Treasury Secretary Warns US Won't Be Able To Pay Military By Nov. 15

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that active military service members will miss their paychecks by Nov. 15 if the government shutdown persists, while suggesting that it’s not certain that all of them will be paid at the start of November.

“I think we'll be able to pay them beginning in November, but by Nov. 15 our troops and service members who are willing to risk their lives aren’t going to be able to get paid,” Bessent said during CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning.

The shutdown, which was initiated on Oct. 1, has furloughed around 750,000 federal employees and left others working without pay. Troops, however, have been paid by the Trump administration during the funding lapse after money was shifted money.

A private donor also sent the government a $130 million check to help cover the paychecks of around 1.3 million active service members, confirmed President Donald Trump last week. The individual who made the donation doesn’t want to be named, he said.

“He called us the other day and he said, ‘I’d like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I’d like to contribute, personally, contribute any shortfall you have with the military, because I love the military and I love the country, and any shortfall, if there’s a shortfall, I’ll contribute it,’” Trump said in a a roundtable meeting with his Cabinet members.

The funding lapse that sparked the shutdown came about after members of Congress could not—and still are unable to—agree on funding the government.

Democrats insist that a measure to reopen the government include a permanent extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies that are set to expire at the end of the year. They also demand the reversal of provisions from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law in July, that exclude asylum seekers, refugees, and those on certain visas from qualifying for Affordable Care Act coverage starting in 2027. Republicans have said that Democrats’ demands are akin to a hostage situation and said these issues should be debated separately, rather than as a condition for reopening the government.

President Donald Trump has reacted to the announcement in an early Monday statement, saying it is "not appropriate" amid ratcheting tensions between Moscow and Washington and as peace talks have stalled.

Trump described that Putin should focus on ending the war with Ukraine rather than testing missiles. He was pressed on the issue by reporters on Air Force One regarding the nuclear test.

"They know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shores," Trump posited in response. "We don’t need to go 8,000 miles. Putin ought to end the war — a war that should’ve taken one week is now in its fourth year," he continued. "That's what he ought to do instead of testing missiles."

But he also noted of the US military, "We test missiles all the time." He said this to perhaps downplay the seriousness of the event in the exchange with reporters:

"They are not playing games with us. We are not playing games with them either. We test missiles all the time," he said.

While Russia first disclosed the test on Sunday, it actually took place on October 21 according to the Kremlin announcement.

Israeli Minister Suggests the IDF Should Shoot Children Near the ‘Yellow Line’ in Gaza

According to Israeli media, Itamar Ben Gvir made the comments during a security cabinet meeting

Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir suggested that the Israeli military should shoot Palestinian children in Gaza who approach the so-called “yellow line,” referring to the line Israeli troops withdrew to when the ceasefire went into effect.

According to Israeli media, he made the comments during a recent security cabinet meeting. A military official who attended the meeting said that the IDF’s policy is to shoot any adults who cross the line and arrest a “child with a donkey.”

In response, Ben Gvir said, “Why not shoot a child with a donkey?” Israel’s Channel 4 reported that he also urged the Israeli military to “shoot children and donkeys too,” saying that Israel must “stop being merciful.”

In one incident, the IDF bombed a vehicle that allegedly crossed the line, killing 11 people, including seven young children.

UK Expands Online Safety Act to Enforce Preemptive Censorship For “Priority” Offenses

Britain’s push for online "safety" drifts into a realm of digital pre-crime, where algorithms decide guilt before anything gets seen.

The UK government is preparing to expand the reach of its already controversial censorship law, the Online Safety Act (OSA), with a new set of rules that push platforms toward preemptive censorship.

The changes would compel tech companies to block material before users can even see it, under the claim of stopping “cyberflashing” and content “encouraging or assisting serious self-harm.”

On October 21, the government laid before Parliament a Statutory Instrument titled The Online Safety Act 2023 (Priority Offences) (Amendment) Regulations 2025.

This legal mechanism, used to amend existing legislation without requiring a full new Act, adds two additional “priority offences” to Schedule 7 of the OSA:

Encouraging or assisting serious self-harm, defined in Section 184 of the OSA

Cyberflashing, derived from Sections 66A and 66B of the UK Sexual Offences Act 2003

By classifying these as “priority illegal content” under Section 59 of the OSA, the government triggers the law’s strictest obligations for online platforms.

Section 10 of the Act lays out the steps companies must take to remain compliant, steps that go far beyond traditional moderation.

Platforms will be required to employ preemptive censorship systems designed to “prevent individuals from encountering priority illegal content” and to “mitigate and manage the risk of the service being used for the commission or facilitation of a priority offence.”

In reality, this means social networks, forums, and messaging services will need to automatically block or filter posts that algorithms believe might fall under these categories before they are even visible to the public. This would require increased surveillance of people’s online communication.

They will also have to implement rapid takedown procedures for any content reported by users as potentially illegal.

What the decline of the nation’s oldest antisemitism-fighting org says about the future of Jewish politics.” The author, Jesse Arm, a Tel Aviv University dropout, argues that the ADL’s “anti-hate” strategy has backfired:

Had antisemitism itself remained a peripheral prejudice, that evolution might merely have been disappointing. But anti-Jewish hate has surged since October 7, 2023, in the form of civil terrorism, street violence, targeted attacks, and the mainstreaming of conspiratorial figures on both left and right. The ADL’s approach—count incidents, denounce them, offer a free trip to the Holocaust museum—has proved worse than useless in response.

Ironically, Arm’s prescription for Making the ADL Great Again is worse than “worse than useless”:

The old ADL model—rooted in law-enforcement partnerships, deterrence, and unapologetic civic defense—is the most obvious answer. The job of a serious defense organization is to make it dangerous to menace Jews…

In other words, Arm wants transform the ADL from a supposedly anti-hate organization to an openly pro-hate organization. He hopes to reinvent the ADL as a terrorist outfit infiltrating law enforcement in the same way that other organized crime groups do. He wants to cross out the A and reinvent the group as a rebranded JDL, or Jewish Defense League, a terrorist group implicated in numerous murders and arsons. World Zionist Congress kicks off in Jerusalem to set agenda for national institutions

Over 1,400 delegates and alternate delegates from 43 countries will participate in the WZC, which serves as the legislative and decision-making body for the World Zionist Organization.

The World Zionist Congress is convening in Jerusalem on Tuesday for a three-day conference to vote on resolutions, appoint the leaders of the National Institutions, and set the agenda for Zionist leadership.

The congress will open with a ceremony with Israeli president Isaac Herzog, World Zionist Organization Yaakov Hagoel, and other heads of Zionist organization and movements.

Over 1,400 delegates and alternate delegates from 43 countries will participate in the WZC, which serves as the legislative and decision making body for the World Zionist Organization.

The delegates will be divided into committees based on subject matter to deliberate on resolutions, which vary from supporting Diaspora education to calling for government inquiry into the October 7 Massacre.

At each conference, a coalition agreement is made to determine what portfolios are given to delegates of different slates. All slates are included in negotiation and agreement to decide who will head major institutions such as the WZO and Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF).

There is no expected day that the coalition agreement will be announced and signed, but last year the agreement was announced on the second day of the convention and signed the day after. If there is no coalition agreement, there will be a constitutional crisis. This year's negotiations are complicated by two factions within the Likud movement negotiating separately, amid an internal dispute and failure to hold elections.

The congress, which is held every four years, follows a record-breaking election turnout earlier this year. Over 265,000 voters expressed their support for a wide variety of slates representing different political and religious denominations within the Jewish people.

The 39th Congress will also see seven new federations being represented: Paraguay, Ecuador, Uganda, Serbia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. At the end of the convention, federations from Moldova and Latvia will also join the movement.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich again attacked Saudi Arabia during a Religious Zionist Party (RZP) faction meeting in the Knesset on Monday, claiming that Riyadh "denies our tradition and our heritage."

Smotrich caused a diplomatic stir last week after telling the Saudis to "keep riding camels in the Saudi desert" if they condition normalization with Israel on a demand to establish a Palestinian state.

"My statement about Saudi Arabia was certainly not successful, and I regret the offense it caused," Smotrich said in a filmed apology shared on social media on Thursday. "However, at the same time, I expect the Saudis not to harm us and not to deny the heritage, tradition, and rights of the Jewish people.

"We have survived 77 years without Saudi Arabia, we can survive 77 more without it," he stated.

"These incidents are a thousand times more insulting than an ill-advised comment by a finance minister," Smotrich said in response to a question by a reporter for Israel's public broadcaster, KAN News.

Smotrich lamented the lack of outrage among the Israeli public for what he called an "insult to our soldiers, our children and brothers…when Saudis discuss a Palestinian state, they deny our heritage, our tradition, our history, the Bible…Judea and Samaria is at the heart of Judaism and Jewish history."

Smotrich noted that, while Israel does believe in peace, it will not accept it "at any price," adding that "nobody is doing us a favor by normalizing ties and joining the Abraham Accords. We will not agree to any nation setting conditions" related to Israel's territorial integrity, he added.

The finance minister also noted that the Gaza war "has not ended yet" during RZP's Monday faction meeting.

"From our perspective - the deal's real test is its implementation," Smotrich told reporters in the Knesset. "The State of Israel will not allow Gaza's rehabilitation while Hamas is yet to be dismantled."

A 2020 document signed by a former senior official at the National Security Council revealed how Israel encouraged Qatar to transfer money to the Gaza Strip, despite knowing that significant sums were reaching Hamas, Israeli public broadcaster KAN News reported on Sunday.

"This humanitarian assistance has continued throughout the coronavirus crisis. It has been vital and has improved the humanitarian situation in Gaza during this complicated time," the letter continued. "Despite the many challenges involved in transferring the assistance, the cooperation and coordination between our countries has ensured that it continues to reach the people of Gaza."

"We reiterate the importance of continuing to transfer the Qatari humanitarian financial assistance through the existing mechanism, i.e., the Ambassador Alemadi and the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, in order to maintain the aformentioned excellent achievements," Levy wrote to the Qataris.

Nancy Pelosi’s portfolio returned 816% over the past decade, beating by massive percentages both the S&P 500 and Warren Buffett.

As good as Pelosi is, in 2024, she only ranked 10th among her Congressional colleagues despite beating the index 70% to 25%.

Pelosi’s well-timed trades, including sales before regulatory actions, have drawn scrutiny despite denials of using insider information.

Warren Buffett may be considered the greatest investor of our time, but even he can’t touch the prowess of California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). As my colleague Omor Ibne Ehsan recently detailed, over the past decade, Pelosi has generated a cumulative return of 816% from her investments, beating the S&P 500 by a whopping 559 percentage points.

In contrast, the poor Oracle of Omaha has only managed a 282% cumulative return for Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK-A)(NYSE:BRK-B) during that same period — better than the benchmark index, but it’s no contest: Buffett is no Pelosi.

This past summer, though, The Washington Times explored the prescient knack Pelosi has for timing her trades. It detailed how her portfolio — ostensibly managed by her husband Paul Pelosi — sold 5,000 shares of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) last year just before the Federal Trade Commission launched an antitrust investigation into the tech giant. Pelosi also sold 2,000 shares of Visa (NYSE:V) prior to the Justice Dept. suing the payments processor.

Al-Suwayda Druze Leader Demands ‘Independence’ From Syria, Laying Ground For Israeli Invasion

The spiritual leader of the Druze community in Syria, Hikmat al-Hajri, said on October 27 that self-determination for the people of al-Suwayda is “an absolute right that cannot be revoked”, stressing that his vision is based on the “complete independence” of the governorate.

Druze armed factions backed the Islamist rebel offensive that overthrew the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad last December, but later refused to allow the forces of the country’s new Islamist-led Interim Government to enter al-Suwayda, maintaining a form of autonomy over the governorate.

In July a battle broke out in al-Suwayda, when an intervention by government forces to end a local conflict involving bedouins quickly escalated into an all-out, sectarian-fueled attack on the Druze. Israel, which vowed to protect the community after the fall of the Assad regime, eventually intervened, and the battle ended with a ceasefire brokered by the United States.

The battle claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people, around a third of them were Druze civilians executed by government troops and bedouins. Hundreds others were abducted.

To this day, government forces are still occupying over 30 towns abandoned by their Druze population in the northern and western countryside of al-Suwayda. The rest of the governorate is under siege.

“The number of kidnapped people exceeds 600, including women, and the government in Damascus is obstructing any negotiations regarding them,” al-Hajri revealed in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

The Druze leader pointed out that “the government in Damascus has not yet committed to withdrawing from the affected towns and is insisting on distorting the facts.”

“We call on the international community to recognize the ‘genocide’ that the people of Sweida faced, and it is essential to uncover the truth about what happened,” he added.

Right after the battle, Druze factions unified in a single formation, the National Guard, and have reportedly begun receiving support from Israel.

Israel Accuses Iranian Leader Of Plotting Attacks On Jewish Sites As It Manufactures Case For New War

Israel’s Mossad spy agency on October 26 accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of orchestrating a string of recent attacks on Jewish sites in Western countries, in what appears to be an attempt to manufacture a cease for a new war with the Islamic Republic.

A statement by the agency named Sardar Ammar, a senior commander of the IRGC’s external operations branch known as the Quds Force, as the mastermind behind the attacks.

It said that the force intensified its efforts to attack Jewish and Israeli sites around the world since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, alleging that Ammar commands some 11,000 operatives in carrying out covert operations.

The Quds Force carried out, under the command of Ammar and others, vandalism and arson attacks against Jewish businesses and communal institutions, Mossad said, “aiming to intimidate communities and create conditions that could lead to more serious attacks.”

Sardar’s network also planned attacks against senior Jewish communal figures, the agency added, without providing any specific names.

The agency did, however, point out three specific attacks on Jewish sites, which were allegedly orchestrated by the Quds Force.

In July 2024, Greek anti-terrorism police arrested seven suspects, including two Iranians, for arson attacks on an Israeli-owned hotel and a synagogue in Athens. In July of this year, German prosecutors said Danish police detained a man for spying on Jewish sites in Berlin for Iranian intelligence, possibly to prepare “terrorist attacks”. Later in August, Australia accused Iran of orchestrating arson at a Melbourne synagogue and a Sydney kosher restaurant using criminal gangs. Tehran’s ambassador was expelled from the country, which also vowed to designate the IRGC a terrorist group.

Amazon Plans To Axe 30,000 Corporate Jobs, Cuts Begin Tuesday

Late in the U.S. cash session, Reuters dropped a startling headline: Amazon is preparing to take a Javier Milei-style axe to its corporate workforce, planning to slash upwards of 30,000 jobs as soon as tomorrow.

Reuters, citing three people familiar with the matter, said the 30,000 corporate job cuts set to begin tomorrow will amount to approximately 10% of Amazon's corporate workforce of about 350,000 employees. However, the cuts represent a relatively small share of the company's total workforce, which includes about 1.55 million warehouse and delivery workers.

The planned layoffs are aimed at reducing costs and reversing pandemic-era overhiring.

Chicago priest removed from parish over alleged homosexual grooming of seminarians

Father Xamie Reyes, a parish pastor, faces accusations of sexual misconduct against seminarians in the Archdiocese of Chicago, where Cardinal Blase Cupich has presided over a pro-LGBT culture.

Father Xamie Reyes, a priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago, has been removed from his parish after being accused of sexual misconduct and grooming seminarians, heterodox Cardinal Blase Cupich announced last week.

In an October 18 statement, Cupich announced that Fr. Reyes, who had been the pastor of Little Flower Parish in Waukegan since 2019, was removed from that position pending an investigation after serious allegations surfaced that the priest had groomed seminarians. Under Cupich’s leadership, the Archdiocese of Chicago has become notorious for fostering a pro-LGBT culture. Cupich has also downplayed the role of homosexuality in clerical abuse.

“The Archdiocese has received allegations against Father Reyes of grooming and sexual misconduct,” the cardinal wrote in the statement. “The allegations do not involve children and youth, but they do involve seminarians.”

Cupich noted that Father Ismael Garcia, who was the associate pastor of Little Flower Parish under Reyes, has been appointed as the new pastor during the investigation.

“I know that this is unsettling news, but I take seriously the responsibility to ensure those serving you are fit for ministry and that all are kept safe,” he added. “I do appreciate your patience as we work to evaluate thoroughly these allegations.”

Despite his denunciation of Reyes’ alleged abuse, Cupich has a long history of breaking with and fostering confusion over the Church’s teaching on homosexuality.

In 2015, during the Synod of the Family, he proposed a pathway for both homosexuals and divorced and “remarried” couples to receive the Eucharist in accordance with their “consciences.”

In 2021, he allowed then-Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a “married” lesbian, to receive Holy Communion at a funeral Mass he celebrated. In 2023, he offered a Mass commemorating the heterodox Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach’s (AGLO) 35th anniversary.

In 2022, two homosexuals gave a “Gospel reflection” promoting their “marriage” during Mass at Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago. Last year, heterodox Chicago priest Fr. Michael Pfleger conducted a “blessing” of two “married” homosexual men, and another Chicago priest “blessed” two lesbians as “holy spouses.”

Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson was back in court on Monday as Judge Tony Graf ruled on whether he may appear in court in civilian clothing.

Judge Graf ruled that Tyler Robinson may appear in court in civilian clothing for his trial given the presumption of innocence, however, he said Robinson must appear in restraints.

The judge also ruled that the media may not photograph or record Tyler Robinson entering or exiting the courthouse.

Robinson, 22, has three public defenders: Kathy Nester, Michael Burt, and Richard Novak.

Tyler Robinson did not appear via video in Monday’s hearing, however when the judge asked if he could hear him, Robinson responded, “Yes, I can.”

The judge ordered Robinson back in court on January 16, 2026 and January 30, 2026.
