Jack Smith Referred To DOJ For Misconduct Investigation And Possible Disbarment

Former special counsel Jack Smith was criminally referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Oct. 16 by multiple Republican lawmakers for alleged misconduct and possible disbarment.

A group of GOP lawmakers, led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, asking her office to refer Smith, who was involved in two federal cases against then-former President Donald Trump, to the Office of Professional Responsibility for an investigation.

A statement from Blackburn’s office said Smith had “allegedly engaged in serious prosecutorial misconduct through the politically motivated Arctic Frost investigation and must face appropriate consequences, up to and including disbarment.”

It was revealed earlier this month that the FBI had obtained cell phone records of several sitting Republican senators.

“As part of Jack Smith’s weaponized witch hunt, the Biden DOJ issued subpoenas to several telecommunications companies in 2023 regarding our cell phone records, gaining access to the time, recipient, duration, and location of calls placed on our devices from January 4, 2021, to January 7, 2021,” Blackburn and several other Republican lawmakers wrote to Bondi on Thursday.

The senators added that they “have yet to learn of any legal predicate for the Biden Department of Justice issuing subpoenas to obtain these cell phone records,” the letter said.

Along with Blackburn, FBI agents had obtained data on the phone use of Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), as well as Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), according to a document that was recently made public by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Oct. 6.

Smith wrote in his final report, released earlier this year, that toll records—or records from phones—had shown that Trump allegedly tried reaching out to two senators and told another individual to call members of Congress and suggested they try to delay the certification of the 2020 election results.

China Expels 9 Top Generals, Including Two From Communist Party Leadership, In Sweeping Purge

In another major purge likely based on loyalty, China's President Xi Jinping has embarked on another significant series of top level military firings, with the Communist Party having expelled nine senior generals in one of the most sweeping such moves in decades.

A Defense Ministry statement indicated the nine officers are under investigation for "serious financial misconduct." Also unusual is that most of them were three-star generals and formed part of the party's powerful Central Committee.

And it wasn't just a demotion, but most were booted completely from the armed forces. The defense ministry statement said the nine had "seriously violated party discipline and were suspected of serious duty-related crimes involving an extremely large amount of money, of extremely serious nature, and with extremely detrimental consequences."

They will face legal and military punishment as a result of the investigation which was a "significant achievement in the party and military's anti-corruption campaign."

The most notable figure to get dismissed is He Weidong - among the most senior generals in the group - who was a member of the 24-man Politburo, as well as the country's second-highest-ranking military officer. And he was among powerful leaders immediately after President Xi Jinping, who chairs the Central Military Commission (CMC).

But there had been building speculation that Gen. He had run afoul of Xi and the party and was under a serious probe, given he hadn't been seen in public since Mary.

Gen. He is the most senior active-duty military officer that Xi has purged, and the first incumbent vice chair of the Central Military Commission, or CMC, to be ousted in nearly four decades. The 68-year-old general, who hasn’t been seen publicly since March, is also the first sitting Politburo member to be investigated since 2017.

China last purged military officials at this level of seniority roughly a decade ago, when the party expelled two retired CMC vice chairmen on corruption charges during Xi’s first term as leader.

That’s because the Constitution mandated gold coins and silver coins as the official money of our nation.

But gold coins and silver coins cannot be printed, like paper money can. So, FDR used the excuse of an economic “emergency” to declare a permanent end to our constitutional monetary system. Indeed, he did it without even the semblance of a constitutional amendment. And the U.S. Supreme Court upheld his extraordinary “emergency” power to effectively amend the Constitution through executive order and congressional law, even though the Constitution does not delegate“emergency” powers to either the president or the Congress.

Ever since then — year after year, decade after decade — the value of the paper dollar has gone down. That’s because the federal government found it more convenient to pay for its out-of-control welfare-warfare-regulatory programs through newly printed money than by simply raising income taxes on people.

Poland Lets Ukrainian Wanted By Germany In Nord Stream Blasts Walk Free: 'A Just Act'

A Polish court has simply let a Ukrainian citizen suspected by Germany of sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September 2022 walk free.

The Polish judge ruling in the case not only decided to ignore the European arrest warrant issued by German authorities last month, but went so far as to say that if the man did have a part in the undersea bombing, then it was a "just" act.

The suspect, identified as Volodymyr Zhuravlyov, has been wanted by Germany and the case has attracted international attention and controversy; but upon being freed the crowd in the court room reportedly let out cheers.

He's said to have been a Ukrainian diver involved in the covert operation on behalf of Kiev. "A Ukrainian man suspected of being involved in causing undersea explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines between Russia and Germany in 2022 was arrested in Poland, a spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw said Tuesday," The Associated Press reported last week.

This marked the second recent arrest related to the Nord Stream sabotage investigation, as last month another Ukrainian man was arrested in Italy in connection.

According to more fresh details of these new developments:

Volodymyr Zhuravlov, 46, was arrested near Warsaw Sept. 30 on a German warrant. German prosecutors have described him as a trained diver and allege that he was part of a group that placed explosives on the pipelines near the Danish island of Bornholm three years ago.

The Warsaw District Court rejected his extradition on Friday and ordered his immediate release.

The man’s lawyer, Tymoteusz Paprocki, said ahead of the hearing that “my client doesn’t admit guilt, he didn’t commit any crime against Germany and he doesn’t understand why these charges were made by the German side.” He said he also would argue that no Ukrainian should be charged with any action directed against Russia.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has made clear that it would not be in Poland's interest to hand over the suspect, and has even expressed praise for the suspect.

Senate Candidate Returns AIPAC Money As Pro-Israel Group Becomes Political Poison

In the latest indication that the war in Gaza is significantly threatening Israel's dominance over American politics, a sitting US congressman and Senate hopeful has announced he's returning donations received from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and refusing to accept any more.

“In recent years, AIPAC has aligned itself too closely with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government," said Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton on Thursday, one day after announcing he was launching a primary challenge against incumbent Dem Senator Edward Markey.

"I’m a friend of Israel, but not of its current government, and AIPAC’s mission today is to back that government…I don’t support that direction. That’s why I’ve decided to return the donations I’ve received and will not be accepting their support.”

Moulton will refund $35,000 that he's received from AIPAC.

AIPAC quickly lashed out at its estranged beneficiary.

“Moulton is abandoning his friends to grab a headline, capitulating to the extremes rather than standing on conviction,” the group wrote on X.

“His statement comes after years of him repeatedly asking for our endorsement and is a clear message to AIPAC members in Massachusetts, and millions of pro-Israel Democrats nationwide, that he rejects their support and will not stand with them.”

Trump Admin Moves To Gut Office Promoting Gender Ideology And Abortions Amid Schumer Shutdown

The Trump administration is looking to slash an office at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) whose critics say has been a major driver of gender ideology and abortion policies in the federal government.

The Office of Population Affairs (OPA) saw roughly 30 employees issued reduction-in-force (RIF) notices Oct. 10, effectively sidelining most of the agency’s staff, individuals familiar with the matter told the Daily Caller News Foundation. The cuts come as White House officials repeatedly warned that staffing reductions could occur if Democrats continue to refuse to reopen the government.

OPA’s stated mission is to advance “reproductive health outcomes and adolescent health and wellbeing by supporting high-quality clinical services, evidence-based and innovative programs, rigorous research and evaluation.” Critics, however, contend the agency has been used to advance Democratic policies.

Ahead of the Oct. 1 shutdown deadline, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directed agencies to draft RIF plans for individuals employed in programs that lacked a current funding source or were inconsistent with the administration’s priorities. OPA was targeted because of its history of advocating for and funding organizations that promoted gender ideology and abortion, the people with knowledge of the events said.

The primary function of OPA is to administer Title X of the Public Health Service Act, which offers grants to support a “broad range of acceptable and effective family planning methods and related preventive health services that include natural family planning methods, infertility services, and services for adolescents.” In practice, however, the office has increasingly emphasized pregnancy prevention, sources said.

Moreover, while the Title X statute prohibits Title X funds from directly supporting abortions, the Biden administration overturned a rule which barred Title X projects from providing information about or referrals for abortion, according to the Congressional Research Service. Most projects are now required to provide such referrals if requested by clients, including referrals for abortion.

Affiliates of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, have also received millions in Title X funding over the years.

Regulations finalized in October 2021 specifies Title X projects are prohibited from requiring parental consent or notifying a parent or guardian when a minor seeks or receives services. In 2024, Texas challenged the rule in court, leading HHS to suspend its enforcement within the state.

Under the Biden administration, individuals affiliated with pro-abortion organizations were embedded in OPA, and one such employee who remained after the Trump administration took office was affected by the recent RIF, sources said.

Ex-Christie staff gets ten years in prison for sex with six-year-old

Kevin Tomafsky admitted paying victim’s father for rape

A former aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was sentenced to ten years in prison for engaging in a sexual act with a six-year-old child.

Kevin Tomafsky, 43, admitted to paying the victim’s father, who is also under indictment. The New Jersey Globe is withholding the other defendant’s name to protect the victim’s privacy.

The former governor’s office staffer pleaded guilty to first-degree endangering the Welfare of a Child. Tomafsky, a Washington Township resident, must serve at least five years before becoming eligible for parole, and will spend the remainder of his life on the Megan’s Law list of sex offenders.

He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Roger Lai.

An investigation into Tomafsky began in October 2022 after Snapchat reported the uploading of an incident of alleged child sexual abuse to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which was then sent to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office.

According to court records obtained by the New Jersey Globe, Tomafsky was identified as the original recipient of a photo of a young female engaged in oral sex with an adult after the Gloucester prosecutor’s office reviewed records supplied by Snapchat as a result of a warrant.

Detectives found multiple devices belonging to Tomafsky containing child sex materials after executing a search warrant of the Washington Township home where he lived with his mother. A forensic review determined it was Tomafsky who downloaded and transmitted the images online.

A grand jury indicted Tomafsky in July 2023, and he was arrested on August 15. Superior Court Judge Renard Scott rejected a bid by Gloucester County Assistant Prosecutor Bryant Flowers for pretrial detention, perhaps making Tomafsky the beneficiary of Christie’s bail reform initiative.

Christie hired Tomafsky to work in the governor’s office in June 2010 after spending eight years working on Republican campaigns in South Jersey, including as campaign manager for Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-Vineland). Tomafsky held a state government job, which he resigned immediately following his arrest.

Several days later, a Superior Court judge authorized a search warrant of the home Tomafsky shares with his mother. The search was conducted on December 14, 2022, and an examination of devices belonging to him revealed his possession of less than 1,000 items of child sexual abuse material.

The other individual was charged with six criminal accounts, including knowingly committing the act of sexual penetration on the six-year-old and photographing a child engaging in a sex act.

Colonel Michael Randrianirina was sworn in as Madagascar's president on Friday, after seizing power in a military coup following youth-led protests.

The military takeover has been condemned by the United Nations and the African Union, which has suspended Madagascar's membership.

Ousted President Andry Rajoelina fled Madagascar, claiming his life was in danger. He was then impeached in absentia on Tuesday, after Randrianirina announced that the military would take power.

Protests against Rajoelina led to coup

The takeover came after three weeks of anti-government protests, led mostly by young people protesting chronic electricity and water cuts and widespread poverty.

The protests gained momentum when Randrianirina's military unit, known by its French acronym (CAPSAT), mutinied and joined the ranks..

Military council to run Madagascar, for now

Randrianirina said a committee led by the military would rule for up to two years alongside a transitional government before organizing new elections.

"Madagascar has not chosen a military regime," he told reporters Thursday.

"The government belongs to civilians. The presidential council is also composed of military and civilians," he said.

Rajoelina's whereabouts were unknown. Some media reports have suggested the 51-year-old was evacuated on Sunday aboard a French military plane that took him to the French island of Reunion from where he traveled to Dubai.
