A demonstration near the Boston Common ended with four injured Boston police officers and 13 arrests Tuesday evening, the city's police department confirmed.

Just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said protesters rallying for what appeared to be a pro-Palestinian cause began moving from the Boston Common toward Tremont and Winter streets.

According to Boston police, protestors kicked a marked cruiser, assaulted officers and blocked traffic, all while setting off devices that emitted a red smoke into the air.

Thirteen people, 8 men and five women, were arrested in the aftermath.

Four police officers were injured in the chaos, with two being sent to nearby hospitals.
