It has to do with orbital mechanics, i.e. how we would do stuff in space with our technology.

 

Moreover, 3iAtlas is coming in clockwise to the orbit of the planets. If it was a spaceship planning to arrive at a planet, it would have made a minor change when it was closing in on the inner solarsystem, so it would come in counterclockwise to the planet-orbits.

…according to the orbital mechanics school of thought.

nah, don´t think so. orbital mechanics about orbits, trajectories, speed of spacecrafts/other stuff.

 

I think it´s called the Oberth effect (orsomethingsimilar), the effect of energy put into speedchange is most when going fastest, or at a periapsis-point of an orbit, i.e. 3IAtlast when it´s closest to the Sun.
