An incursion of Ukrainian drones was the root cause of a deadly 2024 crash of a Russia-bound Azerbaijan Airlines plane, President Vladimir Putin has said during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

Speaking ahead of bilateral talks hosted by Tajikistan, Putin said theAZAL flight 8243 was damaged “after Russian air defenses responded to an incursion of three Ukrainian drones.”

“Russian defenses fired two missiles, which did not hit the plane directly, but exploded several meters away,” Putin said.The airliner “most likely was hit by debris rather than the submunitions” of a Russian interceptor.

The incident took place in December 2024 near the Russian city of Grozny. The crew of the Embraer 190 passenger aircraft tried to divert the flight, but it ultimately crash-landed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, killing 38 people and injuring 29 others.

Hungary accuses Polish PM of ‘defending terrorists’

Donald Tusk has recently justified the Nord Stream sabotage, arguing the project should never have been built

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Wednesday accused Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk of “defending terrorists,” over comments about the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Tusk had claimed the day before in a post on X that“the problem with North Stream 2 is not that it was blown up. The problem is that it was built.”

The Nord Stream pipelines, which carried Russian natural gas to Germany along the Baltic Sea floor, were blown up soon after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

Szijjarto condemned the Polish prime ministers post in a reply, asking what else the Polish prime minister could find “forgivable or even praiseworthy.”

“According to Donald Tusk, blowing up a gas pipeline is acceptable,” he wrote.

“That’s shocking… One thing is clear: we don’t want a Europe where prime ministers defend terrorists,” he added.

Tusk also argued on Tuesdaythat it is not in Poland’s interest to hand over a Ukrainian man German investigators believe was involved in the Nord Stream sabotage.

While Berlin’s prosecutors have attributed the sabotage to a small group of Ukrainian nationals, Moscow has dismissed the version of events as “ridiculous.” Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested that the US likely carried out the operation.

The EU has called for a total cut of Russian energy by 2027, but some bloc members like Slovakia and Hungary rely on Russian crude delivered via the Soviet-era Druzhba oil pipeline.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy networks linked to the pipeline in recent months have exacerbated tensions between Kiev and Budapest. Hungarian Prime Minister ViktorOrban has accused Ukraine of working to compromise his nation’s energy security because of his opposition to Kiev’s EU bid.

Hamas has agreed during talks in Egypt that it will not hold ceremonies during the handover of hostages to Israel, an Arab diplomat and a second source familiar tell The Times of Israel.

The ceremonies during the previous hostage deal at the beginning of the year, which saw emaciated hostages paraded before a crowd alongside anti-Israel slogans, infuriated both Israel and the US.

US anti-Israel activists vow to keep up ‘the struggle’ after news of ceasefire deal

Anti-Israel protest groups in the US herald the ceasefire deal announced earlier todaywith calls to keep up pressure on Israel.

The Palestinian Youth Movementannounces protests in New York City and other locations for tonight, saying, “Gaza will rise, the struggle never dies.”

The group vows to “recommit to the long fight ahead for a global arms embargo, the release of all our prisoners, and full liberation and return.”

The anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace appears to support a ceasefire= but says the plan that was approved “seeks to create a new Middle East in which Israeli apartheid and genocide are normalized.”

“Justice can only begin once Israeli impunity is challenged,” the group says.

Other statements are more ambiguous and some groups have not commented.

“Freedom is only born in the womb of suffering,” National Students for Justice in Palestine says.

The hardline activist group Within Our Lifetime says, “Every free person must feel a debt upon their shoulders toward Gaza and its people, a debt that can only be discharged by the complete removal and dissolution of this occupation.”

The news of the ceasefire comes after the activist groups held widespread rallies this week celebrating the second anniversary of the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel.

After Goldman observed that the handover of the hostages taken by Hamas will be “very emotional for everybody,” Phillip asked: “Why do you think this was not doable when President Biden was in office?”

“I think the biggest problem that President Biden had is there was no pressure from Qatar, from Turkey, from Egypt. They were actually facilitating in many ways what was going on. And that is really ultimately how it all came together,” replied Goldman.

“So I mean, but I think by saying that, it’s sort of an acknowledgement Trump has changed that dynamic. I mean, he’s clearly changed that,” pointed out Phillip.

“Yeah, no, I think that-, I don’t know how he-, and I think there’s a lot that remains to learn about what prompted that change, but I do agree. Yes, somehow, some way that changed,” admitted Goldman. “What also changed is that there was a humanitarian aid blockade under Trump’s administration, which Biden never allowed to happen, and that really set Israel back significantly.”

“I think that we’re looking at the difference between appeasement versus leadership,” chimed in conservative radio host Phil Williams.“At this point right now, what we got is the Trump administration is truly leading on the world stage, and is and is not afraid to say, we insist on this as opposed to appeasing for this. And that’s a vast difference, and the Middle East responds well to that.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of “CNN NewsNight,”Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) stated that “many” ICE agents are “violent” and people “keep talking about a 1000% upswing and all this stuff, I haven’t seen examples of that.” And questioned whether agents are being doxed.

While discussing immigration enforcement saying that people looking nervous around agents is a factor used to determine suspicion, Goldman said, “Well, you have to add in the fact that many of these ICE agents are masked, they’re in plainclothes, they’re unidentified, and they’re violent. So, yes, people are going to be scared, because you have these unidentified, masked agents who are screaming and violent and causing — using excessive force a lot. ”

Later in the segment, podcast hostPhil Williams stated that “there are apps that are being created that are — the sole purpose is to dox ICE agents. And there are people showing up at their houses and there are families being threatened.”

Host Abby Phillip responded that this is “terrible.”

Goldman then cut in to say, “Do you know this for a fact?Because I keep hearing this. I have not seen ICE — they keep talking about a 1000% upswing and all this stuff, I haven’t seen examples of that.”

Williams then cut in to point out the attacks at Texas ICE facilities, andGoldman stated that those were wrong.

Phillip then cut in to say there have been attacks on ICE facilities and then asked about the justification for stops by immigration enforcement.

Chicago Democrat Alderman Says Anti-ICE Chaos Proves Need for National Guard Deployment

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, a Democrat, says rhetoric from the Illinois governor and the Chicago mayor are pushing the city and country to a dangerous place. He added that the anti-ICE radicals are showing why the deployment of National Guard Soldiers is necessary.

“The politics of this city and of hyper progressive liberalism is bringing us closer to the brink with an escalation that I don’t think any of us truly wants to see,”Alderman Lopez said in a New York Post interview. “The governor, the mayor, with a wink and a nod, told everyone to protest peacefully. And we’ve seen the exact opposite unfold.”

He said the mayor and governor are playing “a game of chicken with other people’s lives.”

Lopez told the Post that actions like the Chicago Police Department ordering officers not to answer federal agents’ calls for assistance, a claim the city denies, caused the decision by President Donald Trump to deploy National Guard soldiers to the Windy City, calling it a “fore-drawn conclusion.”

“If we’re not going to allow law enforcement to protect [ICE] and keep the peace with our residents, then the president of the United States most definitely is going to take that action,” the south-side alderman told the Post.“We cannot have our our citizenry thinking that they can take up arms against the federal government and suffer no consequences.”

He emphasized that the city needs a common-sense approach to taking its worst criminals into custody. He added that the city should coordinate with the federal government to “surgically” remove them.

“We are making the case as to why we need the National Guard now more than ever, with people choosing to try to attack federal law enforcement agents here in the city of Chicago,”Lopez stated.

Members of the Texas National Guard were federalized by President Trump in an agreement with Governor Greg Abbott and deployed to Chicago on Tuesday, Breitbart Texas reported. “No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard. They defend our country with pride,” the Texas governor stated. He reminded the public that Texas has thousands of National Guard soldiers and airmen assisting with securing the Texas-Mexico border.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called the deployment “illegal, unconstitutional.” Adding, “It’s dangerous, it’s wrong.”

Currently, the mission scope for the Texas National Guard in Chicago remains unclear.However, with the increasing violence against Border Patrol and ICE agents and officers, the need for extra security is clear.

CA Leadership: Newsom Spends $250 Million on Gerrymandering, then Blames Trump for Lack of Fire Aid Money

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) whined Wednesday that President Donald Trump has ignored his request for $40 billion in fire aid —after launching a $250 million special election to strip Republican House seats.

The special election for “Proposition 50” will have an estimated cost of $250 million to the state— and will pull in at least that much in private donations on both sides of the issue, while fire victims wait for help.

Newsom has also spent every month of the Trump administration opposing every Trump policy, spending millions to pick fights with Trump in court, and trolling the president viciously, using incendiary rhetoric.

The Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, both of which began on January 7, destroyed tens of thousands of structures and left many residents displaced. The Palisades Fire in particular began on state land, burning where an alleged arsonist had started a fire six days before, but where state authorities failed to pre-deploy firefighting resources ahead of the extreme high winds that were expected on the day of the massive blaze.

Critics of the governor have pointed out that his attitude toward Trump made it unlikely that California would receive any help beyond what it had already received from the Biden administration in its last days.

One Palisades resident told Breitbart News:“Gavin Newsom should stop running for President of the country and make an attempt to take care of his state. His transparent posturing is infuriating as thousands of us struggle to navigate through our respective rubble and upended lives.”

Newsom was eager in 2020to demonstrate how cooperative he could be with the Trump administration, during the worst days of the coronavirus pandemic, when the state needed medical supplies. But the governor, now eyeing a presidential run in 2028,decided that he could spend 2025 attacking Trump.

A source confirmed to Breitbart Newsthat Newsom’s approach had turned the administration against him.

Breitbart Newsquestioned the governor about his attitude early in the year, asking him whether signing $50 million in spending to fight Trump’s policies in court was consistent with asking Trump for $40 billion.

Newsom claimed that the lawsuits were necessary to defend state programs. But many of the lawsuits he hasfiled against the Trump administration target federal policies that have nothing to do with the state itself.

Newsom later appeared to believe that he would receive the $40 billion from the Republican Congress, in spite of his behavior and his rhetoric.

With that in mind, perhaps, he embarked on a $250 million special election to gerrymander California’s congressional districts to remove Republican seats— while residents affected by the fires remain displaced, with many struggling to find the money to rebuild their homes.

Newsom has tried to blame Trump for wildfires in California — all while expecting that Congress would still pass, and Trump would sign, a massive $40 billion grant for the state to spend — and with no oversight.

In the past few months, the governor also used violent rhetoric against Trump and his party, saying he would “punch” Republicans “in the mouth.”He also turned his official press office account on X into a parody of Trump, and called the president and his staff “fascists,” even after the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk last month by a crazed gunman who carved “anti-fascist” messages into his bullet casings.

Pritzker ‘Will Not Back Down,’ Johnson Plays Race Card After Trump Says They Should be Jailed for ICE Obstruction in Chicago(Because he’s too fat to move or see what is behind him.)

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, both radical Democrats, have responded to President Donald Trump’s suggestion that they should be arrested for obstructing the legal actions of federal law enforcement.

“I will not back down,” Pritzker wrote in a bellicose post on X immediately after the president posted his comment. Johnson threw the race card saying that Trump loves arresting black men.

On Wednesday morning, the president took to his Truth Social account and railed at Pritzker and Johnson for their constant attempts to obstruct, threaten, and attack federal law enforcement agents working to clean up the Windy City.

“Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also!”Trump posted on Truth Social.

Both Illinois Democrats quickly responded to the president’s criticism.

Pritzker called Trump an “authoritarian” and exclaimed that he “would not back down” from his rabid support of criminal illegal migrants.

“I will not back down,” he said, after the president’s comment.

“Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power,” he wrote. “What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?”

For his part, Mayor Johnson threw the race card at Trump.

“This is not the first time Trump has tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested,” Johnson said. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Johnson also went on the attack Wednesday during an appearance on CNN, calling Trump “unstable” and “unhinged.”

“Well, you know, first of all, this president is unstable, unhinged, a double minded individual that, quite frankly, is a threat to our democracy,” he said.

He went on, saying, “And it’s certainly not the first time that Donald Trump has called for the arresting of a black man unjustly. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to stay firm as the mayor of this amazing city, which was voted nine years in a row the best big city in America. And we’re going to defend all of Chicago.”

Trump’s criticism was sparked when news broke that Chicago officials had instructed the Chicago Police Department to refuse to give emergency aid to federal law enforcement after ICE agents issued a radio call for help when violent pro-migrant protesters besieged their position on Sunday.

Then, on Monday, Johnson claimed to have created “ICE-free zones,” and that his newly issued executive orders have the power to prevent ICE agents from gathering on city-owned properties to stage raids or hold suspects.

“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas,” Trump said at the time. “When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE.”

The day before, Trump issued an ultimatum to Hamas, in which he gave them 48 hours to give an answer on the proposed peace deal.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has completely“lost his sense of reality” if he thinks he can decide whether his country will be admitted to the EU, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said.

The EU granted Kiev candidate status in 2022 and set a 2030 target for membership. Budapest has consistently opposed the move, warning it could escalate tensions with Russia and saddle the bloc’s taxpayers with decades of military aid. Zelensky on Wednesday claimed that Hungary is obstructing accession because Prime Minister Viktor Orban is using criticism of the EU and Ukraine to boost his electoral prospects.

“Ukraine has become one of… the tools with which [Orban] can increase his party’s popularity,” Zelensky claimed at a press briefing, insisting that Kiev will be admitted to the bloc regardless of Budapest’s stance.

Szijjarto ridiculed Zelensky’s claims on the Hour of Warriors program on Thursday.

”I think the Ukrainian leader has completely lost his sense of reality… and maybe that explains why he is saying such crazy things,” Szijjarto stated. “Who becomes a member is not decided by those who want in, but by those who are already in. And it has to be decided unanimously, so as long as not everyone agrees that someone should become a member, they will not become a member – it is not rocket science.”

Szijjarto noted that Hungarians have already made their choice: a national referendum in June showedmore than two million voters, or 95%, rejected Ukraine’s EU bid.

Hungary is not alone in opposing Ukraine’s accession. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and several Polish officials have also raised objections.A recent IBRiS poll showed only 35% of Poles support Ukraine’s EU bid, down from 85% in 2022.

A Eurobarometer poll last month found that just 28% of Czechs back accession, and more than half the populations of France and Austria oppose it.

Moscow had previously been neutral on Kiev’s EU ambitions, saying Ukraine had a “sovereign right” to join if the bloc stayed focused on economics. However, it has grown more critical amid Brussels’ militarization, with officials warning the EU has become “no less of a threat”to Russia than NATO.
