Ecuadorian president survives ‘assassination attempt’ – minister (VIDEOS)

The incident happened amid protests against Daniel Noboa’s reforms which critics claim harm the country’s indigenous community

Five people have been detained following an alleged assassination attempt on Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, Energy Minister Ines Manzano announced on Tuesday. Noboa has faced protests over reforms which critics claim harm the country’s indigenous people.

The incident occurred when Noboa’s car was surrounded by around 500 protesters as he arrived in the south-central province of Canar – home to a large indigenous community – to unveil new infrastructure projects on water treatment and sewage. Footage released by the presidency and videos posted online show protesters hurling stones at the convoy, cracking the windows.

Manzano told reporters that Noboa’s car was badly damaged and police later found bullet marks on the exterior. The president was unharmed, but the minister said she has filed an official report of an “assassination attempt.” Five suspects have been detained in connection with the attack.

The president’s office later vowed accountability.

“Obeying orders to radicalize, they attacked a presidential motorcade carrying civilians. They attempted to forcibly prevent the delivery of a project intended to improve the lives of the community,” it said on X, adding that those arrested would be prosecuted for terrorism and attempted murder.

It was not the first attack on Noboa’s convoy. Last month, around 350 protesters stormed a motorcade carrying the president during demonstrations in Imbabura province.

The unrest follows Noboa’s economic and security reforms aimed at stabilizing Ecuador and curbing drug trafficking. His government recently ended a decades-old fuel subsidy, saying the move would cut spending and redirect funds to social programs. Critics, however, argued that the measure hurts low-income and indigenous families.

The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), the country’s main indigenous organization, launched a strike over the subsidy cut and led weeks of protests, blocking roads and clashing with police. The authorities claim that “terrorist groups” infiltrated the demonstrations, prompting a state of emergency in ten provinces over “serious internal unrest” last weekend.

CONAIE acknowledged links to the convoy incident, writing on X that “five of us have been arbitrarily detained.” The group denied any assassination plot, however, instead accusing the government of “brutal police and military action” against demonstrators.

Pentagon approves next-gen US Navy fighter jet – Reuters

The F/A-XX program had been stalled through spring and summer by a debate between the Department of War and Congress on funding

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has decided what the US Navy’s next-generation fighter jet will be after months of delays. The Pentagon is expected to choose the company to design and produce the F/A-XX stealth aircraft as soon as this week, Reuters reports, citing a US official and other informed sources.

The F/A-XX, which is planned to feature advanced stealth capabilities, improved range, and the ability to integrate with drones and carrier based air defenses, is seen as central in efforts to counter China, the agency said in an article on Tuesday.

The new carrier-based jet will replace the Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fleet, which has been around since the 1990s, it added.

Hegseth made the decision to stick with the F/A-XX last Friday, according to the sources.

The winner of the competition for the multibillion-dollar project between Boeing and Northrop Grumman could be named within days, they said, adding that delays are possible.

The F/A-XX program had been stalled through spring and summer by a funding dispute between the Department of War and Congress.

The Pentagon was looking to keep it on “minimal development funding,” as some officials expressed concerns about engineering and supply chain capacity, while lawmakers and the Navy pushed for the project to be accelerated, according to Reuters.

Eventually, Congress put $750 billion to speed up the F/A-XX development into US President Donald Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, which was signed into law in early July. It earmarked an additional $1.4 billion for the project in fiscal year 2026.

The first serial F/A-XXs are expected to enter service in the 2030s. The quantity of the jets to be produced, their value, and the exact timelines of the program remain classified, the agency said.

China is reportedly rapidly developing at least two sixth-generation stealth fighter jets, with several images of their prototypes performing flight tests appearing on social media over the past year. One of them is believed to be the J-36, a large aircraft with a tailless design and a rare three-engine setup. The other, described as the J-50, is reportedly a smaller jet with V-shaped wings.

Ukrainian official claims Tomahawks can ‘pressure’ Russia

The Uscould gradually lift restrictions(LIAR) on using the long-range missiles, a senior official in Kiev has told the Telegraph

Ukraine could use US Tomahawk missiles to launch increasingly escalatory strikes on targets inside Russia in order to “pressure” Moscow to agree to a peace deal, an official in Kiev has claimed to The Telegraph.

Washington first signaled last month that it was considering supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.

The weapons, which cost about $1.3 million each and have a range of 2,500km (1,550 miles), could reach targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow.President Donald Trump said on Monday that he had “sort of made a decision” on the matter, but added that “I’m not looking to see escalation.”

Egor Cherniev, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian parliament’s national security, defense, and intelligence committee, suggested that the missiles could be deployed in phases, with one scenario being that they would not be fired at all, or only used against a narrow range of targets. (this proves they cannot be trusted with any of them.)

“First they will give us rockets, but a few pieces, or a couple of dozen, but they will not allow us to shoot them at once and we will see the Kremlin’s reaction,” he said, as quoted by The Telegraph.

If Russia does not respond, he added, “the envelope increases, allowing strikes on the Russian border.” Eventually, he suggested, in order to push Moscow towards talks, all restrictions might be lifted “except perhaps strikes on the Kremlin and directly on [Russian President Vladimir] Putin.”

“This whole epic could take at least a few months. But it’s already real pressure,” Cherniev argued.

Putin warned last week that sending Tomahawks to Ukraine would “lead to the destruction of [Russia-US] relations, or at least the positive tendencies that have appeared in these relations.”

The Russian leader has also pointed out that Ukrainian forces would be unable to operate the system without “direct participation of American military personnel,” adding that the deliveries would not alter “the balance of power on the battlefield.”

Putin recalled previous shipments of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, which he said at first “caused some damage, but in the end, Russia’s air defense systems adapted.”

Supreme Court Could Kill Voting Rights Act’s Affirmative-Action Gerrymandering, Give GOP 19 More Seats

Sean Moran 8 Oct 2025 (Most important case before the SC)

A report released on Wednesday ==found that Republicans could garner 19 additional congressional districts if the Supreme Court were to void part of a civil rights-era law]].

The Supreme Court will rehear Louisiana v. Callais, a case thatcould result in the elimination of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, a provision that bars “racial gerrymandering when it dilutes minority voting power,” according to Politico.

Newsweek explains it like this:

Section 2 of the VRA prohibits any voting practice or districting plan that results in racial or language-minority voters having less opportunity than others to participate in the political process and elect candidates of their choice.

The dispute, consolidated withRobinson v. Callais, stems from Louisiana’s 2022 redistricting and raises fundamental questions about how states balance the protection of minority voters with constitutional limits on race-based decision-making.

At the center is Louisiana’s congressional map known as Senate Bill 8, adopted after a federal court ordered creation of a second majority-Black district to remedy “vote dilution” under Section 2.That court later struck SB8 down, concluding it amounted to a racial gerrymander that “violates the Equal Protection Clause” of the Fourteenth Amendment.

A report from Fair Fight Action and Black Voters Matter Fund, two Democrat voting rights groups, said that a victory at the nation’s highest court guarantee a Republican majority.

Politico wrote:

While a ruling in time for next year’s midterms is unlikely, the organizations behind the report said that it’s not out of the question.Taken together, the groups identified 27 total seats that Republicans could redistrict in their favor ahead of the midterms — 19 of which stem from Section 2 being overturned.

Doing so would “clear the path for a one-party system where power serves the powerful and silences the people,” Black Voters Matter Fund co-founder LaTosha Brown said in a statement.

If Section 2 were scrapped, the groupsbelieve that up 30 percent of the Congressional Black Caucus and 11 percent of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus could lose their seats from redistricting.

A favorable result for Republicans in the Supreme Court could lead to massive changes in redistricting across Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida would likely retain at least one Democrat member.

Fair Fight Action CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo said in a statementthat voiding Section 2 would do “permanent” damage.

“The only way to stop it is to play offense — aggressively redraw maps wherever possible, focus relentlessly on taking back Congress, and be ready to use that power to pass real pro-democracy legislation and hold this corrupted Court accountable,” she said.

Democrat Jon Ossoff Hires Open Borders Aide Ahead of Shutdown to Give Illegal Aliens Health Care

Sean Moran 8 Oct 2025

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) hired an open borders aide as his senior counsel ahead of his vote to shut down the government as Democrats continue fighting to give illegal aliens health care.

Ossoff hired a pro open borders leftist, Katie Shepherd as his senior counsel ahead of the pivotal vote wherein Democrats voted to shut down the government in late September.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and other Democrats have admitted the Democrats shut down the government in part to make it easier for illegal aliens to secure taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits.

Shepherd, like Ossoff, has a history of opposing efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.Ossoff’s now-senior counsel used to work at the American Immigration Council, a pro-open borders group.

Before joining Ossoff’s congressional office,Shepherd worked at the Biden Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, which investigates alleged complaints of abuse in immigrant detention.

The Trump administration in July removed Shepard as part of its efforts to cut down on waste, fraud, and abuse.

In 2021, Shepherd argued that community organizations funded by the federal government would be better providers of health care.

In 2020, Shepherd then made the case for “ending immigration detention,” writing:

Immigration detention was dangerous before President Trump took office four years ago. His policies—coupled with a deadly global pandemic—have only made the situation more dire.

She then called for “community-based case management” instead of ICE detention:

There is a better, safer, less costly alternative. Congressional leaders should invest more in community-based case management services—and less in ICE detention.

When people are not in detention, they are better able to find legal counsel, collect evidence to support their immigration case, and receive emotional and financial support from their family. Not-for-profit community service providers and civil organizations around the country are already providing legal, medical, housing, and transportation services to immigrants.

Americans for Immigrant Justice in July hailed Shepherd as an advocate for “noncitizens in ICE and CBP custody.”

Shepherd wrote in 2021 that the Biden administration is “expected to make strong efforts to reverse many of the harsh changes made to the asylum system. Some policies may be rolled back on Day One by the stroke of a pen, but others may take much longer, including some policies tied up in the regulatory process.”

Exclusive – Poll: Stefanik Surges in New York After Kathy Hochul Endorses Mamdani

1Bradley Jaye 8 Oct 2025

House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is nipping at Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D-NY) heels after the embattled governor endorsed Democrat nominee Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor.

The statewide poll obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, conducted on behalf of E-PAC, Stefanik’s Leadership PAC, shows Kathy Hochul in a “deeply vulnerable position” with Stefanik within five points of Hochul heading into the 2026 election. Among the 1,250 likely voters surveyed, Hochul leads only 48% to 43%.

Once voters contacted by the polls are aware of their positions:Stefanik leads Hochul by 1 point, 46.4% to Hochul’s 45.9%.

“The data is clear that Kathy Hochul, the worst Governor in America, is a deeply embattled and historically unpopular failed Governor who is struggling to even gain support from her own party,” Stefanik said in a statement. “It is now crystal clear why Kathy Hochul bent the knee to the Communist Antisemite running for Mayor of New York City because she desperately needed to shore up her own party.”

Hochul’s endorsement of the radical Mamdani shocked many political prognosticators, including President Donald Trump.

“Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has Endorsed the ‘Liddle’ Communist, Zohran Mamdani, running for Mayor of New York. This is a rather shocking development, and a very bad one for New York City,” he posted on Truth Social. “How can such a thing happen? Washington will be watching this situation very closely. No reason to be sending good money after bad!”

Hochul’s stunt does not appear to be working. Mamdani did not endorse the unpopular Hochul after she endorsed him. The polarizing Mamdani has little reason to quickly endorse Hochul. Her popularity since her election has plummeted as her stewardship of the state has earned little praise, including from her own party.

“Kathy Hochul has destroyed New York State creating an affordability crisis with the highest taxes in the nation, and the highest energy, utility, rent, and grocery bills,” Stefanik said in her statement. “Kathy Hochul’s single-party Democrat rule affordability crisis, coupled with the crime crisis from failed bail reform, combined with the sanctuary state policies, putting criminals and illegals first and New Yorkers last, is a political disaster for Hochul.”

Alex deGrasse, Team Elise Executive Director, called the poll “devastating for the Worst Governor in America,” adding that “Hochul’s dismal record of failure and bending the knee to Commie Mamdani is causing her already weak support to crater across New York.”

“Voters want change and a Governor who will fight for them, which is why they will resoundingly reject Kathy Hochul for new leadership in Elise Stefanik if she decides to run for Governor,” he said.

Stefanik’s support comes despiteher not yet entering the race.“What is truly remarkable about this poll is that this is before Elise has even formally announced her campaign,” deGrasse said. “There is a reason why Kathy is running scared.”

Chicago Illegal Alien Operation Commander Responds to Bounty Threat on His Life

BOB PRICE 8 Oct 2025

The commander of the Department of Homeland Security’s illegal alien operations in Los Angeles and Chicago reacted to the arrest of the man who allegedly offered a bounty for his kidnapping or murder. He stated that violent gangs are “feeling way to comfortable” in sanctuary cities like Chicago when they believe they can threaten to kidnap and kill law enforcement officers.

“When violent gangs can plot to kidnap and kill law enforcement officers in a U.S. city like Chicago, that means they are feeling way too comfortable,” Border Patrol Commander Op At Large Gregory Bovino wrote in a post on social media. “Time to make them feel uncomfortable.

Bovino’s comments followed the arrest reported by Breitbart News’ John Binder of alleged Latin Kings gang member Juan Espinoza Martinez, who is accused of posting a bounty for the kidnapping or death of Chief Bovino.

In an Immigration and Customs Enforcement press release, officials reported:

HSI Chicago received a screenshot of a Snapchat conversation from a user named “Juan” appearing to place a $2,000 bounty for information “cuando lo agarren,” which translates to “when they catch him,” and a $10,000 reward “if you take him down.” A third response of “LK….on him” indicates the involvement of the Latin Kings. [Emphasis added]

During aninterview on Fox News’ Sean Hannity show, Bovino reacted to the threat, saying, “It’s a war zone out there… That $2,000 to kidnap, $10,000 to kill senior Border Patrol officials and senior ICE officials here in Chicago. Now, Sean, what happens between the kidnapping and the killing portion? That’s something out of a third-world country. Is this America?”

On America Reports, a visibly shaken Bovino said, “This is something out of a third-world country.”“Is this America?” the chief asked.

Bovino criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s efforts to aid the illegal alien population and his language that is raising the danger level for law enforcement officers attempting to round up the “worst-of-the-worst” criminal aliens. He told Fox News thatPritzker should “get with the program.”

“We’re not talking about dreamers here,” the chief explained. “We’re talking about violent offenders, cartel affiliates, and gang enforcers who feel comfortable enough to put a price on our heads.”

The threats against Bovino and other federal law enforcement officials have not deterred the efforts to round up the criminal aliens plaguing our major Democrat-run cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez interviewed Bovino after going onto the streets of Chicago with Operation Midway Blitz teams.

“We’re going to carry out that mission,” Bovino told CNN in Chicago on Tuesday. “And that’s paramount, or else we shouldn’t be here. We’re going to carry that mission out.”

Regarding the increasing attacks on agents and officers enforcing the law in Chicago and other cities, Bovino warned that if, “someone steps in the way, then … that may not work out well for them, and if we need to effect an arrest of a US citizen or anyone else, then we’ll do that.”

Rep. Bobby Scott Freaks Out After Trump Admin Auto-Emails Reportedly Blame Shutdown On Democrats

Derek VanBuskirk October 08, 20252:16 PM ET

Democratic Virginia Rep. Bobby Scott accused Trump administration officials of violating federal law Wednesday by setting automatic email replies that blamed the government shutdown on Democrats.

Scott, the top Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee, urged Republicans to hold a hearing on whether the messages breach the Hatch Act, which bars political activity by federal employees. He said the out-of-office emails are “in apparent violation of the Hatch Act and other statutes” and called for “hearings on these acts as soon as possible” in a letter obtained by ABC News.

Scott’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s request for clarification on how the emails might constitute a Hatch Act violation.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) had encouraged employees at the Departments of Labor, Justice and Education to set automatic replies blaming “Democrat senators” for the shutdown, the outlet reported.Several furloughed Education Department staffers told the outlet their out-of-office messages were automatically configured to include the partisan language.

When ABC News pressed for comment, an agency spokesperson responded, “Where’s the lie?”

“The email reminds those who reach out toDepartment of Education employees that we cannot respond because Senate Democrats are refusing to vote for a clean CR and fund the government,” the spokesperson told the outlet.

Similar notices appeared across multiple federal websites after the Senate voted failed last week to approve a continuing resolution.Agencies including Health and Human Services and the State Department posted shutdown messages explicitly blaming Democrats for the lapse in funding.

One notice on the Department of Agriculture’s website read: “Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.”

Enacted in 1939, the Hatch Act bars most federal employees from engaging in partisan political activity while on duty or using government resources for political messaging. Violations can trigger discipline ranging from suspension to removal from federal service.

The Caller reached out to the House Oversight Committee, which oversees federal ethics enforcement, to ask whether it plans to act on Scott’s request for a hearing. The committee did not respond by publication.

ROOKE: Trump Scores Major Optics Win In Schumer Shutdown Battle

Mary Rooke October 08, 2025

President Donald Trump has found a way to fund federal programs, despite Senate Democrats — led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer — keeping the government shut down.

On Monday, the Trump administration funded the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) during what Republicans have rightly dubbed the “Schumer Shutdown,”by redirecting revenue generated from Trump’s tariffs on imported goods.

The White House announced the move as atemporary stopgap measure to prevent immediate disruptions to the nearly 7 million low-income pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children up to age five, who rely on the program for nutritional assistance, breastfeeding support, and other related services.

While Trump hasn’t been able to secure funding for essential federal employees, such as U.S. military members, the Secret Service, and air traffic controllers, they haven’t missed a paycheck yet. However, the deadline for that, Oct. 15, is coming up quickly. And, yes, most of these employees will receive back pay for any missed pay periods, but that doesn’t mean that they’ll be able to survive without some loan assistance.

Democrats have a decision to make about whether their radical left policies are worth continuing the government shutdown or if they’ll do the right thing and vote for the House-passed continuing resolution (CR). Recent polling indicates they are losing the narrative battle on this issue. Almost half (40 percent) of Democrats think their party’s positions are not worth shutting down the government, leaving essential workers and programs unfunded, according to CBS News. Only 28 percent agree with Senate Democrats in holding the funding hostage.

It begs the question of why Democrats believe it’s politically expedient to keep this fight going when a majority of their base wants them to capitulate to Republicans. Especially taking into account that Democrats essentially lost the 2024 election because elected members chose to embrace the radical left wing of their party, sending many independents who would have otherwise voted blue into the ballot box to support Republicans. How are Democrats expecting to bring these voters back if they are choosing to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants over paying U.S. military members and funding programs like WIC?

And while Republicans are fighting a similar internal struggle, with a majority of voters begging for the shutdown to end, the optics that Trump has been able to create by using tariff revenue to fund WIC is a masterclass in garnering political capital. Here, he addresses an issue (tariffs) that, while successful, hasn’t made a significant difference in solving kitchen-table issues and directly links it to being able to keep mothers and infants fed.

Trump has taken away a major weapon in the Democrats’ political arsenal by serving the most vulnerable in our country despite the Democrat led shutdown. If Republicans were smart, they’d bring these mothers on media hits with them to explain what this funding means to their families, similar to how Trump gave a mic to mothers who lost children to violent illegal immigrants. Then, to drive home the narrative, remind the American people that while our military members are faithfully serving overseas, their wives with small children are suffering due to Democrats refusing to fund the government.

Trump, more than any politician in our lifetime, understands the importance of controlling the optics in winning the narrative war. His move to fund WIC with tariff revenue killed two birds with one stone. It made Democrats politically vulnerable on a critical issue, while also protecting vulnerable mothers and their children.
