President Trump tore into Jack Smith as “a real sleazebag” following stunning revelations that the FBI obtained phone records of eight Republican senators under the former special counsel’s watch.

As a part of the Biden administration’s “Arctic Frost” probe helmed by Smith, the FBI conducted a “preliminary toll analysis” on the GOP lawmakers in 2023, a bombshell document released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Monday revealed.

“Deranged Jack Smith got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. A real sleazebag!!!” Trump chided on Truth Social.

Smith had led the Justice Department team that slapped Trump with 44 felony counts across two separate indictments, including the Mar-a-Lago document debacle and the 2020 election interference case.

Arctic Frost was the bureau’s probe into 2020 election interference concerns.

The probe launched in April 2022 and Smith took it over later that year.

Lawmakers targeted by the bureau were Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), as well as Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), according to the document released by Grassley.

GOP senators said they had no idea what grounds the FBI had to allegedly spy on them. The agency is believed to have looked at phone records such as who called who and at what time, rather than actually tapping in on calls, according to Johnson.

The one-page document released Monday was a Sept. 27, 2023, file titled “CAST Assistance,” which refers to the bureau’s cellular analysis team.

It indicated that the bureau had finished a “preliminary toll analysis on limited toll records.”

FBI Director Kash Patel’s team discovered the document after an employee attempted to get recertified for the bureau’s CAST system and cited it as an example of how the program was used in the past, Johnson told reporters.

GOP senators were furious about the revelation and announced plans to investigate the matter.

“Based on the evidence to-date, Arctic Frost and related weaponization by federal law enforcement under Biden was arguably worse than Watergate,” Grassley said in a statement.

“If heads don’t roll in this town, nothing changes,” Grassley later grumbled to reporters.

Biden FBI Spied on Eight Republican Senators as Part of Arctic Frost Investigation, Grassley Oversight Reveals

WASHINGTON – An explosive FBI document obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) reveals the FBI targeted eight Republican senators’ personal cell phones for “tolling data” as part of its Arctic Frost investigation. One Republican member of the House of Representatives was also impacted. The Arctic Frost investigation formed the basis of Jack Smith’s elector case against President Donald Trump.

The FBI in 2023 sought and obtained data about the senators’ phone use from January 4 through January 7, 2021. That data shows when and to whom a call is made, as well as the duration and general location data of the call. The data does not include the content of the call.

This document was found in a Prohibited Access file in response to Grassley’s oversight requests. Grassley’s oversight exposed the existence of Prohibited Access files, a file system the FBI uses to limit access to certain documents by making some files inaccessible to most FBI agents.

“Based on the evidence to-date, Arctic Frost and related weaponization by federal law enforcement under Biden was arguably worse than Watergate.

“What I’ve uncovered today is disturbing and outrageous political conduct by the Biden FBI. The FBI’s actions were an unconstitutional breach, and Attorney General Bondi and Director Patel need to hold accountable those involved in this serious wrongdoing.

“I started the Arctic Frost investigation in July 2022 after hearing from whistleblowers. It’s taken years to get records and advance my investigation, but what the public is seeing now demonstrates the importance of congressional oversight and whistleblowers. My whistleblowers deserve great thanks for what they’ve helped expose. None of this would have been known without them.”

Background:

The FBI’s Arctic Frost investigation was opened in April 2022 by former anti-Trump agent Timothy Thibault. In November 2022, it was assigned to Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Whistleblower disclosures to Grassley earlier this year revealed the FBI acquired the government cell phones of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence during its Arctic Frost investigation. Officials in the Biden White House personally assisted the FBI in securing Trump and Pence’s government phones. FBI agents used taxpayer dollars to travel the country and conduct dozens of interviews in support of the political probe.

Records Grassley made public last month showed the FBI also placed 92 Republican-linked individuals and Republican groups – such as Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA – under Arctic Frost’s investigative scope.

Grassley Investigates ‘Prohibited Access’ Files at FBI, Demands Accountability for Document Destruction and Obstruction in Mueller Investigation

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is following up on recent revelations in a declassified Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) analysis he released exposing the FBI for placing certain Crossfire Hurricane files under “Prohibited Access” status, potentially preventing most FBI agents, Congress and the Inspector General from accessing some FBI records.

Grassley is demanding Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel search for and produce all records related to Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the Biden family that may currently be under “Prohibited” or “Restricted” Access.

“As I’m sure you are aware, the impact of parking records in a way that impedes, or in some cases prevents, responsive records from being produced to Congress pursuant to a valid request and during the course of court litigation, whether criminal or civil, is wide-ranging and potentially catastrophic to constitutional requirements,” Grassley wrote to Bondi and Patel. “Indeed, if the FBI has failed to take steps in the past to access records in ‘Restricted’ or ‘Prohibited’ status, the FBI has not fully responded to many years of my oversight requests.”

Grassley is also seeking records relating to current and former Department of Justice (DOJ)/FBI officials who may have committed serious misconduct by mishandling and destroying federal records, particularly related to Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into the now-discredited Trump-Russia hoax.

According to Freedom of Information Act disclosures, former Mueller team member Andrew Weissman deleted all of the data on his government phone multiple times over the course of the Meuller investigation.

Additionally, whistleblowers allege the following of Special Agent (SA) Walter Giardina, who played a significant role in the investigation and prosecution of Trump advisor Peter Navarro, as well as Arctic Frost, Crossfire Hurricane, Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation, and the Dan Scavino, Roger Stone and Hillary Clinton cases:

SA Giardina was an initial recipient of the Steele Dossier and falsely said that the report was corroborated as true.

SA Giardina stated openly his animosity toward President Trump and made known his personal motivation to investigate Trump.

SA Giardina electronically wiped the laptop he was assigned while working for Special Counsel Mueller outside of established protocol for record preservation, raising the possibility that he destroyed government records. The destruction of the laptop was reported to the DOJ Office of Inspector General.

SA Giardina instructed agents to use false Emolument Clause predication on President Trump to “dig around.”

SA Giardina was a case agent assigned to the Crimson River case, later changed to Red Maasari. This case was leaked, by whom it is not known, to the Washington Post in August 2024, roughly 90 days before the presidential election, in an attempt to falsely discredit President Trump.
