The idiots fail to understand that one of the major symptoms of serious mental illness is the sufferer fails to know they are sick.

The meds are mis-used but can be life saving.
The social workers / gov. steals the money slated for "serious mental illness" because they are told or believe there is not cure and it's hopeless to try to help.
Most end up dead, in jail where they get no positive treatment for their actual illness. Or permanently institutionalized which is like a living death.
That's why the original Reagan move was considered at the time a positive for the sufferers.
The "homes" were so terrible it seemed like an improvement.
