FFS NO it doesn't apply only to convictions. It applies to the prosecution of the crime itself. Tried once, jury or judge renders verdict. Double jeopardy attaches, usually. It was placed in the Constitution so the government couldn't keep trying someone for the exact same crime, exact same facts, until a conviction is obtained. Stop spreading this nonsense.
