Iris Stalzer, the newly elected mayor of a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, was found with multiple stab wounds and is in critical condition, authorities said on Tuesday. Police said no arrests have been made so far.

Stalzer, 57, a Social Democrat and labor lawyer, won last month’s runoff election with 52.2% of the vote to become mayor of Herdecke. She was found in her apartment with life-threatening injuries. The incident comes amid a sharp rise in knife-related violence across the region.

Stalzer was found by her adopted 15-year-old son, who told police she had been attacked by several men outside her home before she dragged herself back into the apartment, according to Bild. Her 17-year-old adopted daughter was reportedly also in the apartment during the attack.

The outlet went on to report that the boy was taken from the scene in handcuffs and wearing an evidence-preserving overall. Investigators said this was to prevent evidence from being covered up.

“We fear for the life of the mayor-designate and hope for her full recovery,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz wrote on social media. He condemned the stabbing as “a terrible deed,” and insisted it be “swiftly investigated.”

Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects or motive. Police have only said that a major deployment is in progress in Herdecke and that further details will follow.

However, Der Spiegel has reported that there had allegedly been a case of domestic violence in the politician’s home earlier this year, when the adopted daughter supposedly used a knife against Stalzer.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, where Herdecke is located, police statistics have shown a sharp rise in knife-related violence. According to state data, overall knife offenses have increased by more than 50 percent since 2020, while public-space knife attacks have more than doubled over the past five years. Similar trends have been recorded across Germany, with police reporting steady nationwide increases in knife assaults and threats since 2022.

Apple’s Siri accused of eavesdropping on users – Politico

French prosecutors have opened a criminal probe into the US tech giant over allegations it recorded users without their consent

French prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Apple over allegations that its voice assistant Siri collected and analyzed user recordings without proper consent. The probe has been entrusted to France’s cybercrime agency, the Paris prosecutor’s office has told Politico and Reuters.

The investigation follows a complaint filed in February by a French NGO, based on testimony from whistleblower Thomas Le Bonniec, a former employee of an Apple subcontractor, who says he listened to thousands of Siri recordings as part of quality-control work in 2019.

Le Bonniec reportedly worked for Globe Technical Services in Ireland, where he reviewed and annotated audio clips to help improve Siri’s accuracy. He told Politico that the material sometimes revealed “intimate moments and confidential information,” which could be used to identify users.

The whistleblower has welcomed the probe, saying it should allow “urgent questions to be answered,” including how many recordings were made since Siri’s launch and where the data is stored.

An Apple representative in France told Politico that the company “has never used Siri data to create marketing profiles, has never made it available for advertising and has never sold it to anyone for any reason whatsoever.”

Apple also told Reuters that it has tightened Siri’s privacy controls since 2019, and again this year. The company said conversations with Siri “were never shared with marketers or sold to advertisers.”

In January, the company also stressed it would not keep “audio recordings of interactions with Siri, unless the user explicitly agrees.”

Apple has faced a similar class-action lawsuit in the US where its voice assistant has been accused of inadvertently recording private conversations, which were reviewed by third-party contractors as part of a quality-control.

Earlier this year, the tech giant agreed to a $95 million settlement, which a federal judge approved last month. The deal provides payouts of up to $20 per Siri-enabled device for users who owned Apple products between 2014 and 2024. Apple has also been ordered to delete older Siri recordings within six months.

FOIA Documents Reveal South Carolina Attorney General Reportedly FAILED to Prosecute Child Predators in Dorchester County — Nearly Every Case Dismissed or Dropped

According to internal records reviewed by Rep. Nancy Mace, from 2019 to 2022, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office (SCAG), under Wilson’s leadership, handled 385 warrants for child pornography cases in Dorchester County, yet only 29 resulted in convictions.

That’s a conviction rate of just 7.5%, with 356 cases dismissed outright and not a single one taken to trial.

“We obtained FOIA documents showing South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson failed to prosecute p*dophiles in Dorchester County,” Rep. Nancy Mace wrote on X.

“Nearly every single child p*dophile case under Wilson’s watch in Dorchester County has been dismissed or dropped. WE WANT ANSWERS. NOW,” she added.

Manufacturing Consent For America's Democratic Tyranny

Many people think that tyranny only comes under autocratic rule, but the worst of abuses can often come from a system that coerces people to justify their own oppression.

Throughout history, there have been tyrannies that have been imposed on the citizenry through non-democratic means. Monarchies have been one example. Another example have been communist regimes in the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, and Cuba. Still other examples have been U.S.-supported national-security-state coups in Iran, Guatemala, and Chile.

What many Americans fail to realize, however, is that it is entirely possible to have tyranny with a democratically elected system. The common mindset is that if people are free to democratically elect their officials, then that means automatically that people are living in a free society. The common refrain becomes, “If you don’t like what’s happening, be sure to vote in the next election.”

But the fact is that a democratically elected regime can be just as tyrannical as a regime that has taken power in contravention of democratic processes. It all depends on the powers that the regime is wielding and exercising and the control that the regime is imposing on the citizenry.

Central to a democratic tyranny is securing the approval of a vast majority of the citizenry. After all, the regime knows that if it alienates the citizenry, voters might decide to cut short the regime at the next election — assuming that the democratically elected tyrannical regime continues to permit elections.

Thus, what democratically elected regimes do is adopt measures that are designed to secure the approval of the citizenry to being subjected to tyranny at the hands of their own government. That’s how tyranny often comes with democratic systems — with the citizenry cheering and supporting the demise of their own freedom.

One way to do that is through fear. Keep the citizenry afraid all the time. The best way to do that is to come up with all sorts of scary official enemies. During the Cold War, for example, Americans were inculcated with the fear of communists and communism. The Russians are coming! Americans were more than willing to trade away their freedom in exchange for “safety” and “security” from the Reds, who were supposedly everywhere and coming to get Americans.

Today, U.S. officials have done a masterful job in creating a new array of scary official enemies to replace the Reds in the hearts and minds of the American people. There are the illegal immigrant “invaders” who are coming to get us. There are the Muslims who are hell-bent on fulfilling their centuries-old dream of an American caliphate with sharia law. There are also the foreign murderers, rapists, robbers, and burglars who are coming to do us harm. There are the terrorists and the drug dealers, who are now being conflated into “narco-terrorists.”

Moreover, many of the “narco-terrorists” are also part of the illegal-immigrant “invaders.” Imagine — all three official scary enemies — drug dealers, terrorists, and invaders — combined into one official very scary official enemy!

Leading Conservative MP Robert Jenrick has vowed to clean house in the judiciary after his team identified dozens of British immigration judges who have ties to open borders groups.

The common occurrence of British judges blocking government deportations of illegal and foreign criminals is a result of “pro-migration bias” on behalf of “activist” judges, de-facto Tory leader Robert Jenrick said on Tuesday as he claimed to have proof that at least 35 immigration judges have previously provided legal advice or volunteer work for open borders groups.

According to the shadow justice secretary, the judges have been connected to groups like the Asylum Support Appeals Project (ASAP) and the Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID), which previously campaigned against the Conservative-era scheme to send illegal boat migrants to asylum centres in Rwanda rather than allowing them to remain in Britain.

Jenrick said that the judges represented a “hidden network” of “activist judges subverting the independence of the judiciary” and vowed that if brought back to power, the Conservatives would pass legislation that would allow for the automatic firing of judges caught campaigning for open borders groups and to return the power of appointing judges to the government through the Lord Chancellor.

The de-factor Tory leader also said that he had identified and reported 11 judges to the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) regulator for potential breaches of social media guidelines by posting “activist” content online.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Jenrick said: “While we may have some of the best lawyers, barristers and judges in the world, it is now beyond any doubt that a deep rot has infected parts of our judiciary.”

“This will come as little surprise to the public, who have been subjected to absurd immigration judgments that work against their interests and risk their safety. We will only restore confidence in the independence of the judiciary through wholesale changes to the way it operates.”

Their letter states: “The men and women of Virginia FOP unequivocally condemn these violent text messages sent by you about a political opponent and his family.” When law enforcement turns against a candidate for the state’s top law enforcement position, the campaign is over.

Even the mainstream media can’t defend this. MSNBC’s Morning Joe panel universally condemned Jones, with one host saying “he probably should be forced to withdraw from the race.” Another panelist stated bluntly: “This guy should do everyone a favor and step out.” When you’ve lost MSNBC as a Democrat, you’ve lost everything.

The US Spent Over $31 Billion Aiding Israel in the Past Two Years

The US has sent Israel over $21 billion in military aid and spent around $10 billion on wars defending Israel since October 7, 2023.

The Cost of War Project at Brown University calculated that total US military support to Israel over the past two years has cost US taxpayers over $30 billion. Israel has received over $21 billion in military aid from the US and Washington has bombed Iran and Yemen for Tel Aviv.

According to the study, the US has provided Israel with tens of thousands of bombs and other weaponry following the Hamas attack in southern Israel two years ago. The American arms have fueled Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

The mass killing in Gaza with US weapons has pushed a growing number of Americans to oppose military aid and weapon sales to Israel. However, the growing opposition to the special relationship Washington has with Tel Aviv did not lead President Joe Biden or Donald Trump to curtail the flow of arms to Israel.

Additionally, Israel’s aggression in the Middle East has drawn the US into other wars. Both Biden and Trump engaged in large-scale bombing operations in Yemen in an effort to force Ansar Allah to end its blockade of the Red Sea and stop attacking Israel.

Ansar Allah enacted the policy in support of Gaza, and says the blockade and attack will end once Israel halts its genocidal onslaught in the Strip. While the bombing cost the US billions of dollars, it failed to force Ansar Allah to end the blockade.

President Trump also joined Tel Aviv’s aggressive war against Iran and intercepted missiles targeting Israel. Overall, the US has spent between $10 and $13 billion helping Israel wage wars across the Middle East over the past two years.

The author of the Cost of War study, William Hartung, notes that it only calculates the weapons that have been delivered to Israel and does not include weapons that the US has promised to deliver to Israel in the future.

Last month, the White House approved a $6 billion arms sale to Israel that will be paid for with US military aid. Washington has promised to provide Israel with at least $3.8 billion in annual military assistance. After Israel started the onslaught in Gaza, the US approved an additional, $14 billion in military aid for Israel.

Israel To Spend Up To $4.1 Million on Propaganda Campaign Targeting American Christians

The campaign will involve ads that spread a 'pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian' message and sending a mobile 'October 7 experience' to church parking lots

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is planning to spend up to $4.1 million for a propaganda campaign that will target American evangelical Christians, a project that’s being sold as the “largest Christian Church Geofencing Campaign in US history.”

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported on a federal filing under the Foreign Agents Registration Act that shows the Israeli ministry has hired a newly formed US-based firm, Show Faith by Works LLC, which will target churchgoers with digital ads that are explicitly “pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian.”

The campaign will also involve creating a mobile “October 7 experience” that will visit Christian colleges, churches, and events. The document says the experience will involve a custom-built trailer designed by “Hollywood experts,” virtual reality headsets, set pieces, and full-length TVs for an “interactive experience.”

The filing lists hundreds of churches in California, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona that will be targeted by the information campaign. According to an invoice, Show Faith by Works expects to receive $3.25 million from the Israeli Foreign Ministry over a five-month period and includes a potential additional $835,000 for equipment and expansion of the campaign.

The document, which was filed on September 27, says one of the activities of the campaign will be to “combat low American Evangelical Christian approval of the Nation of Israel.”

One of the goals of the campaign is to use “a combination of personal and professional outreach to the Christian Community, combined with digital targeting and social media outreach to increase positive associations with the Nation of Israel while linking the Palestinian population with extremist factions.”

The propaganda campaign targeting American Christians is part of Israel’s PR blitz in response to its significant loss of support among Americans due to its genocidal war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Another recent FARA filing revealed that Israel is paying influencers around $7,000 per pro-Israel post on social media.
