CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – An ice-clogged waste water valve on the space shuttle Discovery Sunday forced the astronauts to avoid the ship's toilet and resort to old-fashioned plastic bags used in the old Apollo moonships.

 

An 18-inch-long plume of ice built up late Sunday on the left side of the new shuttle around a valve used to dump excess water overboard.
