Reporter: Is it the White House's position that furloughed workers should be paid for their back pay?

President Trump: I would say, it depends on who we're talking about. I can tell you this, the democrats have put a lot of people in great risk and jeopardy, but it really depends on who you're talking about. But for the most part, we're gonna take care of our people. There are some people that really don't deserve to be taken care of, and we'll take care of them in a different way.

President Trump: It's been invoked before [Insurrection Act], as you know. If you look at Chicago, Chicago's a great city where there's a lot of crime, and if the governor can't do the job, we'll do the job. It's all very simple.

President Trump: In D.C., we took out seventeen; one thousand, seven hundred career criminals, and sent them back to the countries from which they came.

President Trump: If we didn't win this election, if we had these people that were running, that were ruining our country, destroying our country with their open borders, men playing in women's sports, transgender for everybody, windmills all over the place; if we allowed that to go on for another couple of years, we would be; I'm not sure we'd even have a country.

President Trump: I just don't know if Schumer has any power anymore.

Reporter: How many permanent jobs are you talking about being eliminated?

President Trump: I'll be able to tell you that in four or five days if this keeps going on [shutdown]. If this keeps going on, it'll be substantial. And a lot of those jobs will never come back, but you're gonna have a lot closer to a balanced budget, actually.
