Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano, is showing strange new signs — and scientists are worried.
Recent satellite data and ground sensors reveal that the volcano is slowly stretching apart, and parts of it are sliding toward the sea. This movement isn’t normal. Beneath the surface, magma is shifting through new cracks deep under Sicily, forming what researchers are calling a “magma highway.”
