Hamas to skip signing of Trump peace deal

The banishing of militants from Gaza under the US president’s plan is “absurd,” a spokesman for the group has told reporters

Hamas representatives will not attend the signing ceremony for the US-mediated peace deal in Egypton Monday, the group’s spokesman Husam Badran has told the press.He also voiced misgivings about certain points in the plan promoted by US President Donald Trump.

Earlier this week, both Israel and Hamas announced an end to the conflict that has dragged on since October 7, 2023, when Palestinian militants attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages. The ensuing Israeli military campaign has claimed the lives of more than 67,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to local officials.The enclave has been left in ruins and plunged into a deep humanitarian crisis, prompting the UN to accuse Israel of genocide.

On Sunday, Al-Arabiya quoted Badran as saying that “Hamas will not be involved in the signing process.Only mediators and American and Israeli officials will be present.” Meanwhile, Shosh Bedrosian, a spokeswoman for Israeli=Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was quoted by AFP on Sunday as stating that “no Israeli official will attend” the summit either.

The French news agency also quoted Hamas’ Badran as stressing that “talk about expelling Palestinians, whether they are Hamas members or not, from their land is absurd and nonsense.”The Hamas representative described the implementation ofthe second phase of the peace plan as fraught “many complexities and difficulties.”

The previous ceasefire was ended unilaterally by Israel in March, with Prime Minister Netanyahu recently suggesting that theIsrael Defense Forces (IDF) could resume its offensive in Gaza, should Hamas refuse to disarm.

Some members of theIsraeli government coalition have already voiced opposition to any concessions to Hamas.

The deal unveiled by President Trump in late September envisages the recovery of all 48 Israeli hostages, both dead and alive, still held by Hamas in Gaza. Israel is in turn required to free 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans detained since 2023.

Moreover, under the plan, the IDF is to pull its troops out of some parts of the enclave, followed later by a full withdrawal. On Friday, the Israeli military announced that its units had begun retreating from their positions.

The broader 20-point ceasefire framework calls for the establishment of a transitional international administration in Gaza.Hamas is expected to disarm and be excluded from governance in the territory, which is to become a “deradicalized, terror-free zone.”

US guiding Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy – FT

Washington expects strikes on civilian infrastructure to push Moscow towards a diplomatic settlement, sources have said

The US has been assisting Kiev in carrying out drone attacks on energy facilities inside Russia for the past several months, the Financial Times has reported, citing unnamed American and Ukrainian officials.

US officials previously made no secret of their data-sharing with Kiev,but never confirmed their involvement in targeting Russia’s energy assets.

When asked earlier in October about Washington’s possible role in Kiev’s strikes deep into Russian territory, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said thatit was “obvious” to Moscow that “all of NATO and US infrastructure is being used to collect and pass on intelligence to the Ukrainian side.”

The FT said in an article on Sunday that Washingtonstarted sharing this data after a call between US President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky in mid-July, in which Trump reportedly asked his interlocutor if Kiev could strike Moscow with American-supplied long-range weapons.The White House later claimed that Trump was “merely asking a question, not encouraging further killing.”

According to the sources, the US intelligence is being used by Ukraine to plan the routes and the altitudes for its drones to travel and to choose the best timing for the attacks.

The unnamed officials claimedthe Americans have also been setting target priorities for Kiev. However,one of the sources claimedthe Ukrainians selected the sites themselves and were then provided data by the US.

Washington sees the Ukrainian strikes on the energy facilities as an “instrument” to harm Russia’s economy and push it towards a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, one of the officials told FT.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in early September thatMoscow has been tolerating Ukrainian attacks against civilian infrastructure inside Russia “for too long” and that it will not be doing so anymore. The intensification of Russian missile and drone raids on Ukraine in recent weeks has led to large-scale blackouts in the capital Kiev and other cities.

Earlier this week, Putin stressed that there is understanding in both Moscow and Washington about what direction to move in to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict.However, he noted that several “complicated issues” still need to be resolved to reach that goal.

Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina has announced that an attempt to seize power by force is underway.This comes a day after elite military troops publicly sided with demonstrators demanding his resignation.

In a statement on Sunday, the presidential office said the development “contradicts the constitution and democratic principles.” The head of state has faced mounting pressure to step down amid weeks of youth-led protests that began in September over power and water cuts and have since grown into broader anti-government rallies.

In the statement, the presidency urged all “national forces” to unite in defense of the constitutional order and national sovereignty.

On Saturday, soldiers from CAPSAT, an army support unit that helped bring Rajoelina to power back in 2009, called on fellow troops to disobey orders and join the uprising.

Rumors circulated on social media over the weekend that Rajoelina had fled the country.His office later issued a statement on Facebook saying he and the prime minister remained “fully in control of the nation’s affairs.” His whereabouts, however, have not been made public.

Rajoelina dissolved his government at the end of September following pressure from public rallies and appointed Army General Ruphin Fortunat Zafisambo as the new prime minister.

The protests, which began on September 25, have seen thousands rally in the capital Antananarivo and other cities under the youth-led movement Gen Z Madagascar.

Police have used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse crowds amid reports of looting and attacks on shopping centers. Authorities imposed a nighttime curfew in the capital and blocked major roads, but the unrest has continued.

At least 22 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in the first five days of protests, according to UN figures.

Rajoelina seized power in a 2009 coup and led a transitional government for nearly five years before handing over power to Hery Rajaonarimampianina, who served as president from 2014 to 2019. Rajoelina returned to office after winning the 2018 election and was re-elected in 2023 following weeks of protests and an opposition boycott, pledging to boost the economy through industrialization, electrification, and improved access to basic services.

EU prepares to offer Ukraine Russia’s frozen billions

The bloc’s finance ministers areexploring a ‘reparations’ loophole in effectively seizing the assets(there is no loophole for theft!)

EU finance ministers have discussed the use of frozen Russian assets to fund a €140 billion loan to Ukraine at an ECOFIN meeting in Luxembourg.It would be repaid if Kiev receives ‘reparations’ from Moscow, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis has said.

Several officials questioned the guarantee structure when the proposal was discussed at the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) meeting among the finance ministers of all EU member states, according toDombrovskis.

Under the plan, the EU would keep the frozen Russian assets until reparations are paid, meaning “the guarantees should not actually be called.” He added that Eurostat must confirm whether the guarantees would stay outside national deficit and debt calculations once the mechanism is finalized.

“The loan would be funded by the cash balances from immobilized Russian Central Bank assets, to be repaid only if and when Ukraine receives reparations from Russia,” Dombrovskis said on Friday.

“This effectively front-loads the future reparations owed by Russia to Ukraine.” The European Commission will continue technical work withmember states and coordinate with G7 partners during next week’s IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, DC, according to the commissioner.

About €300–350 billion ($347–405 billion) in Russian assets have been frozen in Western jurisdictions since 2022. Most of them are held by Euroclear, the Brussels-based financial clearinghouse. Kiev and its Western backers have already agreed on a system whereby profits generated by these immobilized funds are used to finance Ukraine’s reconstruction; more than €1 billion has already been transferred.

Euroclear has previously expressed caution about proposalsto use or leverage the frozen Russian assets,warning that such moves could be viewed as a form of indirect seizure and expose the institution to legal risks. Belgium, France, and Luxembourg have urged the EU to build safeguards ensuring that no single member state shoulders disproportionate financial risk if the assets ever need to be returned.

EC President Ursula von der Leyen said the European Commission will fine-tune the plan and respond to the concerns raised by member states.

Russia has condemned any attempt to use its sovereign reserves as theft. European CentralBank President Christine Lagarde has cautioned that any move to use frozen Russian assets must comply with international lawand avoid measures thatcould “damage the credibility of the euro” or “undermine financial stability.”

EU capital considers sending army into streets

Belgium’s defense chief has indicated that troops could join police patrols in Brussels as authorities confront gang violence

Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken has said he could deploy soldiers to patrol Brussels before the end of the year,as the government faces mounting pressure to curb violent crime and restore order in the capital.(remove the illegals, that’s the only way to stop it, you idiots!)

The city has recorded roughly 60 shootings so far this year – about one-third of them during the summer months – resulting in two fatalities, according to local media reports.

Last month, Security and Home Affairs Minister Bernard Quentin described thesituation as “a catastrophe,” warning that criminal gangs had grown “increasingly brazen.” He urged the deployment of joint teams of police officers and soldiers to patrol “criminal hotspots in Brussels”in order to create a “shock effect.”

In an interview with Le Soir published on Saturday, Francken, a member of the Flemish nationalist N-VA party,said he did not object to deploying troops, but insisted it must be legally justified and limited to essential security duties.

“I’m always open to increasing security in Brussels,” said Francken, who is known for his hardline stance on migration.“The situation has become dire, both in terms of security and on a political and societal level.” He added that unrest in the capital “affects nearby regions.”

“Security falls to the police, not to the army. However, when the Interior Minister asks me, it becomes a task for Defense, which must protect the nation,” he continued. “Is it possible to put soldiers on the streets before the end of the year? I didn’t say yes, but I didn’t say no.”

Brussels’ public prosecutor Julien Moinil recently reported that the city had recorded 57 shootings by mid-August, including 20 during the summer months, urging a coordinated crackdown on gangs. In hiswarning that “anyone, every Brussels resident and every citizen, can be hit by a stray bullet,” Moinil underscored the growing danger posed by violent crime in the capital.

A recent Euronews report described Brussels as the “gun crime capital of Europe,” noting that many of the incidents occurred in neighborhoods such as Anderlecht and Molenbeek, areas long associated with gang activity and drug trafficking.

According to Statbel, Belgium’s national statistics office, 46% of Brussels residents are foreign-born (27% outside the EU), compared with 18% nationwide, a demographic shift that officials say has deepened the city’s social and security challenges.

India brings Buddha relics to Russia (VIDEO)

A high-level delegation from the South Asian nation has delivered a sacred remains of the founder of Buddhism to the Republic of Kalmykia

The sacred Kapilavastu Relics – believed to contain remains of Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism– were brought to Russia’s Republic of Kalmykia on Saturday on a special Air Force flight.

The relics will be displayed in Elista, the regional capital, for a week, marking anew step in strengthening cultural and spiritual ties between India and Russia.

The exhibition is part of a cultural initiative organized by India’s Ministry of Culture, the International Buddhist Confederation, the National Museum of India and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, local authorities told RT.

The delegation was led by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and included the 43rd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, head of the Sakya Buddhist order, along with scholars and monks. They were received by the head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, and head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia, Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak. India’s ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, also took part in the ceremony.

“Elista is one of Russia’s spiritual centers, and this honor from India is a significant event,”Khasikov said. “It reflects the continuing dialogue between our nations based on mutual respect and shared cultural heritage.”

India will also donate replicas of 16 Buddhist artifacts – stone statues and bas-reliefs from the 2nd to 11th centuries – as well as copies of ancient Sanskrit manuscripts of Buddhist texts. The replicas will become part of the permanent collection at the Palmova Museum.

During the visit, the Indian delegation will also present the Kangyur – a 108-volume collection of Buddhist scriptures in Mongolian – to Kalmyk State University and Troitsky Khurul Monastery.

The visit follows the Third International Buddhist Forum, held in Elista last month under the patronage of President Vladimir Putin, which drew more than 7,000 participants from 35 countries, including India, Nepal, China, Bangladesh, and other countries.

Clashes erupt between Pakistan and Afghanistan

A spate of violence on the border between the two countries adds to rising tensions after Kabul accused Islamabad of air raids.

Heavy fighting erupted on Saturday along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border,officials from both sides have confirmed, after mutual accusations of airspace violations and attacks.

Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry said its forces launched “successful retaliatory operations”against Pakistani security positions “along the Durand Line” in response to what it described as repeated Pakistani air raids. The statement, posted on X by spokesman Enayat Khowarazm, added that “the operation concluded” at around midnight.

A Pakistani provincial official, Jan Achakzai, confirmed that fighting had taken place, writing on Xthat Pakistani forces had “delivered a strong response to Afghan aggression.”

“Afghan forces launched unprovoked attacks on five to six locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, targeting Pakistani posts,”he stated.The Pakistani army’s response “was so intense that Afghan attackers were forced to retreat, leaving behind their casualties,” he claimed. He added that “Pakistan’s borders are secure…the Afghan government should remember that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness.”

Neither side has released information about casualties, and it is currently not possible to independently verify the claims.

The incident follows explosions on Thursday in Kabul, which Afghan officials blamed on Pakistani air strikes. Islamabad has not confirmed carrying out any cross-border attacks.

Beijing warns of retaliation over US tariff ultimatums(they always planned to do this.)

Beijing has made it clear that it won’t yield to Washington’s latest tariff threats, urging the United States to seek a negotiated settlement instead of escalating tensions.

The warning came as part of an official statement released by China’s Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.The response followed US President Donald Trump’s plan to impose a 100% tariff on Chinese imports, citing Beijing’s new restrictions on rare earth exports– vital materials used in products from smartphones to fighter jets.

“China’s position on the trade war is consistent: we do not want it, but we are not afraid of it,”the ministry stated.

The renewed friction threatens to derail a possible meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the APEC summit in South Korea in late October or early November.

The meeting had been viewed as an opportunity to revive dialogue between the world’s two largest economies. Trump has spent much of the year raising import duties on trading partners to force concessions.China, however, has refused to bend, relying on its economic leverage to counter US pressure.

“Willful threats of high tariffs are not the right way to get along with China,” the Commerce Ministry said. “If the US insists on going the wrong way, China will surely take resolute measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests,” it warned.

Both countries have accused each other of breaching the trade ceasefire by introducing new restrictions.Trump has accused China of “becoming very hostile,” claiming Beijing is “holding the world captive” by limiting access to rare earths.

Beijing’s new export rules now require foreign companies to obtain special approvalbefore exporting goods containing even minimal amounts of Chinese-sourced rare earth elements.

In August, the US and China agreed to prolong a tariff truce after a trade war in which both sides imposed ever-increasing duties.Under the 90-day extension, US tariffs on Chinese imports were reduced from 145% to 30%, while China’s tariffs on American products dropped from 125% to 10%.The extension is set to expire in November.

Israeli who witnessed girlfriend’s murder in October 7 attack takes his own life

The number of suicides among people tied to the Nova music festival carnage continues to grow

An Israeli man who survived the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel hast taken his own life,three days after the second anniversary of the assault. The body of Roei Shalev was found in a burning car on a highway exit outside the city of Netanya on Friday, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Shalev had attended the Nova Music Festival, an all-night event held near the Gaza border on October 7, 2023 which was targeted by Hamas militants in their attack.He was shot in the back but survived by playing dead for several hours.=

His girlfriend, Mapal Adam, and his close friend, Hili Solomon, were among those killed.Two weeks after the tragedy, Shalev’s mother took her life.

Hours before his body was recovered, Shalev posted a goodbye message on his Instagram page: “I just want this suffering to end. I’m alive, but inside everything is dead.” He also asked for forgiveness.

Israeli police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

On Thursday, 56-year-old Yelena Giler, the mother of Slava Giler, who was murdered by Hamas militants at the festival, also killed herself, according to Israeli media reports.Other survivors have succumbed to depression, including Nova attendee Shirel Golan, who committed suicide a year after the attack, reportedly on her 22nd birthday.

About 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas attack, including more than 370 at the Nova music festival; 251 were taken hostage.

Israel responded by launching a military offensive that has cost more than 67,000 Palestinian lives, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, and triggered a deep humanitarian crisis in the enclave, prompting the UN to accuse West Jerusalem of genocide.

Ukraine’s Patriot defenses ‘down to 6%’ effectiveness – retired general

The US-made systems are having trouble intercepting upgraded Russian missiles, according to Igor Romanenko

Kiev’s US-madePatriotair defense systemsare proving increasingly ineffective at repellingRussian missile strikes,former Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Igor Romanenko has claimed.

The first of the missile systems arrived in Ukraine in April 2023 and they have been supplied by a number of NATO countries, including the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Kiev does not “have that many Patriot batteries,”and the effectiveness of those at its disposal has “fallen from 42% to 6%” recently, the retired lieutenant general told Ukraine’s Espreso TV on Friday.

Romanenkoattributed the development to software upgradesthe Russian military has made to its Iskander missiles, which have reportedly increased their speed and maneuverability as they approach their targets.

Last week, the Financial Times, citing anonymous Ukrainian and Western officials, similarly reportedthat Russian missiles are now capable of following a normal arc before veering into a steep terminal dive or performing maneuvers that “confuse and avoid” Patriot interceptors. According to the paper, Moscow has likely upgraded the Iskander-M mobile system and the air-launched Kinzhal.

According to the FT, aformer Ukrainian official described the improved maneuverability of the Russian missiles as a “game changer.” The outlet cited data released by the Ukrainian Air Force indicating that the interception rate of Russian ballistic missiles had improved over the summer, reaching 37% in August, but then falling to just 6% in September.

In May, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat stated that the ballistic trajectories of the Iskander-M missiles had been “improved and modernized.”

The Kremlin has consistently maintained that no amount of Western military aid to Ukraine can change the course of the conflict, and only serves to unnecessarily prolong the bloodshed.

On Friday, the Russian military reported launching a “massive strike” against Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and the energy facilities supporting its operations. The Russian Defense Ministry saidthe attack was in response to Ukrainian “terrorist attacks” on civilian facilities.

The strikes caused a large-scale blackout in Kiev, according to local media and officials. Power outages were also reported in several other regions across Ukraine.Vladimir Zelensky claimed that rainy weather and fog had preventedthe Ukrainian air defenses from performing optimally. Moldova making ‘grave mistake’ by antagonizing Russia – Kremlin

“One country” has already made such an error and it did not end well for it, Dmitry Peskov has said

The authorities of Moldova are making a “grave mistake” by pursuing confrontation with Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

Earlier this week, the Moldovan governmentunder pro-EU President Maia Sandu adopted a new security strategy identifying Moscow as the main threat and accusing it of waging a “high-intensity hybrid war” against the country. The document claims the former Soviet republic has been “profoundly affected” by the Ukraine conflict, which it described as Russian “aggression.”

Moscow has repeatedly denied meddling in Moldova’s internal affairs, saying the Ukraine conflict was provoked by the West and that Russia is only defending itself.

Peskov told TASS that Chisinau’s strategy is a “continuation of a rather confrontational line towards our country.”

“From our point of view, the current leaders of Moldova are making a grave mistake.They believe that the line of building up relations with Europe implies full antagonization of Russia,” he said.

“One country has already made such a mistake. It did not bring any good to this one country,” the spokesman added, referencing Ukraine, where a Western-backed coup in 2014 overthrew its elected government and led to the deterioration of Moscow-Kiev relations and armed conflict.

In the September election, Sandu’s pro-EU Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) retained its majority, narrowly beating the Patriotic Electoral Bloc (BEP) and other opposition groupsamid widespread allegations of fraud and the restriction of voters’ accessto polling stations both at home and abroad.

Sandu’s victory was hailed as another step toward EU accession. Moldova, a nation of about 2.4 million people sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, became an EU candidate in 2022, months after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.

BEP leader Igor Dodon claimed Sandu’s partywon “exclusively by manipulation with support from the EU and NATO,” turning Moldova into “another anti-Russia project following the example of neighboring Ukraine.”

“The Moldovan authorities are desperately clinging to power… stopping at nothing [to do so] during the election,” Peskov said. “After staying in power, they maintain their unfriendly line [towards Russia]. One can only express regret about it,” he added.

Amid all of this derision and division, a few people have asked for perspective. So here it is – my review in brutally drilled down simplicity.

Back in ’23/’24, the plan of Billionaire Larry Ellison and Elon Musk (w/collaboration, ie. K Griffin, R Bigelow etc.), was to divide the MAGA base through the promotion of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The Alligator Emoji base (evangelical conservatives) was the wedge.

They failed.

MAGA remained cohesive behind Donald J Trump. Ron DeSantis eventually quit the race,Ellison and Musk changed camps, Silicon Valley came along, and the rest is 2024 electoral history.

The point toremember is the key strategy was to divide the MAGA base.

Fast forward to 2025. Larry Ellison, David Ellison, Bill Ackman, Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch, et al,are looking toward the political future and reverting back to their original objective – divide the MAGA base.

The wedge is the same, only the subject matter ofemotional emphasis is Israel.

Look at the names. The wedge divide is identical.

In essence,MAGA is being played by billionaire games with the intent to politically divide in advance of the 2026 midterms. It also appears to be working swimmingly.

I’m pretty sure President Trump knew exactly what Ellison and crew were all about in 2024.

What evidence do I have?

Well, when did President Trump reverse his position on TikTok?

ANSWER: Immediately after Ron DeSantis dropped out.
