jersey, Oregon, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont. Washington, D.C., does likewise.

California, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Maine, Colorado, and Oregon currently provide health insurance for adults, regardless of immigration status, while Illinois and New York provide coverage specifically to older adults, over 65. In New Jersey, children under 19 are covered.

In Connecticut, coverage is available for children under 15, but a February proposal sought to expand coverage to undocumented migrants aged under 26 and above 65.

In Utah, there is emergency care coverage available for undocumented migrants, and some health care coverage available for children.

Undocumented migrants that are pregnant or children in Rhode Island are also eligible for health coverage.

The change to the federal match for the ACA Medicaid population in these states would mean that each state has to cover the cost of Medicaid by a greater amount—in total, it would shift $92 billion in costs from the federal government to states.

California would be the most heavily impacted state, seeing an increase in spending of $30 billion, according to KFF, while Vermont would see the smallest change, an increase of $300 million in spending.

Some states, including Utah and Illinois, could see major Medicaid enrollment declines as both have "trigger" laws in place, meaning that the ACA Medicaid expansion would automatically end if the federal match rate drops.

KFF predicted that 78,000 people would lose coverage in Utah, while 840,000 would lose coverage in Illinois by the 2034 financial year.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker also recently proposed to cut the four-year-old program that provides health coverage for undocumented migrants as part of his 2025 fiscal plan.

California is also eyeing up similar legislation, as Governor Gavin Newsom announced earlier this month that he was going to help reduce a $12 billion deficit by freezing health coverage for immigrants living in the state without legal status.

If states decide to eliminate their state-funded coverage for immigrants to avoid the penalty, more than 1.9 million could lose their health coverage, according to KFF data.

What People Are Saying

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services head Dr. Mehmet Oz told Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures: "We do have to support Americans who are most vulnerable. That stated, we have to make the program sustainable. We have to protect it."

He added: "There's much we can do as a country. It's a shared responsibility. We have to do it together. But the buck stops here. We've got to clean up the system," Oz said. "We're not paying $200 million for housekeeping anymore a year. We're not going to pay for illegal immigrants in states that are submitting those claims. Why should people living in Mississippi, Texas, or Florida be paying for illegal immigrants getting healthcare in California?"

California State Senator Scott Wiener, said about the "Big, Beautiful Bill," according to KFF: "We need to stand our ground. California has made a decision that we want universal health care and that we are going to ensure that everyone has access to health care, and that we're not going to have millions of undocumented people getting their primary care in emergency rooms."

Utah State Representative Jim Dunnigan said about the "Big, Beautiful Bill," according to KFF: "We cannot afford, monetary-wise or policy-wise, to see our federal expansion funding cut."

What Happens Next

Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" narrowly passed the House last week and has now moved to the Senate.

David Ellison Purchases The Free Press for $150 Million, Appoints Bari Weiss Editor-in-Chief of CBS News

October 6, 2025 |

This is exactly as expected. Larry Ellison now controls TikTok while his son David Ellison now controls Paramount/Skydance which is CBS. To solidify the objective of TikTok, new algorithms will be implemented, while to solidify the objective of CBS, Bari Weiss is hired as Editor-in-Chief of news. [Paramount Announcement]

The Trump administration assisted both the purchase of TikTok by Larry Ellison, and the acquisition of Paramount by David Ellison. CBS settled with President Trump for $16 million.Paramount then purchases/acquires Bari Weiss online site The Free Press and moves Weiss to editor of CBS news, while President Trump triggers a tariff against Hollywood production movies not made in the USA.

L Ellison (Oracle, TikTok), Musk (X, SpaceX), Thiel (Palantir), Sacks (Crypto), Karp (Palantir) and D Ellison (CBS) are all well positioned to fundamentally change the way information is processed for public consumption. CNN (Disney) is likely to be the final piece of the puzzle to be assembled.

David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount, a Skydance Corporation, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Bari and The Free Press to Paramount and CBS News. Bari is a proven champion of independent, principled journalism, and I am confident her entrepreneurial drive and editorial vision will invigorate CBS News. This move is part of Paramount’s bigger vision to modernize content and the way it connects – directly and passionately – to audiences around the world.” (LINK)

(VIA NEW YORK TIMES) – […] In a move that is expected to shake up the broadcast news landscape, CBS’s owner, Paramount, said on Monday that it was buying The Free Press, an upstart digital news site founded just four years ago, and appointing Ms. Weiss, one of its founders, as the editor in chief of CBS News.

The purchase price was roughly $150 million in cash and Paramount stock, according to two people familiar with the terms who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The total amount will be paid out over time, and it may fluctuate depending on the price of Paramount’s stock.

The acquisition puts one of the country’s most traditional news institutions — the former home of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite — under the editorial guidance of a journalist who rose to fame in part by critiquing old-line media institutions that she deemed timid and untrustworthy.Ms. Weiss is also a stalwart champion of Israel, and her site frequently lambastes the perceived excesses of the so-called woke left.

Ms. Weiss, 41, has never run a TV network, and in her role will have influence over hundreds of producers, anchors and reporters around the world. She will report to David Ellison, Paramount’s chief executive, and work alongside Tom Cibrowski, the president of CBS News. (read more)

Bessent Names Social Security Chief Frank Bisignano as First CEO of the IRS

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who also serves as acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, has appointed Frank Bisignano, head of the Social Security Administration, to serve as the IRS’s first chief executive officer, creating a new leadership structure aimed at modernizing the tax agency and improving customer service.

The move marks a major step in the administration’s effort to bring private-sector management principles to federal operations. Bisignano, a longtime financial executive who previously led the payments-processing company Fiserv and held senior roles at JPMorgan Chase, will oversee the IRS’s day-to-day operations while continuing to run Social Security. He will report directly to Bessent, who remains acting commissioner.

“Frank is a businessman with an exceptional record of driving growth and efficiency in the private and now public sector,” Bessent said in a statement Monday. He described the new role as part of a broader plan to make the IRS more efficient, technologically advanced, and focused on serving taxpayers.

According to people familiar with the matter, the idea of naming a CEO for the IRS originated with President Trump, who has encouraged Cabinet secretaries to apply business-style leadership to government agencies. The president, they said, believes the IRS should treat taxpayers as customers—delivering faster responses, clearer communication, and more accountability.

Under the new structure, Treasury will retain policy oversight while Bisignano manages execution, similar to the relationship between a corporate board and its chief executive. The arrangement allows reforms to move forward without the delays of a Senate confirmation process.

Bisignano’s immediate priorities include preparing for the 2026 tax-filing season, implementing provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill tax law signed in July, and advancing long-planned technology upgrades. The law expands deductions for overtime, tips, and seniors and is expected to yield larger refunds early next year.

At the Social Security Administration, Bisignano introduced artificial-intelligence tools to shorten call-center wait times and reduce backlogs. Treasury officials said similar innovations are planned for the IRS as part of a broader push to improve “customer-experience metrics” across government.

Jim Banks: 2020 Census Handed ‘Disproportionate’ Power to Democrats, Illegal Aliens

Sean Moran6 Oct 2025

Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) on Monday urged Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to investigate and correct errors from the 2020 Census that may have improperly benefited Democrats and illegal aliens.

The Hoosier conservative wrote to Lutnick:

I urge you to investigate and correct errors from the 2020 Census that handed disproportionate political power to Democrats and illegal aliens. The Census Bureau adopted a new and opaque methodology called differential privacy that, by design, scrambles the populations of states and voting districts. As prepared by the Biden administration, the 2020 Census reports miscounted the population of fourteen states, wrongly allocating six congressional seats and Electoral College votes to the Democrat party. The reports may have also miscounted the population in a number of voting districts. And the reports definitively included illegal aliens without tracking those aliens’ citizenship status. If left uncorrected, these errors will continue diluting the political power of American citizens.

As Ken Klukowski, a former Breitbart News senior legal contributor, wrote, data revealed that the “Census Bureau in 2020 overcounted the population in Democrat states and undercounted in Republican states, resulting in wins for the Democrat party in congressional reapportionment.”

This gave Democrats an “unmerited boost in the Electoral College for the 2024 presidential election.”

The United States Census Bureau has reportedly used variations of differential privacy to install confidentiality protections, or what they call “disclosure avoidance.” For the 2020 Census data, the Bureau used a newer protection framework based on “differential privacy.”

Banks explained why he has issues with differential privacy, writing:

As problematic as the 2020 Census was for apportionment, it may have been disastrous for redistricting. Differential privacy alters the total population of individual voting districts, meaning that any voting district drawn since the 2020 census may in fact have been based on false data and may even be unlawful.

The worst part is that we don’t know how many voting districts are problematic. A file containing the original, unaltered census data exists, but only a few bureaucrats have access to it.

“It is crucial that the Census Bureau republishes the 2020 Census using the raw data so that states have a clear picture of their voting districts,” Banks added. “The Census Bureau must also use a methodology for the 2030 census that accurately counts state and voting district populations and that does not disproportionately benefit one political party.”

Trump to Cut Refugee Admissions by 94%, Mainly Aiding White South Africans

John Binder6 Oct 2025

President Donald Trump is reportedly looking to reduce annual refugee admissions by 94 percent compared to former President Joe Biden’s last year in office.

According to a report from the New York Times,Trump will reduce the refugee resettlement program’s annual cap to 7,500 admissions after Biden imported more than 100,000 refugees in Fiscal Year 2024 alone.

The refugee resettlement cap is merely a numerical limit and does not serve as a figure to be reached like a goal.

Most of the slots, according to the Times, would be reserved for South Africans who are the descendants of Dutch and French settlers.

Already this year, the Trump administration has welcomed such South Africans to the United States as refugees — a move that came with rebuke from the establishment media, Democrats, and refugee agencies, even as the refugees faced racial discrimination and violence in their home country.

Under Biden, the status of refugee to the United States was blown wide open as the administration created a parole pipeline that brought hundreds of thousands of migrants from Afghanistan, Latin America, the Caribbean, and other regions of the world as refugees.

Director Ridley Scott Says ‘Most Movies Are Sh*t’; Hollywood ‘Drowning in Mediocrity’

Warner Todd Huston6 Oct 2025

Legendary Hollywood director Ridley Scott says that thefilm industry is so bad that he is being relegated to just re-watching his own old films.

The famed Blade Runner director is very pessimistic about the film industry, calling most of what Hollywood is putting out is little else but “mediocrity,” Deadline reported.

“The quantity of movies that are made today, literally globally – millions. Not thousands, millions… and most of it is shit,” he said during an interview at BFI Southbank in London on Sunday. Scott also said many films are “saved” by the superior digital effects available to filmmakers now. But that is true because they don’t have “great thing on paper first.”

When asked what modern films he likes, he replied, “Well, actually, right now, I’m finding mediocrity – we’re drowning in mediocrity. And so what I do – it’s a horrible thing –but I’ve started watching my own movies, and actually they’re pretty good! And also, they don’t age.”

Scott, 87, went on to say that films are so bad, he is now going back and watching his own catalog.

“I watched Black Hawk [Down] the other night and I thought, ‘How in the hell did I manage to do that?’But I think occasionally a good one will happen, [and] it’s like a relief that there’s somebody out there who’s doing a good movie,” he exclaimed.

Scott also hinted about what plans he has for Gladiator 3.

“He’s around and he technically is the Emperor of Rome, and so I have a footprint about what I think it should be,” he said of the film’s hero.

While he is ready for another Gladiator, and he has signed on to multiple sequels for the Aliensseries,he recently noted that he turned down a $20 million opportunity to helm Terminator 3because he would “fuck it up” by trying to “make it real.”

While many are hopeful that artificial intelligence could help save Hollywood,Scott is more worried about AI than he is excited by it.

Back in 2023, he warned that we need to “lock down AI” before it gets out of hand.

“If I’m designing AI, I’m going to design a computer whose first job is to design another computer that’s cleverer than the first one,” he explained. “And when they get together, then you’re in trouble, because then it can take over the whole electrical-monetary system in the world and switch it off. That’s your first disaster. It’s a technical hydrogen bomb. Think about what that would mean.”

“AI will get dangerous,” he insisted.

Nolte: Report Says David Hogg Spent Donor Money on Fitness Classes

John Nolte6 Oct 2025

Democrat Party activist David Hogg is reaping millions in donor money through his political action committee,Leaders We Deserve, but not much of it is going towards political action, the New York Post contends.

According to the report, only $455,000 of the PACs money went towards candidates,$300,000 of that to a guy who didn’t need it—the Democrat party’s communist nominee for New York City Mayor, Zohran Mamdani.

Meanwhile, awhopping $2.5 million enriched political consultants, another $1.1 million went towards digital ads, presumably to promote the PAC, and another $965,000 was spent for donor mailing lists.

This guy, who seems to have learned the ways of Washington, D.C. quickly, also spent $5,000 of donor money on a subscription to a fitness class.

Hogg had promised to spend $20 million to topple incumbent Democrats who were not far enough to the left. His vow to go after incumbents is why he lost his position at the Democrat National Committee. But here we are, all these months later, andhe’s only spent $455,000 on candidates, while raking in millions that enrich the usual-usual consultant class.

Anti-gun fanatic David Hogg is one of the most shameless, scheming, mercenary operators to come along in my lifetime. His endless self-promotion is so obvious, I can’t fault him for any of this. He is who he is. He makes no secret of who he is. And anyone who gives him money knows who he is and what he is.

If you willingly give money to a person like that, it’s obvious you want to fund a person like that — including his Pilates classes.

“Washington is a frothing ecosystem of influencers, lobbyists, consultants, politicians, organizers, etc., paying and billing each otherin the name of greater causes,” concludes the Post. “Every generation brings forth new crusaders against this beast, only for many or most to go native.”

But that assumed Hogg ever wanted to be a reformer. I don’t believe that. Not for a second. I’ve never seen anything from Hogg that didn’t seem to be about enriching his own bank account, status, and/or privilege.

Hogg has expertly and methodically dry-humped his victimhood into a Harvard degree, media love, and wealth. People who give him money know this and have nothing to complain about.

Trump Greenlights Road Allowing Access to Key Minerals in Alaska

Nick Gilbertson6 Oct 2025

President DonaldTrump took action Monday to reverse a Biden-era decision on Ambler Road, which would provide access to the Ambler Mining District in northern Alaska, an area rich in copper and other key minerals, including gold and silver.

Trump announced the presidential action on Monday during an Oval Office press conference along with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

“We’re making [Alaska] greater, bigger, and more powerful and job-producing. It’s an economic gold mine, so to speak. And I signed this years ago, and Biden unsigned it,”Trump said.

“This was something that should have been long operating and making billions of dollars for our country and supplying a lot of energy and mineralsand everything else that we’re talking about,” he added. “And they undid it and wasted a lot of time and a lot of money, a lot of effort, and now we’re starting again.”

Trump added that there is ample time to complete the project over his presidency.

Burgum noted that the road would run from about 200 miles north of Fairbanks to the Ambler Mining District. He also spoke to the immense potential of the Ambler Mining District and the importance of critical minerals to America’s mission of beating China in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) “arms race”:

This is one of the richest copper locations in the country, and of course, today, to build a data center, you can have tens of thousands of tons of copper required for that. Even a single-family home today may have as much as 400 pounds of copper in a home, and we have as a nation in the past, basically gotten out of the mineral and energy and mining area. President Trump when he said, drill, baby drill, he also was mine, baby mine. We’ve got to get back in the mining business. China controls 85 to 100 percent of all the mining and refining of the top 20 critical minerals. And in this mine area up there, we got copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver, gallium, germanium–so rich in all of the minerals that we need to win the AI arms race against China and to prosper as a country.

Wright emphasized that Alaskans want to develop resources and desire the opportunities that come with it.

“This is a tremendous achievement for the people of Alaska,” Wright said. “We were in the North Slope of Alaska a few months ago, celebrating energy development there. They want jobs and opportunity to develop the resources on their lands.”

Hakeem Jeffries Stares Blankly into Space and Left Speechless After CNBC Host Hits Him Hard with Facts on Trump’s Record Achievements(VIDEO)

By Jim Hoft Oct. 7, 2025

Let’s hope that Democrats keep Hakeem Jeffries as their House leader for years to come.

The guy is as impressive as a brick.

Monday on CNBC, host Joe Kemen hit the Democrat leader with a flurry of facts on President Trump 47’s many achievements.

Hakeem sat there silently and stared blankly into space.

Joe Kemen: Mr. Speaker, I don’t know about deflation and costs coming down. All I can tell you is that the inflation rate itself was 2.7% in the most recent read, year over year, versus, it got to a high of 9% under Biden. Stocks are at record highs. Unemployment is 4.2%. That’s full employment. The GDP was 3%. The border is actually secure. We’ve got trade deals with EU, Japan, many more in the works, and trillions of dollars of foreign investment coming here. Iran’s nuclear ambitions have been set back indefinitely. And, I just wrote down a few things.

I just have to ask you, where is the calamity that you’re talking about? It almost seems like for Democrats, socialism is the answer to these problems, or I don’t know, an end of democracy or something. We just don’t get it.

Democrats have no answer to President Trump. That’s why they are siding with criminal illegal aliens and cheering the assassination of prominent Republicans.

Maybe it’s finally time the slaver party was disbanded in America?

Zelensky Floated Stepping Down from Power ‘For Peace’, but Instead He Is Intimidating and Silencing Opponents, Paving the Way for a Vote That Keeps Him in Office: REPORT

by Paul Serran Oct. 6, 2025 8:40

Zelensky is working hard to remain in power.

Between his endless trips abroad to get support and money from his war sponsors, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is moving strongly to cement his chances in the event of an upcoming election.

But because his popularity is so low, to achieve that, he has to neutralize his opponents.

Almost no one believed his recent claims that he is ‘ready not to go for the second term’ because ‘it’s not [his] goal’, repeating the claims he made last winter.

Politico reported:

“In a move presumably aiming to take the sting out of the ‘autocrat’ allegation,Zelenskyy announced [last winter] dramatically that he was ‘ready’ to go if his resignation would help secure a ceasefire with Russia and gain Ukraine’s admission into NATO. ‘If [it guarantees] peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to resign,I am ready. I can exchange it for NATO’, he said.

This time round he told Axios: ‘My goal is to finish the war’ and not necessarily to continue to run for office. He also vowed to ask Ukraine’s parliament to organize elections if a ceasefire is agreed.”

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze an oppositionist and Ukraine’s former Deputy Prime Minister, says that many of Zelenskyy’s actions point in the direction of him securing his position.

“After what happened in July with the anti-corruption bodies, politics in Ukraine is back,” said a former Ukrainian minister. “It’s impossible to hide it.” He asked not to be identified for this articlein order to avoid the ire of the president’s aides who,he says, are using lawfare to intimidate and silence critics and political opponents.

[…] Another former minister agrees, arguing that Zelenskyy’s aides are using all the power and tools at their disposal to smear and hamper rivals to tilt the playing field.

Essentially, the tactic is that ‘you say something against us, we open up criminal proceedings against you and sanction you,’ he told POLITICO after being granted anonymity to speak freely. ‘They’re essentially blackmailing all their potential opponents or perceived opponents’.”

The lawfare against opponents often involves accusations of treason and ‘nefarious ties to Russia’, and the anti-corruption agencies also remain a big target of Kiev’s regime.

Schumer Shutdown Day 6: Senate Proposals to Reopen Government Fail Again – Trump Responds

by Cristina Laila Oct. 6, 2025 6:00

Schumer Shutdown day 6

The US Senate voted again on Monday to reopen the government.

As expected, the measures failed again.

On October 1 at 12:01 am, the government partially shut down because two measures failed in the Senate. The measures to reopen the government failed again on Wednesday morning.

The House passed a clean, short-term stopgap funding bill to keep the government open. Schumer rejected it.

House Speaker Mike Johnson laid it out clearly:

Democrats demanded restoring healthcare access for illegal aliens.

They wanted $500 million funneled back to leftist PBS propaganda.

They tried to slash funding for rural hospitals that serve working-class Americans.

They demanded $1.5 trillion in NEW spending tied to just a seven-week funding measure.

Instead of working with Republicans to responsibly extend funding until November, Schumer chose a shutdown.

The Senate blocked the Democrat-proposed bill 45-50. The GOP-backed proposal failed 52-42.

President Trump blasted the Democrats shortly after the dueling Senate proposals failed on Monday evening.

“Democrats have SHUT DOWN the United States Government right in the midst of one of the most successful Economies, including a Record Stock Market, that our Country has ever had. This has sadly affected so many programs, services, and other elements of Society that Americans rely on — And it should not have happened.I am happy to work with the Democrats on their Failed Healthcare Policies, or anything else, but first they must allow our Government to re-open. In fact, they should open our Government tonight!” Trump said on Truth Social.

Trump Hints of Decision To Send Long-Range Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine, a Day After Putin’s Warning That It Would Destroy All Progress in US-Russia Relations

by Paul Serran Oct. 6, 2025 5:30 l

Tomahawks for Ukraine is a sign of escalations between US and Russia.

Back in late September, in the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, US President Donald J.Trump that the ‘mandatory’ face-to-face with Kiev regime leader, Volodymyr Zelensky.

In his statements to the press and in subsequent social media posts, Trump appeared to start to cheer for Ukraine and incentivize it to regain lost territory –while at the same time reinforcing the understanding that European powers will have to carry the burden of this war.

But at that point, there was one item of military hardware that the US president reportedly refused to include in the packages that the EU can buy to send to Zelensky: Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Now, a little over a month later, Trump seems to have changed his mind about a weapon that has the range for strikes deep inside Russian territory, potentially even Moscow.

Sure enough, Trump says he will somehow curate which targets can be hit – but that’s not going to make Russian President Vladimir Putin any less angry about it.

One aspect that the Russian side has endlessly highlighted is that Ukrainian forces can’t operate and launch the Tomahawk.

Al the satellite and spy plane images for targeting are supplied by the US or affiliated companies.

And to actually fire the missiles would need the physical presence of US operators on the ground.

That is bound to send renewed bilateral relations in the dust bin.

Uproar in EU after Merkel’s claim of Ukraine talks ‘sabotage’

Leaders in Poland and the Baltic states are fuming after the ex-German chancellor suggested they derailed 2021 negotiations with Russia

Senior officials in Poland and the Baltic states have blasted former German Chancellor Angela Merkel after she claimedthey derailed potential EU-Russia talks on Ukraine months before the escalation of the conflict in 2022.

As chancellor, Merkel spearheaded the 2014 and 2015 Minsk agreements, which aimed to resolve the hostilities in Donbass by giving the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state. However,Russia accused Ukraine of failing to implement the agreement and ultimately sent troops into the neighboring country to protect the people of Donbass.

In an interview with the Hungarian YouTube channel Partizan, Merkel said that “already in June 2021, I felt that… Putin was no longer taking the Minsk agreement seriously,”adding that she wanted “a new format” in which the EU as a whole could talk to Russia.

The ex-chancellor noted that some EU nations, including the Baltic States and Poland, were against doing so,because “they feared that we would not have a common policy towards Russia.”

Former Polish PrimeMinister Mateusz Morawiecki described Merkel’s remarks as “shameful,” adding that her “arrogance knows no bounds.” “She pursued a policy that made Europe dependent on Russian energy [and] disarmed the continent militarily,” he charged.

“Today, Angela Merkel accuses Poland and the Baltic states of blocking her alleged ‘peace plan’ toward Russia. So, the fault lies not with the Chancellor who made Europe dependent on the Kremlin for years, but with Poland, which warned against Putin. This is pure grotesque,”Morawiecki claimed.

Former Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins echoed that criticism, saying that Merkel led Germany through aperiod when many hoped that “if we behave properly, Putin will also behave properly,” and added: “It is surprising that the former German chancellor would say something like this today.”

In Estonia, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna claimed that the Ukraine conflict was driven by “Moscow’s refusal to accept the Soviet Union’s collapse and its unrelenting imperialist ambitions.”

Russia, for its part, has argued that NATO expansion towards its borders triggered the conflict. Moscow has also argued that NATO is in a de facto “war” with Russia by supporting Kiev.

Von der Leyen accuses critics of serving Russia

The European Commission president is facing two no-confidence votes amid mounting challenges to her leadership

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has claimed thatshe is being targeted by a Russian-backed campaign, as she urged MEPs not to support attempts to oust her.

The EU’s top executive faces twin challenges this week from both left- and right-wing factionsin the European Parliament. During a debate on Monday, von der Leyen repeated her earlier defense from July, when she survived a previous censure vote, accusing her detractors of doing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bidding.

In her address, von der Leyen alleged thatPutin had recently “crowed about what he coined as the cracks of the edifice of Europe” and that he was “not hiding his glee and support for all of his obedient friends in Europe who are doing his work for him.”

“This is the oldest trick in the book: sow division, spread disinformation, create a scapegoat, all to turn Europeans against each other,” von der Leyen alleged.

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club last week,Putin lamented what he described as missed opportunities for cooperation with the EU, as it increasingly abandons traditional values and dilutes national identities. He noted that then-German Chancellor Helmut Kohl once told him in the 1990s that Russia and the EU were natural partners.

That is not our business – it’s an internal European debate. But if that basis of values is gone, then the Europe that we all loved will be too,”Putin remarked. He added that the growing success of nationalist parties across Europe reflected this identity crisis.

While Politico predicted on Monday that von der Leyen will likely survive the upcoming confidence votes – both set for Thursday, October 9 – it described them as a sign of deepening discontent from lawmakers. An official working for theEU’s executive body told the outlet there is “clear frustration in Parliament toward this Commission,” adding that “it would be great if they raised the threshold” for future attempts to force a vote of no-confidence.

Ukrainian officer moved troops from front to wife’s kebab kiosk – investigators

The officer and the soldiers have been charged over the alleged fraud scheme

A Ukrainian military officer has beencharged with abuse of power after allegedly diverting two of his subordinates from combat duty and assigning them to work at his wife’s kebab kiosk, the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) reported on Tuesday.

According to the agency, the scheme ran for nearly two years and benefited both the officer and the soldiers, who are now being prosecuted separately for fraudulently avoiding military service.

The officer served as deputy commander of an unidentified regiment- or battalion-level unit, the DBR said. While the soldiers were officially listed on the Defense Ministry’s payroll and even received combat pay, they were in fact working as menial laborers for their superior’s family, including helping run the food stand. The total damage to the state was estimated at around $100,000.

The Ukrainian military has a persistent problem of corruption, which among other things undermines Kiev’s ongoing mobilization campaign. Many Ukrainians seek to bribe their way out of conscription or go into hiding to avoid service under a system widely perceived as discriminating against the poor.

In a recent survey by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS),more than 70% of respondents said corruption has worsened over the past three years, while only 5% said they saw some improvement.

Americans less confident about woman in White House – poll

Skepticism has grown following Vice President Kamala Harris’ election loss

Americans remain wary of electing a female president, a new nationwide survey on voter attitudes toward women in politics has suggested.Confidence that the country is ready for a woman in the Oval Office has steadily declined over the past decade, a trend reinforced by the recent election defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris’ 2024 loss to Donald Trump followed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, in which she won the popular vote but fell short in key swing states. Together, the two defeats have reignited debate over gender and electability in US politics.

The report, “She Leads: Progress and Persistent Barriers for Women in Politics,” was released earlier this week and revealed lingering resistance to the idea of a female president despite broad support for women in politics.

One in five respondents said they or someone close to them would not vote for a woman for the nation’s highest office. The reluctance is even stronger among voters under 50, with 25% of women and 20% of men saying they would not support a qualified female candidate. By contrast, only 13% of voters over 50 shared that view.

Respondents highlighted that they trust women more on social issues, but tend to favor men when it comes to national security and international affairs.

The ‘Harris Effect’ remains a point of contention and votersare divided on whether the former vice president has made it easier or harder for a woman to become president. Republicans and independents tend to believe it has made it more difficult, the research suggests.

The survey, commissioned by the American University’s Women and Politics Institute, was conducted in September 2025 by Benenson Strategy Group. The poll of 801 registered voters had a 3.5-point margin of error, according to the press release.

Earlier polling showed higher levels of optimism. A YouGov survey for The Times in July 2024 found 54% of Americans believed the country was ready for a female president, down from 63% in 2015.

Wisconsin judge orders election officials to check citizenship of registered voters

Molly Beck

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

• A Waukesha County judge has ordered the Wisconsin Elections Commission to verify the citizenship of all registered voters.

• The verification process for 3.6 million voters must be completed before the February 18 statewide primary election.

• The decision is a victory for conservatives who have raised concerns about noncitizens potentially being on voter rolls.

MADISON — The citizenship status of all Wisconsin voters must be verified before the next statewide election in February, a Waukesha County judge has ordered.

The ruling from Waukesha County Circuit JudgeMichael Maxwell requires the Wisconsin Elections Commission to review the state's voter rolls over the next five months to determine whether anyone who is not a U.S. citizen is registered to vote.Maxwell also ordered election officials to verify citizenship of any new registrants. The ruling requires state election officials to verify citizenship by matching voter registration information to state Department of Transportation files or other state records, but did not outline how officials would verify citizenship for voters who do not have a driver's license, for example.

The ruling is a win for Republicans who have put a sharp focus on whether noncitizens are voting in U.S. elections despite being banned by federal law from doing so. The lawsuit was filed by a Pewaukee resident and conservative attorneys in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.

U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is running for governor in 2026, called the ruling a "BIG win for election integrity."

"This ends the system where voters simply affirm citizenship," he said in a post on X.

State law currently requires voters to attest they are U.S. citizens but does not require election officials to obtain proof.

UN refugee agency chief suggests that US deportation practices violate the law

The head of the U.N. refugee agency has suggested that President Donald Trump’s America has carried out deportation practices that violate international law

By JAMEY KEATEN Associated Press

October 6, 2025, 12:19 PM ET

GENEVA – GENEVA (AP) — The head of the U.N. refugee agency suggested Monday that President Donald Trump’s America has carried out deportation practices that violate international law, and criticized a wider “backlash” in some countries against migrants and refugees.

Filippo Grandi, the U.N. high commissioner for refugees, used a speech to lament that drastic funding cuts and shortages have forced his agency, UNHCR, to slash nearly 5,000 jobs this year, or nearly a quarter of its workforce. The cuts may not be finished, he said.

“This was certainly not an easy year for any of us,” Grandi told the opening of UNHCR’s executive committee. “But remember, please: There has never been an easy year to be a refugee — and there never will be.”

He did cite some bright spots and praised the Trump administration-led peace efforts in Congo, where conflict has displaced millions of people.

At the U.N. General Assembly last month, the Trump administration — which has slashed support this year for international humanitarian aid — pitched other countries on its view that the global system of seeking asylum has been abused and needs to be revamped, in part by cracking down on migration.

Other traditional donors have cut back their aid outlays for UNHCR this year.

In recent years, the agency has received roughly $5 billion a year — or half its budgetary requirements — even as conflict and repression in places like Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan, Venezuela and Ukraine have led the number of people fleeing their homes to roughly double over the last decade — to 122 million.

In the politically charged environment of today, Grandi said, “putting the (U.N.) Refugee Convention and the principle of asylum on the table would be a catastrophic error.” He insisted that “national sovereignty and the right to seek asylum ”are not incompatible. They are complementary.”

Grandi, whose term is up at the end of this year, decried an erosion of respect for international law in certain developed countries and noted that most refugees are taken in by poorer ones.

“I am worried that the current debate – in Europe, for example – and some current deportation practices – such as in the United States – address real challenges in manners not consistent with international law,” he said.

Tommy Pigott, a U.S. State Department spokesman, defended U.S. immigration and migration policies and said Trump’s speech at the United Nations was “a call to action against the destructive policies promoting mass and illegal migration that globalist bureaucrats have pushed for years.”

“Our actions are consistent with U.S. law and the will of the American people, who demand secure borders and a lawful immigration system,” Pigott said.

Grandi also cited some optimistic developments: More than 1 million refugees from Syria have now returned home. A “glimmer of hope” has emerged in the eastern Congo conflict between Rwanda-backed forces and Congo’s armed forces.

“Thanks to peace efforts spearheaded by the United States, instead of speaking only of more bloodshed, or more refugees, we can start to think – cautiously, but a little bit more optimistically — of stability and returns,” he said.

If This Is What Non-Conservative Media Figures Are Seeing, the GOP Should Hold Firm in Shutdown Fight

Ex-MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin isn’t a Trump supporter. He’s not even a conservative. So, if he knows who the biggest losers were last week amid the Schumer shutdown, you know this is bad for Democrats. And, as it so happens,Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) were selected as the two dolts, with Halperin noting the appalling lack of influence and power wielded by the two men who are the face of the leadership for congressional Democrats. His assessment was brutal: they’re the biggest losers, because everyone ignores them, including members of their own party. Halperin dropped his assessment on October 3 (via Daily

“Schumer and Jeffries met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Monday to discuss a short-term spending bill to prevent a government shutdown, but they did not reach an agreement. Halperin said during his show’s “losers of the week” segment that neither the media nor Democrats had confidence in Schumer and Jeffries.

“Never in my career have I seen two leaders so dismissed, not just by the media, which normally loves Democrats, but privately by Democratic members of the House and Senate,” Halperin said. “People are just rolling their eyes and throwing their hands up and saying, ‘There’s nothing we can do. We’re not going to depose them now, but they are not leading us’ in the view of Democrats saying that ‘they’re not leading through this confrontation.'”

“I’ve never seen the senior Democrats in both chambers — or Republicans — I’ve never seen attitude like this,” he added.

Far-left professor Eman Abdelhadi charged with violent felonies after Chicago ICE facility riots

Oct. 7, 2025, 8:35 a.m. ET

A far-left University of Chicago professor has been arrested and charged with violent felonies following riots at an ICE facility in the city, law enforcement has said.

Eman Abdelhadi, an associate professor in the university’s Department of Comparative Human Development, was arrested Friday and charged withtwo counts of aggravated battery to a government employee, a Class 3 felony, and two counts of resisting/obstruction peace, a Class A misdemeanor, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News.

Radical sociologist Abdelhadi, who previously cursed out her employer while speaking at a “Socialism 2025” conference, is due in court again on Tuesday.

Leftist rioters have held weeks-long rallies outside an ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, blocking vehicles from exiting and engaging in violent confrontations with police.

Abdelhadi posted pictures from the rally on Friday, including a photo of state troopers, whom she accused of “enforcing [President] Trump’s agenda of terrorizing our community with abductions,” her X account shows.

The professor previously made headlines over her foul-mouthed critique of UoC at a socialist event.

“F–k the University of Chicago, it’s evil, you know it’s a colonial landlord. Like, why would I put any of my political energy into this space?I kind of had a little bit of disdain for people who spent their time doing that,” she said during her July address.

DOJ contradicts DeSantis: Some detainees at ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ likely never in removal proceedings

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — U.S. government lawyers say that detainees at the immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades known as “Alligator Alcatraz” likely include people who have never been in removal proceedings, which is a direct contradiction to what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been saying since it opened in July.

Attorneys for the U.S. Department of Justice made that admission Thursday in a court filing arguing that the detainees at the facility in the Everglades wilderness don’t have enough in common to be certified as a class in a lawsuit over whether they’re getting proper access to attorneys.

A removal proceeding is a legal process initiated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to determine if someone should be deported from the United States.

The DOJ attorneys wrote that the detainees at the Everglades facility have too many different immigration statuses to be considered a class.

“The proposed class includes all detainees at Alligator Alcatraz, a facility that houses detainees in all stages of immigration processing — presumably including those who have never been in removal proceedings, those who will be placed into removal proceedings, those who are already subject to final orders of removal, those subject to expedited removal, and those detained for the purpose of facilitation removal from the United States pursuant to a final order of removal,” they wrote.

Since the facility opened, DeSantis has been saying publicly that each detainee has gone through the process of determining that they can’t legally be in the United States.

During a July 25 news conference outside the detention center, DeSantis said, “Everybody here is already on a final removal order.”

“They have been ordered to be removed from the country,” he added.

At a July 29 speech before a conference of the Florida Sheriffs Association, the Republican governor said, “The people that are going to the Alligator Alcatraz are illegally in the country. They’ve all already been given a final order of removal.”

He added, “So, if you have an order to be removed, what is the possible objection to the federal government enforcing that removal order?”

DeSantis’ press office didn’t respond Monday morning to an email seeking comment.

The court filing by the DOJ attorneys was made in a lawsuit in which civil rights groups allege the facility’s detainees have been denied proper access to attorneys in violation of their constitutional rights. The civil rights groups on Thursday asked a federal judge in Fort Myers for a preliminary injunction that would establish stronger protections for detainees to meet with attorneys privately and share documents confidentially.

The court case is one of three lawsuits filed by environmental and civil rights groups over the detention center, which was hastily built this summer by the state of Florida and operated by private contractors and state agencies.

A federal judge in Miami ordered in August that the facility must wind down operations within two months, agreeing with environmental groups that the remote airstrip site wasn’t given a proper environmental review before it was converted into an immigration detention center. But operations continued after the judge’s preliminary injunction was put on hold in early September by an appellate court panel. At one point, the facility held more than 900 detainees, but most of them were transferred after the initial injunction. It wasn’t clear on Monday how many detainees were at the center, which was built to hold 3,000 people.

Tom Fitton — Supreme Court to hear ‘most important election law case’ in 20 years, tomorrow.

Judicial Watch: Supreme Court Oral Argument on Wednesday in Historic Illinois Election Integrity Case 1/2

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that oral argument will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the Supreme Court of the United States in a historic case filed on behalf ofCongressman Mike Bost and two presidential electors, who are before the court to vindicate their standing to challenge an Illinois law allowing the counting of ballots received up to 14 days after Election Day(Rep. Michael J. Bost, Laura Pollastrini, and Susan Sweeney v. The Illinois State Board of Elections and Bernadette Matthews (No. 1:22-cv-02754, 23-2644, 24-568)).

The case concerns whether Bost and the electors have standing to challenge Illinois’ counting of ballots that arrive after the Election Day deadlines set by federal law. The Election Day lawsuit was initially filed on May 25, 2022. A lower court dismissed the claim for lack of standing, which was upheld by a split 2-1 panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

“This is the most important Supreme Court election law case in a generation. Too many courts have denied candidates their right to challenge unlawful election rules such as the outrageous act of counting ballots that arrive AFTER Election Day. American citizens concerned about election integrity will tune in closely to Judicial Watch’s Supreme Court arguments Wednesday,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Judicial Watch’s September brief to the High Court states:

• Illinois counts mail-in ballots received up to two weeks after Election Day. Petitioners, candidates for federal office, claim that under controlling federal law that is two weeks too long. As a result, Illinois is counting unlawful ballots and producing inaccurate vote tallies, while simultaneously hurting petitioners’ prospects at the ballot box and injuring their pocketbooks.

Judicial Watch submits that the Seventh Circuit’s decision is wrong and dangerous:

• It is wrong because candidates have standing to challenge the rules that govern their elections, especially when their merits theory (which must be credited for standing purposes) is that the challenged rule produces an inaccurate final tally. At a minimum, the candidate has standing when (as here) he plausibly alleges that the challenged rule will harm his electoral prospects and reduce his bank balance because he needs to pay campaign staff an extra two weeks. And the decision is dangerous because it forces judges to play political prognosticators, skews standing rules to favor certain kinds of candidates, and funnels election disputes to the worst possible context—namely, after the election where judges are asked to declare political winners. This Court should reverse.

Judicial Watch states that Bost has standing to challenge the Illinois law:=

• At the very least, Congressman Bost has standing to challenge the Illinois ballot-receipt deadline here, as a host of diverse amici confirm. Congressman Bost plausibly alleged a substantial risk that counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day will harm his electoral prospects both by risking electoral defeat and reducing his margin of victory. The plausibility of those allegations was amply reinforced by the Illinois Democratic Party’s attempted intervention and voting and litigation patterns nationwide. And he has also plausibly alleged a classic pocketbook injury because he expended additional campaign funds as a direct result of the state’s extended deadline for receiving mail-in ballots. Here too, the notion that an election artificially extended a fortnight costs more than one that ends on Election Day hardly strains credulity. The state’s contrary arguments lack merit.

In its previous Supreme Court brief, Judicial Watch states:

Federal law sets the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November as the federal Election Day.

Candidates have an obvious interest in the lawfulness and fairness of the rules that govern the elections into which they pour their time and resources. They also have an obvious interest “in ensuring that the final vote tally accurately reflects the legally valid votes cast.”

Candidates pour enormous resources into running for election and have an obvious interest in the rules that dictate how long their races will last and how the ballots will be counted. They also have a distinct interest “in ensuring that the final vote tally accurately reflects the legally valid votes cast.”

The results are striking. After accounting for age, sex, comorbidities, income level, and prior COVID-19 infection, COVID-19 vaccination was linked to significant increases in multiple major cancers, with the signal consistent across all vaccine platforms, both sexes, and age groups:

Study Design at a Glance

Design & data: Population-based retrospective cohort using the Korean National Health Insurance database (2021–2023).

Population: 8,407,849 adults.

Exposure: COVID-19 vaccination (analyzed overall and by platform: mRNA, cDNA, and heterologous schedules).

Matching: Large-scale propensity score matching (1:4 vaccinated:unvaccinated for the main analysis; 1:2 within vaccinated for booster vs non-booster).

Modeling: Multivariable Cox proportional hazards models (adjusted for age, sex, comorbidity index, income level, and prior COVID-19 infection), estimating hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs); analyses stratified by sex and age.

Outcome window: 1-year incidence of overall and site-specific cancers post-vaccination.

Key Results — Cancers with Significant Increases (1-year follow-up)

Overall cancer: HR 1.27 (95% CI, 1.21–1.33) → 27% higher risk of all cancers combined in vaccinated vs. unvaccinated at 1 year.

Lung cancer: HR 1.53 (95% CI, 1.25–1.87) → 53% higher risk

Prostate cancer: HR 1.69 (1.35–2.11) → 69% higher risk

Thyroid cancer: HR 1.35 (1.21–1.51) → 35% higher risk

Gastric (stomach) cancer: HR 1.34 (1.13–1.58) → 34% higher risk

Colorectal cancer: HR 1.28 (1.12–1.47) → 28% higher risk

Breast cancer: HR 1.20 (1.07–1.34) → 20% higher risk

Interpretation: An HR of 1.53 for lung cancer means that vaccinated individuals developed lung cancer at a rate 53% higher than matched unvaccinated peers, over the same one-year follow-up period. Similar interpretations apply to each cancer type.….

EXCLUSIVE: Democrat Lawmaker Advises Ukraine Lobby Now Partnered With Zelensky’s Ministry of Defense

NATALIE WINTERS

OCT 07, 2025

A Washington-based lobbying network with deep ties to the Biden administration has quietly expanded its partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense — and one of its top advisors is a sitting Democrat in Congress.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), the longest-serving woman in the House and a senior appropriator overseeing defense funding, currently sits on the board of advisors of the U.S.–Ukraine Business Council (USUBC). This organization just signed a new cooperation agreement with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense to coordinate defense-industry projects.

The partnership blurs every line between lobbying, governance, and defense contracting, effectively turning a foreign-registered business council into a de facto arm of U.S.–Ukraine military integration.

The Stealth Expansion

Late last month, top officials from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense met with USUBC executives in Kyiv to formalize an expanded “defense partnership.”

The new arrangement involves joint coordination for upcoming defense forums, procurement discussions, and bilateral meetings in both Kyiv and Washington, D.C. including the DFNC³ Defense Forum in Ukraine and the AUSA 2025 defense industry conference in the U.S.

According to statements from the Ministry, the goal is to open Ukraine’s defense industry “to a new level of partnership with global companies” and to integrate Ukrainian arms production into the global supply chain.

What this means in practice: U.S. defense contractors gain a direct channel into Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, brokered through a D.C. lobbying organization. (One that includes a sitting member of Congress.)

Kaptur’s Role: A Sitting Lawmaker Advising a Foreign-Linked Defense Lobby

As an Advisor to USUBC, Rep. Kaptur occupies a position that would typically be held by former officials, lobbyists, or industry executives.

Her committee assignments make the overlap even more glaring.

Kaptur sits on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, which helps decide how billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars are spent on Ukraine’s military assistance programs.

In other words, she helps approve the very funds her affiliated organization stands to benefit from through expanded defense collaboration.

Neither Kaptur’s office nor USUBC has publicly commented on the potential ethics implications of this relationship.

Inside the U.S.–Ukraine Business Council

Founded in the 1990s, USUBC describes itself as a “non-profit business association promoting U.S. commercial engagement with Ukraine.”

But its member list reads like a who’s-who of the defense industrial complex — including Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman — along with energy and consulting giants linked to Burisma and Hunter Biden’s former associates.

The organization’s structure effectively allows U.S. defense firms, political consultants, and Ukrainian officials to operate under one umbrella, coordinating “economic partnerships” that routinely overlap with military logistics and weapons procurement.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense is openly courting Western arms manufacturers to set up joint ventures, assembly lines, and technology exchanges within the country.

Under the new USUBC framework, U.S. contractors are invited to “co-develop” production inside Ukraine —blurring the line between aid and investment.
