That particular wave of shootings in 2019 seemed so focused on "proving" the dangers of chan platforms like 8chan. 8chan specifically. HotWheels played a big role in pushing that narrative, then later, in trying to prevent 8kun from coming online. That fall, some family of victim in the El Paso shooting even tried to sue Jim W personally.
(At the time of deplatforming, anons on both /qresearch and /qrb were trying to resolve timeline discrepancies that called into question whether the El Paso shooter had to time to post on 8chan prior to starting the Walmart shooting spree. Was it real or fake?)
