Dear Mr. President, Americans Don't Care Who Owns Donetsk, So Why Risk WW3 By Sending Tomahawks?

Poll after poll has shown that the overwhelming majority of Americans reject direct US military involvement in Ukraine - such as sending troops or other actions which could constitute the start of direct conflict with nuclear-armed Russia.

The reality also remains that most Americans can't find Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia on a map. Does the American public really want to constantly poke the Russian bear over places they can barely pronounce? Do they really care who owns the Donbass? "Where!?…" - your average Joe sixpack is likely asking.

Why then, Mr. Trump, are you actually contemplating giving Zelensky, who you once dubbed the 'greatest salesman on Earth', America's own vital long-range Tomahawk missiles?

Why are you indulging yet a fourth in-person meeting with Zelensky (and specifically his third trip to the Oval Office) since you took office in January? Where is the pressure on Zelensky to cede territory and rapidly end this bloody and tragic war? Where are the loud assurances of no more NATO expansion to Russia's border?

Why can't the Ukrainian government, which has already received billions in US taxpayer funds, so much as admit that it has lost Crimea forever? Even this smallest of admissions and concessions would be a big something offered on the path to peace. And yet Kiev remains vocally against ever ceding Crimea, despite the obviously impossibility of ever getting it back (and absolutely everyone knows this).

Instead of any semblance of the ability to make compromise, even though it's obvious to pretty much all that Ukraine's military has been steadily losing a 'war of attrition', Zelensky is busy meeting with Raytheon executives before walking into the White House on Friday morning.

This is all part of the pressure and pitch to persuade Trump to give Ukraine the sought after long-range missiles capable of reaching all main population centers in Russia.

"We discussed Raytheon's production capabilities, possible ways of our co-operation to strengthen air defence and increase Ukraine's long-range capabilities, and the prospects for Ukrainian-American production," Zelensky posted on Telegram early Friday.

Putin aide proposes direct Russia-US tunnel

Kirill Dmitriev has invited Elon Musk to join the project, saying his infrastructure firm could build the 70-mile route in under eight years

Russia and the US should build a direct rail tunnel under the Bering Strait to link the two countries, Russian presidential aide Kirill Dmitriev has suggested.

In a post on X on Thursday, Dmitriev, who also serves as head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund (RDIF), said both nations would benefit from the route and invited billionaire Elon Musk to join through his Boring Company, which builds underground “Loop” transport systems.

“Elon Musk, imagine connecting the US and Russia, the Americas and Afro-Eurasia with the Putin-Trump Tunnel – a 70-mile link symbolizing unity,” Dmitriev wrote on X, saying the project would spur resource exploration, create jobs, and boost both economies. “Let’s build a future together… The time has come to connect Russia and the US.”

Dmitriev’s remarks followed Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna’s release of declassified Soviet files on the assassination of JFK, shared by Moscow this week. In addition to documents on the killing, the 350-page trove included a “Khrushchev-Kennedy Bridge” project to link the two nations.

IMF warns against Trump-style tariffs

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has urged nations not to impose tariffs, following US President Donald Trump’s latest measures

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Georgieva said, “the largest economy in the world has chosen to use tariffs as an instrument in relations with partners.”

The IMF chief urged nations to adhere to “trade on the most favored nation rule,” adding that imposing tariffs “does not work well” unless the nation has a “very large” and “relatively closed” economy. She warned that nations which place tariffs on others will see prices rise domestically.

“If there is a flare-up of trade tensions, that would of course have a negative impact,” Georgieva said, noting that the US and China are engaged in a trade war. “This is why we are saying: Please… do not do that. It is not a healthy action,” she added.

"Outraged" Trump Refuses To Adhere To Global Carbon Tax On Shipping

The United States will vote “no” to a global carbon tax proposed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on Oct. 17, President Donald Trump said on Truth Social.

Prince Andrew has announced his decision to no longer use his royal title or the honours previously conferred upon him following discussions with his older brother, King Charles III.

Transgender identification among college students drops nearly 50% since 2023

A surprising new trend is emerging on American college campuses as the number of students identifying as transgender or non-binary has plummeted by nearly half in just two years.

According to a 2025 survey by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), only 3.6% of U.S. undergraduates now identify as transgender or non-binary, down dramatically from 6.8% in 2022-2023. This startling reversal suggests the gender identity surge that captivated young Americans may be losing momentum as student mental health improves and cultural attitudes evolve.

The comprehensive survey of 68,000 undergraduates reveals what some analysts are calling a "natural correction" after years of escalating transgender identification among youth. Eric Kaufmann, a politics professor at the University of Buckingham who analyzed the data, noted that "the share of trans-identified students has effectively halved in just two years." This decline coincides with the first sustained improvement in student mental health in over 15 years, with depression rates among college students dropping from 44% in 2022 to 38% in 2024.

A dangerous trend for younger teens

The Williams Institute at UCLA recently found approximately 724,000 Americans aged 13 to 17—about 3.3% of that age group—now identify as transgender. This persistent trend among younger teens raises serious concerns about medical professionals who profit from permanently altering healthy bodies before children can fully comprehend the consequences.

The surge in teen transgender identification has created a lucrative industry for medical providers who push irreversible procedures like mastectomies, hormone blockers, and genital surgeries. These interventions often create lifelong patients while destroying natural fertility and causing permanent physical changes. Many detransitioners have come forward describing how they were rushed into medical transitions during vulnerable periods only to regret their decisions years later when the psychological distress that initially drove their gender confusion resolved.

Jonathan Alpert, a New York City psychotherapist, suggested the college decline might reflect young people becoming "tired of feeling pressured to define every emotion or difference with a new identity." He observed that "once people become more comfortable in who they are, they stop needing to define themselves so rigidly." This growing self-assurance represents a positive development compared to the previous climate where teens felt compelled to adopt new identities to explain normal developmental confusion.

The head of US Southern Command, the military commander overseeing US escalations in the Caribbean and the push toward an attempt at regime change in Venezuela, is stepping down, the Pentagon announced on Thursday.

According to a statement from SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey, who served in the position for less than a year, he will be retiring on December 12, 2025, ending a 37-year military career.

No reason was given for his resignation, but according to The New York Times, he had raised concerns about the US military mission in the Caribbean, which has involved a significant buildup of forces and the bombing of five boats that the Trump administration has claimed, without providing evidence, were carrying drugs.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued a statement on Holsey’s retirement and praised the admiral, but the Times report said that officials at the Pentagon and on Capitol Hill said the praise “masked real policy tensions concerning Venezuela that the admiral and his civilian boss were seeking to paper over.”

Reuters also reported that a source said there had been tension between Holsey and Hegseth and questions about whether he would be fired in the days leading up to the announcement.

The Trump administration has come under significant criticism for its bombing campaign against alleged drug-running boats since the operations amount to extrajudicial executions. The Pentagon has also provided Congress with no hard evidence to back up its claims about the strikes.

US officials have also been clear that the real purpose of the military campaign is to oust Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The administration has used drug trafficking as the pretext for the operations, pointing to the large number of overdose deaths in the US, but they are primarily caused by Fentanyl, which doesn’t come from Venezuela or travel through the country on its way to the US.

President Trump has recently authorized the CIA to conduct lethal covert operations inside Venezuela, as the US military is considering launching airstrikes directly against Venezuelan territory.

Australia launches nationwide campaign Sunday to prepare citizens for divisive social media restrictions

A national advertising campaign to prepare Australians for the Albanese Government’s controversial under-16 social media ban will kick off this Sunday, ahead of the law’s December rollout.

From 10 December 2025, major platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X, Facebook and YouTube will be required to take “reasonable steps” to stop Australians under 16 from holding social media accounts.

Government officials are meeting with the major platforms this week to reinforce expectations around how the new laws will be enforced. According to controversial eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, authorities will focus on deleting existing underage accounts from day one — a move that has drawn sharp criticism from advocacy groups and online safety experts.

Some think it’s the lead for digital id.

Heavy Israeli Airstrikes Reported in Southern and Eastern Lebanon, One Killed

Major damage reported in town of Bnaafoul

Israel continues to escalate its airstrikes against Lebanon today, launching massive airstrikes against multiple targets in the country, including targets in the southern town of Bnaafoul, where both warplanes and drones caused major explosions and damaged multiple buildings.

Other strikes were reported near Nabatieh and the Bekaa Valley town of Chmistar. A sound bomb was dropped at Ras Naqoura, and a drone also struck an area of the town of Blida while locals were harvesting olives. They also fired artillery near Yaroun.

Details are still emerging about the casualties caused in these strikes, early reports are one person was killed and at least seven wounded. The IDF issued statements claiming that strikes in both the south of Lebanon and Bekaa Valley actually targeted underground Hezbollah storage facilities.

The IDF did not provide any evidence to support the claim that Hezbollah facilities were located at these sites, and the terms of the ceasefire were meant to have them inform Lebanon of the discovered locations so the army could dismantle them, which did not happen.

Israel has been attacking Lebanon on a near daily basis since the ceasefire was signed in November, but increasingly intense strikes in recent weeks, destroying a large number of construction vehicles last week in an attack on Msayleh.

Over the weekend, Israel even carried out a drone attack against UNIFIL peacekeepers in the area near Kfar Kela, wounding one. It was the second time they struck near UNIFIL personnel in the past month, and the IDF insisted only that they would take measures to avoid casualties when striking near them in the future.

Texas law SB2420 forces digital ID verification by 2026, Apple and Google apps to comply

Starting on January 1, 2026, Apple users located in Texas will need to confirm whether they are 18 years or older when creating an Apple account. Apple Accounts for users under 18 will be required to join a Family Sharing group, and parents will need to provide consent for all ‌App Store‌ downloads, app purchases, and in-app transactions.

Developers will also need to make changes to their apps to comply with the law. To assist developers, Apple plans to update the Declared Age Range API to provide the required age categories for new account users in Texas. Apple is also creating APIs that will let developers invoke a system experience to allow the user to request that parental consent be re-obtained. Parents will also be able to revoke consent to prevent a minor from using an app.

Apple has been fighting against age assurance requirements in Texas and other states like Utah and Louisiana, because of the data collection required to determine user age. Apple says that SB2420 will force users to share personally identifiable information to download apps.

While we share the goal of strengthening kids’ online safety, we are concerned that SB2420 impacts the privacy of users by requiring the collection of sensitive, personally identifiable information to download any app, even if a user simply wants to check the weather or sports scores. Apple will continue to provide parents and developers with industry-leading tools that help enhance child safety while safeguarding privacy within the constraints of the law.

Greta Thunberg says she was tortured and sexually humiliated by Israeli forces. In her Aftonbladet interview, she described:

“They grab me, pull me to the ground, and throw an Israeli flag over me.”

“They dragged me … I had the flag around me the whole time. They hit and kicked me.”

“They moved me very brutally … ‘A special place for a special lady,’ they said … they repeated ‘Lilla hora’ (Little whore), ‘Hora Greta’ (Whore Greta).”

She says a flag was placed to touch her; when it fluttered, guards shouted “Don’t touch the flag” and kicked her side. Her hands were later tied tightly, and guards lined up to take selfies with her in that state.

While lying face down, she says she was beaten repeatedly:

“Every time I lifted my head … I was kicked by the guard standing next to me.”

In the corner where Greta was sitting, the police placed a flag.;

"The flag was placed so that it would touch me. When it fluttered and touched me, they shouted ‘Don’t touch the flag’ and kicked me in the side. After a while, my hands were tied with cable ties, very tightly. A bunch of guards lined up to take selfies with me while I was sitting like that."

Outside, she was forced to take off her clothes again, she says. "It was mockery, rough handling, and everything was filmed. Everything they do is extremely violent."

“We begged … Can we have water? … They walked laughing in front of the bars with water bottles, throwing them in the trash.”

When people fainted, she says they pounded on cages and asked for a doctor, only to be threatened:

“‘We’re going to gas you.’”

She warned:

“If Israel … can treat a well-known, white person with a Swedish passport this way, just imagine what they do to Palestinians behind closed doors.”

Thunberg accused the Swedish government of downplaying their ordeal and failing to pressure for aid:

“We showed them … our injuries … they said: ‘Our job is to listen … you are entitled to consular support.’”

“We asked for water … They didn’t bring any.”

Emails from Sweden’s Foreign Ministry described the scene as: “harsh treatment and that she had been sitting on a hard surface for a long time,” underplaying her claims of torture.
