Trump stopped by Bnei Brak’s famed Viznitz bakery to pick up fresh Challah.

 

Bnei Brak’s prominent Viznitz bakery is named after Vizhnitz (ויז׳ניץ or וויזשניץ), the Hasidic dynasty that today has one of its main courts with its grand rabbi in Bnei Brak. (Vizhnitz is the Yiddish name of Vyzhnytsia, a town in present-day Ukraine. Back when the movement was founded in the 19th century, it was a village in Austrian Bukovina, the eastern tip of Galicia.)

Also, when I look at this picture I can't help but remember that Trump's mother was beaten in NYC while walking to the bakery to pick up some fresh bread.

The assault: On October 31, 1991, 79-year-old Mary Anne Trump was mugged near her Jamaica Estates home. As she resisted the attacker, 16-year-old Paul LoCastro, he knocked her to the ground and beat her before stealing her purse, which contained just $14. Mrs. Trump suffered broken ribs, severe facial injuries, a brain hemorrhage, and permanent damage to her sight and hearing.

The capture: Herbert, a delivery man, witnessed the attack and chased the fleeing suspect. During the pursuit, LoCastro threw the purse at him. Herbert caught LoCastro and held him until police arrived.

The reward: After the incident, Donald Trump held a dinner for Herbert at his Plaza Hotel to thank him. Trump also gave Herbert a check that prevented his home from being foreclosed.

The sentence: LoCastro pleaded guilty to robbery and assault and was sentenced to three to nine years in prison in July 1992.
