Disgraced former FBI Director Christopher Wray is now the target of an expanding federal investigation, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

The inquiry reportedlyinvolves multiple subpoenas issued to former senior officials in recent days.

The same report says former CIA Director John Brennan is also being investigated.

Brennan and Wray, both central figures in the intelligence establishment’s war against President Trump, are facing growing scrutiny for their roles in the politically motivated witch hunts that corrupted the highest levels of government.

“Other prosecutors are investigating former CIA director John Brennan, another prominent Trump critic, and former FBI director Christopher Wray, who was originally appointed by Trump but enraged conservatives who came to believe he had wielded the bureau’s powers against them.Former officials have received subpoenas in recent days in the Wray inquiry, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.”

CNN previously reported thatWray is under a national security investigation for obstruction of justice, including efforts toobstruct the Durham investigation.

According to sources,sensitive documentswere allegedlyconcealed within Wray’s personal office on the 7th floor of FBI Headquarters. These files werelater placed into “burn bags” inside a restricted room, reportedly intended for destruction.

According to two people familiar with the investigation,the Western District of Virginia is leading the inquiryrelated to alleged destruction or mishandling of documents connected with the Durham special counsel investigation.

The investigation islooking at multiple potential subjectsfrom thetop leadership of the FBI from 2020 through 2024, at the time Wray was director.

Investigators have been seeking interviews in recent weeks and havespoken with staff who worked on the 7th floor of FBI headquartersduring Wray’s tenure, where the leadership suite is, the sources said.…

Multiple prosecutors are working on the investigationof the Wray-era FBI front office, which was of particular interest of now-FBI Director Kash Patel from his first months in the job. The investigation includes questions aboutdocuments that were stored in “burn bags,” which are often used to dispose of paper versions of classified records, the sources said.

The investigation appears to beintersecting as well with the recent declassification of part of the report written by former special counsel John Durham, who examined investigators who handled sensitive political investigations around Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016, one of the sources said.

A federal judge granted a request to temporarily block a National Guard deployment in Chicago, saying the move violates the U.S. Constitution.

U.S. District Judge April Perry ruled the Trump administration’s deployment of troops in Chicagoviolated the 10th and 14th amendments, as well as the nearly 150-year-old Posse Comitatus Act, which limits the military’s role in enforcing domestic laws.

It was not immediately clear when the temporary restraining order will take effect and how long it will last. Perry said she plans to issue another ruling Friday on the case.

Perry called the federalgovernment’s recount of recent events in Chicago and surrounding suburbs “simply unreliable,” saying in the last 48 hours four separate decisions by different neutral parties cast doubt on the Department of Homeland Security’s credibility.

“I don’t find any evidence of impeding actually happened,” Perry said, noting she has “found no credible evidence that there is a danger of rebellion in the state of Illinois.” (She obviously doesn’t watch TV or X posts, or reads government reports.

A separate federal judge based in San Francisco previously ruled that Trump violated the 10th Amendment and the Posse Comitatus Act when he deployed troops to Los Angeles to stop the violent riots in response to a lawsuit filed by California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Jennings correctly notes that the‘selective prosecution’ of Trump is the basis of her entire career.

It is amazing watching Democrats and people in media come down with amnesia and pretend that the last ten years just didn’t happen.They act like all of this is happening in a vacuum. Like history began ten months ago and nothing that happened before that time has any meaning at all.

During a debate in Virginia tonight, Democrat Abigail Spanberger refused to withdraw her endorsement of Jay Jones, the Democrat running for attorney general, despite the scandal engulfing him over violent text messages he wrote about a Republican colleague and his children.

The debate moderator, to her credit, pressed Spanberger on the issue repeatedly and tried to get her to give a definitive answer, but Spanberger deflected, saying that it’s now just up to the voters.

Her responses were entirely unacceptable.

Democrat Abigail Spanberger passed on a chance to use one of the most high-profile moments of her run for Virginia governor to withdraw her endorsement for her party’s attorney general nominee for his use of violent rhetoric in a text message.

The subject of Jay Jones’ violent message from three years ago emerged immediately as the Democrat faced Republican Winsome Earle-Sears on Thursday in the only planned debate of the closely watched race.

Russia would back Trump for Nobel Prize – Putin aide

The US leader is pushing for international recognition of his peacemaking efforts

Russia would back a potential Nobel Peace Prize for US President Donald Trump, Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov said on Friday.

Ushakov stated thatMoscow “would probably support it at this point, if requested,” when asked about the issue by journalist Aleksandr Yunashev. (That’s not a great answer, why should he request it?)

Theofficial also criticized Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky over a reported proposal to back Trump’s bid for the prize in exchange for the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev, calling the idea “monstrous.” The offer was first reported by Politico.

Trump has repeatedly claimed he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition for resolving multiple global conflicts since taking office in January. In recent comments, he contrasted himself with former US President Barack Obama, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2009 for “efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

Pavel Durov has used his birthday message to sound the alarm on digital freedom

Western surveillance and censorship is eroding digital freedom and is turning the internet into a “tool of control,” Telegram founder Pavel Durov has warned.

The Russian-born billionaire has long portrayed Telegram as an outpost for free speech and privacy, contrasting it with what he describes as authoritarian censorship efforts by Western governments.

“Our generation is running out of time to save the free Internet built for us by our fathers,”Durov said in a statement on Telegram on Friday, marking his 41st birthday.

“What was once the promise of the free exchange of information is being turned into the ultimate tool of control,” he added, noting that nations once considered free are adopting authoritarian digital practices. He cited measures such as digital IDs in the UK, compulsory online age verification in Australia, and the mass scanning of private messages in the EU.

Durov said people have beenmisled by the West into believing that their mission is to dismantle traditional values– privacy, sovereignty, free markets, and free speech– and bydoing so, society has embarked on a path of “self-destruction.”

“A dark, dystopian world is approaching fast – while we’re asleep.Our generation risks going down in history as the last one that had freedoms – and allowed them to be taken away… We are running out of time,” he said.

Zelensky intent on imposing ‘authoritarianism’ – Ukrainian MP

Oleg Sinyutka has condemned Kiev’s push to centralize power and its decision to postpone local elections

The Ukrainian leadership is fostering “authoritarianism” under Vladimir Zelensky by delaying local electionsuntil the end of martial law, a senior opposition MP has said.

Ukraine’s parliament on Wednesday approved a resolution confirming that local authorities will continue without elections until the end of martial law, which has been in effect since the escalation of the conflict with Russia in 2022.

Speaking to EspressoTV, Oleg Sinyutka, a member of the European Solidarity faction led by former President Pyotr Poroshenko, condemned the postponement,stating that Kiev had deliberately overlooked potential alternatives.

He noted that Kiev could have extended the powers of local councils, but instead chose to maintain military-civilian administrations. “Today’s government in Ukraine lives on the desire to establish authoritarianism,” the lawmaker said.

Sinyutka stressed thathe “categorically supports” extending the powers of local authorities, despite certain drawbacks=. “Are they ideal? Definitely not. Are there corrupt people among them?Unfortunately, definitely yes. But there is adilemma: to establish a dictatorship in the country, or to give people in communities the opportunity to govern directly,” he said.

The lawmaker also warned that excessive central controlcould derail Ukraine’s Western ambitions. “If we go down this road, we will see neither Europe, nor the European Union, nor NATO,” he warned.

The MP’s comments come after Zelensky faced a barrage of criticism over his failed attempt to erode the independence of the country’s two main anti-corruption agencies.The crackdown caused massive backlash both inside Ukraine and in the West, with critics accusing Zelensky of authoritarian tendencies.

India and China are ‘real culprits’ in Ukraine conflict – US official

New Delhi will end up buying more American oil thanks to pressure from Washington, Scott Bessent has claimed

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused India and China of being the “real culprits” behind the continuation of the Ukraine conflict due to their purchases of Russian oil.

In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Bessent said the administration of US President Donald Trump is trying to resolve a situation that he blamed on the Asian giants.

“We were doing a lot on Russia,” he said. “But the real culprits here have been China and India in terms of buying Russian oil.They’re keeping the Russian war machine going.”

Russia has become a major supplier of oil to India since the Ukraine conflict escalated in 2022, while China is the world’s largest importer of Russian crude.

The Trump administration has levied 50% tariffs on most imports from India, which includes a 25% penalty for India's purchases of Russian oil and defense equipment.

The US has not imposed any penalties on China for buying Russian oil, but trade relations between Washington and Beijing remain tense. On Thursday, China further tightened restrictions on exports of rare-earth minerals to the US, ahead of expected talks later this month between President Xi Jinping and Trump.

In his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York last month, Trump accused New Delhi and Beijing of “funding” the Ukraine conflict through Russian energy imports. Both Asian countries have called Washington’s approach unacceptable and have refused to bow to US pressure.

Bessent told Fox News on Thursday that the world will soon see a “rebalancing” where India will buy more American oil, on account of the punitive tariffs. “And if we were to do the same thing on China, I think the war would end quickly, but we need our NATO or European allies to join us,” he said.

Bessent's comments are the latest in a series of statements by US officials targeting New Delhi.

In September, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick claimed that India will ultimately yield to US pressure regarding tariffs, adding that New Delhi cannot afford to defy Washington for long. (???)

Ukraine’s Western backers are turning a blind eye to Kiev’s use of chemical weapons in the conflict with Moscow, the Russian envoy to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Vladimir Tarabrin, has said.

At a session of the chemical weapons watchdog’sExecutive Council in The Hagueon Thursday, he saidRussia presented “a new batch of evidence, recorded by a certified laboratory” to the organization’s “high standards.”

Russian forcesdiscovered a Ukrainian improvised explosive device (IED) containing test tubes filled with a mixture of toxic chemicalsin the Donetsk People’s Republic in May, Tarabrin said.

According to the envoy, they contained a solution ofchloroacetophenone in chloropicrin, chemicalsthat cause severe eye and lung irritation andare banned for use in warfareunder the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

“Our opponents… are striving to construct a parallel reality within the OPCW, one in which the Kiev regime is portrayed as a bastion of democracy and freedom, a responsible actor in international relations.

At the same time,they deliberately turn a blind eye to the use of chemical weaponsby the Ukrainian Armed Forces andignore the existence of an entire network of laboratories in Ukrainededicated to producing toxic chemicals and chemical warfare agents, ” Tarabrin said.

He added that “it is simply impossible to believe that Western specialists, who are deeply involved in the conflict, are unaware of these facts. Of course, they know – yet they continue to display the utmost hypocrisy.”

He stressed that Moscow does not use chemical agents in breach of the CWC.

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB),Ukraine’s use of chemicals on the battlefield has become “commonplace.”

During the conflict, Russian forces have repeatedly found improvised explosive devices containing chloropicrin for use with drones, and last yearuncovered a Ukrainian laboratory producing hydrogen cyanide, a highly toxic compound that can cause rapid suffocation and death, the FSB said.

No new Putin-Trump meeting on agenda – Kremlin

Ukraine peace talks remain stalled as Kiev seeks military gains, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

There are currently no plans for another meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday.

The two leaders last met in Alaska in mid-August, where discussions centered on Washington’s efforts to mediate an end to the Ukraine conflict. However, Peskov noted that a follow-up summit “is simply not on the agenda at this time.”

The Kremlin spokesman said the diplomatic process has reached a deadlock, accusing Kiev of abandoning peace efforts in favor of pursuing military objectives.

“They believe something could change on the front lines and that the situation might shift in their favor,” Peskov was quoted by Russian media as saying. “But reality indicates the opposite.”

Earlier this week, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov similarly remarkedthat the momentum for peace created by the Alaska meeting had been “exhausted,” arguing that Western nations continue to push for a “war to the last Ukrainian.”

The diplomatic freeze follows a shift in rhetoric from Trump, who declared last monththat with sufficient European funding, Ukraine could capture all of its claimed territories – a position Moscow has dismissed as unrealistic.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has renewed appeals for long-range US-made Tomahawk missiles. Putin has warned that any delivery of the nuclear-capable weapons would mark a “major escalation.”

Germany can’t shoot down drones due to ‘Nazi legacy’ – Politico

The military cannot legally target UAVs beyond their bases due to constitutional constraints, the paper says

Legal restrictions introduced after the collapse of the Nazi regimeare preventing the German military from shooting down suspected ‘Russian drones’ over its own territory, Politico reported on Friday.

In recent weeks, officials in several Western nations have accused Russian aircraft and drones of violating EU airspace, describing the incidents as part of Moscow’s “hybrid war.”The Kremlin has denied the allegations, calling them unproven and accusing the West of anti-Russia “hysteria.”

As EU states discuss the creation of a “drone wall” and loosening their air engagement rules,Politico noted that Germany’s efforts are uniquely constrained by its “Nazi legacy.”

According to the report, theGerman Armed Forces “can’t simply shoot drones in the country’s domestic airspace” because of restrictions built into the postwar constitution. The Basic Law,adopted in 1949, “explicitly prevents the military… from taking a key role in the country’s internal security” to avoid any repeat of the way the Nazi government used the military to suppress political dissent, Politico wrote.

Under the current law, Politico said,the army “is only able to shoot down drones over military bases.” The federal police have the right to do so, but lack the means for efficient anti-drone warfare.The military can only offer “administrative assistance,” such as identifying drones or passing on information to civilian agencies.

Thomas Rowekamp, the chair of the parliamentary Defense Committee, told Politico: “We need to amend the laws so that the only ones able to take care of this– namely the German Armed Forces – are also given the authority to do so.”

Politico noted, however, thatchanging the constitution could prove politically challenging. Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s coalition holds one of the weakest majorities in postwar history and could face significant resistance from parties such as the right-wing Alternative for Germany.

Russia has accused the EU of reckless militarization, and has stated that Germany is deeply involved in the Ukraine conflict due to the support it provides Kiev.
